It needs to throw away the rank system, get rid of all stats and just have people killing each other for the joy of killing other players.

All the rank system has done is promote the “Zerg all camps, defend nothing, run from all fights because we could be capping a camp instead” playstyle.

The other day we were siegecapped on EB. Without the ability to remove some of the older rams built in useless places, we wouldn’t have been able to take anything at all if we couldn’t zerg a door til it was destroyed.

Been killed plenty of times by DB and YB. Haven’t had any more corpse jumping/dancing than any other server that’s killed me. Every server has it’s tools.

I don’t care what titles you create, or how quickly people can get them, as long as there is an option for me to turn off all titles (mine, friendlies, hostiles) in the game.

Had free transfers for months. Numbers don’t even out…people just bandwagon to winning servers.

Winner up, loser down every week.

At worst servers will be 1 tier out of whack. It’ll keep matchups a bit varied and give winning and losing some real meaning.

most my wxp isnt from killing zergs.
it all comes from flipping keeps/towers as fast as possible with as little resistance as possible. it is only possible because of the tier my server is in and as soon as we move up/if we move up, this will no longer be possible.

also tagging isnt the best option. zerg busting the same group over and over again will reward u very little.
you need to rotate which servers zerg u want to hit and space it out so that when u do hit them you will be rewarded with 40+ wxp

Yep. That’s all the rank system has done….giant zergs of 40 to 60 people running around capping things as fast as they can with no desire to actually fight other players and zero consideration given to defense.

Not sure this rank system added anything except YAG (yet another grind).

The other day I realized something about WvW titles. First is that you don’t actually get a “title” that you can display, it’s a title the enemies see you with. Enemies can’t see who you are, you’re just an enemy with a different title after [some sever]. Your allies can’t see your title either because there’s no way to display it.

What I realized is this: no one in the game other than yourself knows that you have a specific title.

Serious props to Yaks tonight in DB BL, esp Me/CL (rest of guilds sorry to many tags lol).
Think I can say for all of BP that was some intense fights, 50+ BP vs 150’s Yaks ez.
Fights going back and forth, after we wiped one large group another 60+ take their place, till it became an ocean of red names and we slowly fall.

I’ve had some really good fights in WvWvW. Tower defenses that we dragged out for awhile against bigger numbers. Keep attacks that lasted what seemed forever because the group inside put up a monster defense. Tons of open field battles I’ve both won and lost with superior numbers and less numbers. All kinds of battles that were a ton of fun.

Killing 6 noobs with 2 of my friends doesn’t even begin to rank on the list of battles I would make public in an attempt to gain recognition. Might as well post about the time you killed 3 moose at once.

Again, you do what you gotta do, and if this was a big victory for you, by all means, celebrate. Just makes it look like you’ve done very little if this was a big deal for you.

Coron made a post two weeks ago saying how anyone saying T3 wasn’t competitive was talking out their butt and now he says we are no competition even tho their server is obviously falling. From Coron’s post back then I thought they must have a good attitude about WvW and I wrote a reply in that thread saying as such but I guess now we see tsym is actually a bunch of pansies who can’t handle losing.

Just some friendly advice: We all win some and lose some. Ignore the tier number and the score and just go out and have fun. I bet if you stick around on SoS for next week in T4 you’ll find you aren’t nearly so outnumbered and your guild would feel more accomplished and have more fun with better odds.

Goodness knows YB has been crushed by other servers and we’ve had our wvw population and coordination go up and down but the main people are still on Yaks and still fighting. The guilds and people that left us when we were down only benefited us in the long run. But then again, maybe SoS is better off without tsym, ;D

We’ll be fine. There’s probably a few more quitters left to leave, but such is life. The rest of us are doing what we can for now (looks at score and cringes…) and just waiting until we fall to an appropriate tier that matches our remaining population.

You still have a strong off hour WvW presence you won’t fall to far. Bring a good fight and guilds will find you. Trust me i know this to be true.

Oh yea. We have a good non-USA hour group, which definitely helps us. I’m not trying to make it sound like we’re doomed. We just can’t do tier 3 now at the moment. We’ll see what happens going forward. We’ll still do what we can and see where it goes.

Guild transfers, culling, skill/spell lag, [outmanned], rank wiping, lock transfers…

The dedicated players are starting to fade out…

The March 26 patch seems to be more geared towards adding little mini quests for guilds to do while the real battle is going on and they are losing towers left and right.

Poor decision after poor decision… This March 26th patch better come fully loaded or they’ll lose the last of what’s left.

The lack of people on SoS has very little to do with anything but all of the larger guilds jumping servers.

A great patch on the 26th is not going to revitalize SoS.

The in game GM’ing of this game is pretty bad compared to other games I’ve played. In other MMO’s I’ve had GM’s pop up next to me to go over an issue I was reporting.

I currently reside on SoR and was thinking about moving to different server. I’m not a fan of the server or being in tier one. I found that when I was on lower tier servers I enjoyed wvw more. Any suggestions that people might have for other servers that they find enjoyable for wvw would be great. I like a community, but I didn’t like the way SoR ran theirs. If I do move servers it will be out of tier one.

No alliance here. I am also very involved in Dragonbrand’s WvW community and there is no super-secret-illuminati-conspiracy-alliance with YB. SoS is suffering exactly what DB went through months ago . . . you can do one of two things – close your eyes and wait until it’s over, or fight hard and have fun.

Don’t blame the other servers (especially Dragonbrand) for the “hate” towards SoS. Blame the band-wagoners that shot SoS up to tier 1 destroying every tier in their wake, then leaving you high and dry.

If we could take it out on specific guilds, i’m pretty sure Dragonbrand would rather have it that way. But we can’t, so destroying SoS (as a server name – not the players) is the next best thing.

Know the history, Dragonbrand has been waiting for an SoS matchup for a long time.

The people who screwed us and we are mad at are gone so the next best thing is being mad at a server name! Rawr!

This same idea can be applied to anything.

Autoattack on 1 favors zergs. More people autoattacking means more damage,ergo, zergs are favored.

The only thing one I can buy is the AOE limit favoring the zerg. If 50 people stand on a spot and I nuke that spot, all 50 people should suck up the damage. That’s why it’s Area Of Effect.

Screen should turn black when you die.

You know if you recruit too many people, you’ll start to have lag issues again.

Main reason we come to SoS ma kitten ince TSYM gives us one hell of a fight. Crazy numbers too!

[Tsym] attacking Hills defended by [Me] has been a daily occurrence this week. My favorite thing about it is that each time it happens, the side that lost the previous encounter has obviously taken stock of what went wrong, and has something new up their sleeve to solve it. Keep up the good fights!

Those are the situations that make this all worthwhile. That fight last night at Hills was a ton of fun.

It seems the only thing we get out of doing WvWvW is bonuses to crafting/karma etc… The loot is awful, the gear is on par with PvE; however there is only 1 set which is recycled PvE skins and the cost is immense in comparison to PvE gear. And because anet decided to make JUMPING PUZZLES the best way to acquire honor that’s what people do instead of objectives.

Your Realm/Server doesnt “win” because everything is reset after a week, there’s no final battle or objective between realms, just endless musical objectives. Commander title is bought with Gold which is …surprise something acquired through PvE. Did it never run across anyones mind to have it cost honor points (10k or so would ensure they at least have an idea what to do)?

This may be a bad example but in Warhammer online your realm took objectives which gave bonuses for the eventual keep seige that if taken locked down the zone and pushed the war closer to the enemies fort. Once you took enough forts it opened the gates to the enemy factions home city which converted into a PvP raid (which was impossibly hard for the attacking faction). This was something that took tons of coordination between guilds and was something that was lucky to happen once a week. It felt epic like after so long something has finally came out of taking all these objectives and keeps.

WvWvW just doesnt have this feeling, fixing culling is a good step but if you dont change the entire mechanic of how it operates I dont see a reason as a PvP centric player to stray from SPvP.

I think it would be cool if my server won, someone from the servers we beat, would have to pay to have a maid come to my house and cleanup for 2 hours.

I’d definitely play a little harder to win something like that, and when my house was vacuumed and dusted and the dishes all put away, I would know that all those towers I defended and all those yaks I jacked were worth it.

I am also surprised by that. It’s a 1v1v1 setup. Every server gets 2v1’d, every server thinks they’re getting 2v1’d, and every server is particing in a 2v1. It’s the nature of the setup. I’ve stood and watched the other two servers kill each other over a tower while someone in my server’s map chat was complaining about us being 2v1’d.

It’s the way 1v1v1’s go. It’s surprising that people in March that have been playing for anywhere from 4 to 6 months do not know that by now.

I’m glad culling is being removed in general. I do think people who think this is a miracle fix for the thief issue are going to be disappointed.

Random ticks with undisclosed times between 5 and 15 minutes. If you don’t know when the tick is, it’s always worth fighting.

EDIT: I would rather have shorter ticks, though. I like the idea of 3 minute ticks.
