I want the demolisher’s stats like exist in spvp. It’s Maurader’s with vitality swapped to toughness.

Agreed – not sure why Demolisher’s hasn’t been made available in PvE yet to be honest.

Correct. The weapon/backback skins, wardrobe unlock, and lounge passes are once per account. The dye selection, karma, birthday booster, experience scroll, and teleports to friend are per character.

This topic comes up a lot so I know a lot of the ideas we’ve all come up with have been rehashed many times. Personally I like playing Rev a lot, but do think something needs to change in regard to CDs, weapon energy costs, or energy management. LoreChief’s ideas seem good. A way to gain back energy would be helpful. Also helpful would be having energy slowly drain when leaving combat. It really stinks to be out of combat for one second and lose up to 50% energy you’d worked up.

I’d posted my commentary about the first PvE beta weekend, but wanted to add my comments about the second beta weekend as well.

Liked:

  • The Holosmith was a lot of fun to play, had a great balance of risk vs reward, and the traits were well-balanced. The traits really made me think about what I wanted to pick, and often multiple choices were good ones. To me that is good design.
  • Firebrand also was fun, and for me it will be a toss up if I spend more time with Firebrand or Dragonhunter. Either way my Guardian has some good options.

Did not like:

  • I really wanted to like Spellbreaker, but I just couldn’t find myself enjoying it. It seems like a very PvP-oriented specialization. One small thing that might help improve Spellbreaker just for me is if the healing on Sun and Moon style for offhand dagger was doubled or tripled.
  • Going into the beta weekend, I expected to really like Soulbeast. I found myself disappointed by it. It seems to be most useful while in melee range only, the F1/F2 skills seemed extremely weak, and lack of pet swap while in beastmode was a deal-breaker. (Or remove the beastmode cooldown if we cannot have pet swap.)
  • The demo weekend showcasing the elite specializations should have been open to both PvP and PvE. For PvE at least the limited Crystal Desert area like we had in the first demo weekend would have been nice. Being limited to PvP/WvW only was not a great way to get the full experience of what these elite specializations could do. Fighting the congestion in the Heart of the Mists for golems or profession spar partners was not fun.

I totally misread Gaile’s post, and thought she said we should add our second demo weekend feedback to this thread. My apologies! If a moderator wants to move my post to Gaile’s other thread, that would be fine.

The damage isn’t too high, but its cooldowns are way too low. Holo Leap needs to be a 4 or 5 second cooldown at least. Having a 2 second cooldown on such a high damage skill is simply absurd.

I’d prefer to leave Holo Leap alone. But if it must be changed, another option might be to leave the cooldown alone, but increase its heat generation.

I see a lot of people saying Holosmith damage needs to be reduced, but I’m not so sure that’s true. It’s a high risk / high reward specialization, and it doesn’t offer all that much other than high damage. In other words if you reduce damage on Holosmith, what are you left with?

Since it looks like the demo weekend is in PvP and WvW areas only, where’s a good place to privately test builds? I ask because I was tooling around in heart of the mists a bit, but the various golem test areas are very congested. It is difficult to test and see what I’m doing versus what other people did. Anyone know if there’s a way to break out to a private area for testing?

Regarding picking up a ley organ, my first preference would be that doing so would not destroy minions. But if that’s not possible, my second preference would be that they just “go into hiding” like the ranger’s pet does when you pick up a ley organ. When you’re done with the ley organ, they would reappear.

I’m hoping the number of hero points required to fully train the new elite specs will not be higher than 250. (In fact I’d prefer to see it lower.) Reason being I want to enjoy as much of the new content as possible with my new specs. I don’t want to consume most of the content by the time I get the specs unlocked.

“Consume all” is no good since you may not want to consume them all, it’s far better to make a stack of ToK ask how many you want to consume, or if you are under level 80 to ask if you just want to boost to 80. Being able to specify an amount to use is a far better QoL upgrade since you can then boost to 35 or 53 for mule/bag opener characters easily.

Pretty easy to split a stack with the Alt key though. Split it into the stack size you want and then right-click and consume all.

I can see the arguments for “on the spot” dueling, but I think the arguments for having it in a separate space, possibly even instanced, make more sense. For example if two people were in Queensdale and wanted to duel, would they then show as “foes” to other players, or still show as “allies”? If foes, what would stop the uninitiated from joining in and attacking? If allies, what’s to stop other players from tossing in a healing turret or other boon to skew the duel?

Besides the logistical challenges and making the mechanics work in the open world, my opinion is that it also creates the wrong atmosphere. In PvE, it’s us versus the enemies – you want to always be grateful to see other players coming because we’re on the same team. Having pockets of player fights going on, even if they don’t directly affect you, just creates a different atmosphere that I’d argue is detrimental.

A dueling option carved out in its own dedicated space though? I’m all for it. Gives those who want it a place to go, and those who don’t care for this something to safely ignore.

Hey guys,

I just heard from Irenio, and he mentioned that there is a second fix going in that should eliminate a few lingering issues with the Pet Swap delay. The situation was only partially addressed the first time around but the whole issue should be fully resolved with this second pass.

Naturally if you continue to have issues, we want to hear it, and we’ll keep an eye on this thread in case you need to report something. However, I believe this will render this bug “done and dusted.”

Excellent – thank you for that update! Definitely looking forward to having a responsive pet immediately after swap once again.

Gotcha – makes sense. Here’s hoping that is correct!
My eyes originally saw that 5 as being associated with the trait name to the left, rather than to the mainhand item on the right, thus I thought it was a global 5s ICD for the trait. Looks like my wiki reading skills need an upgrade.

Just curious how do we know the 5s ICD doesn’t affect the offhand effect? I agree it shouldn’t, since a 7% crit to healing only every 5s is nearly worthless. It needs to be on every crit to be of value. But just looking at the wiki I would have assumed the 5s ICD affected both mainhand and offhand.

Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback. The first PoF preview weekend was a lot of fun, and I’m definitely looking forward to the next one when we can take a look at the new elite specializations. Here are a few observations about the first preview weekend:

Liked

  • The raptor was useful, fun, and I really liked that it was always available on the skill bar
  • Map scenery and art was beautiful, engaging, and well designed
  • Music was appropriate and well-done as always
  • Bounty board
  • Being able to dye the mounts (need more dye channels though)
  • Liked the material reward chests and heart vendor rewards

Did not like

  • Need either more WPs, some “free” unlockable WPs like the Siren’s Landing shrines, or some other form of instant travel like thermal tubes – mounts are fine, but not a substitute for fast travel when you want to get to content quickly
  • Hearts took too long to fill (especially the raptor training one)
  • Need to be able to dismount and glide when falling while mounted
  • Didn’t like the boss mechanic requiring us to stand in the designated area to do damage – it seems contrived and took away some of the fun factor during those fights – especially with that hyena boss that shadowsteps frequently, his designated area was changing so rapidly the fight just got frustrating and I left
  • Please no more keys without giving us a keyring

I don’t think the issue is quite fixed yet. I’m still seeing that immediately after swap the F2 skill can still be a bit unresponsive. It’s not working quite like it did before the big update introduced this issue.

Also it looks like on pet swap the pet now appears at the foe location? I can’t tell for sure because it seems like the pet is invisible right after the swap. I usually play with a jungle stalker, so I liked having the pet appear near me, hit F2, and get the boon. If the pet appears at the foe location, it’s not nearly as useful.

I liked the JP in Siren’s Landing. For me what made it a good experience was that I didn’t need an external guide (like Dulfy) to figure out where to go. With some exploration and some minimal trial and error, I figured it out on my own. Personally that’s more rewarding than following someone’s posted guide. As a point of comparison, I followed guides for the JPs in Ember Bay and Draconic Mons. With some of the long blind jumps in those two, I really don’t think I would have figured those out on my own without the guides.

From the Siren training area go behind the choir, climb some boat wreckage, glide around the cliff to get on a sloped ledge, walk up to the highest part of that ledge you can, glide over to the next cliff, then glide around the edge to get to the top of waterfall area. You can fight the Unchained Spider or go get the mastery point.

- Abbadon’s Ascent JP – one or two ‘blind’ jumps, but otherwise a well-done JP
- Siren’s Landing map – good visuals and fun gameplay
- A new Fractal
- Updated bank-depositable materials

Did not like:
- No tome for lounge passes yet
- Story felt a bit contrived – the Shining Blade oath portion was not necessary
- Lack of prior masteries (thermal tubes, oakheart reach) in Siren’s Landing

I know what you mean. Some of my favorites like Ember Bay, Edge of the Mists, and Draconis Mons being listed as bad maps makes me shake my head. I guess it proves how varied all our tastes are.

I’d say none of the GW2 maps are bad – the designers and artists are all top-shelf for this game. Some maps are less engaging than others though, so here are ones I don’t find as fun so usually just avoid them.

1. Plains of Ashford (even for a starter zone it seems too basic)
2. Desert Borderlands (too big and spread out)
3. Snowden Drifts (feels like it was an afterthought)
4. Straits of Devastation (a bit too much water with not a lot of reason to go in the water)
5. Bitterfrost Frontier (so much potential misapplied such as non-useful leylines and thermal tubes, daily elixir, areas with little need to ever visit twice – this map could have been so much better)

I know it doesn’t solve the problem of needing to go back to a vendor to sell the minor runes/sigils, but that part of it doesn’t bother me so much. What I’d like to see though is the ability to flag certain items as “junk”, and maintain a personalized “junk” list. Then at the merchant when I click the “sell junk” button it would sell everything I had personally flagged as junk.
