Invulnerability -- WHY?!

in PvP

Posted by: Robin Skyshroud.1863

Robin Skyshroud.1863

So if I’m reading you right, you want to be able to CC people more easily and prevent them from pulling any tricks out of their bag that might prevent you from unloading a massive burst of damage?

Does this look more like what you want?

http://epicmagemanuever.ytmnd.com/

I guess thats how you would describe it in laymen’s terms and considering the loss of translation, yes.

I’m talking about invulnerability not just preventing damage of all kinds and magnitudes but also allowing the user to do things while invulnerability.

Endure Pain reduces direct damage to 0 but allows Condition Damage to work like normal. Blocks are the same thing, but are also susceptible to Daze and Conditions. Okay, so the point is, you don’t see me using a Shield Block just to do a finisher to a downed enemy — in fact, its not allowed.

Invulnerability is IMMUNE TO ALL!!! Please tell me, you know this. If I’m wrong, kindly tell me otherwise, I’d like to hear about it and actually counter invulnerability.

Is there a counter to Invulnerability? If not, why isn’t there one, in the balance of things?

Invulnerability -- WHY?!

in PvP

Posted by: Robin Skyshroud.1863

Robin Skyshroud.1863

Invulnerability is an effect that prevents the target from taking damage, receiving conditions, or being affected by control effects. It does not prevent fall damage, or environmental traps.

Has anyone tried using traps to see if they work against invulnerability?

For a game that is supposedly balanced why is there a make shift “God Mode”.
I’m wasting my time considering posting this, but I believe Invulnerability should not allow any other actions including finishers in PvP.

To my knowledge Engineers have 100% chance of successful finisher when turning on Invulnerability. How can an Elementalist even do a finisher in Mist Form? You’re kittening MIST!!
Also, can Mesmers even Moa Transform someone with Invulnerability?

……

Stability is also broken. I suggest revamping stability to work like the mini bosses and heroes we summon in the game — a bar you deplete before stun can actually work.
Why keep this mechanic separate?

Warrior Sword Trade Condi for Damage?

in PvP

Robin Skyshroud.1863

Since guild wars 1, I always played sword – no one can convince me otherwise because the sword had more consistant DPS and had many offence and defensive capabilities. I’m still playing sword and shield to this very day in Guild Wars 2.

However, unlike Guild Wars 1, GW2 makes sword an ONLY condition damage play style weapon. I’ve tried using sword as a direct source of DPS, but the numbers are quite displeasing compared to ALL melee weapons a warrior can use — unbelievably the mace can hit higher numbers than a sword. Final Thrust is the only high Damage skill the sword has but its activation time is extremely slow that even my grandma can run away from it.

Has the Anet team considered changing sword to be a pure DPS play style and having the bleed condition be applied from a skill, just like the Long Bow can? Seeing how condition damage is in this game, dealing damage solely on bleed is not viable. I rather trade my bleed for some better sword swings.

What does the community think about the Warrior’s Sword?
Does it need a buff?
Should we be able to play how we want or shall we continue to be forced to play as condition damagers?

To answer your questions:

1.) Sword (from what I gather) is fine where it’s at, given the number of weapons warriors have access to.
2. ) They don’t really need a buff. Maybe an adjustment (swap CD for damage kind of thing)
3.) This one is a bit tricky to answer without coming off mean so I apologize in advance. The weapons are what Anet made (as you are aware) so that includes sword. You are choosing to stay with sword, thus you are not being forced by anyone other than yourself to play as a “condition damager” If you were going DPS (which you want to by the sounds of it), and you are sticking to sword, that seems more like a personal choice that you must deal with as you are clearly aware there are better DPS choices.

Sword was set up as a condi hybrid weapon, not pure DPS. I suggest to try to get along with other weapon (mace or axe). I used to play warrior all the time pre HoT and some berserker so maybe a more current warrior/berserker main could chime in with more information.

Hope you find a happy medium and hope to see you on the playing field

I totally understand that I can switch to a whole different weapon, and I do. I guess this game will always be less customizable and less flexible than gw1.

Secondary profession?

I get it, you might be newer and want to experience the dungeon, but most of us have been running this content for years. Stacking is immediate default because most people want to get in and out. When you have run these things thousands of times like a lot of us have you are just using them as an ends to a means. COme back in two years and still tell me you like slogging through the same dudgeon after those two years

I do. I can’t speak for everyone, but I love killing in this game! I use to vanquish in Guild Wars 1, so I do it in every dungeon. I just need to kill! I’m max pvp level, max pve level and max craft. As a warrior, killing is what I do best.

I can be certain that when a level designer makes a level, he does not account stacking to be one of the many ways of completing his challenge.

No, actually you can’t be sure. I can quite easily say that due to no collision detection, stacking closely together was taken in to account. So besides your possibly incorrect assumption, how do you know what anet intended?

I’m still sticking to my answer. There is still player to NPC collision. And considering that Guild Wars 2 came from GW1, player to player collision was a huuuuge thing. Unless you are trying to tell me that player to player collision was a mistake?

Stacking in Dungeons has been a long and unforgettable plague in Guild Wars 2.

This is a serious problem that needs to be made even MORE clearer to Arenanet.

Please Look at this Screenshot. I am glad this isnt as bad as people bad mouthing, disbanding, or kicking, but this is still relevant.

I hate stacking, it takes the fun away to straight boring.
I know I am not the only one who experiences this, but must I remind Anet, 90% of people running Dungeons will stack, and if one refuses to play the game incorrectly, you are hated and removed near immediate.

I am not just talking about standing on top of each other. This is picking a corning or a wedge in the wall, fusing the party into a monster of 10 arms. A corner that best fits this method of gameplay is a spot that ignores or avoids the environmental challenges that the dungeon provides. This is straight cheating…

Not matter how I feel about this, people will just keep on kicking. A solid records was getting kicked 4 consecutive times in a row. I know i am not the only one out there.

Are people really afraid to play this game correctly? Don’t get me started on people Stealth-ing through the dungeon.

Hint – you joined their party, you follow their rules. If you don’t like it – feel free to make your own “no stack or kick” one.

You do realize that in doing so, will take forever to make a party. There are nice people in this game, but majority of those that stack arent so nice. This reply is a clear example of it.

It would be easier if we all can just party and play!

How is your way of playing more correct than theirs if they’re also playing how they want?

It really is not a matter of being correct or incorrect. That would be taking it to a more psycological approach, which in my opinion is far over and off the topic at hand.

I can be certain that when a level designer makes a level, he does not account stacking to be one of the many ways of completing his challenge.

I was there and I +1 Desert Leaf.

Stacking has to go. Stacking is not a key strategy to beating a dungeon, but a big percent of players believe so. I’m sure ArenaNet devs do not believe it is either, so how about we get some non-stacking love changes for your real dungeon crawlers? I want to play the game, not sit through a game — I might as well just watch TV if I had to stack!

Stacking apparently judges whether you are worthy to be in the party or not. This just doesn’t make any sense.

Robin Skyshroud.1863

Where in the world does it make sense to be able to remove all conditions? Of course there is a more frequent application than removal. Can you remove all Power damage after it was applied? No you can’t. Why shouldn’t it be the same for condition builds.

Power can be removed after it is applied… Warrior and Ranger both have skill that force all physical damage to 0. Invulnerability does the same thing; however conditions still are in effect unlike power.

This is all in the matter of, have you thought of every possibility?

Simply said, conditions are very very unbalanced right now for PvP. Nothing ever bothers PvE.

Condi Wars 2

Robin Skyshroud.1863

FYI….. Guardians can do 4k – 10 K fire condition per second.

Power builds are not as strong with this New Setup. Condition Builds can run in circles while you burn by 10K fire ( BEFORE ARMOR).

You heard correctly. You can keep chasing with your power builds, or keep shooting with all that effort.

I’ll just get 1 shot of fire in you and ill run my kitten off while you die.

Condition Removal??? Well, Guess again. I can apply conditions way quicker than your 30 second cool down.

THIS GAME IS kittenG BROKEN. Armor needs to factor in Condition damage as the quickest and EASIEST FIX.

FOREVER BETA 2 : CONDI WARS EDITION!

P.S. – Pre-purchased HoT and I got this mess.

Do we play the same game?

Condi build’s can’t run in circle anymore thanks to the nerf in condition durations. Everyone is basically forced to use Balthazar runes because of it, even then, burns don’t last long. They’re suppose to deliver quicker damage than Bleeds.

Necro transfers conditions to enemies
Medi zerk guards have self + team cleanses
Shout guards have lots of team cleanses
Ele’s have numerous self cleanses, not counting their DS trait.
Wars have Stances and self cleanses on adrenaline usage.
Ranger transfers conditions to pets and can be invuln to attacks.

(don’t use other classes)

Tell me, which team are you on that can’t handle burns (not conditions) builds?

Saiyan, you clearly don’t play condi then. Trap ranger can run in circles. Mesmer can run in circles. Even a warrior can run in circles doing condi.

It doesn’t take a math matician or a software engineer to tell you that conditions can be applied more frequently than any remove in this game.

I thought keeping skills to a particular weapon and blah blah blah was suppose to ‘make balancing easier’. I found Guild Wars 1 more balanced than Guild Wars 2. Condition Damage is off the charts now! It is completely unbelievable! The QA team must not be running good PvP builds, because you can’t last 2 seconds with such condition spam going around. I also have to mention that there are a lot of skills that condition players successfully even while blocking [Traps are perfect example!]

I don’t know about the rest of the PvP players in this game, but I been fighting a lot of players that just run in circles on a cap point, spamming conditions. Yea yea yea sure I can just remove them, but lesbi honest, whats 60 or 30 seconds of a ONE time removal going to do against condi that can be applied every 1 second!

OH wait, warriors can remove 1 condition every 5 seconds with weapon swap — which is the biggest joke! Players can team up and apply conditions faster and more frequently than any removal known to this GAME!

Seriously, this game is really starting to bother me. This by far is the most negatively mind blowing update I’ve seen!

Anet, just play a PvP match for goodness sake! See it with your own eyes. Don’t be afraid to start a ranked match without a team. YOU MUST SEE IT!!!!

ps I dont care if my english is so bad, just know my frustration is coming out. I more stressed playing this game! THANKS ANET! WOW

JUST WOW!

Simple Team Deathmatch Mode?

in PvP

Posted by: Robin Skyshroud.1863

Robin Skyshroud.1863

With the current state of PvP and the ongoing tweaks of all professions, the meta of current PvP mode is leading into a competition of who can run the fastest, survive the longest, and hold a point the longest. These 3 specific challenges to winning a PvP match has caused an uproar of professions to be built just to run in circles to hold a capture point while tanking all sources of damage, and/or builds that are meant to constantly push enemies off capture points long enough to neutralize and/or capture the point in their favor. As result to these circumstances, fighting enemies in general is now one of the worst ways of capturing a point or gaining score.

Without going too much about the obvious in pvp, can we have a mode that focuses on fighing rather than capturing? Perhaps a straight on team deathmatch just as Guild Wars 1 did.

The reason for the set unchangeable skills is because they admitted that Guild Wars 1 style was a failure becoming exponentially more complex when trying to balance skills.

That sounds like laziness and an excuse for Anet. Never ending bug fixing and tweaking is the life of a developer. Squash a bug, two or three more show up. Add a new feature then some other thing yells back.

They are bound to add more skills whether they believe their system will reduce balancing or not. Introducing a new weapon set with its own skills will still require balancing or that set and pre-existing sets.

League of Legends still makes new champions to play regardless of how many champions there are (110+) already. Even so, nerfs and balancing changes to all items/skills/ old champions are updated quite often especially when a new champ is introduced — a Guild Wars 2 great axe will be no different. If balancing is a huge “omg” to Anet and if they were to update us with new weapon sets, then I suggest releasing one at time in a span of several months to help ease balancing.

“In Guild Wars 2, your actions really matter and your choices have an impact on the world around you. Instead of static, boring quests in an unchanging world, our dynamic event system creates a living, breathing world that bustles with energy and responds to player actions.” – https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/dynamic-events/

I am currently trying to accomplish world completion, and I noticed that any event I play or choose not to play hardly affects the map im in or more so the world. I do notice a bridge being destroyed or water supplying getting contaminated, but thats about it. The bridge can be crossed from some nearby land formation, and the water supply does not seem to harm any nearby villagers.

When I heard “…affect the world”, I imagined villages burning on fire with villagers running in fear that would take days to repair; overrunned and vandalized towns (that changed dramatically in appearance as if one can see the very torment corrupting the town); champions and bosses causing a more dramatic impact (worship, slavery, droughts); water supplies actually getting villagers sick and needed to be taken cared for; bandits robbing random homes; beggars created by recent destroyed farms or towns; the list can go on. On the brighter side of things, villagers would host festivals and parties, town folk will cheer players on as the savior of a town, npc’s seen dancing and singing randomly (the grass is greener; the water is fresh; happy Gwen status).

From this, what happens outside of the main city walls should also affect what happens on the inside. Main cities should be getting jam packed with homeless and beggars because the nearby towns were burned by centaur; increase of bandits and gangs because no player decided to help defend homes from being robbed; cities walls being torn down from old ascalonian rioters ( or have riots ).

My point is, whether or not if some of these events that I mentioned are in the game or not, they need to be more visually apparent. A player should be able to walk into an area and notice that the air is a stench, the ground is vile, and that nearby towns are ghost towns or completely demolished because no one cared to help save Tyra. I suggest Guild Wars 2 to build more rewarding and more visually apparent outcomes in the decisions players make.

I believe the bosses are of Epic proportions yes. THEY ARE FUN, but i only fought 2 of them out of the entire game. EPIC to me means, more frequent spawns of these bad boys.

I agree with Feyr, high rank/glory can often tell the other players how “seasoned” the fighter is. Going up against someone of higher rank would obviously show and result in the person having played more and thus learned a great deal regarding the do’s and donts, and the ins and outs of combat.

Now, if i was not me and responded in someone else’s way of thinking, that “me” would say, rank/glory can do nothing to the player’s skill level. Rank/glory is only there for fancier looking weapons and armor. All the stats on gear are balanced and are intended for fair competition. Then quite often, ending it with the word “noob”.
(haha its actually funny and wierd how people do sound like that)

I could be wrong, but this sounds a lot like League of Legends and DOTA. Its a good idea, but it seemed like Guild Wars 1 Hero Battles was going to head in this direction before. Unfortunately that pvp doesnt exist anymore.
