I was just browsing with no intent of logging in, but when I saw this post, I had to –
I bet the script would be easy to write using an assigned key and the name of the window you are trying to bring to the front -
my 2 cents – same re-hashed crap with different names, I mean really? put out fires with water buckets? hello queensdale first heart… stupid pointless mounts… been playing since 2004, I’m done, game will never be as fun as gw1 was. Maybe when it goes down to $10 I’ll buy it.
I am not complaining, I am describing what deters me from doing raids, and probably others also.
tbh I don’t want someone who has done it to train me, I don’t like being told what to do. But I don’t see any other way of learning how to do raids. I would prefer to play the game, to learn to play the game, independently. Not do research on the latest cookie cutter build and copy paste my play style from a guildwars obsessive with a website.
and now that I have spent my weekend, not playing guild wars, but instead trying to find non kitten non-elitist websites that actually explain why I can’t play my Necro, but instead an Engineer. That also don’t contradict the previous website I just read.
thank you for the links, I will check them out
so, I spent all day today trying to figure out how to get into a raid. It was quite a learning experience.
First I went to the staging area and asked how I do I do a raid, never having done one before, I was told to join a training group in the LFG. so I did that, and was very quickly kicked for not knowing “rotation” or my skills. So much for a training run. That was disheartening and I almost logged out with some choice expletives. But I asked again in map chat. How do I train for a raid, if the training group expects me to know everything already? I was told read up on it on the internet, or/and join a Raid Guild.
Ok. where is the list of Raid Guilds? I then went to google, typed in “spirit vale walk through” found a couple youtube videos. Watched the fight although I couldn’t see anyone’s skills except the pov. and he was an Engi. I can’t play Engi. Ok, so now I know, get into the green circle. Went to dulfy’s website, looked at her guide. Didn’t see anything about skills there either. Just classes. I feel like I am reading shakespear, I kinda get the idea of what is written, but the sentence structure seems off, and alot of the words don’t make sense. Maybe I am just too stupid to do raids. I do have a BS though…
Ok, so it’s like 9 pacific time now and if I went back into the raid staging area, I still wouldn’t beable to answer the question the so called training raid asked me. What is my rotation?
Force players to do research on the internet before they can even attempt to fight them. Simultaneously encouraging players to insult the player who is new to raids.
I don’t have time for this, but I am trying.
I think raids need less deterrents, and more support from the game itself to get people into it. The content can still be hard.
OK, what sequence of numbers must I push, in order to convince 9 other players to allow me the honor of doing a raid with them?
HOT sucks, I know this, because I don’t play it the way I played the original game. If it didn’t suck. I would be done with all it’s content by now.
Anyone in a small guild, wish they could connect with other small guilds, to get Guild Missions done?
I think it would help me out alot if there were a Tab on the LFG for Guild Missions, and sub sections on each mission.
theres not gonna be anyone around to get hit by the new siege,
anet logic, “if we give them rewards, they’ll try to get them” “well we don’t want that, take them away”
They should just remove all blue/green weapons from the game and give every foe its own unique currency to drop, that is account bound and non-tradable, and spendable on nothing useful
If I open my Hero panel, I can select any of the menus, except if I select the Achievement panel menu, the game will crash, consistently and repeatedly.
I already ran “repair” on my dat file. so… yah…. any chance this will be fixed?
if you will not allow me to use both the games and expacs that I bought- you need to refund me the $100. I have been playing duo since 2005 and I will not play any other way. This is horsecrap.
I wish, I wish…. I could claim a camp for the 20 supply, without screwing over my guild’ees who just took a keep and claimed it. Please anet make it possible to claim 1 of each type, camp, tower, keep. Not just 1 of any on the whole map.
Our guild has a ton of war room buffs, but what good are they if only 10 people out of a 500 person guild can benefit from them. I’m trying to say.
We are in more than one place at once, working on different aspects of the WvW.
It would be nice to be able to claim a camp without tearing down a keep.
You people are silly :P
Why would anet waste their time mediating a dispute between two players who have legitimate access to a game. If they’re not going to take sides in a he said, she said argument. then its pointless to put that into the eula in the first place.
More on topic.
the starting areas don’t seem to be anything at all like the expansion area. I don’t even think the gameplay is the same.
Not sure how that’s going to help me understand. Oh well, it looked cool, maybe my six year old will have fun screwin around with it
I was just given this game from my brother, because he was fed up with it. And I am completely lost. I’ve got level 80 characters, and tons of gear. Now what? I try to run thru Verdant Brink, but there doesn’t seem to be any objective? People have said read dulfy’s guides, but everytime I figure out where I need to go, its the wrong time to go there, I can’t play this game 24hrs a day, maybe 2 hours a day. What is the point? I just don’t understand…
esports takes priority over gw2 casual players, anet is continuing to spiral into non-existence……
Its Posts like this one.
I don’t have expac.
I log in and see many aspects of the game that I bought 3 years ago, have been removed and re branded with a new price tag, Higher than what I paid the first time.
Before the expac, my small guild could earn enough influence running in WvW to maintain some of the buffs, claiming camps for supply +5 bonus etc.
Now my small guild has been gutted, serving no purpose but as a place holder while I rep a larger guild -
I really hope this company does an about face,
Hey just go steal some stuff from guildwars 1, that game was amazingly fun to play.
Even solo players can gain Favor; it’s just slow-going. Thus, you can create a personal guild bank, if you so desire.
How can a solo player gain favor?
ya, I think you’re right, I will wait to see if the expac goes down in price on black Friday, and I will also see if the reviews start to paint the game in a better light.
and no, you may not have my mats. I ’ll most likely send them to someone with an open mind like party buddy, or Vikkela, this game needs more people like that.
You shouldn’t need convincing on buying the expansion, you’ll either buy it or you won’t…any product that needs to convince me I need it…will be a complete waste of my time and I won’t bother with it…it’s as simple as that.
So you agree I shouldn’t buy it either?
‘you’ in this case is the reality of players, anet, reviewers. But people like you Randulf, you only respond to belittle, and have nothing positive to say about the game.
Which in effect is the same as saying ’don’t bother buying it’
(edited by Reanne.5462)
Why is it so hard for you to convince me I should buy this ‘Expac’? I see paragraphs on what is wrong with the game, and short simple sentences stating ’ gliders are fun’ or ’it’s pretty’.
I used to take for granted (granite) that I would buy whatever Guildwars came out, but now, tell me wtf happened?
I don’t even have the expansion, but I have to deal with all the bullkitten updates and —-————————————edit so I don’t get banned———————————————— Devs.
ok, so playing the game no longer benefits a guild, only doing Guild Missions benefits the guild. Events, dungeons, wvw have all become irrelevant for individuals.
I do not have Heart of thorns, and am extremely reluctant to waste 50$ on it.
I have a 2 man guild that prior to the update could still earn influence and although it took longer could still acquire upgrades.
Specifically the Art of War buffs to increase supply carrying capacity.
but now, I can not for the life of me figure out how to get any upgrade let alone the specific one I want. I went to the Initiative Representative, but the NPCs there don’t give any information on what I don’t already have. Inside the building is just a bunch or unnamed npcs that don’t respond.
I don’t care about missions, I only have 2 people. Wiki is worthless, still has old information.
What is a ’Early Personal Story"?
I just started a new character, a stupid charr, which I never wanted to play, I’ve been playing for 3 years now… but I want the achieves from that story line,
I have played this character for 4 hours 40 min across 1 day. Having completed the personal story to just before the Level 40 “Setting the Stage”.
Are you telling me that because I am choosing to play this character I will be punished. That I will not receive a black lion key after finishing this part of the Personal Story?
If this is true, that is bullkitten, and black lion keys should be limited to 1 per day, not 1 per week.
What is a ’Early Personal Story"?
FIXED. Ok. so the problem had nothing to do with my GPU at all, if anyone else is going crazy over this, make sure your CPU is cooling correctly. run a benchmark on it as well as your GPU.
My CPU Heat sink had come loose and it was thermal throttling me down to 1.7Mhz, when it was supposed to be running at 3.1Mhz
If reinstalling the game does not fix it, then obviously the problem is not the game, but something external, like video card drivers.
That is not necessarily true, if the game itself doesn’t use your pc’s drivers correctly, and there are dropped frames. If one day my game runs fine, then they update it, and it no longer works fine anymore, no matter how many times I reinstall the broken game, it won’t work. But we will see, I bought myself a new SSD C drive, Clean install of Windows 10, and all updated drivers.
If the game still won’t play above 20fps, I guess I’m done trying to play gw2.
i found the solution. it is the AMD cpu problem
i install the window hotfix and restart my pc. now my gw2 back to normal.
So my problem isn’t fixed.. and I wonder why ‘Support’ never mentioned that page to me?
I think you are describing the fps issue I am having… something is wrong with this game.
This is not resolved,
I downgraded my OS back to WIN 8.1 and my FPS is exactly the same crap, I run like a horse with 3 legs… I think this is a server side problem. And I wish anet would fix it. All other graphics on my PC run fine.
my fps has gone to hell… lucky to get 20
Processor Intel® Core™ i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz
Speed 3.1 GHz
Video Card AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
Dedicated Memory 2.0 GB
Total Memory 4.0 GB
Memory 20 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10240), 64-bit
(edited by Reanne.5462)
I logged in this morning before work, and the game ran fine, I get home from work, and at the lowest graphics setting I get 5 fps,
Everything on my PC runs fine, only gw2 won’t play. Its only using 300mb of memory, and 8% of my CPU and yet I can’t get above 5 fps.
so if someone could magically fix this thru the forums, Id appreciate it, there is no option in game to report this kind of bug, and Support is a waste of time. I know you don’t care, but it makes me feel better to post this here, especially since I won’t be logging into gw2 tonight it seems.
ok… so before I logged in on any of my accounts, I went to the home page guildwars2.com and didn’t see anywhere to log in. In my experience log in links are usually in plain site in the top left or right of a webpage, not hidden in a drop down menu. I admit, I didn’t take the time to look under each menu option, but instead went to Forum, where the log in link is easily found. There was no notice on the forum stating I could not log in with my f2p account, but when I tried all I got was a vague error code. It wasn’t until I logged in with my Paid account that I got the Notification in the Red box, stating Players couldn’t use the forum with a F2P account. I am extrapolating that if I had logged into my f2p account from the main page, instead of the forum, and then went to forum, I would have been given the message stating I could not post.
that was a very long winded way of saying what I had tried to say the first time :P
f2p players can’t read the notice that they are not allowed to enter forum. All they get is an error, and a stupid code…
The only way to log into your account is from the Forum Page!
you are predictable.
the only reason the game is loading slow, is because anet is not providing the bandwidth. I know enough about my computer, and my connection to recognize that. There is nothing wrong with my client, and there is nothing wrong with my connection. and I am not talking about the stupid New LA video. I am talking about just logging in.
I would post a video of me trying to load in to LA, but none of you would take the time to watch it all the way to the end.
And yet, I am supposed to watch it every time I try to play this game.
and don’t tell me to put in a bug report, tell anet to stop sacrificing the core game for their new pet project.
It isn’t about you, you know that there is a difference between this and that because you are the one suggesting the system. However, does the people who are not aware of this is a feature will know what all of these are?
Not sure what you mean.
That is what happening to megaserver, server identity is questionable, people don’t even know what servers they are from or they care enough to find out. If you put this multi chat thingy, there will be more people confused about guilds and making this whole game becoming increasingly complicated.
I am not suggesting they remove guild chat, or any of the other chats, I am only suggesting they add the ability to click the check box to see what the alliance is chatting about, or in the case of WvW specific implementation, it would be an additional chat box that a guild member could check to see the conversation in WvW.
Like other mentioned, alliance is a more sensible approach. There is guild identity and also alliance identity. If the reason you suggesting this is because you want to chat with your guild of real life friends, I think a group chat feature is a better suggestion.
Right now Contemporary Heroes and Charter Vanguard are in a loose alliance. I have confidence that our guild leaders could come up with a adequate name for our alliance, as well I know they would love a way to communicate/organize events together. Neither of our guilds is going to give up its identity, but wouldn’t Alliance Missions be cool? As far as chatting with real life friends, I am more interesting in convenience, and coordination, not gossiping and stories around the water cooler. people can go to FB for that.
If the reason you suggesting this is because you can’t get people to rep your guilds then maybe think of removing the people who didn’t rep for long, they not going to rep anyway. Or think about adapting 100% rep but 100% rep only work for guilds that attempt to do everything literally.
I am seeking a solution that does not require people to rep 100% of the time. Personally I like to rep my storage guild to gain influence, but this means I am cut off from the guild that has the people I play with. I know there are people who like to WvW but they have to make a choice which guild to rep while doing that. A guild should not be ‘All or nothing’ especially since there are so many different types of game play. A person usually does not ‘just do’ WvW, or ‘just do’ dungeons, Do we really want segregation? This is a MMORPG, we should be playing together.
Right now the problem is not enough people chatting, lets not give up on fixing this because of a fear that more people will be talking with each other.
WvW only allows what… 80 people in a BL? I don’t think we have to worry about 5000 people all talking at the same time. How many people are even on a Server? ( anet! tell me!) How could there be 5000 people on a server and only 300 are allowed into wvw?
Remember that as it is now, you may be in a guild of 500 people, but only 100 of them are representing at any given moment, having the alliance chat isn’t going to add 500 more people to the chat for each guild, its just going to allow the current 500 people to talk with each other, no matter which guild they’re in.
A guild may allow 500 players max, but those 500 players are potentially spread out across 5 guilds.
There is no good reason to not add features, that promote Guild cohesion and game play.
This guild has a strong core, and is still growing, 370+ members,
Consistent guild events/missions and a strong WvW presence. We’re having fun, come join us!
when I turn my volume up, my car goes Bump. C’mon Miss Gray, I know you read all my posts. Can we get some feed back?
I just don’t see any way for a guild to satisfy all the play styles of its members, unless it gets huge. In your 500 man guild, how many are online at 1 time? 10% 50 people? more?
Guild identity would be determined by those players that chose to rep that guild.
I know that the guild I am in, would not lose its identity if we could chat with members who were currently repping their WvW guilds. But I also know we would love to have a bigger WvW presence. Are we more interested in the name of our guild being attached to a large number of people, or just having people easily interacting with each other regardless of the guild they rep? As long as the only guilds in the network are people who commonly play together,
I don’t think the guilds involved would lose their identity.
Would your guild be lost if you could chat with your friends from other guilds while also chatting with your guildmates? Without using map chat?
A problem has existed in this game since day one, everyone has experienced it.
A Guild can not cater to all the play styles and playing locations of its members.
A 30 man guild may have 10 people online at one time, and 3 of them are in pvp, 3 are doing hearts/mapping and 4 are in WvW as an example. Another member logs on and wants to do a dungeon, but no one is available , so he goes to LFG, or worst case, seeks a different guild where people may be more interested in dungeons. There are so many opportunities for this situation to occur, it is difficult for a guild to stay a cohesive unit. And imho we want guilds to be cohesive units.
Now there are guilds that have survived through this problem, Because they have a strong core, and players willing to stick with the guild, while joining other guilds to have access to a player base for their individual preference of game mode. (pve, pvp, wvw etc.)
But the problem still persists.
How do you get the players in your guild to all rep 1 guild and play together.
Impossible I know.
So what can be done to get players who may be repping separate guilds to still feel like they are still under the same umbrella?
One thing that I would like to see is a multi-guild chat option. I think this would require a type of guild alliance system though, where the chat would only show if the two guilds were aligned. I recognize that the many combinations of guilds that are involved would make chat confusing, so it would require a separate chat box for people to talk in outside of the specific guild chat.
Another thought on this same concept would be, Chat boxes that are area specific.
WvW chat for example, where everyone in a guild, whether representing or not, can click the WvW chat and people who are in WvW would be connected through it. This would not be the same as ‘Team’ or ‘map’ in a BL, but would go across borderlands and would not include players outside the ‘Network’ .
The Network could be created automatically using the guilds of each online player, Or it could be created by the guild leaders of sister guilds.
Does anyone have any constructive input on how we can get people feeling as though they are playing with their guildees, even when not repping that specific guild?
What is the point of the current leaderboard?

Welcome to the game new players – The Illustrious Achiever title is not currently possible to get. and you will always be 2000 points behind the leader, even if you sell your soul to the game, quit your job, and isolate yourself from your loved ones.
Is it too late then, is everyone sufficiently apathetic to the whole leaderboard idea, that no one cares?
(edited by Reanne.5462)
I don’t know what is causing this, but it seems to only happens in PvP.
When I try to change the camera angle by holding down right mouse button and dragging to change angle, the screen moves a little bit, then the mouse cursor just travels across the screen without changing my field of view. If it were working correctly the mouse arrow would stay at the place where I pressed down the right mouse button. I end up getting killed because I can’t turn around to face my enemy, and I can’t attack facing the wrong direction.
I have tried to replicate this in the waiting area, and in PVE, but everything works fine, until I am in a direct fight in PvP.
It feels like something is taking my mouse button out of the pressed state.
You could display your “Champion of the Gods” title.
Oh? you don’t have that one?, you’re no vet then. sry
-We get guild halls = I’ve heard that promise before, should’ve already had them
I’m sorry when did you hear the guild hall promise before? Or even mention of it.
To my knowledge, Guild Halls have been mentioned prior to this annoucement by Anet exactly once, by Martin Kerstein on guru before there was a Guild Wars 2 forums.
He said that player housing would likely come with guild halls in the first expansion. That’s all that’s ever been said to my knowledge.
I don’t mind complaining, but you should get your facts straight when you do. Anet has never promised us Guild Halls. It was never in the feature list. It was never a promise we heard before.
OK, maybe ‘promise’ was too strong a word, but after guild halls being an intricate part of GW1, I was not alone in my assumption, and expectation that they would be in this game.
Also, let me point out a couple things.
1. If guild halls are only for people who buy the expansion, there will be a riot of upset players. (seriously, I can’t go to my own guilds guild hall?)
2. If the WvW map is only for people who buy the expansion, that makes no sense either, do to it splitting up guilds that do WvW together, and would break the WvW experience of those without the expansion.
3. There are already more skins than any player could possibly use, anet has spit out 100’s of new skins for the Gem store, so don’t tell me they needed an expansion to release more skins.
4. If the flying mechanic will work anywhere on the continent, then I will concede that point, but if it only works in one area, like the crystals in DT, then I cry foul.
5. When the new skills are released, will players w/o the expansion not receive the new skills, therefor making that character inferior to people with the expansion? In PvP/WvW, will a chronomancer destroy a necro that didn’t buy the expansion?
(for the record, I’m not complaining, I am just exploring the idea whether the expac will be much better than SW)
(edited by Reanne.5462)
If I am spoiled, it is only because gw1 spoiled me.
I want stuff to do in a game, not pretty pictures to look at. And so far Anet has not convinced me that HoT will be worth my time, has not convinced me it will be fun, but rather that it will just be a piece of artwork to buy and hang on my desktop.
The only other expansion that was released was eye of the north, and I seriously doubt HoT will be that big, and involved.
How is Hall of Monuments fix coming btw…
-We get a specialization for each class = new skills
-We get a new class = new skills
-We get new legendaries = not content
-We get craftable precursors not content
-We get guild halls = I’ve heard that promise before, should’ve already had them
-We get a new PvP map = Don’t need an expansion to have a PvP map
-We get a new borderlands = blah
-We get PvE rewards based on the map = rewards are not content
