I use it on my guardian and it seems to proc all the time.
To me it looks like a fire whip. Like a fire version of the ele air skill.
What does the legendery axe look like?
The legendery hammer is the same skin as the lightning hammer, maybe the axe is the same?
Frostfang is the legendary axe and it has an icy look to it, similar to corrupted but more detail and effects. The hammer that looks like the ele summoned hammer is a mystic forge recipe but not legendary. The legendary hammer, The Juggernaut, has quicksilver type effects and changes the look of your armor.
As others have said, Titans Vengence, destroyer axe, and the fused axe skin all have that fire effect but Titans Vengence is probably the closest.
Exotics I’ll either sell outright or salvage with a BL kit if the rune/sigil is worth more. Rare weapons I forge and armor I salvage. Greens I’ll either vendor or forge for more rares (esp if there is a daily) . I check the TP as well since sometimes I can get more for them then vendoring will net me, even with the TP fee. Blues I vendor and white heavy/light armor I salvage if it is level 80, otherwise ill either vendor it or sell it on TP even if I only make some copper. You’d be surprised how quickly even a little can add up.
Stick with your level of fractals. It won’t do you any good to move up since you’ll only get the rewards for your personal level (including the amount of relics). It didn’t take me too long to get the back piece. All I did was do each level at a time and work my way up. The relics come fast enough and I got lot of rares along the way to add to my pile of ectos I needed to upgrade the back piece. Plus, you’ll learn the fights much better and probably be able to do well at higher levels. I think overall it was maybe 2 weeks before I had enough for the back piece but that was with only doing 1-2 levels per night. I did it very casually so I’m sure it can be done much quicker.
Mesmers are really usefull in WvW aswell, they are awesome in: Dung, WvW, sPvP, not so much in general PvE/Lvl’ing though
id like to add that mesmer is the absolute hardest to level until you hit 40, after 40 your survivability skyrockets
I would this differs from person to person. I had zero problems leveling my mesmer. It was about the same as my other 5 80’s.
In response to other posts, you will get more enjoyment out of playing the class you want than anthing else. Mesmers are great but rangers (despite some issues) are fantastic as well. I’ve never been kicked from any group while playing my ranger. I would say a large portion of doing well with any class is dependant on the person playing.
Well mesmers are picked over rangers for dungeons most of the time. It’s not that rangers aren’t good in dungeons, it’s just that mesmers bring more group utility. But again, depends on playstyle. There are a lot of good youtube vids to watch. Search for hybrid beastmaster build for ranger and shattercat build for mesmer to get an idea of playstyle.
A ranger (esp with the new patch) actually offers all of that. Sb/gs rangers can be quite tanky and strong while keeping pretty mobile. Another great option is mesmer. You’re in light armor but even in full zerker gear they can be pretty easy to keep alive. In the end I’d say it all depends on your playstyle.
Man, I have no idea why ppl say mesmers are a pain to level. Im not saying I have amazing skill or anything but my guard, ranger, warrior, thief, mesmer were all equally easy to level. The only class I found hardish to level was necro. And not because of survivability or anything but just because I find its gameplay while leveling fairly boring.
Sure man, keep telling yourself that!
But my experience with rangers has been pretty poor, of course I can’t say they all suck as I’ve had 2 good ones that I can recall in the many runs I’ve done.. even those were guildies. Pug’s hate rangers unless they are rangers but I do think that they need a buff and think its a bit of an iffy profession at the minute.
Did you read the latest patch notes? Rangers got some much neded buffs and while they could still probably use a few more, the difference between pre patch and post patch rangers is huge imo. You may have run with some bad rangers, but thats the player, not the class. I’ve run with some terrible guardians but the class is great. I think we’re going to see an increase overall in the amount of solid rangers running around.
My first thought was Necromancer. They aren’t really a frontline generally, but they still have alot of survivability. Then you have AoE with your staff which can provide alot of XP from kills. Id recommend going straight for increased mark size in the trait lines. Their initial heal removes conditions so you wouldn’t need to pick up a well for condition removal immediately. Sceptor can also do AoE, or you could build more power with an axe and whichever I definitely prefer the warhorn for swiftness and the 2 second daze.
I would rather go for placeable wells. Somehow the mark size trait doesn’t work for my marks 2, 4 and 5.
it does work when you place them but there is a bug that keeps them from showing as big as they should be before you put them on the ground.
i have a necro at 56 and a mesmer at 30. So far i havent noticed any issues with survivability or killing power with my mesmer. This will be my 6th 80 and im at about 1300 hrs play time so i have a bit of experience. In fact ive been wondering what everyone was talking about when they say mesmer is weak in low level. Sure its not as easy as my warrior was but i havent had any problems. Unless they are talking about from 30-40 but ill find out soon enough.
No its my 6th character. I dont even think its possible to reach 162% at level 30 and I for sure cant use omnomberry bars yet. Runes dont give much at that level either. The blues dont ever sell for much but i guess I was wondering (hoping) if I would see more fine crafting mats to sell since they can pull in a decent amount of money while leveling.
Has anyone tried leveling a character only with MF gear? I know that for lower level the MF stats are pretty low but Im considering trying it to see if there is even a slight change in the amount of drops for making extra cash while leveling. I have a level 30 mesmer for what it’s worth that Im thinking of using the gear on. Maybe with MF food as well there would be a difference?
Yeah i think its a term from ‘the game that shall not be named’ for what the ranger class was there. I come from aion most recently and i occasionally forget and call my thief an assassin (tho to be fair, it was an assassin in gw1 as well). The other day i actually referred to my guardian as a templar and felt really dumb…
Im not sure if this is what youvmean but there are named accessories and rings (maybe amulets too) recipes that can drop in dungeons that use dungeon tokens as a component. You can find them on the tp for several gold so its a decent income if you have the recipe. For example, there is a ring recipe that drops in TA that has p/v/t stats that is uncraftable outside of that recipe.
You can craft it in the mystic forge. 100 mystic coins, 1 eldritch scroll, 20 superior sigils of nullification, and 1 gift of light. Just look it up on the wiki and youll see the recipe there.
Guardian is pretty good for those as well. You won’t be stacking much condition damage but you will have burns, blinds and other conditions like that as well as a crap tone of boons. But either way, Mesmer or Guardian, you likely will never have a problem getting groups. Both are very solid classes.
You can get a Wayfarer’s back slot item at the Temple of Melandru in Cursed shore for I think about 42k karma. It has t/v/mf for stats.
My offset is a short bow but im running CoF to get tokens for other weapons. Do you recommend anything in particular? I was watching some thief videos last night and it definitely seems to be a case of darting in and out in stealth from enemies. An attack, retreat and repeat type of game play. That was on a d/p build tho. I cant seem to find any vids on s/p thieves.
Does it really hurt that bad though? He won’t be able to do any death blossoms for a bit (that’s #2 right?) but the auto attacks still deal a good bit of damage.
ill try the venoms out next time in wvw and see how it goes. my fear tho is that if im outmatched ill have little to means of escape which I currently enjoy with black powder and shadow refuge. but then again, I guess its more of a go big or go home class, at least the way I seem to end up playing it. too much time spent playing my guardian perhaps lol.
I put an ascended amulet with a gilded infusion (20% gold find) on my warrior and make about 1g in boss money plus drops per run of CoF (not including rares/exotics). So when I want some quick easy money that what I go for. At 8 min a run average with pugs and omnomberry bars it adds up quite fast.
Agreed. I love sword 2 but they most classes seem to escape the immobilize before I have a chance to use sword 3 and im left wasting initiative and swinging at air. So bc of that I can see the appeal of going d/d. It just seems too cookie cutter so thats why I went for s/p. Even tho I think its a bit harder to pull off, it’s sweet when it does.
thanks for the response. that seems so simple yet I have a tendancy to keep moving so they have at most one miss against me.
So I run a s/p thief in wvw bc I find it more fun than the standard d/d build. Keep in mind this is an alt for me so I dont put huge amount of time into playing him which im sure is a factor. Do any of the you run s/p and how do you deal with other d/d thieves? despite a high armor they rip through me like butter.
I dont remember my traits offhand since im posting from my phone but ill lay out my gear and stats as best I can recall.
3k attack
2.9k armor
52% crit chance
@ 70 something crit dmg
@ 14.5k hp
knights armor with ruby orbs
zerker weapons (including short bow offhand
sigil of fire in sword and bow since I mostly run in a small group
sigil of accuracy in pistol
exotic valkyrie earrings and one ring
ascended knights ring
exotic berserker amulet.
rare cavalier back with ruby orb upgrade
signet of shadows (run speed one whatever its called)
blinding burst
shadow refuge
thieves guild
Any insight or help dealing with d/d thieves would be much appreciated. Yes they’re squishy so when I hit them I hit for a lot but they always seem to kill me in the end. T multiple stealths dont seem to help either since they seem to be able to move much faster/further than I can while stealthed. I have been having a lot of skill lag lately and wvw has been buggy for some reason lately and that doesnt help but I’m not goi.g to attribute all my losses to that. Thanks all.

I doubt it man. I tried the same thing when I was playing Aion and the lag was absolutely horrible from Afghanistan. skype video barely worked so I just typed.
Can anyone tell me what armor this is , wanna use it badly !
of the female warrior that is!
Chest/pants are Arah (Orrian)
Shoulders are barbaric?
Gloves are Hall of Monuments
And I cant tell on the boots.
ah now that you mention it I have seen a charr with dual incinerators so I dont think bolt would be any different.
I would assume so, however (and someone correct me if I’m wrong) I think bolt can only be equipped in the main hand and cannot be used as an offhand weapon.
I think it does. I upgraded mine to the last step today (Fractal Capacitor) and it was again account bound and said “Soulbound on use”. So I think it is usable by another character.
Updated look on Warrior. I think I may swap the legs out for karma legs but those jewelry boxes were too tempting so it’ll have to wait a bit.
both guardian and warrior are great classes for pve. id just go with whichever you have more fun playing. There arent TOO many times that you need a ranged weapon in pve outside of some bosses in dungeons/fractals so I wouldnt use ranged ability as your guiding factor. But you should look at what your goals are in pve. If you want to do high level fractals id say a guardian would be more in demand than a warrior. simply because I feel they bring more utility to the fight than most of the warriors I’ve played with.
That’s true. I just find fractals more fun than running CoF p1 over and over. I seem to get them more from Fractals than from CoF. Might just be me.
The shoulders are a bit bulky but i cant find a sleeker par in plate so i have to settle for this. It looks even better ingame and especially when in the sun. Its a real knight and protector of the weak.
Brutaly, have you looked at the Banded Shoulders? They’re the sleek plate look I was going for and I think they fit quite well on males. Also, sweet Juggernaut.
My first ever lvl. 80… Ol’Ironjugs.
Now with 10% more location!
That guy looks freaking huge.
I don’t have one because I prefer the mystic forge weapons more but I’m still gathering the stuff that all legendary’s need in case they come out with new ones at some point. But I will say that my friend (an ele) completed his scepter maybe a month ago and plays just as much as he did before. He’s also working on the dagger at the moment.
I honestly get the most destroyer lodestones/cores from the heavy miner bags from the dredge fractal and from the maw chest. I get them pretty regularly.
I’m pretty sure I saw that skin yesterday on the TP. I’d go look at the exotic spearguns and preview them.
Edit: Looks like Recycle beat me to it. I just found it on GWDB.
I’m not sure what your build is but a 1 hand sword + focus is very viable. Most notably I’ve seen it used in the Healway build and in a few others as well. I’ve seen the torch used as well but not as much. I suppose it depends what your focus is but the torch is more offense focused and the focus is more self protection focused and quite frankly, I love the focus over the torch.
I’m sure others could elaborate more on them since the only one I use much out of what you listed is the focus.
Edit: About not being able to use your hammer properly, it might be that it just doesn’t fit your playstyle but the hammer is absolutely viable in WvW and can be used to amazing effect. For a few examples, check out Amins video list and how he uses the hammer.

Those all come from fractals.
Your information is not true. Or I am not interpreting your info correcly. I got an Exotic Guild Defender Backpack from completing the Guild Bounty mission. so you can get back piece from Guild missions
You can get exotic back pieces elsewhere but he was talking about the ascended infused back pieces. Currently those are only available through fractals or crafting.
Outside of perhaps some forms of food, oils, and sharpening stones ( maybe some armor pieces) I’d say jewelry is your best bet for making a profit from crafting on the TP. however, it wont come from your standard recipes. There are some dungeons that drop recipes for rings and such that provide stat combos you can’t normally craft ( TA offers a soldiers ring recipe). Those will usually sell for around 7g a pop.
Only thing I can think of is make sure you put all level 80 rares in and not mix with mid 70’s gear to make sure you at least get an 80 rare and hopefully an exotic back.
Im not sure how to get them in spvp bu you can craft them as level 80 exotic weapons using destroyer lodestones. Look them up on the wiki and it’ll tell you the recipe. One handers are usually cheaper than two handers by about 10 or so lodestones.
Didn’t see a thread on this unless my search skills suck. Does anyone know if the particle effects of Firebringer or Bolt can be seen through stealth?
Mazer has a decent idea, but his advice on going zerk is moot considering the fact you use a mace. If you used the tried and true standard of GS+scept/x discounting a couple specific scenarios, I’d agree. The fact you use a mace is either an oversight or preference. If it’s your preference, then you’re probably better off getting some healing power or something. There isn’t a correct gear choice when it comes to that weapon.
Gah, good call. I was tired and didn’t even consider that he was using a mace. I was thinking the extra precision/crit from zerker stuff would work well with Empowering Might if he’s using that on his AH build. I’m really not familiar which stats would work well with the mace since I never use it.
I’m running an AH guard in the mid to upper 20’s for daily’s and do just fine using knights gear. I opted for berserker stat rings, amulet, and soldier back. Weapons are mostly berserker. With soldier gear and an AH build you’re probably sitting very good on healing and staying alive. I’d go for berserker stat ascended gear as it jives well with most builds and still affords you some extra DPS boost that you may be lacking.
