So, after hanging out in Timberline asking people to let the event fail (Always saying please, never asking more than once, and still several got upset) I have managed to kill that Shark 4 times without getting the tooth.
So I read the suggestion about the Shark in Southsun. Yep – it worked perfectly. I am not sure how often that event spawns but at least it’s not a must fail chain to get it to spawn. I got the tooth in just one attempt too (could be lucky I guess).
The event is named “Kill the reef Shark in Sawtooth Bay”.
It’s a Champion and you probably want a few friends to kill it. I asked in mapchat and there came 4-5 nice people helping.
Yea, if I was unclear it’s not really the branching out I mind. In fact, I think it’s great that failer or succeeded events lead to different results.
It’s the promotion of failing events that shocks me.
In the case of this one the Quaggans almost win just by themselves. I have been there watching the event several timeds, for well over 15 minutes each time, just to see a random player come along and finishing of a win – and that’s just the first step. You need two consecutive failed events…
Everytime me, and other players waiting, has asked in both map chat and direct whispers when someone comes Close to not make the event succeed. I use “please” and try to explain why I want it to fail.
I also try to not blame those random players too much even though they don’t answer to my whispers. After all, they only do what should come natural in the game – and they might not see – or understand my attempt at English.
I know for a fact not all even try to be polite any longer. It IS very frustrating. I have had random players apologize afterwards when they understand but I can’t really blame them – and I don’t even want them to feel bad because the see an event and join in to win it…
If there really is no other way to make that Giant Shark spawn this surely must be an overlaps by Anet? If I can’t even make myself think this is the intended behaviour Anet wants…
(edited by Nick.7259)
So, I like collections. I like precursors. I got interested in The Moot.
Target: Giant Shark Tooth from the Giant Shark in Timberline Falls.
After failed search going to the wiki. Wiki says we must fail not just one, but two consecutive events, in order for the Giant Shark to spawn?!?!
What is this? After all complaints about people farming failed events in Orr talk about events should be done as intended? And then there is a Anet design forcing us to fail events?
Please tell me the wiki is wrong and there is Another way to get that Shark to spawn?
Hi!
I had troubles finding two items in this collection – the starfish and the anchor in the Straits of Devastation. Then I realized the descriptions are swapped. The starfish is found in the area where anchor is described, and the anchor is found in the area where the starfish is described.
Thanks.
Nice catch!
So, they are out there but moving around?
Oh well, since nothing is happening with these boosters I did take one to test it – and it gave the new buff – not the improved buff.
Feels a Little crappy since I used 35 of my old exp boosters just to have these ready for the HoT release and they were working well the day Before HoT was released…
Does anyone know how I/we can find those merchant unlocked from the mastery Supply Line Management?
Is that some siblings from that Treveller with Yakkington in GW1 or how does it work?
Hi!
Before Masteries I, as a veteran player, didn’t worry much about experience. When I was planning for the Masteries I tried to maximize experience gained and double checked what exp bonuses stacked or not.
After your change to experience boosters it turned a little harder to experiment but I managed to use my last old experience boosters and make 7 Improved Experience Boosters. I was hoping to put them to good use, +100 % Exp for 2 hours each and stacking with other bonuses.
With HoT however the text on the Improved boosters look exactly the same as on the new Experience boosters, giving 50 % for 20 min instead.
I sure hope that wasn’t an intended nerf.
I guess it might even be a presentation error but since I have only 7 left and can’t make any more I didn’t want to risk it now…
Can I (and I assume others with Improved experience boosters) please have their function restored?
No sir, you can get the old precursors with the precursor crafting.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-legendary-journey/“Once you have your completed precursor, you are free to begin the process of turning it into a legendary weapon. It’s a long process of gathering the required materials to craft gifts that will eventually be given to Zommoros—the djinn at the heart of the Mystic Forge—who in return gifts you with your powerful legendary weapon.”
Ummm
No, the completed precursor they are talking about is the NEW one. The NEW ones use the NEW method. The OLD ones will still use the OLD method and ONLY the OLD method.
The devs have mentioned that time and again in several streams and notes.
Please stop spreading bad info like this!
The examples devs have talked about for precursor crafting have been both The Colossus as well and The Energizer, clearly old precursors.
It’s an added way on how to get the precursor. The recipe for the Legendary hasn’t changed…
Gift of Fortune will still be needed for the “old” Legendaries… it’s not going away…
Hi!
I would love if there was something showing who places toys in the world, similar to banners. I would prefer if the character name showed, like “courtesy of XXX” instead of a Guild tag. Then we know who to thank for the water balloon fight, bobbleheads or other fun items.
As another good side effect, someone trolling by placing aviator boxes etc on chests for hours straight disrupting other players game wouldn’t be able to anonymously hide.
I think it would be neat to show for wvw-siege and other placed items as well. “ownership” is obviously being tracked for those anyway…
I smell rollback.
Won’t happen. The most they’d do is ban anyone that created hundreds of characters prior to them disabling it. Anyone that did collect multiple chests may find that they’ve taken out a loan and won’t be receiving them for however many days they’ve taken.
That would be a nice solution for this bug. I was debating myself if I should log onto my Daily rotation through lvl 25 alts parked at JPs etc and decided that I shouldn’t have to avoid my alts just because Anet made this bug. Just as OP I didn’t open the chests but I doubt there is an easy way for Anet to remove them.
A suspended Daily for the X-Days to come makes sense to me.
Soooo, I am a 3 years veteran but I have never seen this many Connection errors and bad downloads as these last two patches.
What is happening? Sure, more accounts as free-to-play could explain som extra load but this? This behaviour is new. What has changed? Can we do something about it?
I understand it’s in Anets interest to get us playing quickly and smoothly but I am getting really, really worried about the download times at release of HoT. I want to be there from the start but…
Any chance we can pre-download most of it or mirror site or or or???
I am closing in on 50 and enjoy the game very much. I’ve met several people many years older than me playing. Age doesn’t really matter. Let her try a free to play and test for herself?
And if she feels a little lost there are plenty of casual Guilds out there, even those with age restrictions like 30-and up, if she ends up a Little shy of all youngsters :-
If you have all other materials and has discovered all you can but still are only at 434 leatherworker I would guess that you haven’t bought the inscriptions for karma from the merchant? There are rare and exotic inscriptions there that are used in high level recipes. And if you would reach 500 in leather crafting long before you have discovered all possible recipes.
(Btw, I would advice to try to go cheap to 500 in crafting – no need to discover every recipe. It’s expensive enough just getting to 500. From 450→475 you can Craft ascended materials fairly cheap. But up to 450 and from 475→500 your best option is probably to discover some exotic recipes.)
Good luck!
The booster works on wxp yes, you rank up on your wvw-rank faster…
And as said earlier it doesn’t work on pvp rank-Points, only the reward-track.
Wait, what happened to silk?
It used to take 2 silk scraps to make 1 bolt of silk.
But before ascended armour people didn’t use much silk and the market were flooded and people sold silk directly to the merchants.
Because of that, when ascended armor were introduced the recipe for a bolt changed to take 3 scraps, and instead of the normal 50 bolts, as used for the other ascended recipes, Bolts of Damask instead requires 100 bolts of silk.
The “small” problem is that you need more Bolts of Damask than any other parts to make a set of armor, even when you make Heavy armor…
I believe Anet were surprised them self how quickly when used up the silk that had been Close to useless… :-)
Gold-Fed doesn’t make sense. Copper-Fed and Silver-Fed both salvage all the items, the difference is % of recovering upgrades, and not the item quality. Therefore, it would only make sense to upgrade Copper/Silver to work with Ascended.
The Copper-Fed is an everlasting Basic salvage kit.
The Silver-Fed is an everlasting Master salvage kit.
If the Basic and Master salvage kits won’t be able to salvage ascended items it makes perfect sense to me that Copper and Silver won’t be able to.
And I do have bought both Copper and Silver more than once for my characters…
Pvp tracks seems resetted too. I can’t choose any dungeon tracks.
The current track I was up showed as empty but after playing a match shows what appears to be a correct bar giving correct reward.
I was able to access HoM and get my skins from there but some guildies says the vendor is still locked.
Traits and skills have to be unlocked again in the hero panel for what seems to be all my toons. Some guildies say it’s only the first character they logged in with. I can change skills but not traits without relearning those.
All Living story parts are gone and shows I have to pay 200 gold to unlock. The achievements are blanked out as well as achievements from SW and Dry Top. The Points haven’t been removed from my account though so probably just display bug?
I did the LS 1 recap on one toon. It shows on the achievement summary. When I log onto Another toon and look under achievments / hero it displays as still to be done.
That’s what I have seen so far…
I did LS 2 with achievements on my ele and I know there are plenty of better eles put there. Some things are easier done with specific professions but all are quite doable.
Nope I still can’t pass that level. Guess I am not 1337 enough to play HoT then.
I am amazed at the reasoning here.
The OP has problems with soloing one fight in one step of one story and therefor decides “Living Story Season 2 too difficult”. And since he/she still can’t pass it, solo, he/she isn’t leet enough to play HoT?
Wow!
I feel a loss of words… I won’t even try to match that amazing level of deduction.
My personal thoughts about Living Story Season 2 is that it was fairly easy to do with a few tough, but no way too tough, achievements.
And I seriously doubt soloing Everything in LS2 is a requirement to enjoy HoT.
As for the OPs problem with that fight it’s “only” to figure out the mechanic of the fight, and then be patient enough to end the fight. The opponents in there aren’t very tough, but sure, you can’t stand still on the red circles and expect to win.
I did LS 2 with achievements on my ele and I know there are plenty of better eles put there. Some things are easier done with specific professions but all are quite doable.
I am fairly sure the main reason for lack of dps is that the rev isn’t finished, nor tuned. And of course, dps would most likely have been better if Shiro-legend had been ready in this Beta. K
Thanks X M for excellent explanation. At least I now understand how it works. If it’s a feature or not remains to be seen…
Yea, I saw that note about them being possible to crit. I have only done Shatterer and Behe today and didn’t see any crits. At Shatterer I scrolled back in the log and didn’t see any crits on him at all, and I run with 40 % crits…
So my first impression is that they got their health doubled but we didn’t get the promised crits?
So, I log on and start doing world-bosses. As expected they take longer time with double health but I notice I am not doing any crits (with 40 % chance). I asked in mapchat and it seems noone is doing crits?
Deva are not allowed to communicate with us on the forums. It’s company policy.
Ofcourse devs are allowed to post here. There is even a dev-tracker. Just that it doesn’t work when devs choose to use other forums…
Have you ever read these forums? I wouldn’t want to come here if I had anything important to say.
Sure, things can get toxic. Yet more than a few devs post here regularly.
Still, others choose to post actively on other forums and discuss what they work on, answering direct questions about upcomming changes like tomorrow on the 23rd. I know of devs that actively post like that every week and yet on the official forums have less posts in a year than fingers on one hand.
Ofcourse Anet should keep giving interviews and it’s good that questions are being answered on other forums. Just that I often think it’s frustrating how slow the respons on these forums can be to things people discuss here.
I can’t help but think that it even would affect the atmosphere here if some devs were as active here giving direct answers (when they can) as they de facto are on other forums.
Hi!
I just wanted to say I have mixed feelings about devs communicating and giving news on other forums like reddit, without the news being given here.
Sure, it IS great when devs do communicate but shouldn’t it be mainly in these forums here instead?
I don’t understand what problem a change like this would solve.
Also I have already done all General stuff on my toons, mapping and personal story on my 8 lvl 80s (one for each profession) etc etc – what would possible be gained from “forcing” me to redo it? (I know plenty of people have done them more times and I know it’s completely of my own will but but….)
Achievement Points are there for people who like collecting, they don’t mean much more than showing the dedications to collect. What on earth is the gain in getting rid of peoples, and mine, collections?
I agree that if you are willing to pay the base price for HoT at 50 you might as well buy Ultimate for 100 – but I am not very happy with this setup anyway. It’s just plain greedy by Anet. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s clear they really really need money.
My fear is that this is a cathastriphic move though. This will not bring lots of new players to the game. And a huge portion of the faithful core players are being given the finger this way. Will this really lead to a sustainable environment for future gaming?
Also, the phrase “not be available as an upgrade and must be purchased as a full game package” confuses me. All are available with the core game aren’t they? So “no-upgrade” means we can’t add Ultimate to an excisting account or why is the “no-upgrade” used?
I might be wrong but the way I read the article was that we keep skill Points for skills from skill challenges and levelling up.
Only the excess skill Points from consumeables will be converted into spirit shards.
But that will give a problem with characters with 100 % map completion and currently 0 skill Points since they have been used. If Anet introduces new skills that I have to buy – how do I gain more skill Points when the consumeables on give spirit shards?
Yep. After the streaming update I consistently have longer loading times when changing maps, even when going back to a map that I recently visited (I thought there were som caching involved?).
Even though it’s only a few seconds it’s still very annoying. Especially when trying to catch an event.
I agree. The forced waiting period is extremely boring. Whenever I go to try some unranked I quickly get fed up with waiting 2-3 minutes in queues. It really was a very bad change to keep us locked up like that.
So I guess it for some reason was necessary to have us waiting in one place. I understand that Anet might not want to have everything accessible for free, but, if we really have to spend 2-3 minutes between matches in this boring locked place, at least give us crafting stations and a Forge to keep us entertained.
I would love to see more categories, or filters, to the LFG tool. Like filtering for people in your current area (like SW maps or Frostgorge chestfarm). Maybe a World boss tour category and more. There are so many different stuff being announced in the “main” channel (together with the lfg/wts crap).
Personally I think Silverwastes is very well designed.
The problem with the area, as I see it, is that Silverwastes still gives too much rewards for too little effort, even after all nerfs. Just as brilliantly designed it was, and still is, poorly balanced. (Might be a trick to make us play more in “new” areas I guess – but I don’t feel it still is new.)
Also, the introduction of the area in all those layers over months did make us grind the area even more so I got kinda bored of it even before the Vinewrath was added.
Ah, yes, it is pretty much one of a kind too. It would have been nice with more areas of this semi-carefree-cooperation to make for more diversity and fun. (Dry Top is close I guess but require more serious organization and dedication to reach top tiers.)
Even with unbalanced loot, imho, I think that both Dry Top and SW has been great steps towards more fun and active maps were all the players get to work together towards a goal. I think it is very promising for the future and HoT – whenever it comes :-)
I would love to get more officla statements about how MF works, especially when new mechanics and phrasing is introduced like in SW and bandit chests and like the account, or no account MF during Lunar New Year event (both phrasings were used for the same items) as well as DR but I guess I have to respect that the war against bot takes presidence.
Anyway, one test I did myself, although I suspected the answer, was collecting 2000 embroidered purses from SW and then opening 1000 at MF 800 and afterwards opening 1000 at MF 304 and compare the drops/salvages.
Well, the data I collected show absolutely no significant difference in loot, salvage results or any DR – as suspected (even though there are many popular theories out there).
Hi!
I am on vacation in Maldives (so I guess I shouldn’t even try to play GW2 but hey, I am addicted!). The internet Connection is really bad but I did manage to play and do a few daileys etc. But, after the latest update it all fails directly when trying to update.
I guess it might be due to restrictions at the hotel facility with their internet? But I wanted to try to ask here for advice at least before giving up.
What happens is that when I start the client it starts and tries to update the content showing 0 as usually – then directly stops with the message “Download failed! Please check your internet connection and try again. (4)”
I know the connection is bad but I can read mail, webpages, use Facebook and what’s app (sometimes needing several tries to send a picture but the connection is there).
Is there anything I can do to help the download or is it just blocked by the provider somehow or needs a better connection to even recognize it’s there? (I did manage to play for a few days although laggy.)
Thanks!
I am in shock that Anet makes changes to a dungeon and not even test it ONCE before release.
And the fix will at least take a week? Seriously?!
Marionette would make a cool Fractal lvl 60 – kinda hard to solo each lane but it’s a lvl 60 Fractal so it sholdn’t be easy ;-)
Several of the account bound minis can’t be put into the forge…
Yeah! No more inappropriate names. I hate hwen I’m browsing the forum and I see something like Nick.7259 this is a major trigger for me anet pls fix these inappropriate names
lol, well, then you would probably feel right at home reading pet-names describing sexual acts they want to have with your mother etc…
Enough is enough
I see more and more are naming their Pets…
There is no Pet-option when reporting so I hope a report for Inappropriate Character Name will lead to the GM checking it also looking at the Pet name…
The REAL problem with this limit is that gold sellers and hackers won’t be stopped at all. They will just buy something expensive on the trade post and mail that instead!
It will certainly put a wrench in their works.
Certainly?
In original GW we had ecto-based economy, with prices in z-keys and armbraces as well.
But yea, that will never happen again? lol
Putting a break on 500 gold will not stop hackers and gold sellers. I am sorry, that’s just a fact.
But but but! Why keep arguing if players and guilds are effected?!?!?!
The REAL problem with this limit is that gold sellers and hackers won’t be stopped at all. They will just buy something expensive on the trade post and mail that instead!
That also means that we will get unwanted, weird behaviour on the trade post when someone suddenly buys 3000 charged lodestones just to transfer wealth….
If the goal is to make it harder for hackers and gold Sellers it’s the transfer of wealth that should be stopped – not just gold…
I think the kittenizer is great. But a few times I have seen words in my texted changed to “kitten”, and I have no idea what was offensive or what triggered. Is there a random function too? lol
Well, English is not my first language so I guess I might miss some words that are indeed offensive in English.
It is designed to prevent rapid and abusive transfers of gold that may be part of account takeovers, fraud, and RMT (gold selling).
And what is stopping them from rapidly buying a stack of charged lodestones and mailing those instead?
If these changes would actually prevent abusive transfers I would be all for them but as long as you can mail valuable items instead, a limit on gold transfers simply won’t stop anyone.
If only gold will be limited I instead predict huge and sudden trades on the TP and I fear that it could turn into an even larger problem offsetting any true demand/supply functionality on several different items of higher trade value…
I confess I use the farm servers – mostly because I am lazy and not very found of true pvp.
These farming servers have been in game almost since launch of Gw2 and Anet has done some changes to the game that made the farm servers less profitable. I am sure they could have hit farm servers harder had they wanted.
That said, going into true pvp fights does pump up the adrenaline and even a bad pvp’er as my self does get a few kills and, when ranking works, usually fight against other bad pvp’ers – so getting those daily wins isn’t extremely hard, just takes some more concentration – but with much higher rank rewards / track rewards than the farm servers…
Now, what really makes me confused are those people repeatedly targetting farm servers and picking fights in there. I know of several players just going in there with the aim to make a mess. I mean – if you want true pvp why go to the farm server were people will, at best, have a farm-pvp-build?
Btw, pvp-farming isn’t really a new concept… Remember Red-Resign days in original gw? :-)
Hmm, is that 3 Collections for each pre-cursor – making it 60 Collections to do for all 20 current pre-cursors + 3 more Collections each for every incomming precursor?
