i was thinking something close to this. Maybe exchange trinkets with soldier ones if i need more defense. The build looks good, lot of condi hate, protection up a lot so it reduce condi dmg on you. I like it, the only thing i dont like are ranger weapons. Longbow lacks AOE, good ones and greatsword is melee, i dont think you would survive a lot been frontline. We have to wait and see, i like that build, other guy posted here one similar. If you want more offense skirmishing is an option i suppose, also utilities can be change like moa stance depending, probably for another survival skill.

Anyway what i feel lacking for wvw scenario, at least groups is the lack of good AOE (like rev hammer for example). Also sword/warhorn would be good since the build have some boon duration and the boons from warhorn would be nice. Sword is ok but been a melee ranger in a zerg can be mmmm bad, i wish axe was good with power or we had more options for group play with AOEs.

reroll, that is all. In wvw people will kick you out, yell at you if you bring a ranger. You will be kicked out of any serious group, you will be an outcast. For open world PvE is alright, anything works there.

I wish i could use my ranger in wvw, i mean technically i can no one stops me lol but lets be honest, its in a bad state. Soulbeast wont do much to make rangers viable in wvw, sad. Well anet never cared for rangers, never will. My Advice to anyone that have a ranger and wvw, reroll honestly. Must suck to hear commanders and guild yelling at you for bringing a ranger, seriously you are just a wasted slot in the raid.

I think this will at least give some playability to rangers in zergs. At least they bring some AOE, not like their damage is wow anyway so i dont know why they dont pierce. No one takes marksmanship in wvw, is a waste of space.

oh I have. I understand warbringer is easier to get if all you do is WvW but to SPEND 300gold on something your never going to use. The PvP legendary backpiece YOU DONT spend that. I rather put the 300g on a precursor for a legendary weapon. With all the easy ways to get an ascended backpiece I can have a 1000000 ascended backpieces than 1 legendary for 300gold with the same stats lol.

I am not a commander and never will, i dont lead. When i saw you needed the tag to buy that backpiece i was like why? I prefer to spend that in any other thing than the tag, i wont use it nor care. That really kitten me off

Sadly scourge seem to be too powerful for zergs, more condi meta and boon stripping. Spellbreaker and Scourge seem to have a secure place in the meta, firebrand also as support, like he said it can apply boons fast denying maybe boon stripping a little. Other than those the rest wont be anything special, soulbeast would be an upgrade since the pet wont die with aoe now but still is not enough to make rangers useful, they will still be hated and kicked out of groups. Renegade seems bad, at least the legend i dont think will see much place, maybe the traitline will be used for the shortbow and more condi but with mallyx/Jalis or maybe shiro. I suppose we have to wait and see, one thing is certain, condi is going to still be king, probably lot better than it is now.

IMO they need to give power gear some defense, upgrade it so it match gear like dire, trailblazer which can do lot of damage while been defensive. With power you need precision, ferocity and power to do damage leaving you too squishy. No idea but there needs to be some changes how condis behave or are deal with

really? Maul, Worldly Impact, and Path of Scars isn’t enough aoe damage? they’re all low cooldown and unblockable with the right spec. you can deliver all 3 in about a second with quickness.

I am talking mostly of wvw. maul lol yea try landing that in a zerg fight with the current condi meta, you would die before maul finish casting. No one use off hand axe in wvw, the longbow 5 is the only good aoe skill and is not that great. Going full marksmanship for piercing arrows is not worth it. Compare to other classes we bring nothing to wvw, hammer revenants as backline with number 2 does ridiculous damage on low cooldown and is aoe to mention an example, we dont have any of that. Why you think no one bring rangers to wvw, not serious players at least and if they do they either dont invite them to raids or put them alone in groups, We bring nothing, no damage, no aoe, no support, no boon strip, no nothing, the only kind of good usable is healing druid and i hate healing plus elementalist is probably better at that so.

For WvW zerging I plan to get an owl. A leap, swiftness, and a heal, and no pet to manage – absolutely perfect.

i mostly just play wvw, i like the soulbeast the idea and all but i dont think for wvw it will be much of an improvement, well you can merge with the pet and now wont die as easy which is good. Still the ranger wont have much aoe, i dont think it can be frontline and do damage with melee, doesnt give much support (i dont think as of now sharing stance will be good unless anet make changes). It will probably be a little better but nothing wow, we probably still be low tier. Hope i am wrong, i want to play my ranger in wvw but other than open world PvE i dont see the soulbeast been that good/at the top, not even close.

Soulbeast and longbow

LB/GS is exactly what I’ve been trying for in WvW. I don’t think I need a specific damage ability for Beast mode that matches Longbow; and the Eagle is by far my most preferred pet for the LB. I get a passive increase to Power and Ferocity, you can trait for Fury and Quickness on F3, plus I get swiftness and a leap for mobility/kiting. That is a great sniper tool kit.

What I’m struggling with is the Great Sword and Melee range. At 1500, i’M deadly

yea the bird pets for wvw is a blessing for movement. I just wish longbow had piercing or more aoe so its more useful in zergs, groups but single target meeh. Going full into marksmanship just for the piercing is useless, anyway i hope ranger become more meta in wvw since is all i play mostly but i doubt things will change much. It will be better, pet wont die easy, some more goodies but wont be ground breaking, we will still be low bottom tier IMO, we will see.

Guardians is in the best spot IMO among all the classes. At least from a wvw perspective core guard it still a strong build, dragonhunter can also exchange the core guard a little. You have burn guard also. I just tried firebrand and honestly i think it will be very requested for wvw, so much support and boons, with staff it will probably be among the new meta, loved it. So guard is in a good spot, all 3 are usefull, core, DH and firebrand seem liek will have its place.

I used eternal bond once and honestly didnt even felt it was on, tought was bugged lol because i had so many conditions i didnt felt like i revived or did anything, i just died. I tried soulbeast in wvw and the only improvement is that your pet wont die now to the first aoe damage that happens in a zerg, other than that nothing new. I dont think soulbeast will be wanted in groups, doesnt bring anything new to the table. It will still be a low tier in wvw, scourges and spellbreakers are dominating tho. So much boon hate is kind of ridiculous

i tried it for some minutes, the only good thing about it is that i can use my legendary SB that i have in the bank. Renegade with ponys is amazing lol but i didnt like it much. IMO is hard to replace glint, renegade seem not so movil and the utilities are meeeh. Healing skill kinda bad, i died all the time. Conditions hurt a lot. I dunno, maybe i ended up liking it, maybe i am just bad but i feel like it needs something.

Upon testing, I can confirm that Maul procs Attack of Opportunity for you while in beast mode. Maul -> Beast Skill -> Autoattack -> Maul -> Beast Skill -> Autoattack Maul -> Weapon Swap seems like it might have the potential to be quite good in terms of damage over longbow.

Also, Sic’Em effects you as well, which should be a pretty significant damage increase, and while some of the traits were nerfed, you do get some of the bonus power/precision/toughness/vitality/ferocity that your pet would normally be given from the Beastmastery minor traits while in beast mode.

Awesome! Looks like Soulbeast Shoutbow will be a thing then if Sic Em stays like that…

yea also i think the OP mention it, a trait in beastmaster which give ferocity to the pet when soulbeasted give you like 150 ferocity and 25% movement speed. So there is that, more ferocity. I hope something good turns out with soulbeast, i am no theorycrafter or anything so i am no expert.

soulbeast is cool but nothing wow. I havent tested much but there was a guild member that said was 1 shooted by a deadeye lol. When you see stuff like that and compare soulbeast damage, is honestly laughable. The specialization is alright i suppose but nothing wow like probably spellbreaker, necros or others.

sadly i dont expect much for it. Sure it will be an upgrade for wvw, if you play wvw in groups you know the pet die in the first seconds and there is nothing you can do, your whole class becomes useless. So merging with the pet will be an upgrade since you wont have to worry anymore for it dying, that said i think it wont deliver and rangers/soulbeast will be still last for everything. Groups will still kick rangers out and they wont be wanted, time will tell but i am not expecting much from anet.

The class basically got nerfed into the ground when Jon Peters was at the helm up until 2015. This constant nerfing of Rangers while buffing other classes (especially Warrior) caused all the Ranger-hate from other people and why our class always got kicked first from fractals and dungeons.

Some of you may not remember JP’s antics but the infamous shortbow firerate nerf where his explanation (excuse) made no logical sense and the blanket nerf to pet damage (because they would supposedly ‘hit more reliably’ now when they still didn’t) are still fresh in my mind. There was even a massive thread at the time where we could offer our suggestions for fixing the class and JP participated. But nothing significant ever came out of that so I assume it was just meant as a pacifier to keep people contained.

Now Ireno has to pick up the pieces and try to undo what JP did. Fact remains that you could basically take any of our skills/traits and compare them to similar skills/traits from other classes. Then you will find out that Ranger always had either longer cooldowns or less useful skills.

Back in the day JP basically only cared about making Warrior as easy-mode as possible so he could play his signet warrior in sPvP. Even watching old devstreams with him talking about the classes made that painfully clear. And when he had to nerf Healing Signet he told everyone that it must be done in small steps (while still applying massive nerfs to every other class).

There was another dev during that time but I forgot his name. His favorite class was Thief and it showed. His excuse to killing a thief was ‘lots of AoE’.

Just my opinion.

lol who can forget that. Remember when they nerfed shortbow just because people were pressing skill 1 to much. LMAO, yes all classes get nerf sometimes but all this years rangers have gotten the more kitten explanations and nerfs that dont make any sense.

I was definitely hoping for some condition removal traits, but these seem pretty interesting. Second Skin may not remove conditions, but the affect is potent; especially for those of us running both WS and NM (Protective Ward.)

Unstoppable Union is really interesting by design because it gives us a reason to not camp Beast Mode, I like it. The stun break is pretty sweet, too.

Predator’s Cunning looks really fun as well, provided there’s no ICD. Does Poison Volley count as 5 procs if shotgunned into a single enemy? What about using the spider’s Poison Gas while in Beast Mode on a group? That’s a LOT of ticks.

yes, i think if you shoot poison volley at close ranger the opponent gets poison depending on how many arrows hit them, 1 poison for every arrow if i am not mistaken. Same with MH axe 2 n bleeds

everything looks alright, now one of the biggest question is dagger damage, if its going to be worth it to use it in power builds. One question tho, i see a trait to use dagger in the mainhand, apart from the one which say you gain beastmode. So that means we need to use another trait just to use dagger main hand? my guess is not because that will be mess up but who knows

I love the GS, IMO is one of the best weapons for ranger with best skills, it have about everything. Sadly well is not top in damage or used that much but well, i hope soulbeast change that a little.

That’s not accurate. Look at the patch notes from the change. Short bow was nerfed to make long bow more attractive because it wasn’t being used. Then long bow was buffed because nerfing one thing to make another thing attractive predictably didn’t work. But short bow never got it’s range back. I was also a ranger main at launch, until the range nerf, and the short bow/greatsword gameplay was the most enjoyable in the game with rapid fire and frequent dodges as you floated around the battlefield. Range 900 isn’t like being ranged at all.

Yep, if we all remember and have been here since the first day SB was nerfed to make longbow look good. I haven’t had so much fun with a ranger since the SB/GS days. In fact i have a legendary dreamer in the bank, doing nothing because well i made it before the famous nerf and after that longbow became the new hot thing.

there is only one logical explonation for that, the soulbeast is not finished. The same as druid which was left for last (didnt even appear on the beta) i smell anet have no idea how to deal with soulbeast and all the problems it might bring for other ranger trees and such. My guess is we will get a half asset specialization, not finished and not in par with the others. Sadly rangers once again for last.

Also if you notice, the leader of the pack GM trait its just 360 radius, that is total garbage and useless. If i remember correctly the bad thing about venom share thieves was that the venom sharing radius was 360 and people never got buffed lol. They practically need to be hugging you to get the buff, meeeh total kitten, sound good on paper but will end up been useless. Eternal Bond will probably be the most used, best of them all.

As a whole, I’d say our grandmaster traits are underwhelming to say the least. The stance sharing trait would be a lot better if they increased the radius to the size of a point in PvP and set priorty for party members and then the people closest to you.

Also, while Oppressive Superiority sounds great on paper, fighting a class with high sustain and constant damage pressure will mean it will rarely take effect. Don’t forget, we don’t have the same amount of sustain by dropping Druid in favor of Soulbeast. If it were something like “When you apply a condition, apply a random condition on the same target.” with a 1 second icd, it might be more interesting.

Leader of the Pack should be 600 radius like Tempest Auras and not half duration, that is just a complete waste.

I heard somewhere that 1/3 of our damage comes from our pet. (On our mender’s druid builds, its more like 80%). Here’s to hoping we get a 33% damage increase while in Soulbeast to make up for it!

seriously, i know pets are kitten but if we also lose that damage then wtf are we going to do lol. This is bad, honestly this is looking worse than i first tough. I hope i am wrong but this specialization is so lacking right now. If we dont get a buff for merging then the specialization is useless. Sad day for rangers, once again of many, like i said hope all this i am wrong but so far everything we know is either useless, garbage or underwhelming compare to others.

One of the GM traits literally gives you a second life if you’re in beastmode when you get downed. looks like an incredibly powerful elite spec overall. as per usual ANet antics, there will be no reason to roll with any GM other than Eternal Bond in pvp. maybe that stance sharing one in wvw.

And it is NOT a “second life.” It’s a measly -not even 4k- heal on a 90 second cooldown.

It would be one of the worst grandmaster traits in the game if it stays like that.

are you on drugs? Predator instinct applies when the opponent is low, not you. So doesnt work.

When it comes to PvP, a pitiful 3.9k heal on the verge of death is absolutely nothing. Is up there as one of the worst GM traits in the game, in my humble opinion.
With that ridiculous CD, if it gave a hefty heal and applied rersistance or cleansed conditions it could be a worthy contender.

yea i mean, its better than nothing i suppose but 4k like you said its just 1 hit from a warrior, ele, thief or 2 if you are lucky. Not to mention condis, we have to see how the skill end up been, if its a heal kind and conditions stay on you then its garbage. Now if is something like you die for a second and come back to live with 4k (close) to live, clean with no condis then might be ok.

Does Anet really think that folding the pet into the ranger is going to make us wanted in WvW when all we can do is put out some piddly bleeding to 2 targets and laughable buffs like 3 seconds of resistance every 40s?

Even thieves will be useful in guild groups with their pin snipe abilities. Ranger is just gonna have another 2 years of being the class you main if you want to get laughed at when trying to join a serious WvW guild.

the only good thing about all this is in zerg fights your useless pet you can now put it away/merge with it and not die been total useless. Now you can at least (hopefully) get some bonus depending on pet, better than having it die with any aoe that hits it. Other than that, the specialization looks underwhelming compare to the others, not even close. Hope i am wrong.

Not losing functionality in a fight bigger than 10v10 will be nice but our current weapons aren’t exactly the stuff of legend in big fights and the new dagger looks incredibly bad in a big fight, more single target, “victory via small cuts and survival” stuff that we’ve always had. Not exactly breaking new ground.

Hopefully things are either not as bad as they seem or can change but right now the only thing that has me hyped is the new maps and the mounts. The fact that Anet couldn’t even devote energy to hyping Soulbeast really makes me think I shouldn’t either.

yea i mean the expansion looks great and for the price honestly i was expecting it costing higher lol, really good. About soulbeast well not keeping my hopes up, by the looks of it anet is trying to hide the specialization, like if is not proud of it and with the 5 year history of rangers been the kittens sons of GW2, dont expect any better. JUst forget the ranger, play other classes and be happy i suppose.

For the GM traits from a different thread, thanks to mistsim. Can’t screenshot right now or I would.

Personally I think the stance sharing GM alone is incredibly strong support, especially given that some of the screenshots imply that you can bring AoE heals and boons with this spec too. Ultimately we’ll have to see how it works, but sharing out Bear, Dolyak, Wolf, and even Griffon stance looks like strong group utility, at least for PvP and WvW.

yea that sharing stance sound useful, specially bear and dolyak. I imagine some zerg groups might take a ranger just for that even if the rest of the specialization kinda end up been garbage lol. Bear is probably the strongest IMO if shared, in this condi meta going on that might end up been a most. Again the GM trait say for a reduced duration, so it might end up not been that good. Other classes can probably give stability and remove condi better. We have to wait and see

Again i think no one show soulbeast because rangers, as always, have been thrown under the bus. I want to see a detailed soulbeast video but my hopes have been dying down. Seen all the others specializations soulbeast have nothing special really, the damage must be amazing or something because as of now its probably the worse of them all.

That was 100% the impression I got from the amount of time they spent on it in the announcement. It felt like… I don’t know, Ventari at HoT launch or something, just something no one knew what to do with and was utterly awful so let’s not focus too much on it. No news is bad news when you’re trying to sell a product!

yea, is sad. When you see spellbreaker, elementalist, scourge and their traits, abilities is all a game changer. I do hope it turns out good, ranger is my main and the druid its just not for me really, I am not into healing and i hate the staff. Seen dagger main hand is also a condi weapon is another meeeh, not a big fan of condis. I dont know, knowing anet history with rangers it will be at best half good, not keeping my hopes up.

Ranger/soulbeast dagger dagger would seem like a nice pair of weapons but that horrible #5 skill on dagger off hand is so garbage, a waste. Ranger other than the specialization need many changes, as always IMO.

yep i saw the woodenpotatos video and no talk of ranger sadly because he do talk in depth about the few specializations he shows. Scourge look powerful with lot of boon hate and condi, spellbreaker again lot of boon hate, i think most are aimed to wvw and pvp in which boons have been dominating. The specializations look good and useful, sadly the few i have seen of soulbeast doesn’t look that impressive. Again i think no one show soulbeast because rangers, as always, have been thrown under the bus. I want to see a detailed soulbeast video but my hopes have been dying down. Wintersday, When will it be out ?? All my real decorations are out on my house. I take them down 2 days after Christmas. We are already almost done with the first week of December. I hope they don’t wait to late… Someone told me not till the 20th. Is this true ?; Could the game wait till Christmas is half done before releasing the event ???

2 days after Christmas? pssss in Puerto Rico we still have new years after Christmas, then on January 6 the 3 kings (if that is how you call it in English). After that 8 more days (octavitas) of party and Christmas.

Yea, i dont know why, i always try it but i never get into SAB. Its probably the event i mostly hate, i avoid it completely mostly. Good thing is it doesnt affect on anything the game, well maybe i lose the chance of earning those cool skins but thats about it.

Yea i notice, lot of mats are getting so cheap almost worthless, better to throw away. I think is due to now with berries and so many maps full of events people get too many mats for salvaging gear (wood, cloth, leather) and the supply keeps going up so prices will fall. The only thing still kind of expensive is T6 leather because there is still not a way to get it easily. Even T6 mats i think have gone down in price a bit. Now i am no economist, i hate all that actually but no idea if this is good or bad.

The same is happening to me kinda, i am using the burnzerker build or condition with vipers. Anyway i am no expert in warrior, i just gear mine for this like 2-3 days ago (all my other characters are pure damage so why not make one condi) but i am dying a lot, way more than on my thief or any other squishy class. No idea what i am doing wrong, maybe is the heal skill, i am using the rage one which turn ur damage into heal, maybe i am not doing enough dmg and dont heal me that much. No idea what is wrong but seriously i suck with it, even 2-3 mobs kill me.

Also on a side note is it ok in open world to substitute tactics for discipline? Tactics traits are mostly good for group play and since i play open world, alone mostly. Not like discipline bring anything to the table either, just the 25% movement speed increase lol.

My main is ranger but for WVW meeeh i kinda dont use it anymore. Druid is probably good to troll, roam since those kittens dont die lol. You can also use them in zergs but not like they are contributing much, better than thieves in zergs tho.

I gotta say all i have seen so far about the patch seem good. The only thing i kinda dont like was the amulet change tho now is easier IMO to get those agony infusions, already got 2 +11. I like that the new area give lot of salvageable things which give low tier cloth and leather which is good to lower those ridiculous prices and make ascended armor more accessible IMO, i am no economist lol. But so far i been liking it, the new area is cool.

Well to be honest anything works in open world PvE so if i were you, what i always do is go with a build that works mostly for fractals/raids (even tho i dont raid) and then in open world it would be ok since like i said anything works. I always try for a build that could work in everything because ascended gear is not cheap and i wont make another set. So my ranger is zerker and i use it for open world, in fractals it will work, on raids probably also i think there is an offensive healer build and for wvw well it works i suppose. I am thinking of changing my stats to zealot which can work also on many things, i think even for raids but i am no expert there.

If ya want a little more evade to outlast the other players and kill them with condi’s, go for Channeled vigor for your heals.w endurance refill and Signet of agility for the extra 3 dodges. +stanima sigil for full endurance refill on every kill

I edited my build and now it’s almost perfected. Only classes with very good cleansing survives. if not fighting against zerg I change shadowstep into spider venom. lotus training and impairing daggers adds poison and slow/cripple/torment to target. If I need to escape switch to SB.

In some situations I capped camps with 1 or 2 defenders without paying attention to them. Recovery of this build is very good. More damage you do more hp you recover. constant evasion is done by #3 and dodge combo. Which also applies/improves conditions to nearby targets.

Thou I lost to high spike dealers with very good condition dmg handling. power thieves usually run away as most of their stuns do not work.

i am using the same build, i was using it like this like last week then change it with deadly arts and now back to it again. Changed my gear and trinkets from sinister/carrio to all dire (although some are exotic but whatever) and is so fun. I been having some mini zerg fights, i go in and bother/troll some people out with a few strikes and then flee out with shadowstep and all that good stuff, very fun. You need to be fast with that shadowstep and SB 5 lol but is fun.

I am using on my build krait runes, i imagine they are also good for this? if there are any other better than those let me know.

i tried that build but well with squishy gear not dire. It survive more but how do you deal with the lost of deadly arts and poison on dagger attacks, more poison damage and all that? I dont think depending on just one condition (bleeding) is good, its easier to cleans and get rip of it, i dunno just saying.

If from a WvW perspective (or pve) the numbers are overstated. There are people who just feel that anything Condi is not skill based so anytime they lose to a condi build they complain about how “out of control” the build is. It the same people complaining over and over again about a build rarely used, giving the impression they are rampant in numbers.

Except a lot of the people complaining have tried these build and stopped playing them because it’s so easy it isn’t even fun.

I have literally 1v10’ed on my condi D/D thief. There are videos of people playing the build with their face because it’s so easy and overpowered (to think condi mesmer is worse…). A number of the people I’ve taught how to play power thief well have previously played condi and have admitted most condition builds take next to no skill after being exposed to playing glass builds and subsequently losing close to every fight they partake in for months on end when against reasonably skilled people.

easy lol i get owned all the time but then i suck at 1v1 and my reactions are slow lol. That been said i have entered entire zergs and came out alive and well. Is fun but like i said 1,2 hits and you are done. What do people use with this kind of build? full dire? I am currently using carrion and sinister trinkets, accessories. Maybe with full dire is better? i dont like full dire because i need to see at least some crits and big damage on the screen to feel i am doing something lol but maybe with full dire the build is “easier” i dont know, dont play the thief much.

Yeah it’s pretty squishy but fun. One of the main fun killer for me though with Condi Thief is the lack of swiftness. I actually started using Dash over Lotus and playing around with Venoms lately in WvW for the speed and defense.

yea i cant play a class without any kind of speed buff or anything, just feel so slow. That said shortbow #5 is ok, thief is probably the only one that doesnt need swiftness IMO, SB 5 and the traveling distance is the same as swiftness or close to it. You can also get that traitline that have swiftness on dodge, doesn’t last long but is something.

right now i was fighting a berzerker (yea i knew i was going to die) but when he gets in trouble he start to run away, no way to close the gap if everything is on cooldown. i suppose i should have run away too and dont give him the pleasure but he recover and i died. lol

It’s called Ebola.

There’s a few ways you can do it~ liek the ones posted basically Deadly Arts + DareDevil is required and Trickery for Damage, Acrobatics for Survival, Shadow Arts for Venoms.

I personally prefer Viper armor to enhance all the Durations, with 2 Carrion Trinkets for some HP atm.. I started trying out Rune of Thorns recently. I have like 98% poison duration and 50 something percent Bleed, I don’t remember exact number.

I am currently using a similar build to this one. Carrion gear, sinister trinkets so it have some vitality. Anyway i mostly do WVW and i like the build but too squishy. Anyway i am learning but i feel that P/D would be so much better, i like DD but it doesn’t have like a skill to get running targets. Only steal and the cooldown is a little long, if people start running away i miss D#3 and all that. Anyway anyone have some videos about people using this build or similar? maybe i can learn a few

If only Pistols could inflict Poison too.

yea i like the build, is good but requires practice and is hard, 1 mistake and 1-2 hits can kill you from a warrior or whatever. Still i like it, so many dodges lol. D/P is my favorite but i dont want to spend more gold in zerker gear, laurels and all that to get ascended trinkets when i have full ascended as condition (one of the reasons i went condi, i had half the gear ready to go) but i love dagger pistol, which it was more condi as you say lol. Anyway if someone have a video or tips let me know, my biggest problem with DD is when people start running away, maybe i should stop using steal at first and save it for when they run but i dont know.

mmmm almost good, first and most importantly why two longbows? Like someone said before me a greatsword or sword/axe would be so much better. Second you have too much precision. way to much. You should substitute that gear for berzerker or at least most of it, maybe marauder for extra vitality? up to you.

Sorry to kinda hijack your threat but i dont think this kinda deserve a new one. Like the OP i made 2 days ago an elementalist with the boost, mostly for wvw. Anyway i am not expert but i am using some kind of auramancer, with some celestial/soldier and staff. I survive nicely and i like the class but what bothers me is staff attacks are mostly so slow that when i run with the zerg by the time i cast everyone is dead and i dont get loot sometimes.

Staff seem to be the better option, dagger is very melee oriented right? well not melee but doesn’t have much range. Scepter i havent tried much, in the offhand the warhorn seem good but i dont know what is better? Staff is alright but its just so slow

The whole point is that I want to build a frontline/melee tempest to closely support the frontline party. I definitely had fun playing the traditional staff backline ele but I want a change.

I will go for d/f for sure. Warhorn is more of a midline support weapon.

yea i mean i want my elementalist to be more support and all that, kinda frontline but for some reason i am using the staff lol. I am probably better using dagger i am just not that comfortable going full melee with an ele or to go way to deep in the front tho to be honest i survive well, i have survived the biggest zergs running after me lol, love it. I want to support mostly but i also like look and dagger, i think not sure, doesnt have much aoe. As i said i dont know, might need to give dagger more tries, warhorn like you said is more mid line which i am ok with i suppose since i dont go full to the front most times.
