Enticing, inviting and deadly…

Meet Syn Slycere

Where do you get the skull shoulder armor from? What set does it come from?

It’s a shoulder skin from the Halloween event. You might still be able to get it, but, I’m not sure. If it IS still on the TP, it will probably be a LOT of gold lol

The skins are: Deathly Mantle (light), Deathly Shoulderpads(med), and Deathly Pauldrons(heavy)

Could we get some flashier daggers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pustulio.8207

We just had a flashy dagger added, the Molten Alliance daggers. Unfortunately instead of making amends and finally putting effort in to any weapon besides greatswords, ANet decided to deliver a big ‘screw-you’ to its fans and hide them behind one of the most greedy and asinine RNG drops ever to grace a non-F2P MMO.

I’m gonna HALF agree with you. I DO think the method of getting one of those skins was terrible. On the other hand, I’m GLAD they made it difficult for people to get. It ensures that the people who DO get it, appreciate it more.

I actually agree with this. Most of the dagger skins are either boring or ridiculous. And the legendary dagger isn’t even a dagger… its a blowtorch? I guess its not as bad as the pistol with tassles or the bow that shoots unicorns, but that’s not saying much.

I love my Incinerator. It makes a pretty cool sound when you throw it, it causes a cosmetic burning effect on whatever it is you’re attacking, the arm holding it is always on fire, and you leave a trail of fire when you run/walk. That’s a LOT cooler than some of the legendary weapons.

I feel the named exotic daggers are a little lacking and was wondering if a mists type dagger could be implemented? Don’t get me wrong Incinerator looks amazing, but its a little too far out of reach. I’m craving daggers with particle effects!

Is that dagger really worth 100g? (the other 100g dagger pretty much looks the same too)

Mystic Forge and RNG....maddening...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pustulio.8207

I’m fine with the RNG on the forge…as far as “Greens” into “Yellows”, goes. I forged 19 rares, just from the “Greens” that dropped, while farming the “Instigator” events in Southsun. I broke all of them down, using a “Black Lion Kit”, and got 36 ectos. Those sold for 7g 16s. The sigils, and runes added another 1g 2s. A little under 10g isn’t bad, for a couple hours of event farming.

Now as far as “Precursors”, and other “Legendary” related items go??…those have terrible RNG.

EDIT: After thinking about it, I feel that the “Clovers” aren’t THAT bad. At least you end up getting some T6 mats, or some lodestones if you fail

God, i hope they don’t. “Guild Halls” are something we definitely need, but, “houses” are just too much. They’re completely useless to at least one of the characters, as well. What use does a “Charr” have for a “house”??…they spend their whole lives training, and on the battlefield. That IS their “house”. The only way for “houses” to make sense for THEM, would be to make a giant “campsite”, that every legion returns to at the end of the day.

200g for pre-cursor attempts, what're you at?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pustulio.8207

Pustulio.8207

I’m about 70% done with my legendary. I only have “dusk”, and “gift of twilight” left. I’ve decided, that I’m just going to BUY “Dusk”. It’s the only 100% guaranteed method, and I would rather pay 600G+ for it, than run the risk of spending the same amount, just to get NOTHING.

I understand the items are supposed to be “rare”, but, they don’t need to be “Struck by lightning on a sunny cloudless day” rare. It seriously wouldn’t hurt to increase the drop rate, by 10%. Especially since they’re items the majority of the player base has NO USE FOR. If the majority of the players won’t even attempt to craft the other three items, there’s really no need to restrict them, like they WOULD.

Tanks being tankier, dedicated healing class

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pustulio.8207

Pustulio.8207

Why is this not in game? I know GW2’s signature is breaking the trinity, but why?

90% of MMO players like to DPS, 6% like to heal and 4% like to tank, in my expeirence.

Seems like a DPS/Support focused set up is best right? Wrong.

Tank players, love tanking and the pressure it gives them. Healers love to support and help push, push, push!

Those roles are denied in this awesome game.

What tanks provide: ORDER, this game gets very chaotic without some positioning of mobs and bosses. Who tanks help: DPS, so they can focus on doing damage and not constantly trying to support, to keep a fight alive.

What healers provide: Well, heals and buffs, obviously. Who healers help: DPS, so they can focus on doing damage and not constantly trying to support, to keep a fight alive.

Every class can stay the same really, just put good taunts and better defensive cooldowns for the warrior and guardian. Or any tanky class, necro maybe?

As for healing, I have healed/supported every MMO I have ever played and I love that role. Good MMO players carry and that’s what makes not only a good community but a good safetynet for anyone that’s new or just needs some more time to learn to be a BAMF. It’s a game, let us support our own community of players. We (tanks/healers) badly miss it. A light mage, cleric, some kind of spirit/whisp or a tree/druid , would be a good class to add for this role.

This will also make the game easier to develop. Stop looking at the disgusting void that WoW created in the MMO market. Focus on fun and community. WoW did it completely by accident and then kittened it all up.

Go back to those casual but hard roots. Easy to learn, but hard to master. If GW2 had raids and partial trinity, along with B2P and 98% of the current systems; you would have the massive audience you deserve Anet.

Just shut up, and eat your peas

Personaly, I don't think Dailies are a good idea

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pustulio.8207

Pustulio.8207

The only urge you’re feeling is just left over from previous games literally forcing you to log in or fall behind in stats.

It’s really not. I came from GW1 and the only dailies it ever had were Zaishen Quests, which were added four years into the game. I had played through three campaigns and an expansion without ever needing or wanting a daily. When they were added they could only buy you a special storage bag (which could be traded) and a bunch of cosmetic stuff. Nothing like more powerful gear.

I didn’t come from a game which had dailies that force you to log in or fall behind in stats and I still feel pressure to get all my dailies done. Dailies aren’t fun, they were never intended to be. They were just intended to get people to log into the game whether it’s fun or not.

I honestly don’t think there are that many people who think gathering 20 items is fun and the ones who do would probably be doing it whether it was a daily or not. It’s bad game design, but it helps ArenaNet push one of their primary goals, increasing the daily log in metrics and enforcing a hard cap on grind progression. This is what happens when developers lose their direction and integrity and get too focused on metrics. Instead of thinking “how can we make this game more fun and foster engaging and entertaining content” they begin thinking “how can we get players to play as consistently as possible for as long as possible”. Originally ArenaNet intended to create a fun game where fun was the only motivation you needed to play it. Now they are pushing the “Daily” agenda with grind progression and calendar gating to keep their numbers as high as possible and artificially extend content, not through playability and enjoyment, but through grind and daily limitations.

You should look up integrity in the dictionary, I’m not sure it means what you think it means.

Anet is giving people who are casual a chance to get stuff too. Those so fixated on the minor stat increase will never see it as just that, a minor stat increase. It’s only a big deal in your mind.

^THIS!!….not that the people he’s talking to will agree (or understand) it. They may even post something along the lines of:

" With “Ascended Gear”, you get 8% in BLAH BLAH BLAH, which gives you a 1000 more BLAH BLEH BLARG, so it’s actually a HUGE increase"

Personaly, I don't think Dailies are a good idea

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pustulio.8207

Pustulio.8207

Dailies are horrible. In every game. The fastest way to make a game go from fun to a job…is adding dailies. And if you add a daily that rewards a currency type that is attainable in no other way…it’s just plain kitten poor design.

Anything that forces players to feel like the MUST log in DAILY or fall behind on their quest for whatever they want is terrible. When I get home from a long day at work, finish dinner, put the kid to bed, and feel like kicking back and watching a little TV or reading a book before bed…but suddenly remember “Oh Crap, I have to log in and get my daily for that stupid Laurel”…I get overcome with a desire to punch someone. Well, ok, not overcome :-)…but seriously, who thinks this is a reasonable way to treat the player base?

I’m sorry…that came out more rant-like than I intended…but the whole idea of dailies just makes me angry.

Give 30 laurels or 40 laurels or whatever you want for the monthly and just give gold and exp and karma for the stupid dailies already. Or 7 for weeklies that can be finished in a single play session.

Dailies. Are. Poor. Design.

/rant off

TL:DR I want the things that cost “Laurels”, but, i don’t wanna work very hard to get them. I know it’s easy, but, I wanna watch TV. Please just give them to me, or, I’ll get very angry, and punch my kids, after I put them to bed. And don’t you dare tell me, that I made the decision to “need” what the laurels get me, I already KNOW that >:(

PS. I want more “gold”, “karma”, and “exp.”, too. As stated above, I may punch my kids, if I don’t get it.. This is your only warning.

My ranger typically has no MF whatsoever and it still finds rares on a regular basis.

I added 22% MF with a consumable and the whole duration all I got was junk, 1 rare, and copper and a few blues. No greens at all. This was during a Fractals run and I can tell you , same difficulty level without any MF would yield much better loot.

“MF” doesn’t work the way a lot of people think it does. Everyone starts out at “100% MF”. If at 100%, an exotic has a 1% chance to drop, then, at 200%, that exotic has a 2% chance to drop. You adding 22%, made such a miniscule increase, that you wouldn’t even notice.

If you want to see a cosmetic cash shop done right, look at Aion. Since they went FTP they have been deluging players with clothes, vanity pets, housing furniture, and various sparklies.

The game play is still pretty bad, and no contest to GW2. But ANet could learn a few things on how to get players to happily max out their credit cards for meaningless digital shinies.

I wanted to play “Aion” again. It was pretty fun…kinda. The problem was that NCsoft didn’t bother to finish the job on the “3.0” release. The files were incomplete, and they didn’t bother to respond to the people that pointed it out. That’s a korean company for you, though. It’s sad that “A-net” is associated with them

Switching to 64-bit OS solves problems!

in Players Helping Players

Pustulio.8207

Agreed. Upgrading your “Ram”, will do wonders for your game quality. And, oddly enough, the performance gain will far outweigh the price you pay.

What kind of performance increases are we talking about? Like what kind of issues will be fixed?

Namely – will fps or ‘choppiness’ improve noticeably?

I also only have 4gb of Ram but am hesitant to get 4 more as I’ve heard claims like this in the past – but after adding more Ram I didn’t notice any difference…

It’s hard to put into simple terms, but, I’ll try. Say your computer has 4gb of “ram”, and, at all times, your computer is running 3gb worth of programs. If you we’re to buy a game, that requires 2gb to run, your computer will have to start "file swapping " to compensate for the lack of sufficient “ram”. This will slow down your system to a crawl, or worse (you will notice it a lot during loading screens).

If you upgrade to 8gb, everything can be loaded into the “ram”, at the same time. You won’t have to worry about “file swapping”. That will translate into noticeable improvements in loading speeds, choppiness, etc.

It’s a little more complex than that, but, it’s the basic idea.
