Its a pretty common theme to have some wargod with fire powers or a big flaming sword in pretty much every game. WoW players seem to think everything in WoW came first when that’s far from the case. Apparently they’ve never heard of Rallos Zek from Everquest. He was around way before WoW even existed.

But stop trying to deflect from the fact that condi as a whole is way too overpowered in its current form and has very little risk for very high reward.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer to fight actual skilled opponents, not fight against game mechanics. If i wanted to fight against game mechanics, i’d just play pve. When i’m fighting someone in pvp, I prefer them to be using something that takes equal effort for them to play as I do. Condi builds take nowhere near the same effort to play as power builds do. And that is where most of the complaints come from. The risk/reward ratio is WAY off for playing condi. Which is why it feels unrewarding to beat someone whos playing a condi build now. You aren’t truly fighting the person, you’re fighting against broken mechanics.

An unskilled person could play a condi build, and take just as much effort to kill them as it would to kill a skilled player using a power build. Which is wrong. The lesser skilled person should die faster regardless of what type of build they use, but that isnt the case with the current form of condi builds because they carry so hard. If 2 people of equal skill fight eachother, one using power and the other using condi, the condi build will always come out on top. If you beat a condi user when you’re playing a power build, that just means that you are a better player than they are. I’ve tested this with friends who I duel fairly regularly. Given equal skill, the condi build will always triumph over power. There’s no dispute about it.

My builds are mostly Power. I prefer power. I would like diversity to remain rather then have it all go back to power.

And no the condition build does NOT win every fight.

Did i say condi wins every fight? No, I said condi wins every fight if both players have equal skill, which is true. I and many other players have tested it. If you are both of equal skill, the one playing condi will always win. Power can beat condi, provided the one playing power is more skilled than the one playing condi.

It could end up being something horrible, it could open up new strategies in fighting. I guess we wont know until it happenes. Made me think of something though. Upgraded towers and keeps have cannons on them. Why not also make cannons able to shoot upwards? Or maybe also add some SAM sites that can only shoot upwards that can take out people flying?

I can kill them, that’s not the point. it isn’t fun to fight against someone that has to put in minimal effort to fight me. And that’s precisely what condi allows players to do in it’s current state. It allows players to punch above their weight limit and compete against people the would normally stand zero chance against and would most likely die in a millisecond when fighting against them.

When i kill some annoying condi scrub that just facetanks and never dodges, just because their cheese build allows them to play poorly and not be punished for mistakes, while i have to play perfectly to kill them, its not the least bit fun. I don’t feel accomplished by killing them, i feel frustration that poor game mechanics can carry someone that hard who I know for a fact if they weren’t playing some tanky condi build, would have died in a split second against me making the same mistakes. Its a risk vs reward issue NOT a skill issue. Are you really that ignorant that you can’t comprehend that? Or are you just trying to troll me at this point?

And look how well that’s worked out so far. enjoy the continuing declining population as players get better and realize how shallow the current gameplay is and leave for something else. You also can’t cater to the lowest common denominator like they are now. Condi carries way too hard as it is now. There has to be risk vs reward in every build, and current condi builds are all reward and no risk compared to power builds. I’d like to fight something besides just condi mes, condi thief, condi warriors, and condi druids. But thats the only thing you find when roaming anymore because its so easy to play and so rewarding for the little effort required to play them. Something needs to be done about the current condi meta. Its far too brainless and unfun for the majority of people to play against. Just because you’re a masochist, doesn’t mean everyone enjoys that crap.

Yes, in the small scale, which is what this thread is about. You scale the battles up in numbers and these problems evaporate. Not that a condi mes or thief are likely to get a group in a zerg.

But there is a lot of smaller group action outside T1-2/ NA prime time. I understand the game mode is about large scale battles. But surely they could at least take a look at how classes are performing in a microcosm. Considering as the population shrinks more emphasis is on smaller scale conflicts.

Personally, I just hope they’ll ignore all the whining zerglings and pvers, and low skill players who are carried by condi and finally just nerf the hell out of condi for the good of the game. Are they really that blind that they cant see the massive dip the population took after the condi changes? Its no coincidence.

The only people that enjoy the current condi meta are low skill players who were unable to compete in the previous meta that had a concept of risk/reward for builds. Now they can play as poorly as they want and be carried by tons of passives and massive damage while being tanky. I cant say I really blame them for it. Its like being the kid that never gets picked to play on the team, then suddenly being drafted by the NBA, even though you don’t deserve to be there. You wouldn’t want that taken away from you. But its not fun for the rest of the people that actually earned the right to be there on the top and have to play with you while you play poorly and still succeed.

I hope to upgrade them to legendary ppl will need 300 provisioner tokens.
I’m happy everyone in the game will get legendary armor but I hope the way to make it its fair compared to the raid armor..

Why would we need that? Provisioner tokens are PVE content. This is wvw and pvp related. So why should we have to grind a bunch of mind numbing pve events to get wvw armor? makes zero sense. What’s with you pvers constantly trying to force us to do pve? How would you feel if in order to do the new living story you had to reach rank 2k in wvw? Stop trying to force people into content that you like that they dont want to do. Just because you enjoy pve doesn’t mean everyone does.

The pvp and wvw versions shouldnt require any pve involvement at all. WE DO NOT WANT TO PLAY PVE. When will you people understand that? If we liked pve, we could have just done raids to get armor.

Just be happy that you pvers get to keep your shiny skins. All we wanted if for is the functionality, and thats what we got. You still got the fancier armor, so NO, it shouldnt require as much crap as the pve raid armor. Unless you dont mind wvwers getting the raid skins? Stop complaining and just be happy you get your own unique skins that wvw players will never have.

Very little balance for small scale action which unfortunately during some time zones or outside tier 1/2, is all there is. People just log off rather than deal with the terrible balance in WvW small scale.

Struggle to kill anything on the power based scrapper. Log on my condi chrono, roll my face across the keyboard whilst watching netflix on my second monitor. Collect bags and not die for over an hr.

Player skill also factors chora. Some players are more suited to certain playstyles than others. Maybe you’re just better at the mesmer playstyle than the engie.

I’ve seen power scrappers rip through 3-4 enemies with ease, I’ve also seen power scrappers die horribly without being able to do much in a 1v1 situation.

For me personally I can be on my alt account on a vanilla necro with Carrion masterwork armor and a random assortment of exotic and masterwork trinkets like knights, cavaliers etc and I can beat people sometimes in 1v2 situations. But put me on an engie with full ascended and I get rolled by bronze rankers or lower.

Its not a skill issue here. I’ve played with Chorazin before. We used to be in the same guild [lion] way back before HoT was out. Dude knows what he’s doing, so trust me its not a skill issue. I think the point he was trying to make is how broken alot of builds are now. You can play to perfection on some things and be nowhere as effective on that build as a brand new player on another build is. Condi mes is a perfect example of this. No matter how terrible you are, it carries HARD. its nearly impossible to die on it even when outnumbered no matter how bad you are because of how stupidly overpowered it is. Pretty sure he was just making a risk vs reward comparison.

Serious question here. Will it make a difference which gifts I use to upgrade it? Say for example i have the whole pvp set, can i use the wvw gifts to upgrade that? Or will i need pvp gifts to upgrade pvp armor, and wvw gifts to upgrade wvw armor? Or are they interchangeable?

They aren’t interchangeable apparently, pvp armor can only be upgraded with pvp gifts.

Ah I was afraid of that. Guess i need to suffer through 1 more season with incompetent teammates who somehow even when you get to high gold/plat play like morons who’s only pvp experience is farming daily maps in custom arenas. I really hope they bring back 5 vs 5 so i can go in with a team of my friends and not end up with random idiots i cant communicate with who refuse to cooperate. I played maybe for 1 week this season when it first started, got to gold 3, then said F it because it was too frustrating. I really would be better off finishing the wvw set, but it seems like such a waste not to upgrade the full set of pvp gear i already have.

I just want to know since i have a whole set of the pvp armor already and only some of the wvw ones. But i like wvw more than pvp, so if I can, I’d rather just spend my time in wvw and use those gifts to upgrade my already full set of pvp armor. I’d rather not deal with all the mouthbreathers in pvp anymore than i have to. But, i already have the whole set so it seems like a waste not to upgrade that.

How about fixing the balance in combat before adding more pve stuff into wvw? You can add gliding, yet can’t separate balance from pve? Retal is different in all modes, condis should be different in wvw as well. You DO have the ability to separate skills and mechanics per mode. Why you still choose not to, when its the one most requested thing by wvw players since the first year this game was out for, yet keep adding pve crap we don’t ask for is beyond me.

Gaile, this is incredibly wrong. We worked hard – hundreds of gold pieces to make those ascended armors and now you’re going to take ALL of our hard work and gold away?

Redundant? What about power? What about condi? Those are on gear and food?

What about ferocity? What about precision? Those are on weapons and gear too.

This is incredibly unfair and not well though out at all!

Are you all forgetting they did this with ferocity too? All of us that used to play power had to deal with our builds getting nerfed and having to change our mixed gear sets because what we ran was no longer viable after the change. Then the condi meta we’ve had to deal with for the past few years as a result of power getting shafted and becoming irrelevant in roaming and condi being bumped up with every single patch. Now they’re finally starting to balance out how broken and unbalanced its been, and people that got used to their easy ride are having panic attacks.

I’ll say what you all said to us back then. I’d link the posts from back then if this forums search feature wasn’t compete trash. “Suck it up, adapt. Grind a bit and change your build and find something more effective.” I hope this is only the beginning of changes to come to address the massive imbalance currently in roaming. It would be nice to fight something besides condi mesmers and condi thieves and the occasional condi warrior for once. Oh and lets not forget the occasional run away, non stop healing druid with 2+ minutes of every boon in the game on them. Hopefully the concentration nerfs curb them in as well.

Can we also get some new stats and foods added that will give more minus condition duration and minus condition damage? Its already quite easy to make a build in wvw that’s virtually immune to physical damage PASSIVELY. I run such builds myself. Its kind of unbalanced that there are ways that i can /sleep and take close to no damage from 5+ power users attacking me.

Yet even if fully built to be anti condi with every rune, trait, cleanse and food available for my class, i can still evaporate in a split second from some condi builds from just a single player. The damage on condi builds are WAY too high for very little risk involved in playing them. I hope this will be addressed. At the very least, cap conditions at 10 stacks for wvw only and cut their duration down to about 1/4 what it is now in wvw only. Or make traits and foods that give a % reduction to power damage also work on condi damage. And since you made vuln work on condi, how about doing the same for protection?

You’ve already proven you have the ability to separate skills and the way certain mechanics work per mode, can we please have more of that? Retal works different in all 3 modes. Can we go back to the old version of confusion for wvw only so it doesnt tick passively and do the same for torment as well? I still cant grasp why a change that was made so those condis weren’t useless in pve were brought into wvw as well where those 2 condis were already grossly overpowered.

I just hope they will introduce new stats, and new foods that will give -condition duration and damage so we have that as an option if we want to be virtually immune to condi as its already possible to make a build to make you virtually immune to power damage.

Its glassy, how is this a problem? Stuff like dire is broken because it doesnt have to give up defense to do the same damage as zerker. This gives up all defense for extreme offense. I doubt it will be a problem at all.

I’d have to agree with you on this. I’m relatively tanky on my thief and still hit everyone for 8k+ backstabs. With the exception of druids of course with their 89088748617 passive abilities and crapton of damage reduction. So, unless its a broken druid you’re fighting, you should be hitting alot harder unless your build is crap. If i can backstab people for 8k in maruaders gear with defender runes…..yeah.

I was fighting a warrior who likely had some tanky gear, with some tanky runes and some tanky traits – so yeah – I should be hitting a lot harder, giving that he hit me harder than I hit him while he’s got a healthpool which is +1.5 times my healthpool. Just go out and play thief some more to see whether or not you hit everybody for 8k or if your build is crap.

Oh well, my bad then. You should have stated it was against a warrior. they may be subpar in pvp, but still broken af in wvw. Warrior, mes, and druid have all been stupidly broken and zero effort required, braindead gameplay for quite awhile now. What is risk vs reward? those 3 classes sure as hell don’t know the definition of that, atleast in wvw. But hey, they suck in other modes so its ok for them to be stupidly overpowered in wvw right? -cough-separate balance for all 3 modes-cough-

From the way they described the tempest, I thought it was going to be a front line support role. The weaver seems to be more of a offensive condition/power hybrid spec. The WP videos showed it with a power/condition main stat and ferocity/precision 2nd stat collection weapon.

I hope you’re right. I made an ele to play a dps role. We keep being forced into defensive/support roles while every other class but us has a viable dps spec. What’s a mage without the damage? A pathetic priest, and who wants to play a priest in an rpg.

You’re just the boon monkey/support puppet for the other classes that actually do something as a priest. Its an incredibly boring role to play. Its long past our time to have a viable dps role in pvp and wvw that has a fair risk/reward ratio to it. Unlike all the current elite specs for other classes which are all reward and zero to little risk while if we want to do any type of damage, we actually have to give up all our defense to do so, and are still subpar compared to the other classes that give up nothing to be able to do even more damage than we do.

I don’t know about that. I don’t get how people say the game is pay2win. Are you just parroting what you’ve heard other people say? I’ve never felt like I had to spend a dime on the game at all to get ahead. I just get costumes because i think they’re sexy. Even if you’re dumb enough to spend thousands of dollars on the game and sell costumes on the market, there’s a limit to how many pearl items you’re allowed to sell. If you sell the max, that’s like 120 mil, which is chump change. I can get more than that farming for a few hours. and considering the best gear in the game will cost you billions, and is all RNG whether or not you can upgrade it regardless of how much you spend, I fail to see the pay2win.

It cost me nothing but time and luck to get my boss gear and upgrade it. Never spent a dime on any of the convenience items. thats all it really is. convenience items similar to the exp boosters and inventory expansion in gw2. Are those things pay2win in gw2? They work the same way there, so if you argue that they arent pay2win in gw2 but somehow magically are in black desert, you’re a fool.

The only thing i would even slightly consider pay2win would be artisan memories to repair weapons, but the cost for those doesnt justify ever buying them unless you’re either stupid or have enough money to wipe your butt with as its easier and cheaper to just run scrolls and use memory fragments to repair gear.

As for combat, you do know you can turn off all those effects clogging the screen if you cant see whats going on. Wow something gw2 failed to do and just made everything look crappy in combat rather than giving us sliders for it! And the combat in BDO is superior in every way. Given both parties fighting have equal gear, its all about timing and positioning and which skills to do when. Its not just passive crap protecting you while you brainlessly spam conditions like gw2 combat has devolved into.

But let’s be real here: It’s very obvious things are about to get even more imbalanced with the new expansion. The new specs look absolutely and tremendously poorly-designed and a number of already-dominant ones appear completely overpowered in their design and implementations.

We can only hope CU eventually comes out and is any good.

Dude, Like i keep telling everyone, Black Desert. I’ve managed to convince most of my friends to go over and we’ve been having a blast. There’s lots of old GW2 guilds there as well that changed over to that game and arent coming back. Don’t listen to the negative reviews and idiots parroting false information they’ve seen somewhere on a random angry reviewer’s website without doing any research themselves.

Just warning you, it is a MASSIVE grind to get to the point where you can actually participate in pvp. But i wasnt playing GW2 much at all since after HoT, so i figured what the hell. It was totally worth it. The node wars remind me of the old glory days of wvw when skill and strategy actually mattered. You’re looking at nearly a year to get geared up enough, but when you do it is totally worth the investment. You can get a free 7 day trial to play around with it, though you wont get very far into the game in just a week, but you can see what its like for yourself with your own eyes atleast.

As several people mentioned, and Mo mentioned in the AMA, we release on our own cadence and will continue to release updates for WvW outside of the expansion release.

I also wanted to let everyone know that today is all about announcing the expansion, but later this week we will be talking about some of the upcoming updates for WvW.

Cadence: The flow or rhythm of events. The beat, rate, or measure of any rhythmic movement.

WvW Development “Cadence” is the equivalent to stretching a bad pop song out over the course of 5 or so years and occasionally you get some bad synth line where you force yourself to hear it only because you’re stubborn and want it to go somewhere.

My obvious cynicism aside, I would love to hear about some cool stuff for WvW. Right now we’re In J Biebs Condi Meta Chorus.

How wonderfully appropriate. The condi meta right now does feel like listening to modern pop music. Although i would compare listening Beiber more to a Pulmonary Impact than I would to condis, unless you count torment and confusion. Can we go back to rock or metal Anet? Please bring back Metallica meta! Thanks to you I will now forever refer to a skill based power meta to the Metallica meta.

Don’t get excited for it. We all expected to have a viable dps spec when tempest came out and they showed the skills. Forced into braindead support role. Haven’t you gotten the memo that despite the class description ele isn’t allowed to do dps in a pvp setting because its broken. Even if every other class can do 10 times the damage we do by pressing 1 button, if we manage to kill someone, NERF!

Don’t expect to ever have a viable dps spec for ele, we aren’t allowed to have one, every time someone figures out how to do damage outside of pve, they nerf it into the ground. If you want to be a mage and actually do damage, play Black Desert. Atleast being squishy there comes with the damage to back it up.

Being squishy in gw2 just means you die faster while still doing the same damage or less than other classes. 5-10k autos on rev hammer when using a build that still has 2800 armor? perfectly balanced. 5-10k damage on a 30s cd ele skill that you can literally sidestep to avoid being hit by on a class that sacrifices all its defense and can die from a light fart to get that damage? Better nerf the damage some more! Oh, but we have 40k dps in PvE! Because that makes such a difference in pvp right? Because other players will stand still and have huge hitboxes and wont dodge out of our long cast times right? I love the idiots that justify ele nerfs because of pve when its been trash in pvp for years as far as a viable dps build goes.

All i expect is more skill-less condi spam and braindead passives to carry bad players. Everyone will do ridiculous amounts of damage with little effort because “Mah Raid clear timeZ!” and they refuse to do the sensible thing and separate balance from pve. So we will just suffer the effect of whatever OP crap is needed to clear the new “challenging” pve content.

I can’t wait for the new condi spam mesmer spec to come out, because chrono isn’t broken enough when roaming, lets bring in something that will make the old clone death condi build from way back look fair. And anet seems to have a hard on for making mesmer stupidly broken in wvw with every update because they don’t know how to make it more useful in pve aside from “MOAR DPS SPAM!”, and haven’t yet gotten the hint that we need skill separation from pve. Oh and lets not forget necro that supposedly has more mobility now and will have burns. That doesn’t sound broken at all, because necro is so balanced right now in wvw.

Too many baddie zerg players getting juked chasing 1 person with 20 complained they were having trouble blobbing down a single thief. So they took away the jukes to appease the terrible pve players.

Oh, really? I wasn’t aware such a thing existed; that’s actually very interesting. Is there a time table for when NA BDO servers will get this?

Unfortunately I have no idea. Korea only recently got it, so it will probably be awhile before we get it. We still haven’t even gotten part 1 for the Kamasylvia expansion, and Korea is already in part 2. And they got the arena after that. So its a good possibility we wont be getting it for awhile whenever they decide to release Kamasylvia for our region.

LOL, okay. It’s “purely skill based” only after you dump hundreds of hours into the game, which for the most part involves getting trashed by top-tier players at Sausen or pirates when you accidentally stumble into their instance.

I have friends of mine from ArcheAge that have full-timed that game since it came out. They literally 1v10 people; if that’s something that interests you, so be it, but you couldn’t pick a game more far removed from the qualities that made up Guild Wars 2.

The completely horizontal PvP progression is what drove this game’s popularity, and until another game on the market offers it—and with a competent PvP team that balances their modes regularly—Guild Wars 2 will continue to have zero competition.

It’s pretty telling when PvE-oriented MMOs like FFXIV and World of Warcraft offer a closer comparison to Guild Wars 2 PvP than Black Desert does.

That’s why GW2 is such a success with esports and has thousands of people watching the pvp streams all the time right? Oh yeah, that’s right, GW2 was dropped by ESL. So tell me again how GW2 has zero competition? I guess removing yourself from competition altogether is one way of not having anything else compete against you.

So yeah, Anet better step up their game and fix their crap because they do have competition with BDO and BNS for people that care more about pvp than pve.

Black Desert Online is so far removed from the qualities that make Guild Wars 2 great, I have no idea how anyone can maintain a lasting connection with that game. I went all in on that game. I bought the $100 pack for the four-days early access, grinded to 50 in literally a day, and then realized there’s absolutely nothing to do in that game aside from just mindlessly trashing mobs in circles.

It has a shallower end-game than Guild Wars 2 had in 2012, and the fact that you have to constantly grind to stay competitive makes it literally the antithesis to Guild Wars 2. There is very little skill involved in winning fights in BDO, and when it’s impossible to setup your combos because you’re trying to grapple someone with over 100 ping, you can’t help but admit the entire combat system is all flash but no substance. More importantly, many professions have too many mobility skills, and they just run away when they start losing a fight. If I could compare it best, it’s as if everyone was a thief or gs+s/wh warrior and just resets the second a fight goes south.

I’d rather play 3 more years of ArcheAge mageball kitten than put myself through that. BDO is a terrible game on so many levels; it’s bad enough that the only time that you can actually participate in castle sieges is on Saturday nights, so you have to choose between having a social life or forgoing experiencing the bulk of that game’s endgame.

I guess everyone has different tastes. But you really havent experienced endgame at 50, the game doesn’t actually begin till you hit 60 and have all TET gear. PvP is the endgame in BDO, the pve is just there as something to get you to 60 so you can pvp. I personally like it that way since i don’t enjoy pve at all. BDO is everything I like about GW2 with all the crap I dislike about it removed. PVE in BDO is basically just a meaningless minigame that you do until you can participate in pvp.

Node wars, GvG, and dueling arenas are the endgame. And once your gear is equal and both people are 60, its purely skill based as far as duels go. There are no cheese carry builds like there are in gw2 with craploads of passive traits and spammy conditions that take no skill to land on someone like in gw2. I like the fact that there are no dungeons or raids. Dungeons and raids, and the crying pvers are what ruined pvp and wvw balance in gw2.

Population will change when new expansion will be out.

For example if after new expansion I WON’T BE FORCED to play healbot to compete in ranked gold+ I am coming back to play pvp ele.

Till then i stay in BDO…game where wizards are not healbots….and can make people explode.

You arent the only one. There’s actually quite a few people from GW2 that have migrated over to BDO. I think thats where the majority of former wvw guilds ended up since i recognize alot of guild names that used to run around in gw2 back in the day in BDO now. Who would have thought that people who like pvp would actually want to play a game that focuses on pvp? /sarcasm.

I havent even logged into gw2 for several months. I just check the forums occasionally now to see if they’ve unscrewed up things. I doubt they’ll ever actually listen to the pvpers. They ignorantly think they can have esports while balancing classes around pve raids and still refuse to separate balance between the 3 modes. By the time they stop being stupid and admit they were wrong, and finally do separate balance, this game will be long dead.

As far as small arena fights goes, BNS has that with 1v1, 3v3, and 6v6. and GASP! they have separate balance from pve in the arena! And as far as large scale wvw sort of combat goes, BDO has that covered and what a shock! Skills are separated to work differently on players that they do on mobs! Who would have thought that having skills separated from pve would make a pvp mode in a game successful? Its not like we haven’t been asking anet to do that for the past 5 years.

I don’t get how Anet still doesn’t understand this when we’ve been saying the same thing for years. WvW players DO NOT ENJOY PVE! Crafting is PvE. WvW should be an entirely self contained game mode that requires zero interaction with anything pve related. Everything in wvw should be obtainable purely by playing wvw only. They finally give us an ascended vendor and oh look, we STILL need to do pve to get it. It might as well not even be there and be in some pve map for all the good that does. Put the fracking marks in the reward chests or just remove them altogether.

The pvp armor used to be obtainable without crafting at all, as it should be. Then pvers cried that they had to craft their armor and it wasnt fair, so they put the marks in and forced everyone to have to craft now. We can never have anything nice without pvers crying that it isnt fair to them or that they want it too, but want it easier. Then inevitably, we end up being forced into playing a game mode we hate because of them. Then they wonder why we have such animosity towards them when they come into wvw. Stop F-ing it up for us then maybe we wont hate you so much!

Now that they seem to be done with there rule of finniser / fields on the same atument they need to look into making an earth field for ele class and maybe ele only. Bleed projectile, crippler wherle, protection blast, and root leap.

Isn’t an earth field basically just a field? And honestly that sounds a bit like ranger territory to me. Could be both though.

Hehe funny you could say water fields are just wet field etc.. fields are magic aimed so there no field with out the effect. I could see ranger getting an earth field too it fits there nacher magic like effect. There no combo finniser for bleed cripal roots or protection so there room for an earth field.

Lets not give them ways to add more brainless condi spam into wvw. Protection or maybe resist is what is needed from an earth field, no more condi. Power builds are pretty much useless enough already at this point especially on ele. I miss when meteor used to actually be a threat, It needs to do like 4X the damage it does now to be on par with a necro’s aoe condi spam.

And anyone that think’s that would be op is a complete idiot. Necro can press 2 buttons and instakill half a zerg in 2 condi ticks. So meteors hitting for like 10-15k each would be perfectly fine if they consider necro’s burst balanced. And meteor can be easily avoided as well, you can literally sidestep them, no need to even dodge.

Whether you agree with it or not, the fact of the matter is dire deals entirely too much damage for how tanky it is. It was at one point available in spvp for all of 2 days before it was removed because it was too overpowered. Yet they thought it was a good idea to release the stat to the rest of the game anyway. And fights should be fun for BOTH parties involved. Condi builds are only fun for those playing them. The majority find condi builds frustrating and annoying to fight against. When its only fun for the person playing it, that’s bad game design. And something that is easy to play shouldn’t be powerful, that’s unbalanced. And playing a condi build with max toughness and vitality is significantly easier than playing a zerker that will die if they miss one dodge. And they absolutely do deal the same amount of damage if not more than someone in zerk gear.

So more people should play condi? That’s your solution? The reason people complain is because its not fun to play such low risk, high reward things. But when the most effective thing is something that takes so little effort, that’s what people flock to. That’s the issue most people have with condi now. It’s not fun to fight against some noob in tank gear who’s keyboard turning and putting in such little effort, while you have to put in so much more effort to try and kill them.

The risk/reward is way off. No one is saying that we can’t kill them. Its that the amount of effort it takes us to kill them compared to the minimal effort they have to put in is ridiculous and totally off balance. I’ve tried condi builds to learn how to counter them, i cant stand that playstyle. It’s far too easy compared to playing a power build. If dire did the same damage as soldier, it wouldnt be an issue. But dire has the same damage output as zerker, thats where the problem is. Dire should be the equivalent of soldier. But right now a power equivalent to dire would be power as a major stat with toughness, precision, vitality, and ferocity as minor stats. Basically just add soldier level toughness and vitality onto current zerker stats and then you have the power equivalent of dire.

Yeah I figured that’s what he meant. It hasnt been able to crit for years. Aside from that, steal hasnt been changed at all, yet hes acting as if it was ninja nerfed somehow.

I don’t think we’ve actually ever fought eachother. I know we’ve talked alot in the past about different ele builds and stuff like that. But I don’t think we’ve ever dueled eachother. Unless we’ve run into eachother at some point and just never realized it, I’m pretty sure we’ve been matched up against eachother several times already. I’m one of the few roamers left on YB so i’m pretty easy to find most of the time as pretty much everyone else on my server is usually in a blob.

Wish I could fight either of you. My current matchup sucks and there really is no one at all to fight. stuck fighting BG and TC. The smallest groups they have are 7+ so its hard to get any fights at all. And ele vs ele fights are always fun, and so rare to happen nowadays.

Hopefully they’ll buff the rest of the arcane skills. They’ve been slowly updating them bit by bit. They reduced the cooldown of the shield, even though its still too long IMO. They changed arcane power before to a group buff. Now they’ve reduced the cooldown a bit on the heal. These pvp only updates annoy me though. Theres alot of pvp only changes for all classes that really needed to be carried over into wvw.

If you die and have to respawn, good, you deserve to be punished for being bad and dying in the first place, don’t die.

The bit about not dying or being afraid for their pixels getting hurt is one of the major complaints about pug pve’rs- as soon as there might be a fight of even numbers you can see them running backwards away from the fight practically before it has even begun, guaranteeing you will lose the fight.

If only they could devise a mechanism to impart negative rewards to those that don’t die because they ran away rather than face the enemy. Call it a ‘cowardice debuff’.:-)

The only problem with that would be it would screw over roamers even further. And we’ve been screwed more than Paris Hilton already after all the condi buff that have made small scale stuff unpleasant to say the least. Roamers that like to poke at zergs and snipe people, then retreat with a whole blob chasing 1 guy across the map, allowing your zerg to cap their stuff while they waste time chasing you instead of responding. I love doing that to people. A debuff for retreating from blobs would just be the final nail in the coffin for roaming.

Yeah, that could be a problem. Perhaps then just make it so idling in spawn would drop you to zero after a few minutes and put a debuff on you where you cant gain participation at all for like half an hour. That would stop the people that just like to kill a guard then afk, and wouldnt punish anyone that had to port back for whatever reason.

I left gw2 for a while after feeling burned out from the “grind.” Started playing BDO instead. I can now say I’m back in gw2 and happy for it. If nothing else, in GW2, after “grinding” towards a goal, atleast there isn’t an RNG roll at the end that could forfeit all the time you spent grinding.

I know the feels bro. Having my kzarka fail every single time i tried to upgrade it despite having way more than the required stacks it should be succeeding at. Spending more money failing upgrades than it would have cost to just buy a fully upgraded one. People that think gw2 has ANY grind at all, oh they have no idea.

Reveal never really bothers me much. I don’t think most thieves care about stealth that much anymore. You have enough evades and mobility to survive. Thief still seems pretty strong to me, the only thing i really have problems killing sometimes, oddly enough are rangers. The good ones anyway that don’t have trash pve builds and know how to use their class. Neither thief nor ranger are useless in wvw, but many players playing them that think they’re actually good at it are. If you think they’re weak, you just have a bad build or are just bad at the class.

And as others have pointed out, any commander that doesn’t realize the value of a good thief or ranger is a bad commander that you shouldn’t be following or listening to anyway. Good commanders see the value in all classes and all roles. If you’re being excluded, either the commander is bad, or you’re bad. You need to find out which that is.

Lower the Rank Requirement for Armor

If you’re only getting 1 per hour, you’re doing something wrong. And that problem lies with you. If i’m able to get more just from ganking people and sometimes intentionally not capping stuff just to lure more people in to fight me, I have no idea what you’re doing wrong to get so little. I still think that if they actually cave to the pvers demands and make it easier, than they should make it easier for wvw players to get access to legendary armor.

For a pvers perspective, it doesnt seem unreasonable to do all that crap. But for a wvw player it is completely ridiculous. I suppose its a matter of perspective. This seems like an unreasonable grind for a pve player, but is entirely too easy for a dedicated wvw player. If they make one easier, they should make both easier. Its only fair IMO. Especially considering the fact that swappable stats would be most useful in wvw where you have to change builds constantly and most of us already carry 3+armor sets per class for different things. I don’t see why you would even need swappable stats in pve when you just use the same meta build for raids and never change it. and open world pve you can just use whatever you want and it works.

This isn’t about easy or hard though, its about time spent. Personally I think all of gw2 is easy. The time spent to get wvw rank 2k is far more egregious time wise then any other reward in game, except for pinnacle weapons from 30k achievement points. Achievement points which are also game wide as opposed to game mode specific.

If you transitioned from wvw to pve, you would realize that ALL rewards associated with it can be obtained far quicker then rank 2000 in wvw. (same goes for spvp as well).

Again, its a matter of perspective. For someone like me that despises pve in this game, the time it would take for any pve rewards is ridiculous. It would probably take me a few years to get legendary armor forcing myself to do all that pve grind. For someone that enjoys wvw, this is nothing though. It may seem alot to a pver that doesnt like being in wvw though. Even if it was 4k+ rank, i could probably get it in a few months grinding from where i am now. If you really grind for it, you could get 3 or more ranks per hour. I still dont feel at all that its the least bit unreasonable from a wvw players perspective. Like im sure there are pvers that feel the legendary armor requirements are reasonable. I don’t, I think all that pve grind is completely ridiculous and should be lowered or atleast made more accessible to wvw players through reward tracks. Again, if they lower wvw requirements to make it easier for pve players, they should lower the requirements for pve rewards to make it easier for wvw players. fair is fair.

If they aren’t going to change that, then they shouldn’t touch the wvw rewards. If i have to put in such a long boring grind for pve stuff, pvers should have to put in an equally long annoying grind for wvw stuff. I would of course prefer they made it so that all players could do what they enjoy and get the rewards they want and not have to suffer through stuff they dont like to get something they want.

That would make sense though and Anet sure as hell wont do that. I mean, I would totally be in favor of pvers being able to get this by playing in pve only, IF they also made it possible for wvw players to get legendary armor only by playing wvw. Remember when anet used to be a company about “play the way you want. You shouldn’t have to wait around to have fun. You should be able to play content you enjoy and be rewarded for it. The game shouldnt feel like a job”? Yeah well its not like that anymore. PvE is basically the boring job for me i have to suffer through until i get to go play the mode I enjoy.

Atleast with reward tracks I dont have to spend as much time in pve to be able to afford stuff for wvw now. Its unfair for both types of players at this point. I’m sure the pvers dont want to be in wvw anymore than i want to be in pve. But at this point its just a matter of “I have to suffer for what I want, so you should too”. Anet has changed alot from the company they used to be and the community has changed too as a result.

What? Why? They should increase it to 1 year. These server hopping bandwagoners that just want to win have been ruining the game for years. They should be punished for it.

I agree the bandwaggoning sucks, but if they increase it to 1 year, then nobody will ever leave the top servers. Going down tiers and not receiving rewards for a year? Yeah….no incentive to leave whatsoever. You are in fact punishing the people who do consider leaving at that point. It works both ways.

So how about no penalty if you go down? You only get the 1 year penalty if you go up. That will force people to move down and not all crowd onto BG.
