There are a few convenience/perk items that were only available temporarily or are incredibly difficult to get now.

-Mystic Forge Conduit ~ Currently 27 avail in TP for 300g ~ can make in Mystic Forge for about 658g (ya, I don’t get it either)
-Permanent Bank Access Contract [was temp avail from black lion chests](currently 19 avail for about 535g ea)
-Permanent Trading Post Express Contract [same](currently 27 avail for about 265g ea)
-Permanent BL Merchant Contract [same](currently 29 avail for about 235g ea)
-Permanent Hair Stylist Contract [same](0 currently avail)

I’d like to propose that these items (and more like them) be permanently added to the Gem Store for maybe around 2k gems each. A price should be given to them that keeps them somewhat rare & “trophy status” items, but I’d still like to see them purchasable with gems.
The key word here is “permanently”. There are not enough permanent items in the gem store imo.

I would also like to see perm harvesting tools stay put in some way.
I understand the corporate model but, they could at least put basic ones in there with either no visual effects or something along the lines of small visual effects (like the bone pick) for permanent sale, & then bring around the flashy ones every so often.

Right… where to begin?

I can’t be on twenty four hours a day and I don’t belong to, or want to be forced to join, a large guild that can invoke the world bosses. Also, smaller guilds still struggle with the insane costs for most of these unlocks – we’re already forced to join larger guilds just to play some of the game’s content and access the rewards.

So, I guess I can summarise it with two questions:
1) When will smaller guilds be able to do… anything?
2) Why do I always get the short straw with every update?

I have to agree with this. You guys have added almost nothing for small guilds…

Complete disregard of Guild organization features. I.e. guild panel info & options.
(And I DON’T want some stupid API. I want a functioning guild panel >.<)

The ability to be in multiple guilds. Worst idea I’ve ever come across in an mmo. Completely strips guilds of any sense of community & loyalty. Also, makes it 100xs more difficult for 100% rep guilds to build a desired environment AND keep track of it at the same time… call me old fashioned if u must >.>

Terribad UI options. I should be able to move AND size everything on my screen….

Were there ever any complaints that there were just too many chances in a day to kill Teq? Did anyone ever post that it would be really swell if we couldn’t get any information at all about what was going on in the world from the map? How many communities said they were a-o-k with it being more difficult to get their large guild together in one place because the zones had become a melding pot? And finally, I don’t recall seeing the public outcry for guilds to be able to kick off world bosses in a public zone where they actually have no possible way to ensure they can get enough of their own members there to organize it because there might be 20 people in the instance somewhere AFK at the bottom of a lake.

I know you all worked kitten this. And are pretty proud of its capabilities. But you have your customers here pretty much begging you to not do this because of the detriment it will be to the many different communities they make up and the things in the game they enjoy. These changes are hurting exponentially more people they are going to benefit.

Again, the fact it takes twice as much to travel and two loading screens just to know if you can go to the place you want to go or do the thing you want to do should be a GIANT indication that this is on a horribly wrong path.

This defensive mentality then lowers the individual reward for others, because suddenly there are now defended keeps and an uncoordinated blob isn’t enough to ktrain, because now it takes longer to secure a keep and success may not even be possible.

Boo hoohoo people are defending and it’s not as easy to ktrain ?

Unless you’re willing to fight for it, and win, you don’t deserve that reward. You don’t deserve that dragonite. In fact, you don’t deserve loots, AT ALL!

This carebear-like “Why are j00 fighting?” bleeting is EXACTLY why I fight. I fight to keep the lot of you away from the dragonite. I fight to farm you and your zergling friends by the 50 when I tag all of you with burning oil. I fight because if the bags on legs walk into my slice, they don’t deserve to walk off unchallenged.

I fight to crush your choochoomander’s spirits and show them that just because you can blow 100g on a blue corn doritos doesn’t mean you have the capacity to fight and lead other players in a pvp environment. No pity for choochoomanders.

I fight…. because that’s what I do. It’s what I’m here for.

Coincidentally, Frostkeep is also an excellent “Maguuma command simulator” since you’re outnumbered all the time. So you have to make it work with what’s available. And believe me when I say this : Your tears empower me.

Keeping up with this thread since it started & it seems to be around 80% negative feedback so far.
It seems to only be benefiting the low pop servers & screwing e1 else.
(And still not helping small/medium sized guilds at all.)

I totally understand the need to help the low pop servers in some way, however, alienating 80% of your player base to do that isn’t really a smart business model.
I was never one that would have voted for consolidating servers before but, now…. I think that may be the way it should have gone.

I believe that ncsoft’s concern is that publicly admitting that consolidation is necessary due to a decline in player base is decidedly not good for their image or their pocketbooks. But, this may turn out even worse for them in the long run.
They should have just spun some fancy words or come up with some other ‘public’ excuse for consolidation.

Having been slowly losing interest in the game over the last few months, I was getting super exited for this update… until this ‘big reveal’.

The ‘set’ world boss schedule
The blow to server identity & pride (& some level of privacy)
The kick in the pants to guilds like TTS (for example)
The cut in gold from champ bags, double waypointing etc (which is NOT balanced by removing repair costs)
The fact that u will have to dbl load into some maps
The destruction of World Boss Train
The impact on Role Playing servers
The impact on Guild Recruiting
The impact on asking for WvW help in ‘LA’
Still no new guild missions for smaller guilds who will potentially never be able to unlock the new guild perk
Randomized nodes which will impact the market intensely AND take away a viable & enjoyable way to make gold & collect needed mats for a portion of the population
….and I’m sure I’ve missed some

Anet/ncsoft, please consider this large amount of negative feedback & make the tweaks necessary to make the majority of your player base happy. Do Not go through with this full-speed-ahead as it stands!

A few answers:

  • Gathering nodes are still randomized on every map instance.

Gathering is an important part of income for many players, this change now negates it and the use of infinite gathering tools that you sell.

You cannot expect people to run around trying to find these nodes everytime they enter the map if they change locations constantly.

I do not know the impact such a change will have on the economy, but the supply of these gatherable materials will surely plummet when these maps will be affected by your megaserver implantation.

I humbly suggest you try to find a solution to this. Me, being quite an hardcore gatherer for a long time, this change completly kittens me over.

2. You’re randomizing each of the map instance’s resource nodes. Part of what made it worth gathering with multiple characters on a single map was that you’d know where they were. The world of LIVING things is meant to change, Ore, isn’t a living resource. Even the organics are coming from places where they’ve grown already. It’s another immersion break to see trees, flowers, and crops growing one day in a field, and another to find it somewhere else entirely. One randomization per main game reboot is enough

Being a hardcore harvester, I’m quite upset about this aspect. Not only will mat prices skyrocket but, I can see myself playing less, then less & less….

To the people complaining about this. You were exploiting the fact that you could know the node routes and thus get the same nodes on multiple characters. I understand that you’re upset they’ve removed the exploit, but it’s good for the game overall.

Different people have different preferred ways of making money in this game.

If it was an exploit, I can 100% guarantee Anet wouldn’t have let it go on for 18 MONTHS.
After purchasing ELEVEN permanent harvesting tools & planning on buying more, you can forget about those gem purchases now anet. No more need.

No matter how fast they set the base speed, someone will always say it takes too long to run places. Some won’t be happy until they can click anything in line of sight, even across the whole map, and be there instantly.

I believe the speed is set where it is for game design reasons, making it not too sludgy to get places but also giving time to see the world. Not to mention it keeps our characters from looking like the Road Runner with pinwheels for legs.

Hogwash. I’m perfectly happy when I’m on my perma-swift toons running around. Then I’m oh so sad when I switch to a toon without it.

I agree with you. I think that the fact we have to either buck up oodles of gold for a not really useful rune to increase run speed, or use skills or traits to not be a turtle, is just silly. I would like to get from here to there today. Yet, I get why this is. It’s called gold sink. When you need to get somewhere fast, they want you to wp so you use your in game cash. Simple as that. But it’s annoying as all get out.

I’ve always thought those 2 buffs were strange. The main thing about it is, it makes the fights so boring! Most of your good skills are completely useless. You just stand there auto-attacking with an occasional dodge for like 5 minutes straight…

I am just barely hanging on to this game after 2+ years of waiting for:
notable improvements/changes to WvW, fixes to 2+ year old ‘bugs’ & hacking, permanent world expansions, non-recycled content etc.
I have never been this patient with any other game I’ve played!

I am at my wits end with the fact that you make so many important changes to this game without player feedback beforehand, & STILL implement huge changes with no Player Testing Server.

This change was an absolute smack in the face.
~ taking away our ability to buy in small increments
~ leaving us with useless gems that we paid for with no fair warning
~ taking away the information that enabled us to make informed decisions with our money
AND, (it looks like) screwing with the figures behind the scenes….. are you serious?? Did you really think this would fly??

The player confusion excuse…. ridiculous. IF anything, the old UI taught people something.

Suggestion:
Change it back to the old UI

If I wanna buy gems according to how much money I make each day or week, I should be able to do that. Like I have been for the past 2 years.
NO ~ forced ~ increments!

WvW needs megaserver tech like EOTM

One of the reasons eotm sucks so much is because of the mega server format there.
In real wvw, you have server identity. This forms friendships, guilds, wvw guilds etc.
These people are then able to use a server-based teamspeak, and communicate and coordinate together in an effort to function like a team and retain a sportsmanship-like loyalty towards each other. They can also improve their game play this way. (which the majority of are interested in doing)
In EotM, these conditions cannot be replicated. Especially when you are thrown in a world together with a bunch of people whom you may consider rivals or even long time enemies. (At the very least, strangers.)
EotM is a mish mosh, mystery soup environment, lacking effective communication or sense of loyalty towards one another. Many people there are seriously unskilled, or just don’t care about anything other than ktrain. No one there cares about PPT. (which wvw was originally designed around) They don’t want to learn how to wvw even if you had an effective communication tool. The only thing that can happen there is ktrain, or random skilled wvw guild groups steamrolling said ktrain.
I’m not hating, this is fine how it stands. I have used EotM myself to ktrain, and have used it to level toons in the past. I’m perfectly fine with that.

However, even if you tried to institute a color-based teamspeak system, it would fail without dedicated people, willing to continually organize/run/police said system. And then, who would pay for it? There may or may not be random donations made to keep it running. Lacking any sense of “server loyalty”, I doubt there would be consistent donations or efforts of organization/policing etc.
There would also be a potentially severe increase in TS trolling/hacking that no one would want to deal with. Most server-based TS’s are somewhat secure and monitored, or at least have a system to deal with spies/trolls. This is virtually impossible to replicate in an EotM world.
Also, with such large, generic, wvw populations, how would a world color host/coordinate wvw training events and things of that nature? These types of events are common place on many servers. Again, fostering a sense of teamwork, loyalty, & potentially developing friendships.
I’m not sure if you understand just how in-depth wvw-by-server is.
There’s so much more I could say but, this is enough lol

So……. no loyalty, no pride, no effective communication, no fostered learning environment, and a good sized portion of the population who couldn’t give a kitten less.
This would kill wvw altogether, guaranteed.

After spending so much time and resources on the new wardrobe, it is mind-boggling that outfits are not skins.

I have never worn a complete set of anything in 2 years. This translates to ZERO outfit purchases previously, & forever and ever and ever to come.

Expansion WvW Content

Does the expansion:

- address scoring problems
- fix population and coverage imbalances
- give better rewards for scouting and defending
- give better rewards for WvW in general
- support GvG in any way that doesn’t at all involve the restricted constraints of sPvP?

A map is nice, but also pointless if it doesn’t fix the issues that have caused you to lose enough population to make it pointless having more than 1 (sometimes 2) maps on all but a handful of servers during their prime times or on ANY server during off hours.

A new map may be nice but, it’s kinda low on my totem pole.
The list above plus ~ fixing 2 year old bugs, and adding some kind of raid UI/Party system are where it’s at for me.

Hate it. And here’s why: I’m part of Attuned, a guild focused on fighting those “Hardcore” mega bosses. While it’s nice we can start the boss whenever we want, it’s terrible that we can no longer commandeer a map for ourselves.

Let me explain. Fights like the Triple Headed Jungle Wurm require coordination by 120~160 people with at least 110 of which in the same teamspeak. To accomplish this, my guild has been guesting to empty servers or forcing an overflow for private use. This ensures that we have only people who we know we can count on in the map and furthermore ensures we can actually accomplish killing the Wurm on a regular basis.

With the changes to the current system, it sounds like there will be no such thing as overflows, and no such thing as “empty maps” to guest to. In this case, it seems impossible to purge our runs of PUGs who are either geared incorrectly or unable/unwilling to follow commander instruction. Thus, this system makes future endeavors at killing the wurm (or any future, more-difficult boss) futile and impossible. Our guild is very dismayed over the fact that there has been no considerations for this situation and are skeptical that when this patch hits we’ll be able to kill wurm at all anymore due to the excessive amount of incompetent PUGs that will always be inside our (now merged) Bloodtide Coast.

While reading this i’d like to puke all over you. People like you are the worst thing which could ever happen to a game!

So in the Economics blog, JS said he balanced the removal of repair costs with a reduction in champ payouts. Will anything be done to balance the cost of increased waypoint usage, reduced access to events (and their rewards), and less efficient harvesting? Seems like characters will necessarily be poorer in the new megaserver system.

Traits Part 2

As an alt-aholic, after about a year with no new toons, I recently bought 2 new slots & alls I have to say is WOW. This trait system is the worst I’ve ever seen in 10 years of gaming.
I leveled 1 toon with, tomes, crafting, & a touch of eotm.
The 2nd, will stay where it is for now and not be played. And she’s totally ghimped, lacking traits….
I want to buy more slots but, I will not buy another slot until the system is fixed.
What a horrible experience leveling is now. Hitting a level means nothing & feels completely unrewarding.
at least REVERT for now…..

ps. and yeah the word ghimped is misspelled due to filter. How is that a bad word…?

Anet really dropped the ball when it comes to social grouping in this game. Worlds should have been the most important social classification in game. Guilds unfortunately lessened our Worlds significance. Then the Mega Server reduced World importance to near nothing. The only World identities come from a small percentage of WvW players.

The least Anet can do, for those players who have been loyal to one world, is some form of a buff. Some extra Magic find or a title or something.

1. Different colored tags
This should not be an additional purchase, & it should be a default system.
~Commander enters map that has no tag currently on it, pops his tag, & the default blue tag appears.
~2nd Commander enters the map, pops his tag, & the 2nd default colored tag appears.
We should not be able to choose the tag color because many people will want the same colors to represent them, which defeats the whole purpose of the system. (just don’t make a pink tag )
2. Greatly increase supply check radius
3. Give us an option for the tag to only be seen by guild members. Or as someone already stated, Party/Guild/Map option would be awesome!
4. Make Commander ‘buff’ work like the outnumbered buff. Invisible to enemies (ty Daniel)
5. Increase the squad limit
6. Allow only commanders to have access to using team chat
7. “Text suppression threshold greatly increased”

“Would you rather see us make some number of small improvements in the short term and larger changes long term or just tear the whole thing down and start from scratch?”

Small – short term plz! We’ve been waiting SO long for a fix!

Yes, the UI is obnoxious in this game. Please let us make some of it go away until we actually want to see it.
And when new, local events pop up, please just make it show the title, then you can then click on that to open up the information.
Sometimes, I walk into an area and suddenly 3/4 of the right side of my screen is screaming at me & blocking my view >.<

Dying from walking down a slope??????

Anything being done about the bug that causes you to die from walking down a slight slope as if you had jumped off too high a cliff?? This is a big problem for WvW’ers…

Gettin real tired of watching my guild mates die for no reason & need a rez, slowing up group play in a realm where time is of the essence.
This doesn’t happen to me personally bcs I use the falling trait & I jump around a lot while I’m running along. However it does annoyingly put me in combat run-speed occassionally.

Also, when the new masteries come out, this is going to be an even bigger problem….

Party/Guild Panel Functionalities

Devon has stated that this is not his area so, I thought I’d post this somewhere where it may get some attention from the right people.
Dunno if this has been posted here or not, sorry if it has…

In WvW, party functionality is broken.
You cannot kick players from a party when they are offline… This has been a MAJOR frustration for players since release… That’s a long time.

You also cannot invite people to a party from the guild panel while in WvW.
You can’t whisper them from the guild panel either.
In fact (transitioning here), you can’t do ANYTHING with the guild panel in WvW. Including kick people from the guild. This should not be so.

The functionality from the chat box is also missing in WvW.

Please, I beg of you, I’ve been playing this game for over a year now. Most of it as either guild leader or officer. My hands are tied each way I turn with these broken functionalities.
Having to leave WvW to take care of something, only to then end up in a queue to re-enter, is rediculous.

Anet, is the right department aware of these problems and, are fixes in the works??

[Suggestion] Custom Chat Channel Creation

They have this in Rift iirc.
Rift’s chat box options are like hitting the Chat Box Lottery lol
FULLY customizable in every possible way you could think of.

This is a very frustrating part of GW2 for me. Especially as an officer when I need to get everyone’s attention in chat & I can’t even change the chat color to stand out….
I’ve made a post (& so have others) suggesting server wide chat, but this is a MUCH better idea

Agreed. Been asking for chat box improvements for a long time.
ALL chat should be saved when switching characters. Party chat should NOT disappear when party disbands.
Been asking for the ability to change chat colors & designate color difference for certain guild ranks.
the list goes on but, I would settle for retaining all chat as a start for now…
