Guild Wars 2

Playing from start i learnt quickly that running dungeons (or anything) with pugs is a no-no in GW2 for me. I’m not very hardcore myself so not minding much when some newbie messes up things, but the loser (yeah in long run they really are lol) elitists looking for to only have those profs set up that way in group, whining when things go wrong, ragequitting when results aren’t what they hoped for…..brrr, they’re so many!

Ok, not as many now since Anet drained Underworld with their brilliant WVW plan, but they’re out there still i’ve seen, beware!

Not much to do about it, i’m not expecting this MMO to suddenly become nicer that way – to fix it one best try to find a nice guild to hang out with, and if it’s not nice and friendly enough, join another! And playing the game sometimes you meet good ppl out there, chatty ones, helpful ones – add them as friends, ask if they’re in a good guild, just keep at it and in the end you won’t have to risk ending up with the elitist pack.

For 2 Days i’ve had problems with game, superslow loading and crashes, especially when jumping maps, but also in middle of doing nothing in particular. I also have problems connecting to GW2 main site or wiki, took ages coming to forum and logging in.

Guildies with IT-knowledge helped troubleshooting over Teamspeak and we “traced routes”, “pinged” and whatnot – myself a complete puter idiot i just followed commands and we “concluded” that i probably have routing problems reaching Austin Texas where GW2 server is located (i know some say it’s in Germany, myself i don’t know or care really, maybe they’re wrong, but they are both skilled puterwiz’es) so we also tried reaching other site located there, and www.austintexas.gov gave same result – major packet loss, timeout, slow loading site. Everything else over internet works just fine, we checked broadband stats and in/out all is well.

I can sometimes log in to play GW2, newsfeed on login page doesn’t show up, and the times i do not crash at logging in i can even at times jump to other maps, very slow loading screens but nothing that shows when my character is up….until i crash…

I called my internet provider which is a small local company – although using the largest net in sweden (well that’s what he said anyway, i don’t really trust support ppl in general) – and the guy said problem is located overseas and that it’d probably be fixed soon….yes i may switch ISP….

Anyway, it all can be a problem in USA, or somewhere along routes there, or maybe even my router at home- i just wonder if anyone by any chance has same issues now – i doubt i’ll find someone else here in my block in sweden playing GW2 over exact same route, but….

Also interesting hearing any input regarding issues like this.

Ok, never been much for recruiting on forums like this, but it does seem to work- at least a couple nice ppl found this thread and joined, welcoming Renko and Lotusu!

Still, for doing the Guild Bounty missions we can use more, need more even- can ofc spam chat and invite random ppl to help with these missions, but all the explanations that’ll be in order for that…brrr…it’d be much nicer and smoother if we had everyone connected before, to plan, inform and advice!

So, looking for more nice players to join us- if the first post in thread awakens an interest, give us a shout!

And probably i do, because if i go to Guild forum – let’s say i’m looking for a guild, i do a search for “Underworld” because that’s where i play…then i just get the first page up again? Not like i get a few posts up in which the word Underworld is written…..

Surely it must be me being stoopid here, because the Guild Recruitment forum in a game named GuildWars2 cannot possibly be meant to work in such a useless way?

If looking for huge guild where you’ll have 499 strangers around you then you might want to stop reading now already , but if you are interested in getting more buddies in game- having a few more nice ppl around to play with and get help/advice from if needed, then Splinters of Dawn could be something for you!

[SOD] is an itsy bitsy small guild, with not that many active players, sometimes just a couple online, but we ofc get a bunch of dungeons and Fractals done every week. We’ve achieved a few of the Guild Upgrades – big bank, Guild armor/weapons, some WvW upgrades – a bit of everything, and working together on more.

We recently unlocked the Guild Bounty Missions, and that is part of why i post here – we could use a couple more members to be able to run these smoothly!

Originally we were a few coming from SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) in which [Dawn] guild was active for a number of years, on Chimaera and later Farstar servers. We went to SW:TOR and played that for a while, but then some of us decided to try out GW2.

A lot of good ppl have been lost along the way, but ofc we’ve also found a few new nice guys to play with – still, with different timezones and real lives taking up valuable gaming time (lol) for some of us it would be nice finding a few more to join us!

Casual, somewhat mature players, are welcome to contact us – pwnzor type players looking for hardcore PvP guild, or are after spending evenings farming may look elsewhere.

If you’re already in another guild that’s ok too (but do check with your other guild first if they accept it) since we don’t run a hardcore “Always Represent” thing – even if it’s appreciated if you help collecting influence together with us! Who knows, if we’re nice enough perhaps [SOD] in time can become your “main guild”, and if not then you’re still left with a couple buddies to chat and play with when your main guild is quiet!

We use TS3 to communicate, and when running dungeons and such we see it as a must to use this – i guess that’s one of very few “rules” we have, the rest is just common sense- don’t be greedy and rob guild bank, treat other like you’d like to be treated yourself – stuff like that, if not understanding that then by all means please stay away!

We really only recruit when we stumble over ppl that seems nice, and if players seem to think they are gods gift to gaming community, or act needy, then we avoid taking chances really. And, since we mostly stick to running instances within guild we’re surely missing out on many out there that’d be good hanging out with – maybe this post can catch their eye?

Did Fields of Ruin like that last night. Only one commander on the map. Except the commander specifically said they were providing WP for farming aetherblades. We did switch to regular mobs when the aetherblades bar was emptied. Killed Scarlet with time to spare.

Yeah i guess it doesn’t have to be a Commander shouting out orders, but ppl do follow them around, and see where they are on map…..i guess a Commander that informs about farming intentions is playing it fair, but myself i’d be disappointed popping over to a blue dot just to find he/she is there farming, with purty blue tag Active – to me a Commander should lead soldiers trying to win the battle, not to get himself/herself gold…but that’s just my opinion ofc.

3rd time i did the full Blazeridge Steppes invasion it actually counted for achievement, yay!

I think many of those who stay behind to kill champions during the invasions just doesn’t know better, if some skilled Commanders were active in shouting out next wp or direction (preferably to some event that is useful for winning the invasion) many would listen and follow, leaving the farmers behind letting them struggle a bit more with their Champions.

Maybe too much to ask both from Commanders and the bloodthirsty crowd, but i bet it works in theory at least…

I enjoy game without farming gold to get this or that asap, and not failing mission is more important (yes even if i’ve done won it before woot) to me than if i find a couple more rare mats or whatever farmers are after – and i think there are more odd ones like me out there, they just don’t have a plan or tactics.

Happened to me twice, missing out on it all, but also gotten through the event on maps without problems a bunch of times…i guess they’ve patched game up a tad wrong, too small margings, made it randomly unstable, or something….ofc i really haven’t got a clue….and there’s no way they’d admit it anyway, or bother fixing some random crashes even if they’ve caused them, since it is working mostly.

Clueless as i am i’ll try lowering graphic settings n stuff, would’ve thought fixes were made to improve game performances, not other way around, but if not i’ll try this at least – can’t whine too much – not paying to play so cannot expect perfection i guess.

I like the dailies, they make buddies come online to play every day!

Well, not all do – some of them does realize that GW2 is just a game that they can play in their own pace without getting stressed up if they can’t buy some ingame item in shortest possible time – yup, i know some clever ppl!

I doubt they’ve tried to fix this issue at all, i reported it the other day and got adviced to create an alt character that could join guild and get into bank as a temporary solution, lol.

Hopefully it’ll work better after upcoming game update though – it is a bit ironic with all these Guild issues in a game named Guild Wars 2……was there as much bugs in GW1?

Well, good for you! Perhaps it’s a server thing, maybe they managed to mess Underworld up only somehow…sounds odd though.

Ppl say that if you go guest on other servers things work better, can get into Fractals smoother and whatnot- haven’t tested any of that myself. Someone claimed that you could get into guild bank when in Divinty’s Reach, but…i’ll just skip it for now – i’ll log out and enjoy less buggy reality for a bit!

Nope, when i asked if Anet would provide an extra character slot so i could create a temp alt i just got a generic reply thanking me for updating my report, not sure they actually read my update, oh well.

It’s weird though, when talking about it in chat channels it seems so many have problems just now- Fractals not working, ppl not able to see guild rosters, players cannot use guild perks – .so much out of order, and still so little complaining about it on forums?

Sadly i think it’s because ppl don’t care much, if this had been SWG the community would have gone bonkers! Oh well, GW2 is just a game after all, not much use getting upset about it, i know- i should just get a life instead!

Well it’s not just me in guild having this problem, and since i founded our tiny nice lil guild when game started i’ve collected some influence…also ofc it’s players in other guilds too affected by this apparently. Thanks for replying though Champ!

I have gotten a reply from Support- they say the developement team are aware of the problem and working on it…..

Also i got advice that i could create a new alt character who could join guild and then be used transferring items in and out of the guild bank – sounds very promising huh?

But ok, i could do that ofc – will Anet provide a 9th character slot for me then…..? Not very likely no….

Ah well, let’s hope they just fix it!

I can’t get into our Guild bank, and same goes for the guildies i’ve talked to who has tried.

When asking in mapchat if any other players are having same problem i get replies stating that they have- not everyone it seems, but quite a few.

Someone said Anet broke something during maintenance, but if they did surely they should have informed about it on here? But apparently they’re not aware there is a problem, since they’re not announcing ongoing fixing of it.

Or, maybe it’s an account problem, since i of some reason cannot switch representing of Guild- at least not while i’m in Lions Arch that is?

I have sent in bug reports yesterday, and again today, and also sent an email to support today.

Haven’t found any other thread about this, if there is one please by all means flame away.

I must agree, it is nice with challenging content- overall the way the Sky Pirate event is set up with its achievements seriously stinks and i doubt it encourages most ppl to continue playing GW2, but it is nice with tough dungeon implemented.

Yeah it’s definetly not PvP this (i know that even if i’m not good at it lol), it’s really just sad.

Atm Underworld is winning the WvW, i guess that’s why the other decided they’d get their kills easier way by creating gank squad- i don’t think our fine server is top PvP server (i’m not much bothered about it myself) but these other guys must be even worse…hmm maybe this is a nice thing after all, giving ppl even noobier than myself some kills..

What an idiotic thing putting a cache deep into this jp- this contested jp that is…..yes it’ll be an achievement getting it ofc, but how many won’t get this because they can’t of some reason not get a into a group to get it- a group that can help you fight back the enemies in there.

And don’t expect the enemies to play fair just to let you get the Sky Pirate cache- myself just been wiped after some lowlife necro decided that it would be honorable to attack enemies equipped with torches standing up on pillars- what a joke… Ofc we had avoided attacking enemy players ourselves (we even had a couple up there among us that didn’t want to fight)- i’m a lousy pvp’er myself and just wanted this ill placed achievement, but i’m skipping it now, too annoying, and well- the rewards for the whole thing will be so common anyway, not much to miss out on really.

Yes, i know- this zone is a PvP zone, can’t really blame some enemy player for wanting cheap kills- maybe the poor guy can’t get them other ways or something, but it still is annoying…anyway, that’s the crying done, thank you Arenanet for this nice event….

Yup, happens to me too, on Underworld. So many of my guildies/buddies has issues playing GW2- crashes, connection errors, graphics bugs, and so on- so far game has ran great for me, but at the occasional errors like this i always pray it’s not some secret patch been launched that forever will make game as messy for me… fingers crossed

Why should you not be allowed to bump a recruitment thread on a recruitment forum? Or even take your time to write a new recruitment thread to post on the forum intended to have such on it? We’re very casual and it goes like a month before i get arsed updating our recruitment thread, so it’s really not biggest deal, but it is so dumb! Hmm i must be misunderstanding or overlooking something here, this all seems just too stupid to be true!

Not always reading through update notes too thoroughly – i like surprises (most often…) – i tried to update our old and very casual recruitment thread on here, typed and tried to submit a few times, getting weird error saying that i could not post in the thread…

But on here i got the explanation, and tbh i couldn’t imagine that Anet would come up with something this stupid, very disappointing!

I’ve leveled 7 characters/professions to 80 by exploring maps, starting with the lowest level ones and cities, then going through higher level ones, and for me this way works like clockwork.

Yup, i like most of the maps 7th time around- lucky me! My thief wasn’t very fun to play- not really figured out how i want to pay the prof yet even- and it’s the only one i’ve used crafting to level with- from 75 to 80… The elementalist i dunno, quite clueless about this one too, but suddenly she was 80! Not done a necromancer yet, but surely clearing maps- getting all POI’s Wp’s and area missions, + doing every event i stumble over- will work as smooth for this one!

I’ve not had much problems with scaling on maps- if i had then i’d just pop over somewhere else and get a level or two, then return to crush and conquer!

Well, this works fine for me- might be trickier if you actually have a life to live on the side….

“Limited time” or “limited sale”, who cares- most players shopping will believe they’re getting their hands on something special….

It’s very clever- claiming something is limited edition and/or sold just for a limited time, ofc that attracts ppl that believe they’ll get a special item that not everyone has or will be able to get, ofc more will buy these items when it’s possible.

Maybe it’s just as clever putting these items back up for sale a while later, selling a bunch more to the ppl that missed out first tim- ofc a few of those who bought the things first time out will feel cheated, but i guess it’s all about business in the end….

Myself i might buy stuff from gem store in future also, but i’m done with “limited time” gadgets- i’m actually thankful i learnt so early how this is run.

you know i played super meat boy i enjoyed it evantualy the difaculty got to be to much for me and i stoped haveing as much fun withit. I didnt go on the forums and raint and rave about it being to hard. the difficulty was exactly what it was ment to be i just wasnt up for it.

If any one of the players that cant do it need help im willing but dont try to change somthing that manny enjoy.

I think it is a pity that great instances disappear from game, so many miss out on good stuff from this, but….i like it also- if you jump on the game in the beginning and play it in a dedicated way then you’re not missing out on anything, because you were there to play it!

It is cool imo becoming a “veteran” than can say “yeah i got this odd item from XXXXXX event back in 20XX, awesome fun, you should’ve been there”- surely there are newer players just think it’s unfair, but- i was there, they weren’t!

Ah well, i am torn when it comes to this, it IS a pity not all get to have a go at fun stuff like this- can only hope Arenanet keeps the cool stuff coming so that new players also get their share of nice events.

Hej! May have missed out on you, but if you’ve found a nice guild already that is very good ofc. If not then maybe [SOD] could be an option- maybe we’re too small and too casual, but we’re working on it….in a quite relaxed way

Must say i took extra notice of your post since you’re swedish, i am too and a couple more of the guys also. But, we’re really an international guild ofc, and using english in chat and TS is default option- except for when we want to tease the UKanians! Usually backfires into swedish chef muppet jokes though….

Greetings! Continuing this intense recruiting- with a new post a month later, hmmm…. Well, things are going ok anyway, a couple really nice and mature players has joined since last post- ppl that are good chatting with in TS and also fun running dungeons with!

Still, could use a couple more folks of same type, to make sure we always can jump into dungeons or FoTM. After the previous week where many of us was out globetrotting at the same time of some odd reason this week has been nice, with finishing off dungeon paths and Fractalising on menu. Last night was fun, running both the new Flame and Frost “dungeon” again and after that Fractals- we had “too many” online so a couple stood back and went to level alt characters instead.

I guess that is also an issue- we’re really not looking for players that go crazy and ragequit if they cannot be in on this or that always- this guild/alliance is meant to be quite casual, nice and somewhat small- quality before quantity sort of, so a lil bit of patience will surely be needed now and then- that uber boring word “maturity” does comes to mind too… Well, myself i’ve never had a problem with handing my spot in group over to a buddy who needs it more, it’s my job tbh, and think that the rest of us think alike!

The 3 guilds i’m in on Underworld (EU)- the one i started at launch along with the 2 other i’m supporting- all show same depressing crap, also despite i’ve logged in multiple characters today influence hasn’t updated…it’ll be real interesting seeing Anet catch up on this.

At least they’ve showed they’re aware of the situation by announcing on forum/twitter that they’re working on it….ehmm….or not… :p

This post is 5 months old, and same thing happens to me today- good job Arenanet….
Had issues with non-existing guild bank and upgrades (according to the list) but never had so much bug out- the guild i’m GL in and the other 2 guilds i’m part of- cannot see any other members in their guild rosters, no influence gained, or upgrades.
I think this is really bad, and perhaps i’m the only one reacting to it this way, but to me too much crap like this will become a game breaker most likely.
For now i just hope the current situation gets straightened out really quick.

EDIT: “Good” seeing we’re not the only ones having this issue- i sincerely hope our guilds aren’t actually destroyed somehow, i cannot imagine Anet has failed THAT bad, but since many guilds are affected i hope we’ll have it sorted really quick.

Ok, since we’re not spamming chat with recruitment messages, or inviting any random player and his grandma to grow, we can’t expect to fill ranks very quick- that’s why we’re still in same situation:

Looking for a few more nice players to join us, no besserwisser hardcore pwnzors looking for dungeon speedruns only- casual normal ppl works just fine. We use TeamSpeak3 which makes instances so much easier to run, but it’s also nice just hanging out there….and if you’re not so much for talking that is ok ofc, feel free to listen in but type replies in chat instead- some of us rather babble than type though!

But yes, we’re still a work in progress- not that many members, ppl from different nations and timezones- myself i’m swedish but i’d find an all swedish guild no fun at all really- so often we get stuck not able to run dungeons because ppl aren’t online in numbers….

That’ll change if we become a few more so we’ll see how it goes! And as i’ve said earlier- if you want to equip guild armor emblem or check guild bank out then ofc you must represent guild, but more important is to just have more nice players around us so we can run stuff together- if someone wears [SOD] tag is not first priority- we can be your nice and friendly backup guild which you hang out with when you feel that your massive mega-main-guild with 400 members just is too crowded..

Woot! Updating thread 4 days later already? Yup, having a go at it since we’ve the last few days not run as much dungeons as we’d like due to being too few online…. Well, Achoo came online late last night to fill out party, and after helping him gear up his newbie lvl 80 a bit we ran a couple nice CoF runs, good fun!

But still, we are lacking a couple members really to be able to run instances more regularly, so i thought i’ll try getting kitten looking around for good ppl more often!

And still- stressed elitists that want speedruns only, and feel groups must be set up this or that way or not at all might just as well stay away- we’re more casual than that, wheee! Still, failure is rarely an option for us, but since we try to run what we brung rather than tell someone they’re the wrong prof we’ll accept some casualties and perhaps even wipes to get stuff done….that’s just how dedicated we are lol! Well, we still want ppl to have proper level depending on what we’re doing ofc, and in this or that dungeon you’re just not entering with all ranged/all melee groups- no need to be extra suicidal really…

Anyway, a couple ppl more to fill out ranks would be nice- attitude and somewhat mature social skills are important- and if you’re the shy type that just doesn’t always crash in and open up to new ppl instantly that is all good- and sometimes sign of good mental health! Hehe, we do however want all to hang in TeamSpeak for dungeons though, even if not chatting much….we have ppl for that, umm….

Update: Hmm…not so much has changed- we’re still not recruiting random ppl in the street…but the few of us are running dungeons more or less every day, with the occasional visit in WvW. We’ll look into Fractals soon we hope, but could use a couple more members really- as we are now we depend on same group of ppl always, and we’re having good fun tbh, but if someone has to play real life we may stand there unable to run dungeons….yes, we avoid picking up randoms if we can lol.

We’ll stay a small guild most likely, so don’t join us to get the new guild content quick hehe- we will get there in time ofc, but not let it stress us too much!

We’re now active players from Sweden, UK, Norway and USA, and anyone is welcome- we do want ppl to use TeamSpeak, but it is ok to just listen in…and a must for dungeons and such really.

This isn’t really a recruitment thread supposed to bring in loads of new ppl- i’m more hoping we can add some ppl to guild and friendslist, to make it easier getting harder stuff done- dungeons and whatnot….

Casual mature players that want to level up and grow into game with us are welcome to contact us and join our ranks- there are no rules you must represent or anything, it’d just be nice having more ppl with a nice attitude available to play with!

And if you’re already in another guild that’s ofc ok too- if [SOD] goes the way we want to we can in time perhaps become your main guild, and if not then you’ll surely be left with a few buddies to chat and play with when your main guild is quiet!

This is just an idea that may fall flat on its face lol, but i think it’s a good one still!

Oh yes btw- to communicate we ofc have a TS3 voice server up, and an enjin website we can use too.
