Plat matches are frequently decided based on a couple top tier players in those matches. That means that a lot of your matches might be out of your control simply because you’re not as good as they are. However, if you’re losing 10 or 15 in a row, it’s almost definitely because you are upset and making more mistakes than usual. You push into bad situations because you think you need to carry. You complain because your team died while you were 1v3, but you fail to notice that you pushed into it while your teammates were on respawn.

As far as I’m aware, at minimum deviation, 15 points means the teams were even. If you lost 13, then you were expected to lose. On top of that, it’s possible that you haven’t played enough games to hit minimum deviation yet, so it was even less favored. Regardless, matches will frequently look more lopsided than they actually are. One play going different, the momentum shifts, and all of a sudden you’re stomping them. This has a lot to do with how bad teams are at regrouping and how easily they are demoralized.

Core Warrior is stronger than Berserker at the moment. Nobody should be playing Berserker, but Core Warrior is meta.

What do you mean by Minstrel’s?

After each season is a soft reset. This means that previous season placement does affect your placement in the following season to some degree. Unless you make some huge jump in skill during the offseason, this generally isn’t an issue. After that, your initial matches have a much larger effect on your rating than the later ones. If they went 10-0 their first matches, you would have to win significantly more matches to catch up if you lost some of your placements. This is slightly unfair, but the net result is better matchmaking, since players climb to their deserved rating quicker. Lastly, who you win against heavily affects how much you climb. If, for whatever reason, you get more matches against players worse than you, you can end up with a positive W/L but a low or even negative rating change.
TL;DR – There are a lot of factors at play here, and you will climb there over time if you deserve to be there.

If you think they intentionally deceived you, you’re silly.

Class based MMR would result in a lot more match manipulation. If someone is playing on a class that isn’t their highest rated, and they get matched with someone they don’t like, they will throw. This already happens to some degree without separate ratings. It would be like mixing the Unrated and Rated queues. Some players would be invested in winning, while others would not. Anet could punish players who do it, but it’s hard to prove, and they already don’t punish the cut and dry stuff, so I wouldn’t expect it to work out.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
ArenaNet’s never been very responsive about punishing unsportsmanlike behavior in PvP, whether it be AFKing, throwing, or BMing. I don’t really expect this to change, so you’ll just have to adapt.

Generally refunds only happen if you buy something immediately before a change is made. If you make a gemstore purchase and it goes on sale a week later, they will typically refund you. However, players bought multiple salvage-o-matics, but then only needed one after shared inventory slots became a thing. They were not offered refunds unless they had recently purchased it. If you’ve had it for a while, you’re stuck with it. If you got it just before the announcement, maybe you can contact support.

From what I remember, matchmaking puts teams together, then finds opponents as similar as possible to that team. I don’t understand matchmaking enough to know why they don’t just find the ten closest players and balance teams from that, but they don’t. This means that fewer players playing unranked will result in much worse matches. That Platinum team has to face somebody. The route of the issue is really just that most players are playing ranked. A lower unranked population means matchmaking in unranked will be worse during a ranked season.
Another contributing factor is that unranked uses a different rating than ranked. A player who doesn’t play unranked much or rarely plays seriously in it could have a much lower rating in unranked than is representative of their skill. That isn’t something Anet needs to fix, it’s just the result of a non competitive queue.

A first round match finished. The brackets never updated, so we’re stuck in a never ending tournament now.

From my googling, error code 7 has to do with packet loss between you and ArenaNet’s servers. Since it wasn’t a server wide issue, it’s highly unlikely to be ArenaNet’s fault.

… Warrior is my most played class…

It’s unbeatable in duels and effective in team fights. It can sustain outnumbered for quite some time. What more do you want?

They still can’t tell if they’re on the same or opposite teams.

People queue dodge by not queuing until the people they want to dodge are in matches. Why would they do it by cancelling queues?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Warrior was awful. Might Makes Right made it quite strong.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I played in an Automated Tournament with four other players who knew I was having connection issues and still decided to play with me. I’m not sure I see the comparison.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Sorry, I meant endurance. The mention of Acro Staff Thief is clearly building off of that.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Might makes right needs to give less adrenaline per night stack. The healing is fine. The fact that warrior is now the equivalent of Acro Staff thief isn’t. Also, most Spellbreaker builds do drop discipline for strength and defense.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
If you’re having enough connection issues to rack up on any significant amount of dishonor, you shouldn’t be queuing. Intentions aside, it’s the same result of ruining everybody else’s games.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I don’t support execution for somebody who steals an apple, but that doesn’t mean I think people should steal apples. In my opinion, taking money to win a tournament on another player’s account is worse than taking money to boost another player’s account, which is then worse than just playing on a friend’s account. The screenshots you posted were from a conversation where Marvin was complaining about the Dishonor he got for using a friend’s account as an alt. I told him he shouldn’t be queuing on another person’s account in ranked, and that the Dishonor was justified. Nowhere have I ever said I thought those behaviors were okay.
You’re really just arguing with a strawman. Jeff would willingly admit that he lost fairly to Abjured. It was a close game, but they lost fair and square. However, people were upset about it before the tournament even started, since the community knew it was going to happen. Whether they won or lost, people were going to be upset at Abjured for doing it, since it’s a kittenty thing to do. It just blew up more than it would have since they did win. All that meant was that ArenaNet couldn’t sweep it under the rug.
Also, your comments about my Discord are highly misleading. The conversation was centered around Marvin’s Dishonor, and people were complaining that ArenaNet wasn’t looking into it well enough. Marvin himself said that he can understand that ArenaNet gave him Dishonor for account sharing, but he’s upset because people like Helio and Kratos, who do it blatantly and for money, go unpunished because it isn’t properly investigated.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Every other player who took money to win a tournament on other players accounts. I agree with the Dishonor for the normal account sharing, but as I’ve said multiple times, taking money for it is even worse, and doing it in a tournament is worse still. I don’t understand what’s so hard to understand about that.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
You said “funny how you change your tune” at me. I think I’ve been fairly consistent in condemning boosters since the start.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
You literally linked me to a screenshot of me chastising Marvin for account sharing…?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Abjured was likely given such a harsh punishment because of all the stuff they’ve been pulling since the start of season 5. They’ve been abusing the system literally every season, and got dishonored multiple times. Despite this, they went even bigger and more public by boosting PvE accounts in the first AT monthly. To be honest, I am surprised that Kraalle/Helio and Karina/Throwny faced no punishment. I assumed the extended time between the tournament and the punishment meant they were looking into everything, but I guess not. Regardless, I do think taking money for it is a more serious offense, and Abjured has admitted to that.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
When did I say Jeff was boosting players?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Marvin, you playing on Mayu’s account to boost her is less of an offense than people like Katsumi and Helio boosting people for money, but it still is more than simple account sharing, You boosted Mayu to Legend, which is once again devaluing a fairly exclusive pvp badge. And it’s not like she’s quiet about it, either. I’ve seen her in HotM looking for people to play with by advertising herself as a legend player. So, Marvin, I love you and all, but I still do think that should be banworthy. You should not be able to play ranked matches on anybody else’s accounts. In my opinion, that’s where the line should be drawn. Obviously, that means they should investigate more or find an automated way to flag accounts for it, but your previous experience (due to Katsumi/Toker, not your own fault) should have made you more careful.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I think he’s talking about Kraalle playing on Helio’s account and Karina playing on Throwny’s account. That, however, was Jeff’s team, which got 3rd/4th, not the second place team. Still an issue, but at least they didn’t take money for it, I guess…
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I feel like it’s less about making an example, and more that these players have repeatedly cheated, match manipulated, RMT, and more. Anet gave them dishonor several times and they still kept going, this time in a rather public fashion. It’s a result of the repeated offenses, not just setting an example.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Toker hasn’t been playing Thief recently and came in late. Naru… isn’t as good as he thinks he is.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
For the oblivious, it’s a reference to Naru/Toker losing 2v1 vs Zorh as DH/DD vs Chrono.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
So is this a Helseth alt or are you just stealing his joke? Curious TBH.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I think the comparison should be to a situation where Abjured played on their mains. Abjured deserved the 1st place rewards, but they got them removed for the account sharing and RMT.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
discord.gg/JDw2EaX is the Never Lucky one. Most of the Abjured members have since left that Discord after receiving no sympathy, but I think you’re able to see old messages. Naru still keeps rejoining to kittenpost.
I don’t have an invite link for Rar’s discord, but that’s the other major public Discord where the drama was going down.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@Lilyanna Most likely, the only reason Naru isn’t responding on the forums is because he’s banned on them. He’s been actively defending his actions in multiple public PvP Discord servers since before they were actually punished, unlike the rest of his teammates who were at least smart enough to keep their mouths shut. You should see the chat going on in those Discord servers, since it’s 10x worse than anything they’ve been saying on the forums.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
It’s worth noting that any screenshots or proof posted on the forums would be infracted and removed.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Lmfao. What exactly do you think is wrong with my integrity? I think I’ve been incredibly consistent in not putting up with this kitten since the launch of the game, including kicking my own teammates from my weekly tournaments in the past for playing with ineligible players on alts.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
It’s worth noting that only one of the participating players had Dishonor.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Jeff actually said he would prefer if they were allowed to play so he could get another chance to beat them. That’s what he said to Jebro and I. Ask yourselves this: would any other competitive game let this slide? Whether or not you think UGO should ban them for it, I just want to emphasize that their actions should not be permitted. Some people think that should be left up to ArenaNet, but that’s not a clear cut issue. This is a community event, and the admins decided what we considered best for the community.
Also, there should be no question as to whether or not it did happen. Naru admitted to it in voice, and actively defends his 2v1 loss vs Zorh in multiple public PvP Discord channels. There are conversations from prior to the event detailing who would be doing what and for how much. On top of that, these players have admitted to and been punished for similar behaviors in the past. One of the participants actually had Dishonor on his main, so he shouldn’t have been able to participate at all.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
… They beat Jeff’s team 450-400 at timer… It’s not like the matches weren’t close…
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
One hour earlier each day.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
That doesn’t disagree with what I said. In an 8 team bracket, the matches go 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, and 4v5. In a 16 team bracket, they go 1v16, 2v15, 3v14, 4v13, 5v12, 6v11, 7v10, and 8v9.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
It’s not bad. It’s just inferior to Tempest when the other team has a necro, which is almost every game, and is easy to swap to if not. That makes it a niche build that is questionably superior to Powerful Aura Tempest with Surging Runes.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Your post definitely came off as aggressive.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
As if you’ve displayed better logic ._. You think it’s broken, so obviously everybody else is just ignoring and abusing it… instead of just not thinking it’s broken?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
No. Brackets work by facing the lowest seeds vs the highest seeds first. That results in more accurate results, but a worse low tier experience.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
But… it’s not?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I’m so glad you understand.
