Yeah, going off what the other person said. They purposely borked up our traitline early on and it’s beginning to show at this stage in the game. Also we are just too susceptible to blind and guess what class gives that to us in spades. We’ve been hunted out of the meta by a class we used to beat down terribly. It is rather tragic.
We’ll just have to see if the specialization can save us. If not, that is GG
I just wanted to drop by and say that Ive been playing for two years and the default bank space is pretty poor. Maybe if you’re in the crowd where you barely have enough money to pay for a waypoint it’s fine. But for others that actually have assets it is a nightmare. I have 5 tabs and 2 personal guild banks to help manage the insanity
It’s only gotten worse too. We keep being given more account bound tonics and the like that if we destroy then they are gone forever. Ascended rings that we can do nothing with but hold onto or vendor for a sad 4 silver. It’s disgustingly bad. How can anyone deny this?
(edited by Nova.8021)
Yeah, why can’t we use the individual pieces? What a waste. Maybe it’s more effort to make the pieces separate but ultimately they make more money in the end.
Still hoping for selectable minor traits and a UI that doesn’t look hideous. Make it happen Colin! I will put a poster of you in my room if you do.
Just remember that pros don’t talk kitten. Ping a packet of salt and move on. They aren’t worth your time if they can’t comprehend a scenario where it was physically impossible for you to stomp.
I’m glad this is finally happening. I made a post when the game came out on how boring and uninspired the current system looked. Also annoyed that we can’t pick out minor traits although I doubt that will change for reasons.
Maybe this time they can recreate it in an aesthetically pleasing and more interesting way.
I’ve noticed this as well. I’m rank 40 and my first game today was in courtyard and I swear to god there was 3 other people on the team that acted like they don’t know what dimension they stumbled into. We got rolled. Then I partied with friends and won like 3 or 4 straight before calling it a night.
It just seems like all the games I lose lately are because I could not control the make-up of my team so I cannot control the flow of experienced players. Then you hope that the other team suffers from that problem and it basically hands you a win.

Forgotten seal indeed. Well played Anet.
You what. The combat system is probably the core element that held the game together through all else.
This is a side effect of the lack of trinity. Nothing less than that. If every player has the power to survive on their own without the need for another player’s help, then they should logically be as powerful damage wise as possible to save everyone else their valuable time.
This is just common sense in action.
This is terrible. Even if it’s the start of a system it should be a bit more in depth than this. They could have at least offered the most demanded weapon sets. My mesmer doesn’t want a shield. He wants to recognized as a phantasm mesmer. No one picks ranger wanting to use a staff. They’d rather have a gun.
I always hated the reasoning why Logan was hated. Rytlock was essentially kittened off that Logan chose Hos over Bros and he threatened to kill him over it. How messed up is that? Like no one has done what Logan did before.
Ugg, Druids. I like the idea of every other weapon choose except this one. Who wants to play some walking chanting robed bearded anachronism?
The best part is they don’t even get robes. Unless Anet does something to change that
He said that Druid will fundamentally change the way Ranger is played. I’m guessing there will only be one per class, as they seem to be major playstyle and theme variants, not simple trait specs. Furthermore, I’m guessing that these Specializations are Guild Wars 2’s replacement for new campaign professions. In other words, instead of getting Assassin when we go to Cantha, Thief would get an Assassin Specialization. When we go to Elona, Paragon would be a Guardian Specialization. I think we’re only getting one right now, because they’re going to be the Maguuma Jungle themed variants. He made a big deal about the location being why Ranger gets Druid.
Well if that’s true and there’s only one specialization then what if the ranger doesn’t want it? Will he be forced into being Druid against his will? That seems off to me.
Can I just drop the guess that the other weapon for Ranger is rifle? I mean come on. They accidentally stuck a rifle in the ranger equipment box too for a time if that’s any indication.
Also mesmer better get main hand pistol or I’m going to be sad.
Class Specialization: Allowing new class mechanics and weapons to be used
Does this mean phantasm mesmer will finally be recognized by the F1-F4 skills? What else could this mean?
I have hope for the future but I’m not sure if I’m reading too much into this.
(edited by Nova.8021)
Well I think the biggest problem is that all 3 of those options you listed John sound good to me. So it’s probably impossible for me to objectively say which would definitively feel better. It might sound like a crazy waste of resources but the definitive way would be undoubtedly to try all 3 of the mentioned systems and find a way to poll the player-base in game after all 3 have been tested. Or maybe the best two.
P.S. I’d argue that this is the place to talk about precursors though. They are the epitome of bad RNG and bad RNG is like a plague on video games in general, not just MMOs.
It’s always during the phrase where the shadow dragon grabs some rocks to throw them. There will be a single huge gap in between circles almost big enough to fit a circle in if not big enough to do so and I’ve had this happen at least 3 times where a huge rock will come crashing down in the middle of this gap. It’s almost obvious because the empty space disrupts the pattern of circles. There is a missing AoE circle somewhere in there and I’ve witnessed this and witnessed it happen to two other people.
Now I got my achievement for rock dodger and I don’t mind that it takes some luck but when stuff is un-telegraphed like that it just feels very frustrating that even the game mechanics are against you.

Silly Anet. You weren’t supposed to reveal E yet.
I just saw the other day that someone made the real quaggan hats in the orca and standard versions and I want to know why these people haven’t been hired.
There are not even quaggan plushies or T shirts in the store.
Don’t you guys want our money?
Since this thread got necro’d and I haven’t seen it before I’d like to drop my whine in this as well. As someone who mains a phantasm mesmer, the conditions were absolutely obnoxious especially the blinds and the aoe was getting out of hand for many of the episodes.
Unless you have played through all the episodes on mesmer then people shouldn’t pretend like they have insight on this, because they don’t. It was 10 times easier on my thief and that is saying something.
I feel as good as LS 2 has been it still has the problem of the main story in that it lacks the ability to flesh out the Elder dragon. If the dragons had the ability to speak then I feel it would go a long way to giving them some depth. I’d even go one step further and say they should be able to create their own humanoid forms but I don’t think the lore supports it.
It’s just the dragons are simply not interesting. Let’s be honest, some people didn’t like Scarlet but at least she had a personality. The only interesting thing about the dragons is what they can manipulate. They don’t even need to be dragons to do that, it could be literally anything with that power and it would still be just as captivating. I’m saying I don’t think the dragon concept is being taken advantage of. It’s wasted potential IMO
The writing of LS 2 has been loads better than the writing in both the main story and the original LS, but it still suffers from the main story’s inability to properly flesh out the dragon as a living entity. If characters didn’t tell us it existed we literally never would have known. That is not the best way to show the existence of a villain, but I digress.
Any thoughts?
Yes to this. They made too many things account bound for no reason. The recipes should be but the results should not. “Other” MMOs knew better than to do this.
Yeah, the reason venoms are so bad is because Anet balanced it around the trait and not the skill which is something they said they don’t want to do, but allowed this to happen regardless because logic failed at that specific time I guess. I was hoping to see a change to them this balance patch but oh well.
Isn’t thief about tactfully picking your battles and securing easier kills? If something about that leads you to fight a turret engy on point, then you are doing it wrong. I’ve played both sides of the coin and I can tell you that even if you think it’s worth going after a bunker turret engy; it’s not.
You should see the match roster at the start of the game and cross engy off the list of targets if you even think he may be running full bunker + turrets.
Yeah, I hope we get to see the kitten thing. That alone would be a step up from Zhaitan.
I feel as though most of the team has went home by now unless they’re paying overtime. So we can probably expect this tomorrow.
Honestly, if people are calling you noob, then that is the excuse to just ignore virtually everything they say. Any half-decent leader knows not to insult their team-mates if they want to get results.
The people who do otherwise 90 percent of the time have no idea what they’re talking about. From what I’ve seen anyway. Probably just teenagers that can’t control their hormones.
Real serious question here. Well, not that serious, and not even really a question. A discussion rather.
Do you think all of the cactus products being bound to the character/account is a good idea? And or do you think there will be a change to this in the future?
My personal stance is that it eliminates convenience for other players and it is limiting of what chefs can do with their freedom to craft. I crafted the roasted cactus steaks and was rather annoyed that I could not share this with my friends. That seems wrong in the spirit of MMOs. This is also a problem for Amberite right now.
Was Anet right to do this?
I think the sword should just be permanently sheathed even when drawn tbh.
I can appreciate the desire to beat someone with a blunt sword.
That’d be a better option than just having it disappear IMO
Edit: Maybe they can have a check-box feature like with armor?
(edited by Nova.8021)
It vanishes when the weapon is drawn. Is there no way around this? I hope that’s not the final product because it would be a disappointment if that was the case. Might as well not even design a sheath if the gw2 engine can’t be modified around it.
Anet, pls
Yeah, I don’t know who is charge over there at Anet, but they haven’t learn anything from player rewarding from the past or even from other MMOs as much as we would like to believe otherwise. There are F2P games out there right now with better models and that is painful to see.
Rewards from Crown Pavilion being stripped is disgusting. No matter the reasoning behind it, it won’t be good enough to justify the means. Even the argument of deflation is out the window. The only people that get deflated are the people who aren’t tight with their money, guess who that is? Not the rich people. And the middle-class/poor players on this game are already being squeezed to death. Very sad to see, even as someone with a few k in gold.
Well, jokes on you I suppose. They didn’t want farmers feeling like that either.
This was not even a month ago.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Why-is-there-STILL-no-dueling/first
Yeah, I just hope they plan to release these feature builds a lot more and LS a bit less. That would honestly keep me playing. I mean there are still so many things they could add, and if they ever run out of ideas they could just ask us.
It’s a quality of life feature, why are many opposed to improving the quality of life of players who are bored waiting for something like a world boss and are hanging out with friends?
In my experience, purposely limiting players is never the option. Don’t know why people think it is. We have seen in practice in this very game that it can be toxic.
Just my two cents, but I wouldn’t go near the quaggan market for a very long time. There was way more taken by investors than the consumers can actually use or want to use. That much I can guarantee.
It’s a QoL feature that should be on the same list as other quality of life features, but higher up than fishing or sitting in chairs. Although all of those things need to make it into the game eventually as we’re still missing a lot of the little things I feel.
But dueling is just a part of MMO culture at this point to the degree of the dungeon finder. Just not as practical, but it promotes more social interactions so I don’t see why not.
Yeah, my only problem with this patch is as others have said, bunkers become even more powerful to all builds with critical damage in them. Pvp will be a nightmare against bunkers, absolute and truly a bad move to let it spill into pvp like that. PvE is fine.
Well done Alla, I mean, random stranger!
But yes, I think we’ll have this in the future in some way or another.
As someone who has mained a phantasm mesmer since 2 months post launch. This is a kick in the face. If anything we should be petitioning for a set of alternate F1 – F4 skills that benefit phantasm support builds IMO
Yeah, I have actually been thinking about this lately, and if I was on the writing team I would likely implement this for the following reasons:
1. The dragons are trying to take over the world in a cartoon villain fashion while not revealing themselves
2. The dragons cannot communicate and that only compliments how they cannot be related with and seen as haphazardly creating chaos like a silly trickster god.
3. It would create quite a lot of tension to know that the dragons could walk among any army and any ranks at any time undercover essentially. They don’t need these always somehow stealthed minions to do their dirty work. They can also effectively strike down dangerous opposition to them in a surprise attack. Preferably in human form because sword fights are pretty bad-kitten . Let’s be honest here.
4. It would allow the dragons to communicate with themselves and even form a pact of their own. If the story continues as is the other dragons just stand by while they stupidly get picked off one by one in an almost tragically funny fantasy world. As wise as the dragons are hinted to be, they do not act like it, nor pull tactical military decisions of any kind. They’re always abrupt and foreseeable. Kind of disappointing IMO
Sweet, I’m in the second pic, haha.
In any case I hope the dev in question is given a stern talking to. There is a difference between those that afk for 30 mins and those that go to grab a drink, I feel that distinction was not made.
If players sitting around isn’t intended; they should make an accelerated log-out timer for players in the event not moving for 5 to 10 minutes. It’s not some devs job to police the server leaving customers vulnerable to human error.
So getting booted by a human because you had to use the bathroom for more than 5 minutes is wrong but it happening thanks to an automated system check is okay?
I almost expect asinine arguments when dev/GM police threads pop up, but some of these are just silly.
How can you prove it was 5 minutes plus and not a minute? Will an automated system make an error like that? Most likely not.
I’m surprised that you find this silly because from a business standpoint it is a very dangerous business practice. That’s like if walmart’s policy was for them to shake you down if they suspect you have stolen something. They don’t even need to prove it, just perceive that you have stood near the coat isle a little too long.
You see the problem with this kind of enforcement? Unreliable. Automated systems not so much.
Shame, engy really could have used those turret adjustments and the ele in general could have used all of those things.

I wanted to play a ranger from the start, however it seemed lack luster in comparison to the mesmer as far as interesting mechanics go. I gave it another go and I think it still needs some quality of life fixes.
The Pet Menu: It doesn’t give us as much information as the hero menu gives about our hero, it should, this is important for a pet class.
The Bows: For a master of the bow, the class itself seems oddly dull considering other classes can shoot fire and bouncing arrows, why can’t the ranger do this? It should be able to do everything under the sun when it comes to arrows by comparison. Perhaps we can get bow weapon skill swaps?
Bow damage: I know that dodging changes the balancing of this game entirely, but people pick the ranger class often with the intent of kicking some butt with the bow, however that is simply not the case as melee damage is often far superior, and it should be, with the exception of this class IMO. Not to mention in pvp you could just run a circle around the ranger to cancel their channeling shot. They either need a wider arc of firing sight, or just more damage. Something has to happen there.
Pets: Along with the other issues mentioned, they need to be survivable in larger encounters such as LA or WvW. I suggest some sort of passive resistance or a scaling resistance with the number of mobs/players in the area. Once you get in an encounter with 5+ players, the pets just get mowed down on accident often times.
Pets 2: Once you get your juvenile pet, there really isn’t a lot of interaction with them. I had heard that there was once an “evolution” idea with the pets that got axed at or before beta. Perhaps we could revisit that and they could “grow up” at some point through their own leveling system for optimal stats and perhaps the pet would get an anesthetic change of some sort.
Now that would be cool. Stalker could turn into some into some sort of lightning stalker with electricity coming out of it. A bit over the top perhaps, but I think that would be quite enjoyable to see and achieve.
Anet, please fix this. I am half-tempted to put this in the bug forums.
