Dude, whatever you’re on, take less of it.
Haha… Dont talk about that when you dont know how kittening bonkers this matchup is. During the weekend we had periods of no commander on EB in the middle of primetime. Why? Because it wasnt needed. There where no enemies. Both Abba and Viz only nightcap. FSP has probably had 5x the commanders on borders.
That’s because there are no people left on Aba. The few remaining just don’t want to get farmed by servers that massively outnumber them and squeeze what little fun they can still get from wvw while being as efficient as possible.
In one patch, you effectively ruined Mesmers. Power mesmers? Gone. Play Chrono, or else…you’ve boxed Mesmers into a corner. How could you? You reduced the damage output of Mesmers by approx. 30-50%, yet you gave us nothing to fall back on that substantiates varied play styles.
I’m answering with an analogy on teef:
“You got portal tho”
But yeah, class balancing s horrible and made me quit as well.
As a defensive style player, I find it sickening that when we finally get a few builds that can stand up to the 1000 different builds that used to burn us down like newspaper, that there is so much kitting whining and sniveling.
You have a very strange understanding of class balance. If you really think being unkillable in 1v1 is ok (because hey, you died in a 3v1), if you really think (new) pets provide only mediocre damage (independantly from player stats), I will disregard any and all of your opinions from now on. Druids are the shining example of what’s wrong with this game: they get everything stuffed up their … , they are powercreep embodied. On top of ultra sustain and free dps, add loads of CC to the party (and great mobility in wvw). And the best: the class practically plays itself. It has everything that I despise in GW2 right now, were choices don’t matter because there is always that class that gets everything anyway.
Oh, plus a smoke field…
snip
So what I get is that you think nightcapping is unfair because you don’t outnumber the other servers with 60man roflstomping blobs at that time like the rest of the day?
Why is imbalance of population ok during day but not at night?
I don’t defend night capping but it doesn’t annoy me more than population issues during prime.
Trust me, it’s far funnier that you think the opposite. If you have problems killing and/or kiting npc while doing pvp you are doing it wrong. They are just extra bags of loot, the more the merrier. I’d totally welcome helicopters dropping loots bags into our zerg battles, our aoe would melt everything.
You didn’t get the point of his argument…
Enjoy your dying game mode.
snip
Number 4 is a good suggestion, but the rest is more pve that can be exploited by bigger servers disproportionally better than by smaller servers, stuffing even more steamroll-y goodness into wvw.
Welcome to Abaddon. We had a massive efflux of guilds a couple of weeks ago and were pitted against rank 6, 7 and the likes afterwards. So we had less manpower against bigger servers, which leads to fewer and fewer people actually wanting to play wvw here.
I don’t get the hate on meta builds just because they are meta either, however you should hate them because most of them are overly reliant on passives, way too forgiving and easy to play.
Most people don’t hate meta builds out of elitism but for the fact that it narrows a game with lots of customization options to a tiny subset of combinations that you have to play to be competitive. The fact that most current meta builds are not only the best choice (which always exists) but shamelessly overpowered and passive adds to this. There is simply no fun in playing against players when you will be continuously beaten by the game mechanics, not the player.
Meta builds suck because they eliminate the aspect of comparing skill between players in this game. Sure, some people will “play to win” and will be satisfied by their positive pvp stats but many people enjoy the confrontation more than the outcome in pvp.
Thieves, the biggest whiners of all in this game. Go play some other game.
Why should I whine? As I have every class on 80, I can hop on the newest cheese after every patch with ease and that is exactly what I do (with druid+smokescale+bristleback being no exception).
Why do you think I would waste my scarce freetime playing classes that are trampled on? I may switch to classes that are effective, but unlike many people I don’t confuse my cheesy victories with skill.
Elite on a 10 sec CD, insane damage output through pets while also having insane sustain, (very) good mobility. Druid gets it all.
I wonder what leas Anet to that design choice while also denying thief any sustain because it does damage.
I think you missed the part where the bristleback can’t dodge or use any defensive skills at all. It can’t even remove conditions from itself. Want to kill the pet? Drop a condi bomb on it. The ranger basically has to switch out or it goes on a 60 second cooldown.
There is more to survival than numbers.
But of course that’s inconvenient to the point you’re trying to make.
So on top of OP damage output, the pet can force redirected condi bombs on a 15 sec cooldown that would otherwise hit the ranger. Got it. Totally balanced.
lol this is a major l2p issue…there r reflects blocks ..weakness? dodgedip?duckdive….dodge???
did u stand still n say oooo shower me wit ur spikes ol bristleback
l2p before u post
So can I have my 15k backstabs back, then?
When I think of a staff, my mind instantly goes towards a caster class, druid, sorcerer, elementalist etc etc. Not a thief.
Little John would like to have a word with you.
Nope. No more power creep. Shave other classes massively until they are in line with teef and war.
Praise Dwayna.
I like the change to CoR, very elegant. I assume the fact that the list is rather short means you guys take a more iterative approach to balancing?
Clones and phantasms are hollow. Mesmers that shatter on their location are shattering a clone that is around them like a second skin, not themselves.
Yup. That’s why a bomb vest is totally safe for the user…
Anywy, to recapitulate: mechanics overrule lore, except if lore can kitten up teefs.
Seriously, why are you guys surprised?
Running really fast was the last thing teef was good in, so naturally, anet had to reduce access to swiftness.
Can people have more autism than this forum? Why is it that everytime you disagree, you always attack the person? If you can’t discuss, get out, if you can’t behave like an adult, also get out. Attack his or her statements, not the person h*mself. Just my two cents to keep this thread alive and hopefully people will get better
Dude, I’m old as kitten, you might have missed that I indeed attacked your statement. However, since your initial post lacks any form of self-reflection regarding you suffering from the very same psychological phenomenon that you attribute to others, I’m going ad hominem indirectly, I guess.
wall of text written after reading wikipedia
I assume you are one of the good players, right? One that is so good that he doesn’t have to listen to all The stoopid baddies.
I think they shouldn’t. But more importantly, Anet should harmonize what happens when you teleport over fields. As of now, you trigger bad effects and teleport over beneficial stuff like swiftness fields of mesmers.
You guys missed it. How do you dodge rapid fire in OPEN field? If you guys understand what open field is ofc.
Why dodge? Tripwire+steal if he has no stability, shadowstep behind him, daggerstorm…
Rapdidfire doesn’t come with evade, you know.
4. How to beat UA. Retaliation works wonders, as does blocks, and a simple double dodge will make nearly all a revenants damage go bye bye. You then have 12 seconds to take them down, watch for there heal, lay off for 3 seconds and finish them.
Whenever someone tells you to double-dodge an attack that has a 12 sec cooldown you know he’s full of …
I’d kill someone with one of those spoons for the opportunity to trade them in.
Why do other classes keep coming in here asking how to defeat us? why not ask that in your own forum? and why do you guys keep giving them advice on how to defeat you? honestly it makes no sense….
Because sportsmanship?
Because fun?
Because it’s a freakin’ game?
The example you gave uses 100 different possible outcomes whereas our problem only has two. It’s not the same. Also, to reiterate, time span doesn’t matter if the chance to percentage is reapplied each action.
In a jar are 100 M&Ms. There are two kinds: your tasty regular M&M and cyanide pills with an M on them. You are forced to eat one (two outcomes: you live or die). Do you want to be 51 regular M&Ms in there or 99?
Spears + Varesh Ossa
Cmon, all the strong classes now cleave like hell and use lots of AOE/ fields.
You just discovered the actual problem…
With less abundant AoE spam, the micromanagement would be suffcient. Pathfinding could be better and I would like to have a “disengage” f5, but that’s about it
It’s to make up for the fact that rangers are the only class that can have their profession mechanic shut down for 60 seconds by an opposing player.
Mesmer Class mechanics can be shut down with AoEs, Warrior/Teef class mechanic can be shut down with dodge/(interrupts) etc.
Ranger Class mechanic can be shut down with 15-30 k damage that the player doesn’t eat. Higher cd sounds fair to me
Ive had success vs all average thieves and the better ones (the rare) on a GS / Mace&Shield build, (…)
This. Add brawler’ recovery and (d/p) teefs become a minor annoyance. However, don’t bother trying to chase them.
Aye, totally in favor of removing any and all Z-axis teleports. That would finally allow teef to be stronk in actual PvP again and would remove free out-of-jail cards that only certain classes have access to.
Not sure if adding additional Z-axis movement on other classes would be good, though. The ability to ignore map layout is basically the same as removing all maps except for an empty flat area.
snip
Teef hate has finally reached ridiculous mass…
The GW2 community has turned the class into an annonying but harmless mosquito that has only it’s mobility. Now you want to take the last remaining task off PvP’s waterboy.
How do you imagine a thief class that is on par and unique with the rest of the classes?
(…), thief does not simply walk into melee fight.
Or ranged fights. Or fights against condi users. Meh, just quit this whole fighting thing completely. After all, it’s not a big part of PvP anyway.
A beefed up Shadow Refuge as an elite would actually be kinda awesome, and offer more build options. Right now, it’s pretty much Basilisk or bust
Nope. Trapper Runes + P/P + Ambush + Thieves Guild. Call in your posse and /whisper “You came to the wrong turf , bro!” Now you’re thinking with gang crime.
It’s an elite skill with 180sec cd. Meant to be game changing. You basically take one perso n out of a fight for 10 sec. If it gets dodged/blocked/blinded, then it’s a huge loss for the mesmer.
Meanwhile, teef gets Thieves Guild on the same cooldown…
meanwhile SR asks for 4 seconds of your time to get you 12s of untampered stealth, all while pulsing about 2k health per second (which also heals downed allies).
How do you squeeze the ~7000 healing power in your build to do this?
It’s Anet’s new matchmaking system that prevents class stacking . Tough time to be the meta²-class…
P/P is actually one of the weakest builds at top tier when considering theif builds.
No one ever claimed it was strong. But it’s kitten funny and since teefs are the court jesters for the real classes, being funny is all we can get out of the game right now.
You know the GW2 playerbase, they’re not happy with “just run away”
I wonder if those are the same people that are defending the current thief meta of running around in circles really fast and being unable to actually fight stuff in pvp.
Tested Monsoon during Beta, looked Bo-tastic and is cheap.
A cast time would make this most useless. What about leaving it instant cast but give the skill itself a cast time like it charges up a purple glow on the Mesmer that then stuns the target. Or something easier, like turn it into an instant cast projectile? That way it’s like ele arcane bolt. Fast moving, instant cast, but it does have counterplay. Then have slightly different shades of pink/purple for pain and powe spike.
This. You heard the man, Anet. Change it accordingly.
Man, most of you guys are so salty :P I guess you guys prefer the braindead playstyle couryards offer.
People offered you several reasoned arguments that contradict your opinion in a polite and grown up discussion.
And your best comeback are insults and simplifying assumptions?
Definitely a lot of improvement since the last beta, dodges and also staff skills feel a lot more smooth now. I would love to see the leap finisher of dash (and keep blast on bound) but that might be a bit too much.
However, Acrobatics becoming obsolete is an elephant in the room. With Daredevil taking the place of evasive gameplay, Acrobatics could be turned into something that synergizes more with all playstyles instead of opening one of its own.
(…) then I saw that the Daredevil’s new icon is a shoe with a wing on it
suddenly they seem to have gotten loose
xD Awesome trolling. At least now we have it confirmed by the devs that running around in circles really fast is teef’s class skill.
Somehow when other classes were UP their forums didn’t have the majority telling people to just quit. You really haven’t been UP for that long compared to some other classes and they’ve already shown buffs for Thief, yet somehow you have the audacity to claim that Thief is neglected and that hopelessness is an everyday state. Frankly how easily you make the switch to another class shows just how much you care about Thief.
Why should I insist on being dead weight for my team/server when I can also wipe the floor with people as mesmer/ele?
I have maining thief until february or so through countless nerfs, I didn’t switch easily. But in the end of the day, GW2 is a game. I switched because I cannot see the fun in clinging to the carcass of a class in the faint hope that it will be playable again in the future. Why should I waste my spare time with being beaten/useless when I could also enjoy being able to contribute or beating people in 1v1?
Community asked for tweaks/QoL enhancements and now for mere viability of the thief class for years. Nothing ever happened aside from more nerfs.
I’m not whining. I just changed class and I advise everyone to do the same.
Couple weeks ago, a Perma-Stealth Thief had prevented us- about 10 players from taking a supply camp. Some of us thought it was a hacker until the thief was killed by another Perma Stealth Thief from our party. The Thief who killed the enemy thief said that the thief was a trapper thief.
It only took about 3 minutes for the trapper thief to kill 9 of us until it was finally killed by our trapper thief.
Slowmelt: i agree with you 100%. So that is why i no longer blame thief players for being toxic to the game. I don’t even blame thief players for being responsible for the game losing sales and players leaving anymore.
Thief players are not the one who design or program themselves with very limited builds. It is Arena net who is responsible for refusing to give them diversity builds with skill play
Last, again, the only solution to make Thief profession be diverse and be skill-play is for the game to have a New Team with a New Leader who believe in challenge, risk-reward, hard-work, effort, skill-play and fun for their professions.
That is all.
This is either a blatant lie or the best comedy gold gameplay ever done in GW2
F4: Shadow Realm
Enter a realm of shadows that serves as a safe location.
There will be cookies. There will be chocolate.
There will be tiny thief-dolls to describe where other classes pawned you the hardest.
And this will be my new sign with you permiss sir.
I’m honored
