I’m all for new hairstlyes. There arent enough long hairstyles as far as i’m concerned. I want long butt-length hair, and more hairstlyes that cover one eye. I don’t care how impractical it is when we’re fighting to have hair like that.
I’m in a similar situation on my server so i can sympathize. We always are outmanned 10 to 1 even on peak hours. I doubt they will merge servers though. Alot of people just don’t do WvW and are mainly PvE servers. The outmanned buff is one way of fixing this. I suggested this already. Give us a bonus to actual useful stats rather than a crappy magic find and exp boost that doesnt do anythign to help us when we’re outmanned anyway. A bonus to all stats that scales depending on how badly you’re outmaned would be nice. When i’m trying to defend a tower we managed to take by some miracle with a grand total of 7 other people on the entire map against a zerg of 60+, a 500% boost to all stats would be a nice way of evening the odds.
I have all the WvW maps completed, and I’d be ok with this. Alot of times a majority of the people there are just interested in doing exploration and not helping at all during times when we need every person on the map at a certain location. i’d rather not have them in there and just have people around who are actually interested in fighting.
My suggestion is mainly for a simple change to the “outmanned” buff. Yeah an extra mf and no repair costs is all well and good, but it does squat to help when you’re outnumbered. I’m on a server that’s currently facing 2 zerg servers. We are ALWAYS outmanned. I can’t recall the last time i didn’t see the outmanned buff. Seeing it actually irritates me now. As if the giant sea of red coming towards our groups of 20-30ish people (this is during peak hours when everyone who does PvP on our server is on) wasn’t enough of an indication. The majority of the time, we’re lucky to have 10-20 people on and just run around sneakily killing yaks or capture the stuff they allow us to take when they are bored just so they have something to take back from us. Had server transfers costed actual money from the start like it should have, this would have stopped people from hopping to more populated pvp servers just so they could dominate with sheer numbers. But that’s too late to fix now. What I propose is an actual balancing mechanism to fix this. In alot of games, when you are that greatly outnumbered, you get some sort of stat boost. Magic find does nothing to help us stand a chance against ridiculous odds. Atleast +500 to all stats would make it more balanced. If we’re going to be outnumbered 10 to 1, atleast give us as much power as 10 of them so we stand a fighting chance.
I would much rather have a pistol and shoot a variety of different magical bullets. We don’t have anything that shoots out long range beams. Of course they could always scrap the fiery greatsword elite, give it to us as a weapon, and give us the beam pistol as an elite that doesnt suck.

If you’re going to make our one mobility skill require a target, then ALL mobility skills of all classes should require targets. And while youre at it, buff our healing, defense and hp. Cuz without being able to disengage, we will die just sitting in the middle of a fight unlike other classes that can take a few hits. Also remove all stealths so then thieves and mesmers cant disengage from battle since you’re too unskilled to catch an opponent who’s escaping. So lets make it easy for you. Because I personally have no problem catching an killing a bunker ele no matter what class i’m playing as. It’s easiest on warrior. I’d even go so far as saying warrior has better mobility than ele. If you need further proof that RTL doesnt need to be touched, just look at staff ele. Even if they go bunker spec, everyone still considers them a free kill because of their crappy mobility. They will not get away from you, EVER. Unless you’re a terribly incompetent player. And they drop easily.

I’m currently using the 0/10/0/30/30 build in full exotic knight’s gear and working my way towards the accessories you’re using. I mostly do PvE but also do WvW from time to time. The current build easily destroys most PvE stuff but i do have some difficulty with confusion mesmers when i’m in WvW. I’m really tempted to try the 0/0/20/20/30 build. My question is, do you notice a significant drop in your dps without the 25 water trait? And does this build work as well in PvE as the 0/10/0/30/30 one? I’ll kind of miss the aura sharing and swiftness, (not as much as my teammates will though) but if it means being able to last longer when i’m alone it seems worth it.
Simple way they can fix it. reduce all cooldowns, decrease caasting time, remove blasting staff and make the increased range standard range for all the staff’s AoE abilities. Replace blasting staff with some sort of evasive arcana thing thats as powerful as it was in beta, but only works with staff equipped. Staff won’t suck anymore, and it won’t affect non staff builds in any way.
I only found it useful once. In wvw there was a group of people trying to sneak up on one of the narrow cliffs near our overlook. I had a thief stealth me so they wouldnt notice me at first and all focus on me, I dropped down into the middle of them, hit tornado, blew them all off the cliff killing them all. Wish I had recorded it. The one and only time tornado has been useful.
The elementals in general need to be completely reworked. It would be nice if another bar popped up when you summoned it and you could click on the abilities it has so you decide when it does them rather than the rare occasions it decides to do them. They would of course have some sort of cooldown so they wouldnt be too OP like jsut summon water elemental and spam heal and never die. That change alone would make them alot better, not even factoring in the desperate buff they need to their overall stats and survivability.
So you want to make our one useful elite suck as much as the other 2? As it is now, most racial elites are better than our actual profession elites. And if i’m not mistaken they wanted profession elites to be better than racial ones so that race wouldnt be a factor when deciding what class you wanted to play as. That isnt how it is though with ele since most of our profession elites suck horribly. And you want to take away our 1 semi-decent skill? What have you been smoking?
I was thinking of doing the same thing at first. It seemed like a good idea since ele benefits from everything, but I decided against it now. all your stats will get a boost, but your atk and def are kinda low. I decided to settle for just celestial amulet since it would give the highest amout of stats to everything, and either 2 celestial rings and cavalier accesories, 1 cavalier ring and accessory and 1 celestial ring and accessory. Much higher atk and def compared to full celestial with only very minor decreases to other stuff that wouldnt make much difference anyway. I also tried several combinations of ascended berserker, knights, clerics, and valk accesories. The celestial + cavalier seems to be the best combination overall for what i’m going for. But I have no idea what you want out of accesories, so that might not be the most optimal for you. I’d suggest playing around with that build calculator thing awhile and try different combinations. See how decent your stats are without buffs and foods. I like my stats to be good all around without having to depend on food to make up for deficiencies in other stats i neglect by focusing too much on one thing. and i usually forget to eat food most of the time anyway and i dont want to cripple myself and be too dependant on consumables.
It’s because of that stupid spider. That’s why no one wants to do it anymore. they made that thing ridiculous. sprays poison everywhere that lingers on the ground for like 10 minutes. its a pain to fight now. They either need to nerf the spider or make it the last boss since that thing is the hardest thing in the dungeon now. Most groups im with bail once we get to the spider and they die a few times. And i’m getting sick of running it and soloing that blasted thing after everyone else drops and complain the whole time i’m fighting it. “just die so the rest of us can res! You’re taking too long to kill it!” Atleast I didnt die like the rest of you, sheesh. And when i say that they usually leave.
Remove our only means of escape, which is very easy to turn against us if you aren’t a terribad player and know what you’re doing, and you would have to buff our health, healing power and armor significantly so we can actually survive for more than 2 seconds when we no longer have escape as an option. you can’t take away something without adding something to compensate for it. That isn’t balancing it’s called screwing up the class. I’m thinking OP is a thief player who’s just here trolling. They ALWAYS want every other class nerfed so they can 1 shot kill everyone while hiding in the shadows like cowards.
I’d be very happy if they made a Legendary dagger that changed what it was depending on what attunement we were in. A long flickering flame in fire, bolt of lightning in air, shard of ice in water, and a jagged piece of rock in earth. That i would actually go for. The incinerator is cool, but doesn’t really fit with ele. I’m currently using the Ghastly daggers from AC. I know, those don’t really fit either, but I just love how they look when they glow at night.
Awesome fights, I always love vids of eles owning groups of people. Mind telling what armor and trinkets you’re using? It only shows your stats and what traits you picked in the link on the vid. I have slightly more power and armor with my ele, but you have alot more healing and and higher crit chance and damage. i’ve been considering using clerics and some berserkers gear, but debating whether or not it’s worth it.
My only gripe is with the ascended gear. I’ve personally had a blast leveling different characters. It’s been fun trying different race/class combinations and leveling them up. I just wish the ascended gear was account bound and not character bound in case i happen to be in the mood to do fractals with a different character, then i have to grind for more ascended gear and wait years to get enough laurels for them to have acsended gear in each slot rather than just letting them borrow gear from my main when i feel like using a different character.
I’ve played as every single profession so far and leveled most of them to 80, and yeah I feel like ele is the weakest of all DPS-wise. Despite that, it’s still my favorite out of all my characters. What we need is a massive boost to our overall dps then maybe we’ll see different builds besides the cookie cutter bunker build we’re pretty much forced to play as just to actully be effective. Even if you go full glass cannon, which makes our already low survivabilty even worse, you still only deal a fraction of what other professions are capable of doing if they go full glass. In most games mage-type classes are usually the nukers of the game who out dps every other class combined but are as frail as wet tissue paper. Well, we’re as frail as wet tissue here, but also have some of the lowest DPS as well. That just doesn’t seem right to me. I should be able to go full glass and see meteors hit for 20k just like a full glass warrior can hit for that much with 100b.
You can change the stats on it by transmuting. I believe someone already posted somewhere on here that its no longer bugged and won’t read as an Exotic weapon and will still keep the Legendary tag on it if you transmute it and will keep all its special effects and everything. So just find a bow with the stats you want and use a transmutation stone. It used to be bugged for Legendaries if you transmuted and while it would keep the name of it and effect, it would have an orange name and be downgraded to an exotic. They fixed it though and it will keep the Legendary tag now, so you don’t have to worry about losing that if you change the stats.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I really miss how they were before when they were unkillable. Yeah i know, not really balanced considering summons of other professions are killable. But it was still fun while it lasted.

I’m fine with that as well. Atleast i’d have a use for all the badges that keep piling up. I’ve been saving them hoping there will be another use for them at some point in the future. right now i just currently use them to buy siege equipment instead of spending money on it, but by the end of the day I usually break even or earn back more than what I spent.
What they should have done was make guild missions available for everyone right from the start and not have to spend a ridiculous amount of points to unlock them. Introduce new content, make it so it’s only available to people in large guilds. It’s basically a giant middle finger to people who just want to stay in small guilds with just their friends. You’re kind of forced to join a bigger guild if you want to do the guild missions. It will take most of the smaller guilds years just to unlock the missions.
I’d be fine with this if we could trade regular badges in for ascended crap, but only for a very high amount. I’m sitting on nearly 3k badges and don’t know what to do with them. What can I say? I like killing people.
that is because Laurels were not meant to be the primary way to gain ascended gear, but if you so wished to do it that way it would take you a while. They want people to still run fractals as a main source of gaining ascended items.

Totally agree with you on this. I’m indecisive about which ones i want to get and the current system sucks. At the very least i’d like them to change them to being only account bound like how the karka shell accessory is so if i decide to change my spec later on it can atleast be used on another character, then my time won’t have been a complete waste.
I’ll just cut to the chase. There are some things that I absolutely hate doing and shouldn’t be forced to miss out on 10 laurels because of it. I hate crafting with a passion. I’ve never liked it in any MMO i’ve ever played. Don’t care how easy it is, I hate it. I find it boring. I usually pay someone else to do it for me if i want something crafted because i can’t stand it. I’d gladly pay someone 10 gold to do it for me now if it would count for my monthly. I’m sure i’m not the only way who feels this way and there are certain things we just don’t want to do in the game. Some people hate dungeons, some hate pvp. Bottom line is, we shouldn’t be missing out on completing our monthly because of it. So please let us pick from a list the activities we want to do for our monthly the same way we can for our daily.
I had to turn auto targeting off just for playing DD ele. I also just bound a key for nearest enemy and found it much easier. When i had it on i often found myself running into something i didnt want to. If youre surrounded and need a quick getaway, slamming into someone or something randomly or not going the direction you want can get you killed. You’re better off just binding a key to nearest enemy, and you alredy have tab for next enemy, it just takes some getting used to. before i got used to auto target being off I rtl right off a cliff a few times while fighting. I bound it to C, i can just hit it with my thumb easily and not have to move my fingers off WASD. Also bound about face to the X key so after i jet away from them i can quickly turn around and run back into them and attack if i have to.
See, that’s precisely why i’m so indecisive. Half of you say it’s great, half of you say it isn’t. And we all know what’s written and how things actually work in game can differ greatly. Which is why I wasted lots of gold experimenting with different builds in game rather than jsut rely on the build calculator thing. They really need to add in exotic celestial gear for each slot so i can play with those too. You can only have 1 karka shell equipped, found that out the hard way.
I mostly do dungeons and wvw, i run around solo in wvw most of the time. i like fighting multiple people at once then dancing on their bodies when i kill them all because they underestimated me. Its also fun taking fully upgraded supply camps solo. Berserker/cavalier accessories + knights/clerics armor and soldier daggers are what i’m currently using and seems to work fine for both situations. That’s why i considered jsut getting ascended versions of what i already have. The Celestial gear is just so tempting. I could get both i suppose right? I only recently started doing fractals so i suppose i could get some of the ascended gear there and just keep 2 sets with me. I have a really good group that i usually run dungeons with, i doubt they’d mind running it repeatedly with me to get multiple sets of gear. We’ve already run regular dungeons more times than i can count. 1 of us actually has 10 greatswords from AC just because they like using different sigils and don’t wanna waste money switching them all the time but wanted the same sword. Yeah, we’re all a bit indecisive.

Well i played around with some gear a little bit more wasting 60-70 gold doing so. oh well i have ecto now atleast from what i don’t keep. Anyway, as much as i hate to admit it due to how much i disliked the celestial gear, it does seem to be the best. i tried around several different stat combinations of equipment with berserkers, cavaliers, valkyrie, knight, soldier. i found that by focusing too much on certain stats i lose out on some important ones and am forced to take certain stats in my armor and weapons to make up for what i’m lacking in accesories and other stats seem to suffer as a result. The celetial gear gives me more flexibility with my armor and weapon choices and i can swap out different pieces of armor and weapons(because i like to keep a few in my bags depending on the situation) with different stats depending on what i need at that particular moment, be it more tankiness, or damage, or healing and my stats as a whole dont suffer. for example if I need more defense i can swap out my berserker daggers for soldier ones and my damage wont suffer much, and i end up with around 18k hp instead of the measly amount i had before. and if i use the berserker daggers i’ll still have over 15k hp and more damage, and my defense wont suffer alot. With trying to find a balance between healing power, crit damage, crit chance, vit, power and toughness,…things just didnt work out so well in the end for what i was going for. Oh well live and learn.

I guess i can just play around with different combinations of exotics for now though and see what i like best before getting ascended things. still a long way off from getting them anyway. I wish they were just account bound like the karka shell and didn’t soulbind when you equipped them. then i could atleast use them on another character if i end up picking the wrong ones.
I’m haveing a hard time choosing which ascended gear to pick and don’t want to pick the wrong ones and find out i’ve wasted all that time and effort when i could have had somethign better. So I was wondering, which are the best kind for elementalists? I’ve seen alot of people saying the celestial stuff is best, but they don’t look too great to me having a little bit of everything and being jack of all trades and master of none.

I notice with the celestial stuff, some of the stats are higher, but my power and toughness take a pretty big drop. and despite my power being higher in the first one, it shows my effective power higher with all celestial gear. What’s up with that? So i’m having a really hard time deciding which of these 2 to go with, any help would be appreciated.
