I agree with most of the negative points here, this is like a big pve dungeon, not a wvw map, but with most things in this game, this is how the map will roll out whether we like it or not, they never change anything once the have it the way THEY like it.

I just started the download a few minutes ago and I am getting anywhere from 3mb/sec to 12mb/sec speed.

Agree that the video doesn’t show enough for us to make an accurate assessment, BUT judging from what we’ve seen so far and Anet’s comments about the map, it does seem like the map focuses too much on vertical drops and choke points.
This is the completely WRONG way to design a WvW map. I hope Anet takes the overwhelmingly negative feedback against EotM/Skyhammer map design into serious consideration before releasing this new map.
There is no turning back now, Anet has a bad reputation for making these types of bad decisions. They have repeatedly shoved “new content” out for wvw that goes against what the majority wants of likes, they are completely out of touch with the wvw population.

I think they took exactly what the WvW population didn’t want, another EoTm style map, and the game will suffer because of it imo.

The name of the game is Guild Wars 2. Not Blob wars 2. This update allows small guilds to run together effectively. If things become too K-train-ish I’m sure the devs can alter upgrades, add new things like those siege disables, and altogether just adapt the change for the best.

In my opinion GvG in WvW is what is helping to kill WvW.
If I didn`t do GvGs I would have stopped playing 1 year ago.
In between GvGs I raid 5 days/week to keep up my practice and kill things on borderlands helping my server.WvW would be a lot more DEAD without all the GvG players desperately trying to keep guilds alive.

The new pve map is like a kick in the teeth to wvw players. They have told us for over a year that it takes to long to make new maps, but they come out with a map, that with a little work, would be great for wvw.

Seasons is a waste of time imo, I really don’t get all the hype over it. It is the same thing as regular wvw except you get some useless tickets at the end.

As a WvW regular and someone who visits these forums weekly to criticize the problems I have to say I have no problem with these ideas.
Let’s all take a deep breath.
The last month alone we have seen more hands on discussion with WvW than we have in the last year, this is a good thing.
If you’re as hardcore as I am you should remember a very long time ago the mention of the WvW rule-set possibly changing certain weeks. This would allow different strategies and offer a new challenge to current strategies.
I’m really surprised at how many angry posts I’m reading. You need to understand that a magic wand can’t be used. The problem needs to be fixed and they are making an attempt to finally, all be it slowly, fix it.
Just throwing stupid ideas into this does not make for better game play. These changes are not in any way to helpful to wvw players. I already don’t play the game as much as I used to because of the things they call updates have all been a farce imo.

Hello All,
There was quite a lot of discussion around the proposal of removing white swords from objectives in WvW. We understand there are concerns about how this change might work in practice or how player behavior may change as a result of it. We felt like the best way to understand fully the impact, and give players a chance to see for themselves how it directly changes the WvW experience is to let people try it and see what they think.
We have decided to run a special multi-week event in WvW where we’ll be changing some of the “rules” of WvW for a limited time. This event will feature two major rule changes while it is running: we are planning to remove white swords from objectives, and add points per kill in WvW to the over-all score for the duration of this event. We are currently targeting December for this event but will keep you posted when we have dates nailed down for certain. If this type of event is successful, we may look to do more events like this in the future where for short periods of time the rules of WvW are changed to different rules, scoring and scenarios to help both keep the game fresh, as well as to change up the experience and try new fun things for WvW.
We look forward to your feedback once the event begins, both on the temporary event only changes, as well as the concept of these special events in WvW.Thanks,

Once again you ignore the player base and make changes, because YOU think they are good changes, making changes like this is only going to bleed more players from wvw whether temporary or not. There has not been a so called update worth anything since launch to keep players playing all you have done is drive more players away from the game.

I think ANET should take 3-5 people from each server, let the server decide who, and have some meetings with these and figure out what can be done, because some of these ideas here are just down right scary and will ruin wvw.

Is there no way to separate masterworks, rares and exotics while trying to look something up? I like the new organizational feel to the new TP, but other then that it sucks for trying to find anything. Am I missing some thing?

I don’t look at these forums as much as I used to, but in the past every time someone from Anet would reply to a forum thread about wvw, the thread would become toxic from all the ppl that care so much for wvw, and it would just turn into a hate fest towards Anet for not doing anything to fix or improve wvw.

WvW is not about 1v1 combat, besides most roamers looking for fights are geared for it and usually take me down in 3-4 hits, so really, what’s the point…

WvW and seasons are just a joke right now. Something needs to be done seasons is the biggest joke of all, honestly I don’t understand all the hype for seasons, it is the same thing but you get crappy rewards after.

The best way to play necro in WvW is to be flexible. I switch between power and cond builds depending on whether or not I’m in a zerg, small group or solo roaming. Also depends on the common enemy and what you are trying to accomplish. Power works very well in zergs, and in fights where conditions don’t work very well for an assortment of reasons. Conditions work very well for roaming, solo camping, or generally a small group fight. I use them also during sieges to keep track of where my targets are behind the walls.
This is what I do and it works well swapping gear according to the situation. With the meta in wvw being high toughness I like to use a lot of condi damage on warriors and guards, having both of those classes as well, I know how condi damage can eat through toughness.

I can’t see what’s going on from all the PARTICLE EFFECTS from skills. Are we winning the fight? I can’t tell because of all the PARTICLE EFFECTS from the skills. Where is my commander? I can’t find him or stay on the tag because I can’t see him through all the PARTICLE EFFECTS from skills.
Anet can you please look into this? You said you would a long time ago, but it still is a big problem.
Before anyone says “use your mini map to follow the commander” I have a 27" monitor I don’t want to watch the game on a 3" mini map.

I guess I’m the only one that has a problem with this change? Don’t get me wrong it’s great if your running around with a group of 20 guys or more in wvw and 5-6 of them are guardians, but other then that where kitten for speed even more.
Trying to get back to a fight, pfft forget about it takes forever now, I’m forced to keep Retreat on my bar, not that I don’t like Retreat, I just don’t want it all the time. Why doesn’t it work with boon duration like the other boons? It’s not like guards speed was OP, 4 seconds, unless you stop and let it stack up? cmon…

I know a check box was added to the graphics settings in options, but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Is there anything new on this? Will we ever have a way to turn off the particle effects from skills? I feel I’m being blinded I can’t see a thing when fighting in wvw or anywhere for that matter when there are more then 10 people.

Even outside wvw I am getting lag, albeit not as bad as in wvw. It is more then just skill lag it is…just lag, everyone seems to be jerking across the screen around me, instead of a smooth flow.

Everything contributes to the lag, all the way down to mini pets, game sounds, the flashing skill animations, in game weather…

The skill lag in WvW is not Anet’s fault. It is a core latency problem in distributed system and latency between network nodes and the client/server side.
Be glad that there is a game that allows 300 people on one map from 2-3 different continents all a the same time. Even a normal multiplayer game with 16 players on the map has lag on a 100Mbits network and dedicated servers.
So try to enjoy the game because the skill lag on a full queued map is not going to be fixed and it out of any software developer hands.
I played a game 10 years ago called Silkroad that had an area for large battles, 300 people, and there was no lag, that was 10 YEAARS ago.

The new map, with bloodlust was supposed to encourage people to play in smaller groups…and keep those points, but…
Large zergs are the way you win in wvw, and winning is what people want, not badges for kills in small groups.
Right now I believe the lag would be there if we are running a 70 man zerg or 20 5 man groups, the servers can’t keep up.

I thought I had read there was going to be a fix for this? Yes, I see that we have a check box, but it does noting to help the problem. In wvw you can’t even tell what you are doing in a fight, it is just ridiculous.

Or give us a way to turn them off. Most of the time in WvW I can not even tell what is going on all I see is a blinding flash from all the skill effect flashes.

who really cares about the end score. I’m experiencing some of the most epic fights since the SoS/JQ/SBI matchups.
^^this/ Score really means nothing anymore lets just go out and have fun, and for a new twist no one start one of these threads next week if SOR, BG AND JQ are together again.
