Tankier builds are always easier to find success with. Does that mean they’re optimal? No, but it means they’ll be prevalent in queues and there will be teams who try to abuse it to beat better teams.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
To add to that, I find it funny that you think you understand the PvP meta better than all the top teams. Maybe you should try your hand at it, if you aren’t just a hotjoin hero rambling?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Abjured will adapt to the strongest meta. They’re strong players. I don’t want that meta to be any bunkier than it currently is, which is what Minstrel Amulet would promote. Do you really want to go up against teams with 2 or more Minstrel Amulets?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Minstel’s Amulet would be kitten on the scene and promotes less skillful play. The fact that you resort to personal attacks when someone disagrees with you just says your point doesn’t hold much water.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
If it means anything, Team Faded supports the removal of Minstrel Amulet <3

Most of you probably know that AspectGG hosts the 2v2 tournaments on a weekly basis (8:30 PM EDT battlefy.com/aspectgg). We’ve held a couple 3v3 tournaments from time to time, but generally it’s harder to get sign-ups for those. It’s much easier to grab a partner than two. However, some people still prefer those. I was thinking that we could change the first 2v2 of the month into a 3v3 if there was enough interest. Here’s a poll:
Discuss.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
@cakeonroof It doesn’t matter if the people who come to the forums kittening about their loss streaks are honest about the wins, too. The point is that the statistical anomalies are going to want to complain on the forums if they’re on the negative side, but the positive ones will not.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Anet’s stated that the algorithm doesn’t do that. I’ve never experienced it myself. With the number of people who play the game, it’s bound to come up somewhat frequently, because, yes, I think a lot of people are way worse than they think they are. You just don’t hear people complaining about the win streaks.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Putting players in predetermined win/loss streaks when solo queueing is a bit cruel. If that gets eliminated and at the same time get an overall improvement in matches, no other reward can make me happier.
But it doesn’t do this…

Why would we need unilateral nerf to conditions when condition-centered builds aren’t even viable? I don’t understand the logic here.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
He was laughing at my quote of Sikari’s typo, not the comment on conditions. Condition builds aren’t like turret engineer in that they encourage passive play. Look at the meta. There’s not a single pure condition build that’s run consistently at top tier. It’s all cele. If you nerf the base condi damage but make it stronger with more invested in it (condi damage and the like), then you make those cele builds weaker while promoting condi builds with more counterplay. If they have to invest in it to get good condi damage and pressure, then they’re easier to kill. Obviously if a build becomes strong as a result that is too mindless, you’d nerf it. Conditions aren’t inherently bad, though. They bring more build diversity and dimensions to an otherwise linear game. This is coming from someone who hates to run condition builds.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
At 1200 healing, boobs last 30% longer.
Anyway, conditions need overall buffs, not nerfs. They just need to require investment from the build to reach those new highs.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Conditions existing is fine. The issue with the celestial builds isn’t that conditions as a whole are too strong. The issue (which is mostly gone, by the way) is that the base condition damage is too high relative to what building for condis supplies. Your changes seem directly pulled from a dislike of conditions. Anything remotely similar to this would change the game to a much less diverse meta and would be awful for the game.

I bought 15 outfits, 4 minis, 2 armor sets, and a couple weapons skins. Annnnnd I’m broke again.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I think Warrior only really works as zerker warrior in a bunker guard comp (I disagree with EU’s shoutbow fetish), whereas engineer is easier to fit into a comp.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Grouch sent out gems and llamas for the weekly tournaments since August 19th.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Most teams will run two eles and a cele signet necro. Thieves are hit or miss and generally have to be able to multi-class. For example, Toker plays Engineer on Foefire. Past that Mesmers and Engineers are both strong, with Rangers being viable, but most teams aren’t comfortable running with them.
One other way to go with the comp is to build around the core of Bunker Guardian, Zerker Warrior, and Cele Ele. The elementalist can watch home, as well as support mid if the bunker guard is in trouble. The zerker warrior just tears through cele classes while surviving due to bunker guard support. That’s the strat that both the Radioactive and Apex comps are built around.
This is just my observations on the NA meta. I know EU has an odd fascination with Shoutbow for some god awful reason.

So here’s the thing with Runes of Vampirism. They really cut down on a lot of the clutch moments that make games fun. Set up a really good burst to kill someone annnnd… never mind he just reset to full health. It’s too strong for a passive and doesn’t promote skillful play.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
At the moment I’m going through and making sure all of the rules for Pugquest NA are clear, relevant, and fair. One rule that is up for discussion is the disconnect rule. As it is, any disconnect within the first 60 seconds will be eligible for a reset. After that, you are only eligible for resets if you have a lead of 50 points or higher. However, if it looks like map control is rapidly changing control to the losing team, it’s up to the admin’s discretion of whether or not to allow those resets. We’ve received complaints about how that rule COULD be abused (Alt+F4ing if you’re in the lead but about to lose), but I don’t believe it truly has been. I try to be more lenient for this event because it’s a for fun event where you can’t control who you’re playing with. At least if you’re on a team you know if your teammate has connection issues. Here you can’t control that. Anyway, I just wanted to get some feedback here, and maybe post a poll after I’ve seen people’s suggestions.
EDIT: Another rule that we have implemented right now is that Runes of Vampirism are banned on all classes. The bugs were fixed, but we feel that it doesn’t promote an enjoyable tournament experience. You can weigh in on that decision here as well.

They were last distributed on August 19th. As long as the tournament has happened since then, your Llamas is just on the backlog for distribution, and there’s nothing to worry about.

No point in making a list before stuff balances out. And people will criticize your list because of the title: “For New Players and Devs.” It’s quite a statement.

Necromancer is too high. Guardian is too high. Ranger is too low. Thief is too low.

You have the participants meet you in the BL. Anyway, tournaments like this aren’t uncommon. GoM had one two or so weeks ago. We had one on DB a while back. What you have to understand is that it’s not meant to be a hyper competitive PvP event. It’s a community building event.

Build diversity for each class is certainly an issue, but that’s not what the original post is talking about. He’s talking about rarely seeing certain classes at all. However, I don’t think that’s an issue currently. Every class has strong, meta specs that are useful in competitive play. Warrior is probably the least prevalent in top tier NA, but that’s as much because people don’t play it as it being weak. Thief can have trouble because of how tanky the meta is, but that’s rarely a problem in solo queues.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
They said 3 seasons per year. That’s 3 balance patches per year, or roughly one every four months.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
You’re losing because you’re playing against the same opponents you would if you were playing the build you were comfortable with. It would be like playing a new champion or role in LoL. There are a lot of things you can complain about, but losing on a class you are bad at compared to your normal skill level doesn’t really hold much water to me.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Belapls. When someone tries to stomp, you can CC them to stop it. When someone tries to stomp with blocks or stab, you strip the block or stab and then CC them. When someone tries to stomp with an invuln, you can stealth your ally, rez faster, port, etc. Obviously there is counterplay. All of your arguments could be expanded to include stability stomps, as it has the same sort of advantages over a regular stomp. I don’t really see any reason why an invuln stomp would be considered so broken. It’s not like it’s unstoppable. It’s just a longer CD that requires more teamwork to overcome.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Prizes were last distributed on August 19th. If you’re missing something 2-3 months ago, you’re likely not going to get that, so contact the tourney organizer first for that and go from there. You DO get all of it at once, though, Irrwi.

You know you’re perfectly capable of just ignoring the thread, atlrising? If you stopped commenting and nobody disagreed, the thread would die. If people still disagree, then they’d have a conversation about the topic you brought up. Just because you started the thread doesn’t mean you get the right to say when that discussion ends.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
There’s always going to be a skill level lower than the teams participating in a tournament. Pointing that out doesn’t make me a troll. Also, if you read what I was saying, I called the teams that Syn was stomping randoms, not Syn itself.
You aren’t trying to kill off the thread; you keep posting in it. You’re like a ten year old fighting for the last word. A thread disagreeing with you doesn’t make it toxic.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Everything’s relative. You should be comparing the teams you’re talking about to the ESL competition, not to the randoms that sign up.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
Define ESL caliber. Able to stomp you? Unless they are consistently dominating the AG tournaments, they aren’t close to the level of teams that actually compete in the ESL tournaments. AFAIK Syn has NOT been stomping the AG tournaments with any consistency, correct me if I’m wrong. Also, Genyen hasn’t done anything competitive in a while. Allowing the players to compete in the AG is a judgement call by Storm based on when they were last considered competitive.

As the title states, AspectGG is still looking for casters to cast one or all of our events. We currently host an NA 2v2 tournament Tuesdays at 8:30 PM EDT, Pugquest EU Saturdays at 10:00 AM EDT, and Pugquest NA Saturdays at 4:00 PM EDT. All of the tournaments typically take 2.5-3 hours to complete. If you’re interested, contact me in-game or post here or something.

A Tier – PU or Mantra Mesmer, Cele Signet Necro, DP Thief, Soldier Engi
B Tier – Rampage Warrior, Bunker Guardian, Power Ranger, Staff Ele, Condi Mesmer
The classes are fairly balanced, but the balance itself is based around low-skill, forgiving bunker builds.

ESL doesn’t bother to change the rules on the site for the beta weekends, so I can’t point to the rule. OPN gave the answer, and Trixxti responded with sass. I understand that you might still have questions since OPN just said no, but maybe ask those instead of just ignoring the response.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
They said no last beta weekend. Do you really need to ask or are you just being intentionally dense?
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
That’s funny, because I expect a mantra mesmer to win this easily.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief
I disagree that 3 eles is a better team comp. Most top players will switch classes if they think it will make a better team comp. For example, Phantaram switching to Medi Guard in the burst meta. You can try asking Noscoc if you want, but I don’t think Abjured wants another ele.
