Guys, they clearly said to post feedback when the actual threads open, so why do you keep posting it here?
1. Ranger
2. Thief (seriously, P/P)
3. Engineer
Hi, I turned into a casual player recently (played a lot during the summer) and melee obviously requires more skill than ranged, and I’m a bit rusty atm, so I’m thinking about going P/P, but I’m worried about people kicking me because I suck or something.
Are there any viable P/P builds that don’t suck?
I noticed there is a serious lack of armor variety (most noticeable medium armor), you can’t really tell professions based on armor only. Was there any talk about introducing profession based armor? Could be legendary or something hard to obtain, but it would be nice to represent my profession with armor, too.
For example, Thief lacks a really Thief-like armor, so something like this would be welcome (without the cape of course, capes get sucked into jet turbines)
precursor building (and corresponding additional legendary items)
Does this mean current legendaries will NOT get precursor building?
This has to be a troll. First he teases us “he” has an unique build that is very viable in PVE, he just needs to “test” it. Then he comes back and posts a standard build that is known since release. Just great.
I’m experimenting a lot with my thief, I don’t really like the DA tree, so I don’t run the cookie cutter build. I really like 15 in acrobatics, I did some experiments with multiple builds.

I like this one because it offers a lot of utility (fury+might+swiftness+vigor on steal, or 5% more damage instead of vigor), can go ricochet if I want to go pistols, Lead Attacks is not so convincing though.

Almost the same, I gain vitality and condition duration, but I lose some versatility, I usually go extra initiative regen in the acrobatics tree. Not sure about Fluid strikes, I usually have my endurance full thanks to the acro tree.
0/30/25/15/0
This is my current experimental build, the might on stealth is good but not as good as the other 25 bonuses imo, the condi removal and bonus initiative is nice. The first thing I noticed is I crit a LOT less, because I don’t have access to Fury. (unless there are warriors in my group)
So, what are your opinions on a good balanced survival/damage build with some versatility if needed? Is there someone who ran the math on these builds, especially Fluid Strikes vs. Lead Attacks?
Teq’s fears now last seemingly 5-8 seconds, if you stun break them, you are just feared immediately again. Jormag’s fears are also now longer and more frequent.
This is the main problem that makes it so annoying. But yeah I agree fear is a very bad mechanic
75% on Desolation, succeeded the Laser event too, then the timer ran out.
Nothing good, 1 green and 2.5k karma
This, and 11 silver
I’d like this too, not sure if its possible technically, but it would be great, I love the fluidity of the thief. Not long ago I tried playing my ranger with a sword, the autoattack on it is just horrible for my playstyle, it keeps you locked in place, I could not get used to it.
After 500+ hours of playing the game (almost all of it PVE), I entered Arah explorable for the first time yesterday, and Gigantus Lupicus instantly became one of my favourite boss fights.
He has multiple phases with skills that have really good tells (maybe projectile shot is a little too fast, maybe im just inexperienced), his arena is quite big which is good for mobility, he is huge so he really feels like a boss. I loved that fight in both paths I played.
Boss fights I like:
Liadri – awesome boss with great mechanics, may be overwhelming for some, too bad about the performance issues and some technical bugs.
Tribune Burntclaw – I find this boss pretty fun with clear mechanics, great to learn kiting
The Iron Forgeman – I like big bosses with some enviromnent type mechanics, he’s one of them.
Searing Effigy – I’d say this is one of the best fights to learn for a new player, it has conditions, knockback, direct damage, dont stand in circle zones, specific tell for the pink flames, it’s great.
Bosses I don’t like:
Pretty much every nightmare tree in TA, they just feel like a chore.
Sylvari (TA) or other small bosses – they get covered up with effects, I can’t see where they’re facing or what attack is going to happen soon, makes me play very passive or staying at range. An option to tone down effects would be welcome.
I really hope the game gets more bosses with great mechanics, be it solo, group or world content.
I want this face now! (any ETA on it? :P). Ideas like these keep me playing Sylvari. I just wish cultural armor wasn’t tied to skin color, breaks a lot of cool skin combinations
Thanks ANet for the great stream.
When the golem begins to transform I get a bad FPS drop (to 3-5 FPS) for a few seconds, it happens on my PC and laptop, too. Can post more details and specs if needed.
Game Update Notes – September 17, 2013
Fake Patch Notes:
————————-Fire Elemental: Will now cause your fps to drop below 5 and will make this fight nearly impossible. If somehow players manage to slay this creature, it will now reward each players with a title: “My Pc is better than yours!” Upon failing, it will award the title: “Buy a better pc”
Actually this is always happening on both of my machines. When the golem transforms, i get 3-5 FPS for a few seconds.
To get my level 400 to 500 artificer I have to spend ~200 gold??!!?!!??!?!
200gold for a weapon?!!!??!?!?
How about when ascended armors are out? Prolly 800 gold?!!??!?!??!?!
WTF!
You can collect everything you need to craft. I spent 10 gold going from 400 to 500. It’s easier than you think, even better if you have alts.
Here’s a little performance guide based on my experience with different setups, maybe it will help some of you.
Main PC: AMD Phenom II X6 3.5GHz, 8GB RAM, Radeon 6870 1GB, 7200Rpm HDD
Things i dont list dont affect performance much, those are at maximum:
1920×1080 fullscreen windowed – for easier alt tabbing
Antialliasing OFF – i personally dont like the blur it applies, minimal performance hit
Reflections NONE – barely noticeable, big performance hit
Render Sampling – NATIVE
Shadows – MEDIUM, if you have a weaker video card set to low or none.
Shaders HIGH – makes the game very pretty, heavy hit on the graphics card, lower if you have problems
And now the biggest hit on CPU, which most of you experience in zergs and wvw:
Character Model Limit, Character Model Quality – try switching it around in zergs and notice the performance. Example: Dwayna today with 60+ people, both settings at medium i get 15 FPS, both settings at lowest i get relatively smooth 25+ FPS. I keep it at medium everywhere except zergs, cant expect more from an AMD CPU.
Midrange laptop: i5 ivy bridge at 3230M at 2.6Ghz, 4GB RAM, GeForce 650M, 5400 Rpm HDD (makes loading times much longer than the 7200 rpm)
Things I don’t list don’t affect performance much but I keep them at medium:
1920×1080 fullscreen windowed – for easier alt tabbing
Antialliasing OFF – same as above
Reflections NONE – seriously, avoid this
Render Sampling – NATIVE
Shadows LOW – can’t handle the dynamic shadows medium settings apply
Shaders MEDIUM – works pretty well, sometimes it’s a good idea to set to low but that makes the game ugly
Character Model Limit and Quality at Low, Lowest in zergs.
I would also like an estimate for this, I don’t want to waste weeks farming/crafting stuff I won’t even need for legendaries. At least say that the two main gifts current legendaries need (Gift of mastery, Gift of fortune) will be usable on new legendaries.
75 boxes * 7 Silver = 12.75 gold
What? That’s a little bit more than 5 gold mate.
Still, the ember farm is on average at least 10gold/hour if you count crafting material drops, more if you get lucky with drops. However, it takes extreme dedication to farm something mindlessly for hours, which an average player does not have.
Any ETA on the update? I have a ton of materials saved but I’m too scared to sell them or craft something because of the changes being made.
Should I start crafting some Gifts right now or will they change too along with the precursor obtaining?
I want to work towards Incinerator or maybe the new Legendary dagger but I’m scared the stuff I craft will be useless once the update hits.
Yep, my sylvari is blue and I can’t change a part of the Nightmare Breastplate (stays blue), I’m not sure why is it like this. Would like a response as to why is it like this.
Most of the time I used full berserker equip and build with little to no survivability (15 in acrobatics)
Tier 1
Halmi Hammerfell – easy, just dodge the big blow
Doobroosh – CnD+Backstab 2 times, retreat, repeat. If you want the achievement then p/p + thieves guild, or p/d condition build + thieves guild
Windcaller Kieldia – take haste, thieves guild, precision and power signets, burst her almost instantly, easily doable with the burning gambit for the achievement
Suriel the Blazing Light – nothing much to say, it’s more about learning what to do, burst her when she’s vulnerable
Tier 2
Tyre Ragemaw – d/d burst, evade
Masticus – collect orbs, easily doable with d/d or p/d condition build (bleeds do 1k+ damage per tick with enough stacks of bloodlust)
Salazan – p/p, stay in fire aoe, strafe the attacks and unload on him
The crew of the pirate ship Ravenous – Captain-melee guy-healer-ranged guy
This is more about luck, use steal on the captain, if you got the invulnerability bottle you won, use it when things get messy. Thieves guild for elite
Tier 3
Subject 7 – extreme burst needed here, haste, thieves guild, kill him before he has a chance to heal. Took me around 8 seconds.
Deadeye Dunwell- d/d, avoid his traps and laser, burst him
Strugar and Chomper – Get S/P, 15 traits in trickery (more initiative), spam the aoe blind and autoattack, haste and thieves guild to speed it up a little. You can be stationary all the time, ignore the meat. – Credit to MegiddoZO at Reddit
Liadri the Concealing Dark – Hardest fight but doable (don’t be surprised at 20+ tries), I used this build http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1jtwik/beating_liadri_on_thief/
AMD X4 960T unlocked to a X6 OC’d to 3.5 Ghz
8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz RAM
Sapphire 6870 1GB
12.8 Driver.
Game runs OK, except when there’s a crowd, or I start to turn my camera rapidly. Basicly everytime my CPU has to work hard I get 20-25 FPS at best in WvW battles or huge dragon events. Doesn’t matter what settings I play on, they maybe help 5 FPS. Tried with the basic 4 cores and no overclock, it’s even worse.
