Phase I 400-450 Solo
It’s not going to cost me even 5 gold, I do a solo farming run in Frostgorge, Malcor’s Leap & Cursed Shore for Ancient Wood & Orichalcum, takes less than 1 hour, then do 3 JP’s and 1 or 2 champs. I get enough to make 3 or 4 exotics per week. So in less than 2 weeks I go from 400-450 with zero cost.

See
http://gw2nodes.com/index.php

Phase II 450-500 Group/team up
I may continue to do some T6 mat runs every other night, then do champ hunts or dungeon runs for T7 material. It may take a month or even longer but, won’t cost anything outside the recipes, plus I’ll still make a little gold. Remember to farm everything and sell what you don’t need.

That is not zero cost. That’s still dozens of gold worth of loot. So you farmed the loot instead of farming the gold to buy the loot, yeah, big difference…

Anyways: if you go in with a plan and you’re not in a hurry (and you shouldn’t be, because it’s not like ascended weapons are significantly better than exotics anyway) you will not have any problems with the cost to level a profession or two up to 500. The initial cost is high, but some of it will be returned when you start selling the results of your crafting and the rest will eventually be made back with the ascended materials.

Using your cellphone for online transactions is generally a really bad idea, because aside from the cost of the transaction itself you have to pay an extra fee to the mobile company, another fee to the company handling the transaction, plus all the taxes in each step. Which means that more often than not you’re paying almost twice the cost you would have been paying if you went through paypal, paysafecard etc.

If you find it hard to get all the materials to level your crafting, then you should probably back away and come back whan you have enough money for the materials. Don’t try to actually grind the materials out – it’s pointless. Sell them instead, gather the money, get to level 80 if you’re not yet (crafting is useless to you if you’re not 80 anyway), do some gold farming/investments and then go back to crafting – at that point leveling a crafting discipline from 1-400 should actually seem pretty reasonable cost-wise. Until you have enough money to comfortably cover all the expenses, crafting is only worth it for some quick exp and nothing more.

Are they resetting your exotic discoveries on weaponsmithing in this patch!? So, does that mean I’m losing all the exotic celestial gear I’ve discovered and have to get the inscriptions again!! I will not be happy at all.

You never discovered any celestial gear in the first place – everything came from a recipe. Recipes are not reset, only discoveries.

Based on what could be gleaned from the developer livestream, sprockets and quartz/charged quartz play no role in Ascended weapon crafting.

That is partly true. You actually need 5 charged quartz if you want to make an ascended celestial weapon.

Why is superior divinity so much more?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: PMilkos.9103

PMilkos.9103

It’s quite simple if you think about it.

Superior runes will generally give you 35 stats per rune on average, plus a 6th-rune bonus, or 27,5 stats per rune on average and a bunch of minor bonuses.
Orbs will usually give you 48 stats per orb. A ruby orb will give you 34 stats plus 2% critical damage per orb.
Divinity runes will give you 60 stats plus 2% critical damage per rune.

I believe it is quite clear why they cost as much as they do.

As to why the major divinity runes cost so much less… well, a rune or sigil that gives you some unique passive or something like + % condition duration is always useful. And, due to the internal cooldowns, a major on-crit sigil is often effectively the same as a superior one.
An upgrade component that only provides raw stats, on the other hand, is only good when it provides the best stats. So, only superior raw stat upgrade components are worth anything.

Except for some builds they HAVE the same, or at least pretty similar, usefullness values for each of their stats. All of these stats are equally important for a power necromancer. Condition damage and healing power are slightly less important than the rest, but not enough to warrant sacrificing almost half my total stat points.

Look, you’re just gonna have to accept that some classes and some builds scale differently and have different synergies than others. I would never consider anything other than berserker’s for my warrior, because warriors are generally very forcused around direct damage, but celestial is the best for my necromancer – because the necromancer class itself is a jack-of-all-trades in the first place.
If that’s not the case for your character then fine, nobody’s forcing you to get celestial.

yup yup, you’re not gonna do much killing with less power than Cleric’s gear. That’s the biggest problem of Celestial gear tbh… you have so dang little power.

But you have much more condition damage, precision and tons of critical damage. Unless you’re just fighting structures then you should be doing almost twice the damage with celestial than with cleric (I know. I had full cleric before switching to celestial. Let me assure you the difference in damage is night and day)

Highest crit damage does not mean anything without the power and precision to back it up.

My power necromancer gets +50% critical chance when in either DS or Lich Form. Add in a warrior standard and that’s over 100% critical chance. I do not need more precision.
My power necromancer also inflicts multiple conditions on merit of simply being a necromancer. I can inflict multiple bleeds, poison and torment in an AoE. In a fight with multiple enemies that makes up for the loss in power as far as damage is concerned. In a boss fight I use lich form anyway, making the difference in damage minimal.
My necromancer also scales twice as much as any other class from vitality due to deathshroud. She also scales 2-3 times as much as other classes with toughness, due to highest hp pool + deathshroud + tons of heals.
Speaking of heals, Both focus4 and Blood Well scale exceptionally nice with healing power.

So, to all the naysayers: can you make a proper arguement on why I should not be using celestial?

I assume by “invasions” you mean the Aetherblades… and you’d better be trolling if you consider that “living on the edge”. So far the Aetherblades have a kill record slightly worse than that of the grubs in Caledon forest…

Add to that the bit where there will be more than one stat you aren’t even using;

No, there won’t be. That’s the main reason people would build celestial – because their class and build scales equally well with ALL stats. Not all classes and builds work that way, but I do know that, at least for my power necromancer, there’s not a single stat in Celestial gear I’m not using efficiently. And as a result I end up with damage compairable to berserker’s and a lot of extra defence on top of that.
If that’s not true for your class and build, then you should not be building celestial. Simple as that.

You math is horrible.

A 2% stat increase on each item means a 2% total stat increase on the full set.

(2%)/1 item = 2%

Trying to control the precursor market is unbelievably stupid. With craftable precursors coming in the near future, and new precursors dropping each day from the constant zergs anyway, it’s basically asking to lose all your money.

PS. This is NOT a monopoly. It’s still an open market, meaning anyone could come and undercut them by however much they want, meaning they’ll have to either keep buying out the competition or keep re-listing their stock. Either way they lose colossal amounts of money.

Why do people want to win the event?

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: PMilkos.9103

PMilkos.9103

Isn’t it a better question: why do you care so much about loot that you actively prevent others from winning the event. Yes, by farming you are actively slowing down the event instead of progressing fast. I’ve seen events fail with 25 minutes on the clock for the final wave, because of farmers. Saying well you can still succeed if you focus on minions is not a justification I want to hear, because it simply doesn’t work no matter how much you say it.

You want to farm, fine, but not at the expense of others, which is happening here.

1) Nobody could “actively prevent others from winning the event” even if they wanted to. Even if the AB event the farmers are in is prolonged by a couple minutes due to scaling, there are still many more AB events that are not, because farmers cannot possibly be everywhere at the same time. If you care so much about finishing the meta event, go do those on a small group. Noone is stopping you and noone could stop you even if they wanted to.

2) Nobody is preventing anyone from winning, because there is no winning. Or losing, for that matter. There is no reward for winning and no penalty for losing, and the event is not even hard enough to do for bragging rights. Noone’s doing anything at the expense of anyone.

3) You’ll have to accept that this is not a single player game. There are other people in it, all influencing one another, and each individual is entitled to play the game however they want. There are rules to be followed, but none of them is “dynamic events are mandatory” – otherwise you’d have to start a banning campaign against anyone who chooses to do a JP or a heart during an invasion event.

Which is kind of useless if you ask me. It only really serves as a QoL thing when changing your whole build (which is not something you’ll be doing on the fly, because it requires a completely new set of equipment and a full trait respec). Otherwise, you’ll just end up having a weapon whose stats don’t gel with the rest of your gear.

Nah, Deadeye didn’t reward you based on risk, because with the correct strategy there was no risk whatsoever. Hell, he was lucky to land one hit on my Guardian. Nothing risky about that. Granted, they probably never intended for him to be so easily killable, but… still.

You could Gamble with the Clovers and maybe get high priced t6 mats but this is a gamble.. ive put in about 1000 coins, 1000 ecto’s 1000 shards 1000 Crystals

Link to clovers here – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Clover
I came out with nothing lost, nothing gained ( after selling everything ) and 240 Clovers

Will never do it again as i have enough for 3 Legendarily now lol .. yet to make 1 .. kitten u pre curser weapon lol 1000g worth of exotic weapons in mystic forge with ZERO pre cursers…Its been over a year started playing from the games release .. should it take this long to make a Legendary!

I guess they want me to buy it from the TP! .. back to farming gold then.

You know what you could have done with those 1000g worth of exotics? Buy MULTIPLE precursors right away. I mean seriously, if you want to get a car you don’t go and spend a fortune on the local lottery, you just go and buy the freaking car…

Gambling is something you do every once in a while just for the sake of it, it’s not an investment. That is, not unless the odds are in your favour and you can do it in large numbers. Which was incidentally the case with the clover gambling up until the last couple of patches, after which the price of many of the related materials dropped through the floor and as such the odds are once again against us.

So, on topic: just sell them on the TP for 2-3s a piece. There are some recipes that involve them as well, but for the most part they require rediculous amounts of skill points for not that impressive of a profit. Or you could just hoard them on the off-chance that they some day get some trully good use – makes little difference either way.

Wasting my time, money, and has gotten me totally frustrated with the event.

Am I expected to stand around for an hour or two until an event pops and WP in at that exact moment or be out of luck?

Even the time I got into an event (failed miserably on the one OF it put me in) I didn’t see any portals to close. How in the world do you get those achievements? The portals are in the air and you can not reach them to close them.

A couple waypoint costs hardly qualify as a “big gold sink”. 2 whole silver lost, yeah, how will we ever feed the children now… come on, just pick a couple plants, kill an animal or two, and you’ll get your money back.
The events are at set times so that wasted waypoint should never happen in the first place. What should you do while waiting? I don’t know… doing your daily sounds pretty reasonable to me…

Or maybe she never had that Sylvari heritage in the first place. Remember, there are many Sylvari far to the northeast of the Grove that were not born of the Pale Tree…

PMilkos.9103

Now we have cannon that says Sylvari are indeed smarter than Asura.

Sylvari are immune to Dragon Corruption.

Sylvari are able to glow…

I think its pretty much set that in Tyria, Sylvari are indeed the master race.

The Pale Tree was suppose to become the elder Jungle Dragon’s champion but rebelled… like Glint. Ventari’s Tablet changed everything. Your entire race was actually suppose to be the unwitting minions of the elder Jungle Dragon. The Nightmare Court is what the Sylvari true form is.

It’s not that Sylvari are immune to Dragon Corruption it’s that the Sylvari are already “owned” by an elder dragon; just not officially claimed thanks to the Pale Tree’s actions. Evidence? Risen cannot be Branded. Branded cannot be Icebrooded. If you look closely you will not see a Branded Sylvari or an Icebrood Sylvari. The law of ownership states that which is owned by one force cannot by nature become the property of another force.

More Evidence? Minions of elder dragons will fight minions of other elder dragons. That the Sylvari fought Zhaitan and his Risen means nothing heroic. It is their “nature” to attack their enemies.

While all that is indeed 99% certain to be true, I don’t think we necessarily need to think of the Nightmare court as the “true form” of the Sylvari. I like to think of them more as Sylvari that have lost any sort of guidance, either from the Plae Tree or from the dragon himself. And as for Mordremoth… he strikes me as odd. You see, all other dragons represent destructive aspects of nature – death, fire, ice, thunder, water – and have already started rampaging across Tyria. Yet Mordremoth is the dragon of… trees and flowers I guess, and he hasn’t even bothered anyone so far. He just seems to me more like the kind of dragon that cleans up the mess of the others after they’re done. Which leaves me to believe that the Sylvari were created specifically to repopulate Tyria after it’s destroyed by the other 5 dragons. Which means… we are the master race

Celestial exotic gear will most probably still have more total stat points than most ascended sets. As such no, it’s not pointless to make one right now, especially since we don’t have the slightest clue as to how soon™ the introduction of ascended gear will be. Get your gear with all its juicy stats now, benefit from it and who knows, you might actually find out that you liked your previous gear set more and as such save yourself the time you would have put in making ascended celestial.

PS. Something very important that we do not know is if ascended armor/weapons will have upgrade slots, or just infusion slots like ascended trinkets. Because if they don’t that’s a very good reason for certain builds to stay with exotics (although I would assume that Anet would have forseen that, because having exotics be potentially better that ascended would be absurd).

Well, first of all, you won’t find exotic back items on the TP – only masterworks and rares. Exotics you’ll find from guild vendors and temple vendors. Ascended you can craft in the MF.
The quality doesn’t really matter though – back items barely anything more stat-wise than an extra gem slot, regardless of quality. From rare to exotic the stat difference is just 2×2 stats total. For ascended it’s probably 2×3, if we include the gems, still not worth it unless you want to infuse it afterwards.

That’s not diminishing returns. 100 power is 100 power regardless of how much you previously have. Diminishing returns would be to reduce all bonus power by, say, 50% beyond the 3000 mark, so that at 2900 power 100 more would bring you to 3000, and 100 more than that would only bring you to 3050. What it is is a decrease in relative value – but diminishing returns it is not.

Everything is account bound (you should have honestly known that already)

But in crafting an item. I’ve crafted stuff before and sold them on TP this is the first time I’ve come across crafting an item and it was account bound. So No not everything is account bound.

Eveything concerning celestial items is account bound. Charged quartz, inscriptions, final product, everything.

This is also the first item that is time-gated in such a way. Honestly, the moment you saw that you can only craft 1 charged quartz per day, and that it is account-bound, you should have gone and found out what’s what.

I would really love to see you argue how the value of your 2 silver and 40 seconds is greater than that of my 3 minutes and 2 gold (I wish that was 2 gold btw, I’m farming 3G Ragemaw so it’s actually a bit over 1 gold… which is still 50 times more than 2 silver anyway)

Argue with you? How about no.

Well, since you have no arguements anyway, I guess not argueing is indeed the only way…

Its not about the money. It is the principle of how people farming that event, act. Lets just call them for arguments sake; selfish. Kinda like society in general nowadays actually. Care only for one self, for no one will care for you otherwise.

You expect people to sacrifice 50-100 times more than what you sacrifice on the name of some kind of principle? Are you not being more selfish yourself?
Here’s the principle I go by: always go for the smallest possible sacrifice. Which is why I do not revive anyone while I’m farming and why I have no problem whatsoever moving on to a different arena if my previous one gets crowded.

My question is should I actually hold item for a year?

lets say I bought 30,000 quartz crytal at 40 copper each. Should I just dump everything at 65 copper and take my 20-40% profit and leave?

Since I have like 200 stack of dragon coffer, 70 stack of dragon food, 40 stack of zaittaffy, 25 stack of molten core, and many stack of other thing. I keep waiting for them to go up.

The truth is if I just sell everything when they go up 30-50%, and buyout another and redo the process, I probably make much more money. Instead of waiting for month/year for them to go up.

I think taking those 30-50% profit and dump to move on to the next thing is probably the better way to do it?

Watch as the prices rise everyday. Eventually they will reach a plateau, after which demand will start becoming lower than supply and prices will fall. Unless you have storage space issues (not unlikely with those 120 hypothetical stacks of quartz) you want to dump all those stacks during that plateau for maximum profit. Alternatively, you can wait until the release of ascended armor and gamble on whether or not quartz will be used on that (I personally have about 3000 crystals which I mostly keep for personal use when and if ascended celestial gear ever requires them)

Quartz, Zaitaffy etc are not exactly great investments however. They take too much space for minimal profit. So, if you ever find yourself with a bunch of money to invest, buy skins instead. A stack of Quartz would have given you about 1g profit by now. A stack of Dessert Roses on the other hand would have given you 875g profit (if you had 750g to buy one, that is)
