Seems to me that a lot of people just dunno how to handle being attacked by the mob. There’s been times where I’m the focus of the mob for an entire boss fight, and other times not at all.

It happens to all of us. We just don’t make a big deal out of it.

I disagree with what you say, OP. The majority of people I’ve encountered in pug groups do not think the dungeons should be made easier.

Now, I’m not saying that they say the dungeons should be harder, but they are absolutely fine with the dungeons the way they are.

To be honest, the only dungeon I’ve ever had trouble with was AC explorable.

Everything else I have finished (always with pug groups) on our first run through, with only a few deaths here and there.

I think dungeons are made to be a challenge of skill. Sure, you can zerg a dungeon, dying and dying and dying, but you end up losing more silver than you make in the end.

I am perfectly content with the difficulty of dungeons the way it is right now, and hope that they don’t not change this in the future.

I’d rather not see everyone running around wearing the same exotic dungeon armor because it was accessible to everyone with no difficulty.

I would rather see people get better with their classes, learn which skills they are best with/which skills are best for the role they want to play/which skills are best for dungeon, and overcome dungeons that way.

I think the majority of people complained at launch that dungeons were too hard, and now that most of us have learned how to play our chars better, have no issue with it.

Now I feel as though it’s a minority of people complaining that dungeons are too hard and that they are the vocal ones, not the other way around.

Please don’t nerf the dungeons so that it’s a cake walk. Without those, the only challenge in the game will be pvp, and you need to have a good balance between both.

I personally think ele’s are underwhelming when it comes to damage. Mine is at 80 and I feel underpowered. I don’t have the top #1 tier gear in the game, but anything more than 2 mobs gives me a run for my money in Orr.

Are guardians better at getting and holding aggro than warriors?

in Players Helping Players

Maverick.6485

If you check the topic , you can easily get why i sentenced it like that. Also what i meant there , that the game has no “aggro” mechanics for building/getting aggro.Creating a simple sentence doesnt fill it up with simple meanings. When i do dungeons with my warrior there is no guarantee that i get the bosses’ attention. They sometimes hit to me , sometimes to a ranged class sometimes to a thief.

{better at ’’getting’’ and holding aggro}

To be honest, I didn’t easily get that at all. That was even less than a simple sentence. I don’t even think it was a complete one.

If you attack a mob, you get aggro. Getting and holding aggro are very different things. This game doesn’t have the same type of system holding aggro, but getting aggro by attacking a mob that’s just sitting there is always the same.

Since the game first came out. You’re confusing the game not having aggro with not HOLDING aggro.

Well, it seems like someone likes to hear/see themselves talk/type. Next time just stick with the TL;DR part, as that is the size of a normal post in itself and all you needed to say. :P

Anyway, I agree to this to an extent. No one should purposefully be trying to grief other players using this. That’s a big no no.

On the other hand, If I don’t feel like wasting silver to go to a way point nearby, I AM going to run to it. It’s not like I’m trying to gather mobs on my way, but it’s bound to happen that at least a few will get aggro’d. To be frank with you, I’m not going to stop and fight each one that gets aggro’d.

I’m also the person who will stop and help if they see someone downed/ obviously losing a fight against a mob/mobs so I’m not a selfish guy. However, I’m not going to make sure every mob I aggro isn’t going to be a threat to someone else.

I guess it’s a line in the sand that should be drawn, and people should be aware of it. So in other words, don’t do it purposefully, and if you happen to see like 8+ mobs trailing you, THEN try to lose them without any players near by.

1-2? If another player can’t handle that, go back to a lower zone and gear up. :P

Permabans are a bit serious. It’s a hard line to draw in the sand. I’d personally say ban them for a week or two. That is a very long time to people who play constantly.

Also, I’m in no way bothered by what you say, Ominous. I just personally think there was a better way to address what was bothering you.

So When am I going to not be punished for not exploitting COF ?

Maverick.6485

Well think of it this way. If these people don’t want to group with you because you don’t want to exploit the dungeon, and they tell OTHER people who don’t want to group with you because we can assume THEY want to exploit the dungeon, why would you want to group with them anyway? Whether they tell people or not, they only people who won’t want to group with you are people who are using the exploit.

However, to say that you’re being punished isn’t true. You’re obviously venting right now, and I understand that, but if I were you I’d take this opportunity to see WHO uses exploits and put them on ignore, because I personally can’t stand people who do stuff like that, and wouldn’t want to group with them on any occasion.

Anet has been very good about listening and fixing so far, so we just have to wait.

I could have misheard, and this is not answering your question, but I think I heard that if you keep doing the same story mode/finish a dungeon under 30 mins/do the same EM branch again and again, the rewards get smaller. I know it’s off topic but I say this because this might be pointless if rushing through the dungeon works against you.

Odd, I can’t quote people for some reason. Anyway,

Parrk, I have to disagree with you when you say that Gw2 content isn’t difficult.

Compared to what most have experienced in other MMOs, this game is mega hard. That being said, it is in NO way impossible and you are completely right when you say (paraphrasing) that it’s the player and not the class.

But to say that the content isn’t difficult isn’t quite spot on.

Man, people always want things to be easier. Jeebus forbid you have to put a little planning into what skills you want to use in a dungeon. I’m very glad that the dungeons are as “hard” as they are now. I hit level 80 recently, and the dungeons are a great way to constantly work on becoming a better player.

I honestly DON’T think a pug group should be able to burn through it unless they are all highly skilled players. If you’re serious about running these dungeons a lot, find a group of players/friends you can use voice chat with and learn to work together as a team. I don’t want care bear dungeon runs that are in most MMOs.

Infact, I’d like it if the boss fights were harder, or like the Anet rep said, more varied. The boss fights seem much easier in comparison to the mobs you fight to get there.

Also, would you guys really want to see 70% of the people running around in dungeon gear? I think it’s great that getting that gear actually shows that you toughed it out.

So guys, don’t complain, just get better at the game.

P.S. One thing I would suggest is making CM the first dungeon, as CM is in my personal opinion 10 times easier/shorter than AC. It would be much better intro into how this game does dungeon crawling.

Forced to kitten DPS.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Maverick.6485

Ok one of the biggest gripes i had over other traditional theme park MMOs was the entire kittenery that persisted. The 3rd party mods that tracked your DPS or HPS.

GW2 offered for me hope to avoid this happening, but instead it has shoehorned all players into DPS only when it comes to events. The only way you get contribution in DEs is by DPS, if i take the time to revive someone i risk not getting a gold medal for the event. This is wholly wrong if the intent from ANet was for the players to be cooperative and play in a more group minded mentality.

As it is i would prefer a larger support role in the game, no i am not expecting to be just a healer or just a buffer, but i want to get credit for assisting my community not just by massive DPS all the time. It will get to the point where no one wants to revive another in the middle of combat because its not helping you get credit for the end of the event.

If i am keeping others up from downed state, alive from heals, deflected damage from blocking, and making them more effective from my boons i am applying, i should get credit for that also, not just from attacking. This all smacks as a huge discrepancy on ANet’s behalf.

This is 2012, there have been lots of games where the players contribute to the team by not just doing damage, and they get compensation for there efforts. When we didn’t we made it an issues and it got changed, why was this not implemented prior to release ?

Not matter what anyone of you say, this is an issues that needs to be addressed by someone from ANet, not ignored and relegated to the back burner.

Dradin, I’m somewhat in the same boat as you, wanting to be a support class. However, I’ve managed to rez multiple people and still get a gold medal for events. If I were you, I’d drop an aoe, doesn’t have to be that powerful, to at least tag a bunch of mobs, then go about healing. I haven’t run into any issues where I felt like I deserved a gold and didn’t get it.

Heck, I’ve gotten a gold for hitting the last mob twice or so in events before. I feel as though Anet is EXTREMELY generous in giving us credit/gold medals.

The only thing endgame is lacking

2 things:

  • dungeon finder
  • limit the number of players in WvW to the number the lowest server has in WvW

If they would do that people would have something to do untill they release new content but right now WvW is frustating and creating a dungeon group takes an imense amount of time like back in 2004.

I thought they had a level cap for WvW?

Also, I wonder about lowering the amount of “tokens” it costs for exotic armor. I did quick math (so may be wrong) but I think you’d have to do AC explorable mode over 30 times to get a full set of that gear, of which stats aren’t very good so it would be for looks alone. Then again you don’t want to see everyone running around in it..

While in dungeons, maybe raise our magic find x100 or something? Again, just brainstorming here. Or maybe certain dungeon specific items have a small chance of dropping only in that specific dungeon.

Group finder would be great, so i’m not spending 4s to go to a dungeon just to find out no one is interested in doing it at the moment.

How GW2 could've been good

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

This post isn’t well thought out at all.

“* Waypoints are often contested

  • Few people in high-level zones compared to low-level zones
  • Most events impossible to solo"

This might be because you leveled to 80 within a week? Not everyone has power leveled. That’s why waypoints are contested. That’s why there are fewer people. That’s why you have to attempt events solo.(which it’s not really meant to be, unless you’re extremely good at your profession."

“* Dungeon grinds are inane

  • Exploration modes are frustrating, not challenging
  • Dying as an inherent game mechanic just doesn’t work, nor does it feel right
  • Revisiting old content is not end-game, the fact that your level scales down just adds insult to injury"

Dungeon grinds are in every game. Exploration mode IS challenging, don’t expect to group with random people and blow through it. It’s for focused groups who use voice chat and work well together. Dying isn’t an inherent game mechanic just because you personally die a lot. That’s just a reflection of your skill. There are 5 starter zones. It’s not revisiting old content just because it’s below your level. There is a huge map out there.

“* The ridiculous downing mechanic is just that: ridiculous

  • CC, in turn, is almost always used to prevent rezzing
  • There is no depth to the game when everyone uses their stuns or knock-backs only in one specific scenario
  • WvWvW is stupid for melee (you just get blown up), but sort of fun for ranged classes
  • PvP balance is all over the place right now (although this will hopefully get fixed)"

Downing is an amazing feature, and those who know how to use it well realize it’s not over when you’re downed. This game would be much more boring if you went straight to death. There’s skills that make it so you can’t be interrupted/cc’d. Also, It’s very easy to rez people when in a group of good players, I have a skill that lets me rez 3 people at once. People use stuns/knockbacks ALL the time. That doesn’t even make sense. WvWvW is great for melee if you’re good with it. As a ranged, I fear them. The game is brand new, of course it needs balence.

“* 15 dollars a month. Sorry ANet, but if you want to consistently dish out manageable updates, you need the income (and many, including myself, are more than willing to pay)

  • Use the trinity – your system looks good on paper, but it’s a disaster in practice (anyone that’s done exploration mode dungeons can attest to this)
  • Dying is not a game mechanic – dying should be a bad thing. You should not be allowed to come back to finish a boss fight after you died.
  • Underwater exploration is fun, but underwater combat is stupid (no, really, it is). Blizzard’s blunder with Vashj’ir should’ve taught you this.
  • You need end-game progression. You really do. However, I do realize that a lack of end-game is a consequence of not paying 15 dollars a month."

You have no idea how much content will come out, and suggesting that we pay a sub without knowing that is foolish. The non holy trinity system works great IF you are a good player. Most people are sick of the trinity system. You don’t decide whether or not dying is a game mechanic, but yet again, if you’re good, that won’t happen often. Underwater combat is exactly like land combat, only adding vertical movement. Just because other games did end game the same way as eachother, doesn’t mean this game doesn’t have it’s own form of end game. Try to get legendaries, exotic armor/weapons, map completion.

All in all, it seems like you really have NO idea what you’re talking about. It sounds as though you’re just bad at this game, a game that takes a lot of skill to be good at, and you’re blaming it for being different from the old “Stand toe to toe with mobs and spam 3 buttons”. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but bashing it without thinking things through is ignorant.

Well unfortunately, since it’s 25%, you could technically salvage 1,000 times and not get a rare, since it’s 25/100 chance every time. It doesn’t add up the more you salvage, or make it more likely to get a rare.

Dungeon Zerging = Fun & Challenge Killer

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Maverick.6485

Maverick.6485

I’m really surprised I can’t find others complaining about this. The only few dungeons I’ve done were really challenging and pretty hilarious with a group of friends. But, just zerging any bosses that are at all challenging completely ruins it.

What do I mean by zerging? Dying repeatedly at a boss and just being able to instantly WP travel and run back to the fight, while whoever is left keeps them busy in the mean time. Why it was decided/left to be like this is so confusing to me. It really turns otherwise challenging dungeon bosses into mindless charging. I just…can’t personally explain why it’s like this.

I remember once so far it was pretty much impossible for my group to use this strategy. Wasn’t a boss, but traps + ranged mobs waiting on a choke point. My team was actually forced to sit and strategize and actually change some skills/weapons to be able to do it! Probably my best dungeon moment so far.

Before it’s brought up. “Just don’t do it” Doesn’t quite work either. It’s there, it’s going to be used by anyone. Dungeons are supposed to be ragetasticly hard and this just almost completely removes that element. I know it’s not supposed to be an integral part of dungeons either. Everything is possibly without dying, just hard, but not hard thanks to this. It really is just being used as a crutch and the possibly unique rewards from dungeons aren’t going to be worth akitten

This is hard for me, because on one end the dungeons are pretty darn hard, not so much skill wise but memorizing the quick animations bosses make for each skill, also trying to watch this through a spell storm from your group mates.

On the other hand, I do agree that mindless zerging takes the challenge out of it.

I’m not sure what could be implemented to help polish this, because if there’s a lock out timer, people would never want to bring people new to the dungeon along, and a new group would get murdered for a very long time, spending a lot of silver to repair, even more than what some are spending now.

Now I know the dungeons are beatable, I just four manned AC last night ( might not seem much to you guys but I was pretty proud since one guy was new to the dungeon), but that doesn’t mean they are a walk in the park.

You have to find that fine line between the challenge being ruined and people rage quitting.

I know a lot of people want to say "The heck with those people who give up " but they DO make up a lot of the current players, and we should never want to say players leave.

The only idea I can think of is to maybe raise repair prices per person more and more as people die, not locking people out, but causing them to take pause and think things through.

Again, just an idea, and sorry for rambling.

Blows everything else out of water? Son let me tell you of this game called Lineage 2… We would spend weeks and months leveling characters and using a whole clan to kill a raid to get ONE item for ONE character. This raid is a world raid you have to fight other clans over which only spawns once every 2 weeks and takes 2 hours to kill IF you win the PVP. Everyone also have to have an item they have to do quest for in order to enter the world boss. Well there are plenty of those items in the game and they arekittenneeded unlike the stuff in GW2 which is just there for the looks afaik.

Too bad lineage 2 was awful.

Personally I’m glad it takes it this long. It’s much better than everyone running around with the same “legendary” weapon. Kinda takes the legendary out of it.

btw i’m gonna get ’em all by tonight >_>;

I know it’s a grind, but the exotic dungeon armors look absolutely incredible.

You can check them out in Lion’s Arch next to the Asura Gates, there’s like 8 vendors or so. The rubbish gear is on the first bag/tab per vendor, but the exotic gear is on the second.

You probably know but just incase you don’t, you can preview armor by right clicking on it and selecting preview.

Also, those armor vendors are actually wearing the exotic armor, so you can get a feel for how it looks. Only problem is some of them are wearing the light armor, some medium, and some heavy. But still, it’s something!

I played the original Guild Wars when it first came out years ago and never really liked it much, but then again about that time I was experiencing severe MMO burn out having played just about everything from The Realm – UO – WOW and then some.

I did recently try going back into Guild Wars and and play my account , but so far I still can’t because I’m waiting for Ncsoft to get my account back in order so I can play it?

Anyways I decided to buy this game and today I played it for the first time on the new PC I just built(AMD FX-6100, XFX Double D 2GB HD7850, 8GB Gskill Ram etc etc), and I love the way the game looks and feels to a point, but so far I find the controls very hard to get used to (and I’m using a G13 game pad), and trying to figure out what to do, when and where and I keep having this stupid window pop up telling me something about I can travel now or get back in the queue (and I didn’t even do anything to want to travel anywhere).

I’m also finding the targeting system hard to get used to (Playing an elementalist right now), the merchant is hard to figure out as well as some other things. The worst part for me so far is the way the quests are given. I find it hard to see what to do, where to do it and when they are done, then I can’t figure out what I get for a reward and how do I get that reward?

So if someone could give me a brief run down of how to play the game in a few easy words that would be great. I have been out of MMO’s for quite awhile, but I didn’t have this much trouble playing Rift(leveled 4 toons up to 60 then got bored) or Diablo III even though I know D III is not really an MMO.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT putting guild Wars 2 down at all, I’m just looking for help trying to play the game while having fun doing so is all.

Thanks

Hey, I didn’t want to bother reading all this since I’m at work, and I’m guessing this has already been said, but just in the small case it hasn’t, the #1 tip I can give you is to join a guild with great people.

I am in love with my elementalist. I think so much that I may have spoiled other classes for myself.

The reason I say this is because instead of pressing a button to switch my weapons, I switch between 4 elements, and have 5 skills for each element.

Then I switch my weapon when out of combat, and have yet again the 4 elements with 5 skills for each element.

So many skills! I worry now that I will get very bored with any other class. I hope I’m completely wrong though. :P

Anyway, I would highly recommend the Ele if you haven’t tried it out yet. They are VERY versatile, (I know all classes are, but I personally feel Eles more so), ranging from long range support/aoes/dots all the way to close ranged agile dps.

I haven’t tried fooling around with a tank build yet, but if it were possible, it’d be more of an avoiding attacks rather than sucking up damage (Could be wrong but that’s my experience) using shields, turning into mist thus taking no dmg and breaking out of stuns, etc.

So! I guess that’s my opinion, but as you can see I’m a little biased. I hope you end up really enjoying whatever it is you choose! (unlessitsnottheele)

Oh yeah, and elementalist dungeon armor looks AMAZING!!!

Also, the end level utility skill, needing 30 skill points to unlock, turning into a tornado and shocking/blinding mobs while knocking them down if you get too close!! Amazing!!

I’m not positive, but I think the way to upgrade is one of two things. Either put a bunch of runes into the mystic forge and hope for the best, or get another of the same rune, and put it in a different armor slot. It will give you the second set bonus, i.e. 1/2, 2/2

Then again I could be completely wrong and there COULD be a way to upgrade them. That’s just what I know so far.

they have to remove some NPCs from all maps which are absolutely useless at wvwvw for start with (also knows as banks, even the ones inside everything except the guild ones) TPs (what you go to sell stuff in wvwvw?), for the queue, either increase the cap or add mode maps with increased cap, ofc who knows how hard can be to do this iam not a programer.

but the game has been out already for a while, no point to a lvl 1 char with no traits, skills, and lvl 1 wep to go vs exotics.

btw this should be moved to the new wvw place

People at level 1 with level 1 gear should ALWAYS be allowed in Wvw with everyone else. Most of the time they’ll see that they have a small impact and leave, coming back later at higher levels.

Part of this game is that everyone can PVP with everyone else regardless of level. This should never be changed, regardless if you’ve shot to level 80 asap and farmed for gear. That’s your problem, not their’s.

Also, kicking people who haven’t fought for a while is ridiculous, as there are more things to do in the WvW maps.

Last but not least, kicking people who have been in town too long won’t work either, as they can just step out of town and step back in, if they are doing it purposefully anyway.

I’m not saying WvW can’t use improvements, but I think all of these ideas are completely wrong.

I don’t think a specific event is going to give you more loot than another. Are you asking what the longest event is? If so, I’m not sure on that.

However, the more players at the event, the more mobs show up. So if you can get 20 people, a TON more mobs will show up than if it was just you, and as long as you tag (hit once) the mobs, you have a chance of getting loot. Just drop aoes on them, don’t worry about doing the most damage to a mob, as that doesn’t matter.

How are Dungeons meant to be played?

Doing dungeons on Exploration mode is even worse. Instancing and PvE is the worst balance i have ever seen in a mmo. It’s probably going to improve but as of now i can not even remotely think of anything so bad as GW2 is in pve instances.

Moving around is important too, not just stand around and take punishment, but when someone with a toughness build gets 1shotted by a silver mob, it’s just bad development, not the players fault toughness serves no purpose.

I don’t think the balance is bad. I think it’s just incredibly hard. However, it’s much easier if you’re using voice chat with people you know. I would much rather this than another game in which dungeons are incredibly easy and we get bored instantly.

This game easily gives you the tools you need to burn through dungeons. It’s just finding the right group of people who know how to use them as well as you do.

And like i said, you can also spend no money and wait to trade gold/silver for gems. It’s actually very generous of Anet to allow this. Most games make you buy their cash shop currency, without giving you the option to trade in game currency for it.

So the steps are…

1.) Using either a CC/(or gift card that can be used as a CC), OR saving enough in game money, use either of these to purchase gems.

2.) Use gems to purchase the deluxe upgrade.

Simple.

I’m also on Tarnished Coast. My main character’s name is Quicklen. We have a great small guild which is full with very helpful members at all levels. Feel free to msg me on Quicklen if you’re interested in joining and having some friends to level with/ help give advice!

(P.S. Joining the guild isn’t mandatory, if you’re just looking for some friends to level with, that’s perfectly fine too!)

How to block??

You can also dodge by double tapping the movement keys (ASDW). So you can roll in any direction.

As for block, there is no passive block mechanic. There is a boon called Aegis, which will block the next incoming attack. So the “blocks” you see are probably from that. Guardians have a few skills that an grant Aegis reliably, not sure about other classes.

I would highly suggest that you bind dodge to a different key however. I think it’s also bound to V by default.

The reason I say this is because double tapping causes you to pause for a split second between taps, and that could make all the difference in a heated fight.

I’ve actually bound dodge to a button on my mouse by my thumb, as I personally had the problem of hitting the wrong button instead of V, usually bringing up the world vs world menu in the middle of combat _.

Also, there’s an option in the “options” menu that lets you turn off double tap completely. I did this because of accidentally dodging when trying to do jump puzzles. Stinks when you’re trying to move slightly, and instead roll off some jump puzzle to your death :X

How to get to Traveler's Loft

I dunno if this helps, but I’ve noticed some POI’s/vistas are gotten to by going to a different zone, one next to it, and taking a cave, tunnel, blah blah, back into the zone you’re trying to get to. It was the only way I could get to some PoI’s/vistas

I have no idea how to level.

Here, I just posted this in a different one. Crafting is KEY!

Definitely Definitely craft. You’ll be VERY surprised at how much xp you get.

Also, remember that the trick to crafting is discovery, not production. You get a boat load of XP discovering new recipes.

For example, in leatherworking, I’d take Glove linings, a glove strap, and then an insignia, put them together in the discovery box, and BOOM, lots of xp. Then do it again with a different insignia.

Don’t forget that you can also salvage most weapons/armor you get. I always carry 2 or 3 salvage kits in my pack, and salvage everything I get (unless I need money), and then I depost all those materials in my collection.

They just added a feature that lets you craft without taking the items you’ve put in your collection out and putting them in your inventory.

But you DO need to put items you want to use for discovery into your inventory for them to be able to be used in the discovery tab.

Also, spending some silver on the TP to get materials you need is a great way to boost your crafting level.

You can also switch crafts anytime you want, without losing your level in the original craft. However, it does cost some silver (probably depending on your craft’s level) to switch back, and a bunch of the crafts use the same material (i.e. wood or ore) But it’s a great way to get some more XP if you’ve run out of specific mats for the current crafting you’re doing.

Last but not least, you can search for guides for the specific craft you have chosen at the time and they are really great in telling you exactly how many materials and what materials you need to get from say, 1-75 in that craft’s level.

I have no idea how to level.

Target of Target

Yeah it’s kinda tough at first. I also do as Cosmatman said. Also, it takes doing dungeons a couple times to see what attacks the bosses do, and who it hits depending on where he’s facing. It gets easier once you get to know the bosses animations as well.

It’s a little bit tougher in this game due to how fast the combat is, and all the spell effects from your group mates. So like I said before, doing this dungeons over and over again really help you figure out who the boss is attacking.

End game content doesn't necessarily mean pve grind.

Well, you guys have to remember that this isn’t like other MMOs where you just complete quests(hearts) then move on.

You really want to try and hit up as many events as you can. These give you TONS of experience. Also, PVP, WvWvW, and crafting all give you tons of experience as well. As does exploring and map completion.

So you really can’t just focus on the hearts as if they are quest hubs.

If you REALLY want to do it that way, you can go to the other starter zones, since you get scaled down, and complete those hearts.

Also there are other zones that are your level, say 15-20. Not just one.

Hope some of this helps.

Surprised to see this much about ele.
Lets recap on ele

Best healing and group healing in the game= CHECK
High Multi-role capability = CHECK
More base toughness and HP then a thief = CHECK

I will give you a few hints. For SPVP and WVWVW.
Build for Air and Earth and rest into water or fire.

Air and extreme mobility, you have more mobility then a thief (supposed to be most mobile class in game laugh), you have the crit and the nice damage channel attack depending on weapon, as well as a sick BLIND. Also has high gap closing and escape (which is covered in mobility)

Earth and armor, you have an armor ability you can pop that has a LONG duration, and you can switch attunements and it will remain, this also increases toughness.
You also get a signet slot ability that gives you earth armor, and a talent at certain health. Earth also has a Nice knockdown, so even if you are in trouble do the AOE knockdown switch to Air and burst out of there.

You need to learn more about the elementalist before u post in a thread like this. Almost everything in your post is invalid.

Elementalists need a buff. It’s as simple as that.

Clearly you need to learn more about the class before you post. Saying it is invalid without providing evidence is also a sign you need to learn HOW to post.
I say they don’t need a buff except for downed abilities, simple as that.

For the others, here is pretty close to my build:
0 Fire
30 Air = Move faster attuned to air, 10% more damage, 20% recharge on air skills
20 Earth = Earth armor at 50% hp, Toughness while channeling
10 Water = Deal more damage above 90% hp (can be switches for the condition removal)
10 Arcane= You and your allies get a boon when you attune

Wow, no fire at all? How do you put out so much damage with the fire combat routine? Doesn’t fire add to your power?

Fix Elementalists. Seriously.

I have kinda an off topic quick question. I’m an elementalist, and I’ve poured all my trait points in fire and water so far, figuring it would be good for damage and heals. Right now I’m at 20 fire, 20 water, and I think 4 or 5 earth.

Is this a bad build so far?

Also, is Arcane worth putting any trait points into?

And last question, how many trait points do you get total?

I apologize if I misread, but are you saying that players from different servers can’t do dungeons together? Because in my experience they can.

I’m on Tarnished Coast, and a person from.. DragonBand? Or something like that joined our group. Couldn’t figure out where he was when meeting up at the entrance, figured he was in overflow or something, but next to his portrait it said (DragonBand).

Sorry, can’t remember his server name exactly.

Anyway, it seems as though there is cross server dungeon partying.

The only thing i found odd about this was that he responded to me in a whisper from what I said in map chat. Something like “LF1M AC story”.
