How to Guild rep when it changes server?

sounds like your guild banks are more important to you than the guild you’re in, I don’t think anet is gonna give you a uhaul to move your stuff over, your gonna have leave it all behind, just like the guild that switched servers did.

Sorry excuse for content.

Why do you base the quality of the game by its price? and not its content? A living breathing world should not get boring after living it once, when you reincarnate there should be new things to do and learn.

If the Living story was less of a sideshow, and actually affected the world, I might say bring on more. as it is only a distraction from the absence of anything else to do in the game, I think Anet should put some more effort into longer chains of events into the open world. And less instant gratification for zergs achievement point farming and worthless trophy drops.

Reanne.5462

Will you really stick around with this game until July?
To me this game has been stagnant for awhile now, (Feel free to read my earlier posts). There is no sense of progress, no sense of accomplishment, Champ farming has been done to a point of insanity, PVE is a big pretty picture, but you can only stare at the one (non-changing) piece of art for so long before it becomes plain and boring. What do you even do more than once in this game, that you look forward to doing, as opposed to doing it because it’s the only way to get loot? ( rofl… loot…)

Imagine playing a game of checkers, where 2 seconds after you jump your opponents piece, it rematerializes on the board. Both you and your opponent end up just moving pieces around in eternal limbo. ( oh here, have a back piece skin )

I created a goal of my own, to accumulate enough influence to build a Deep Cave for my guild. I wonder what I will put into it…. maybe they will make ascended mats non-account bound so I can offload that worthless crap.

What will you do until Anet decides to give us a game to play?

So what if when you used your skill bar efficiently, such as when you use a finisher combined with another players… err whats that called.. When you do a successful combination attack with another player, you get a temporary magic find buff? 5 minutes of +10% or something. And I don’t mean shooting an arrow through an eles ring of fire. hmm.. maybe someone who actually knows how the skills work together should have wrote this post…

hitting 1 repeatedly == no mf boost on kill
doing what ever those 2 guys did, to kill me in 3 seconds in wvw causes MF% buff

Magicfind % are Meaningless (2nd try)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Reanne.5462

Reanne.5462

10% of the original chance, BTW. Let’s say a particular item has a 1% chance of dropping, having 100% magic find means that your chance to get that item is increased by 100% of the original chace, in this case, 1%, meaning the chance of getting that item is now 2%.

Since lots of items have very low chance as it is (way less than 1%), having even 150% magic find won’t be noticeable unless you actually track your drops from before and then after you got it for a while, much less considering that your got it gradually (if you went from 0 to 150% suddenly, you’d probably notice it), and there’s no way to see what drops you’d get without it since it’s account bound (unlike what hapened before where you could go from one char with high magic find to another with none).

That said, I do agree that the MF from guild banners could use a boost, the numbers made sense when magic find wasn’t as prevalent as today, and you had to use specific armor and boosts to increase it, while today even the most casual players that have been playing since the new MF system was introduced are probably at least closing in to 100%.

I follow your logic, and I understand, but there is still this nagging in the back of my mind that something is not quite kosher with magic find and how it is portrayed in our hero panel.

Magicfind % are Meaningless (2nd try)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Reanne.5462

So I was going to write this thread about how pointless a guild 10% MF banner is. When I say pointless, that is what I mean. In what way does it change the likelihood of any drops? 10%? 10 percent of what? I have 150% on my character and my drops are hardly noticeably different. But instead I will ask you.
If you have 100% magic find boost on your character, do you assume that means you are 100% more likely to get an increase from blue to green, or green to rare as a drop?

If the maximum magic find bonus/boost you can get is 300%,… I think the decimal point is in the wrong place.

Think about a consumable that gives a mf buff, 30% is cheap, But the best my guild can get me is 5-10%??

I know you like the vagueness of it, but to me it just represents a flaw in the game which the developers ignore. Remove the percentage sign, and I will be happy, or have the percentage represent a logical increase in drops.

Reanne.5462

Correct. Anet is in the position to tell us what we need to do. They haven’t exactly given us clear orders all the time. In fact, they have given us rather mixed signals at times, and often haven’t provided us with the guidance we need to get things done. We shouldn’t have to rely on Dulfy to figure everything out; hand-holding is certainly not the answer, but we need more and better guidance and feedback from Anet. It’s partially players’ fault when people don’t read enemy descriptions for hints on how to win an event, but Anet needs to make sure that when people fail because they don’t read, they are made aware that they’ve messed up, so that the only way a person could possibly fail the event after that point is willful ignorance. Anet is the general, and the orders we’ve been given haven’t been too clear, so it’s at least partially their fault.

I like this point. but let me also add, I do not have time in my day to take a class on how to play guild wars 2 from a 3rd party website. I do want to be capable of completing the so called ‘harder’ content. It is not that I am unwilling to learn game mechanics, it’s that there is no good place to learn the game mechanics. If I am fighting within a zerg, I am either more concerned about getting a tag in before the foe dies so I can get credit, or the fight is so long it doesn’t matter what skills I use as long as I don’t stand in one place too long, the end result of this kind of fight is the same whether I use the most damaging combination of my skills or I don’kittens
just a worthless green weapon anyway.
I also would like more content for smaller groups, and foes that I can 1v1 in PVE that I can match myself up against. The wind up attack of an ettin is a good example. I can see the attack coming and I have learned to time my dodge. The problem is, why bother dodging, if when I get hit I don’t take any damage?
It would help if there were more converse skill sets and attacks from enemies that I can evaluate as I fight them, instead of swinging my hammer 3 times killing them without taking any damage.(without hardly looking to see what foe I am even killing)
I think this would make the game more fun also.

Has anyone else noticed a lack of constructive response from the staff of guild wars 2? I have read through these forums and found attempts at positive threads, starting with a hope that an intelligent response will be made by the developers, and very quickly those threads acquire a more desperate tone, eventually turning negative in their responses by the OP’s and the people who do take the time to respond. And all the while the developers are silent, or if they do interact, it’s just to delete the post all together.
There have been posts here asking why the forum is so negative, I believe it is because of a lack of interest and input by people who could actually enter informative interaction and recognition of the thought processes on these forums.

how do you get the server to coordinate? People see that an attempt is being made, they don’t want to use TS but they show up anyway, they don’t follow the commanders instructions, but run around just trying to kill randomly. What tools are there to make everyone on the map play the ‘correct’ way? Why is there not room for a scattering of n00bs on the map and to still have a chance to succeed? Success at this should not require 3rd party programs and memorizing the Dulfy guide.

I am obviously not getting my point across, and the more I respond the more people like Vol are going to show up and make simple minded comments about my post itself, instead of the point of the post.

I appreciate the responses from those of you offering to show me how to do the tequatl fight. But I must clarify. I know the methodology.
And the Commander in charge that runs the attempt, understands what needs to be done very well also. The problem is that Henge of Denravi as a server seems incapable of accomplishing something that other servers “do three times daily”, “with almost a 100% success rate” I would hope that the makers of the game will acknowledge and put some thought into how such a big boss fight and “World Event” could downsize based on the number of people who show up to do it. I am not a think-tank, they designed the kitten thing. Take the Champs away from the turrets when the instance isn’t maxed out with people or something. If we were getting anywhere close to killing it, I wouldn’t be so adamant about something being changed. But if 80 people show up and don’t do 25% damage… Why doesn’t anet just rename the event the “TTS event” and only have tequatl show up in the sparkfly zone that that guild is going to play in.
I would prefer that the game were designed for everyone to play, not just those who Guest to a high populated server or join a guild with the exclusive control of the event.

Once again our server has put forth the effort to organize an attempt at Tequatle, every week on Friday , and Sunday we manage to put the zone into overflow, and every week, we fail to get anywhere close to success. This last attempt was the worst I have seen in a while, we failed to even get to the first marker.

Would it be possible for a empathetic developer or someone who gives a crap about this game, to join us on Friday and help us figure out what we are doing wrong? The majority of us know the gimmick/methodology – placement of people, job responsibilities, important targets etc… and yet we can not get to 50% completion?

I realize the developers have moved on to other things, and probably don’t give a rats kitten if the people playing the game are having fun, as long as they get their paycheck, But it would be nice if HoD could say “we manage to beat tequatle once or twice a month.”
As it is now, the dragon is lucky if anyone shows up at all, let alone kill it.

The most effecient way to get what you want is zerg running champs in frostgorge, wvw, or queensdale. If you want tier 1 materials for example, killing foes that drop tier 1 materials is a very slow method of acquiring them, when you can buy them from the trade post cheap.
You want Charged Lodestones? you’re not going to get them by killing anything, spend a year, and you might get 1. So you buy them instead.
Every possible objective you may think you want to accomplish can be done easier by buying it, than killing a foe, or doing a renowned heart, or doing a personal story. Even dungeons are only benefitial as a means to make coin to buy what you actually are seeking. Not everyone has the time to ‘farm’ dungeons.
So all the average player is left with is running a champ zerg. Even the Daily, Monthly achievements are designed to encourage you to run the Champ Zergs.
Personally I have between 250-400 unspent skill points, depending on which charactor I am playing. So why do I need to recieve xp as a reward?
What would I spend karma on? I have max armor, so why do I want karma as a reward? Laurals were interesting for a bit, until I got bored of grinding daily achievements. Over 11,000 achievment points, those people above 15k are nuts!
So do I play this game for fun, or to accumulate coin? Coin is an objective, although it means…(what is the definition of insanity?) doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a better result. (I’ll get a precursor this time for sure!)
What is fun? I think it is haveing a objective that takes a thought process, that takes placing skills on my bar to resolve that objective. What in this game entails that? Certainly not running with zergs. Certainly not anything in PVE. So now my ‘goal’ is to get 250 stacks of every material. which means… I run champ zergs to get the coin to buy them off of the trade post. We have this big open beautiful world, but no reason to go there. PVE what PVE?… we have ZergVE

Too easy, Too hard.

Anyone else in the same spot I am in with this game? I am really not interested in playing anymore, everything I can do alone, is too easy, mindless click 1, foe is dead, no drops.. Zzzzzz I ve done all the renowned hearts 2x, i’ve 100% map completion 2×. If it sounds like I am complaining, it is only because I really want to like this game. I enjoyed gw1 for 7 years, Why can’t I last 2 with this one?

New content comes out.. the TA dungeon, I don’t feel like gambling with Pugs, Tequatl is an all day preparation, I can’t do that, I have a life outside of gw. Events smashed into a tower… whoo hoo, “queensdale in box” All the semi interesting stuff requires relying on a competent group, maybe I don’t want them relying on me… I find myself more drawn to internet chess lately.

bought 100 exotic daggers traded them into the mystic toilet for 1 exotic dagger.. no precursor for me, no legendary.. even if I got a legendary what would I use it for? what would my point of playing be then? If the game can not convince me to play, nothing can.

There is no one here? Just a big dragon standing on the beach, it doesn’t attack anything, it doesn’t wreck havoc on anything. It just stands there, and no one is around to kill it. Not that they have any reason to, it seems pretty harmless. Maybe just came up to get some fresh air I’m guessing.

Blah. what a pointless addition, How is this a living story? May as well be a statue for all the affect it has on the area.
