wow, calling nerfs to Mesmer when this class’s elite spec got gutted to the ground with alacrity overnerf? Before people complain about certain things not have counterplays, now having “counterplay” is not enough. Do these kittened even played Mesmers long enough to know what it feels like? Being in one meta and immediately get a heavy-handed nerfs right after? If Mesmers so effective, where are all the ESL champion Mesmers on the winning teams?
Thieves are viable.
yep, Mesmers are not. ANet, please revert the nerfs or overbuff just like you guys did for Thieves.
Mike says they have a total of 210 devs working on the game
wut
At least 210, it’s funny how all the script kiddies on these forums think software development is easy. It’s magic, it just works! “I wrote a few hundred lines of code in college, including Hello World!”
I write more code in a normal work week than in 4 years of college. It takes hundreds of programmers and millions of lines of code to make GW2 work.
because not having a test server makes whole lot of sense… Seriously, you dont need to be a pro game programmer to know what’s ideal dev environment and what’s not. I’m a full stack developer in finance industry in NYC, we have a staging test servers and run unit testing before merging / pushing code changes, you’d think it’s pretty common for gaming company to do something similar. For the amount of developers Anet claim they have, they sure suck at having a system for handling their internal QA. More often than not, they break old stuff and introduce new bugs. There are plenty good software development concepts like Agile, perhaps Anet should adopt one of them and hire capable people to write user stories to improve their development processes.
Either remove it or give it 2 min CD. Stop gold spooning engis and revs. People who wanted to buy HoT already bought xpac, no need for moronic imbalance for the sake of sales anymore.
no sympathy for thief, just got buffs and wants more, freaking pathetic.
because mesmer has easy access to the most damaging conditions – torment and confusion
and after they apply 5 stacks of confusion and 7 stacks of torment while hiding in stealth or spamming blind preventing counter-attack they just spam their endless defensive cds while you take 1.5k damage per second
Sounds like somebody has no idea how to fight a condie mesmer, refuses to learn, and as a result ends up eating dirt every time he sees one.
Might I offer the advice of….l2p?
what a pathetic attempt of a personal attack, most definitely i dont lose to them
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
if salty mesmer mains cant accept they are unable to play the class without the unkillable chronobunker build they can always reroll to scrapper or rev
If salty thief mains can’t accept that they have no functional reason to ever lose to a mesmer unless they’re bad, they can always uninstall the game.
never said i lose to mesmers, my build excels in 1v1
Sure, whatever you say.
If you actually never lost to mesmers, you wouldn’t be here whining about them. Obviously there’s a little bit of defensive fabrication going on.
im here because im worried for the state of game’s health
Because Mesmers are definitely the linchpin with the state of the game’s health.
And not Eles, Revenants, or Scrappers.
None of those 3 classes need their forums trolled or anything.
No no. The deciding factor in this new meta is mesmer.
well if anet nerfed terrible mechanics in mesmer’s class they could probably buff something else which has counterplay and is not so unfun to play against
ironic statement coming from a thief main.
So Thieves being more squishy that cloth armour wearers and having a massive disparity in sustain in relation to their ranger and engineer cousins you don’t see as a problem?
Mesmers would love to trade places with thieves, just sayin’
Mesmer didnt get anything because the class is perfect as is… Epic fail on Anet.
100% accurate.Unfortunately if you don’t scream and shout the devs don’t take any notice. Look at how most Warrs handled getting knocked off the top spot. They flamed and abused (breaking pretty much every forum rule with no consequences) anyone who suggested they were overstating how bad warr was for months. I even had Warrs abusing me in game for daring to suggest that the class was still more than viable on the forums. What did they get. They got buffed, while Mes got nerfed into the ground because of one dumb build. This is how the devs try to balance the game. The louder and more obnoxious you are gets results, and the more civilised and more constructive you are gets nerfed. Fact.
Support canning elite specs and going back to the pre expansion meta, a meta in which EVERY profession had at LEAST one viable build?
Or are the new shinys too tempting, are new abilities and missing counterplay your cup of tea?
This meta blows kitten
I’d pay to go back when Mesmer was actually buffed correctly, which is right after the Robert Gee trait revamp patch.
Rocket Charge should not evade, simple as that.
Rev needs to get shiro and herald defensive traits tuned down.
I play too little necro to say what they should do with reaper but I always found cleansing five conditions and applying five conditions on a target on that cooldown was ridiculous. By now condition damage is so common I don’t get how necro gets away with dealing 200% better with it that other classes. In comparison a warrior shout willl cleanse a single condition and that’s it.
Shiro is not that good. I play necro a lot. Rev barely compares to the unmitigated glory that is Reaper. Rev is just a more active flexible play style. You guys keep wanting the game to be balanced around PvP when your suggestions would trash classes for PvE.
umm, no. Many want different balance for different game modes.
Btw, what the kitten happened to “no ESL class stacking?” I was really hopeful about that. Then I tune in see nothing but hot herald on herald action.
Enforcing no class stacking in ESL in itself would shake up the meta. Example: force ESL players to add in other classes.
Not for nothing, I knew gyros and the bulwark in particular would join soon. Medic and bulwark add crazy sustain.
But before I ramble, back to the point. No class stacking eh? Bullkitten. Herald Herald Tempest Scrapper Necro ft bad health of the game.
(edited by Rome.7124)
I actually like where Engineer is right now. It is good to see a class that can have more than 1 viable spec in PvP.
Because ANet is terrible at balancing, when a class is able to have multiple viable specs, it is because their power level is over the top (and scrapper is the strongest build in the game now, and would be stacked in multitudes if they allowed it). This is because, due to power-creep, “viable” builds are usually those based on the most OP traits/skills a class can use. When a class gets a traitline/set of skills that are massively OP, they are able to have multiple builds.
Power-creep is such that something has to be incredibly OP to be “viable” at the high level, so having 2 “viable” builds means there is some element that is SO OP it makes a couple different builds possible.
true statement.
You dont see Mesmers with MULTIPLE viable builds…
true reason why you miss bunker meta is because you are bad
thief player, hahaha…
Rotations are crucial in a DPS meta, you will die fast when out rotated.
All there was to do in the Bunker Meta was to match numbers. Almost never were fights lost due to getting outnumbered by faster or better rotations – react and match numbers, EZ revive, and the fight is completely anew.
Also, the times where on Foefire, one team gets 4 kills on Graveyard in 2 minutes, but can’t decap the enemy captured point. (ORNG Vs. Car Crash).
Fights that don’t end simply rob the player’s of getting the capture point they are dominating. Incredibly deflating.
TLDR: S1 Bunker Meta is 90% rotation dependent, yes, but only because the mechanical skill dependency shrunk from 50% to 10%.
Easy for you to talk..you’re a scrapper that can still hold vs X, can 1vs1 anyone and win the majority and basically good at being a pain in the kitten , unfortunately there are professions like ele , badly designed that have always relied on gimmicks to stay alive and as to be expected from the “designers” who came up with the concept in the first place, their idea of fixing the so called “cancerous bunker meta” was to remove that gimmick.
I can’t bare all the whiteknights who keep accusing the players for using what they must in order not to win..but to merely play the game at all; both eles and mesmers have been asking for concise buffs to the core concept for years, no weeks, no month..for years
Nobody has ever asked to hold 3-4 people on a point, nobody has ever asked to win every single fight, people have only been asking to have fun in this game, like to finally stop swinging between OP and UP
-It’s right to remove the gimmicks? yes it is
-It’s fair to remove the gimmick while not fixing the issue that created it?..No absolutely not
I agree 100%. Mesmers mostly as a community didnt want chronobunker as the only viable competitive build, but Anet put us in that position that playing any other build beside the bunker will be a liability for the team.
NOW because some pro players + thief/war community cried about the bunker meta, Anet decided to overnerf Mes and Ele, with no viable alternative builds.
Oh these are fun.
Utility changes:
1. Remove aegis from Precog, remove the cast time from it, increase the stab pulse to 2 stacks, add remove 2 conditions on pulse (Gives it some use in WvW & PvP. No real use in PvE). Reduce cooldown to 40 seconds.
2. Decrease timewarp’s cooldown to 90 seconds. There’s really no reason it’s still at 180. If you feel like a 50% reduction in cooldown is too much, reduce it to 120.
3. Reduce the cooldown of mirror images to a base of 35 seconds. It’s 2 clones & a stun break, it doesn’t deserve to be on a higher cooldown than a clone, stunbreak + stealth (decoy)
4. Reduce the cooldown of arcane thievery to 20 seconds, bringing it more in line with boon corrupt necros. (Don’t like it? Nerf necros then)
5. Reduce cast time on mantras by 3/4 a second, bringing it to 2 seconds to charge them.
6. Increase the damage mantra of pain does, but also increase its cooldown. That way it doesn’t break the mantra traits. Perhaps give it a good 700-800 damage base, but a cooldown of lets say 10 or so seconds before you can recharge it.
7. Increase base healing on mirror by 750.
8. Reduce cooldown on well of recall by 5 seconds.
9. Increase cooldown on Well of Calamity to 40 seconds, triple the pulse and double final pulse damage. Remove cripple and add slow. (This brings it into the same line that necro’s well of suffering exists on. Making it valuable in WvW, and something I might take in PvP to secure downs.)
10. Signet of inspiration, add to the active: And yourself.
11. Decrease signet of domination cooldown to 60 seconds, decrease moa time to 3 seconds. (This is just a thought experiment, more than an actual suggested balance)Trait changes:
Chaos
1. Increase PU effect to 75%. (Harsh reality: Renerf to 25% in 3 weeks because it was too OP for pugs to deal with, but thief is perfectly fine)
2. Remove chilled and crippled from chaotic interruption pool (YOU ALREADY kittenING IMMOBILIZED THEM), add 3 stacks of burning and 3 stacks of confusion to the pool. (Thought experiment: Replace blind with 2 stacks of poison)
3. Change mirror of anguish to a 3 second taunt that also gives me 3 1/2 seconds of protection. I WANT TO BE A REVENANT TOO~!
Domination
4. Rending Shatter gives 2 stacks of vulnerability instead of 1. Why? Why not?
5. Imagined Burden – changed to Illusionary Greatness. All clone attacks give you 2 stacks of might, keep the rest the same. (I just didn’t like the name, it made no sense. and I’ve already made a lot of condi changes. If it were Imagined Burden, I’d feel the need to add condis to it…)
6. Furious Interrupt – Also creates a clone! Or even an pDefender! Idk, pdefender could be a bit much. As would most phantasms. So lets go with a clone.
7. Shattered concentration – removes 2 boons instead of 1.
*Illusions
8. The Pledge – Not only do torch skills remove conditions, but being in stealth removes 1 condition every second!
9. Main the Disillusioned – Also inflicts a stack of confusion.
10. Shattered Strength – 2 stacks of might, because why not?
11. Ineptitude – interval reduced to 7 seconds
12. Malicious Sorcery – Scepter projectile speed increased by 20% as well.
Dueling
I’m kind of fine with everything in dueling?
Inspiration
13. Persisting images – 50% health instead of only 20.WEAPON CHANGES
MH Sword
1. Remove any after cast from Blurred Frenzy. If there is any. It seems like there is to me. Increase damage by 10%.
2. Increase auto attack damage by 30%.
3. Increase range on Illusionary Leap and Swap to 900.
OH Sword
4. Illusionary Riposte now blocks up to 3 attacks instead of 1, summons an illusion regardless of whether it blocks anything.
Greatsword
5. Increase autoattack damage by 30% (I know, I’m insane!). Remove weird after cast delay this thing sometimes has.
6. Mirror Blade – bounces 4 times instead of 3.
7. Mindstab – removes 2 boons.
OH Pistol
Nothing to really complain about. Unless you want phantasms to be our actual main source of damage (I don’t)
OH Sheild
Nothing to really complain about.
Torch
Meh. not sure what I even want to change here, other than possibly the phantasm. The trait changes might be enough for this weapon, honestly.
Staff
8. Add blind back to chaos armor. Reduce the change of getting it to 20%.
9. Chaos storm – Dazes on first hit. Increase damage by 30%.
10. Autoattack – increase number of bounces to 4, projectile speed increases with each bounce. (Thought experiment more than anything)
Scepter
11. Illusionary Counter – Same behavior I described for illusionary riposte. And with that, I’ve probably made Condi Lockdown mesmer OP as kitten. Which might be deserved, considering how difficult it can be to play lockdown mesmer.
+1
Moa is just dumb. A free kill almost every minute? With stealth it leaves no room for counterplay.
And that burst damage. Helseth is still blowing people up in 2 seconds with Greatsword burst.
Mesmer needs to be nerfed. A lot. Right now. Alacrity nerf was not enough.
because every Mesmer players are like Helseth, if that was the case we would’ve seen Mesmers as part of the past metas longer then ele/war/thief etc and had higher representation in ESL…
Your point on thief is a good one, it just doesnt make sense to use heartseeker very often any more, the auto chain is higher dps than heartseeker even below 25% and shadow shot is a better gap close. Doesn’t make sense at all.
please convince the dev that mesmer would love to take the damage buff if thief community doesnt want it… Seriously, classes that got buffs are now complaining instead being the classes that got butchered have no idea how much worst could the situation be for you guys.
Is it even slightly sad that I expected more from the Devs? Eles got butchered in this patch, the only amulet that allowed them to have a place after 1 year of total uselessness got removed, exposing their glaring weaknesses even more, and now their apex predator, thief, has been buffed beyond recognition….yet again.
I foresee another year of non-existent eles, and i expect very little pity from anyone who got affected by D/D cele and cele tempest (which, as an Ele main I agree were broken) since they probably just want revenge.
I think it takes a lot of courage to admit your favorite class was broken, and while i see plenty of eles admitting it, I think I have never seen a thief admit it, no matter how obvious it is.
Oh well, lets give it time and see how everything plays out, Im still at work and cant test out many of the changes, but the way it is, I think mesmers/ele might as well not exist and this will become thieves/necros-land
Ele still enjoyed longer stay in metas than Mesmer, who also got butchered in the patch. Honestly, ele was so OP for a long time, you guys had your time. At least one thing is consistent this time, both classes have crappy scepter, lol.
Are the people complaining really this bad at the game? Or are you just dumb? Or are you trolls?
Guess what, mostly any proff can still beat a thief 1v1 on point. Thief is still primarily a +1 and capper/decapper.
Thief’s autoattack does more damage now? Well that’s because it has little group support compared to other proffs.
If people could stop making horrible threads, that would be great.
there’s so much bs in the reply, how can you type it without breaking into laughter?
…having more thieves on your team is a good thing
Great meta.
See, the problem was never really about bunker meta, it was all about thief not being part of it.
those that main Mesmer, please let your voice be heard:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/January-26th-Update-Your-feedback/
I mean, can anyone here say when was the last time that after previewing changes from patch notes they changed a single thing from feedback?
The feedback on Feedback and some feedback on scepter AA seems to have been noticed.
I also recall being angry about the Duelist’s Discipline nerf (before we’d even got to try the unbugged version), and suggesting something very much like what they just did as a compromise.
Those are changes that happened in subsequent patches.
What I’m talking about is when have they ever, after previewing changes and receiving feedback about them, altered those changes according to feedback before they are patched in.
99% of the time they go “here are the changes that are coming, you can see them maybe 1-2 weeks before they land, you can talk about them if you want, but they are going as is regardless of what you have to say”.
It tells you a lot about crappy development practices when this is the single MOO without a Public Test Realm deployed one month before a patch to test and gather feedback before changes are implemented and adjust accordingly.
And they don’t care about having a PTR, which pretty much tells you that they really don’t care much about player input when deciding changes about the game.
I never understood Anet’s reasoning for not having a PTR, and you are right, they never care about feedbacks, unless you are some ESL sponsored by help them promote esports. I read some pro players wanted Mesmer out of the meta, and Anet happily met that demand.
I have not seen the ridiculous 10k plus hits from CoR since the patch but I have only fought a dozen or so hammer Revs..
It’s more likely because of this:
Best bug ever.
Bug? The 0.5 cooldown on the receiving end of multiple CoRs was intended. It was either that, or nerf the damage hard.
Now at least you won’t receive anywhere near as many complaints about being one shot in WvW. A good compromise, in my opinion.
Then Anet should do this for all AOE skills that can hit multiple people in WvW.
we should add the same .5s to meteor shower and necro wells.
Yes, please do this. Stop giving preferential treatments, do the same treatment.
“it is a very hard profession to master”
Is this sarcasm???
Just saying, people who think Rev is just 111 either are noob revenant or never played revenant before.
A good rev can do so much more, and need to swap legend more to utilize it.
After the sword nerf, the energy management is more crucial now since you need to use sword 2 to maximize your dps too.My old rotation can even maintain permanent protection (on top of fury might swiftness regen), constant pressure, long lasting quickness (or summon hammer combo)
Tbh I find that I click way more bottoms when I play rev whereas many classes just slowly use their long cd skills on cd.
the thing is… you could get 80-90% of your efficiency by just pushing 1 and afking instead.
if that’s the reason, why buff thief? There’s plenty video on reddit with thief spamming same auto attack and achieve higher DMG than rev now, and that’s ok?
My feedback is about how feedback actually works.
It’s great you guys ask for feedback. I really do appreciate that. However if you hang out in the forums long enough you start to feel that the feedback isn’t going anywhere. This needs to be more of an ongoing and reciprocal conversation. Out of our feedback I would expect a post addressed to the player base saying " We heard you on the following points, we will be looking into them as resources allow. [followed by a list of points]." Then perhaps later or with the same post: “Points 3,7,12, and 15 are going to be a higher priority for us. Points 5,8, and 9 may not be something that is possible. Again this information is tentative and subject to change.”
I understand the player base takes things literally so you have to be carful what you say. But it feels like we have all these threads about good feedback and very little comes out of them. I’m not sure what this disconnect is but it has become apparent to anyone that frequents the forums.
If you read this I genuinely thank you for your time and thank you for making a great game. I hope we can work together to keep it that way.
I understand your thoughts, and perhaps we will be able to do that for some topics in the future; I agree it would be great! But what’s important to note is that we all — as forum members — have a certain level of visibility into our how feedback is handled simply by our participation here on the forums and our involvement in the game.
Here’s what I mean: I’ve seen the request for “gliding in central Tyria” hundreds of times on the forums. I’ve heard it in the game a hundred times, too! So when I see it come to the game, as a player and a forum member I know that ArenaNet listened to player/forum member feedback. I don’t need someone to come and tell me that, I can actually see it in the update notes and in the game.
So while I’m not discounting — believe me, I would be absolutely the last person to discount the potential or the value of further communication; trust me on that!
— I like to think of an old expression that my granny said, “The proof is in the pudding.” In this case, take that odd expression to mean that we, as players and forum members, can see through actual game development that the feedback that we give is being read, reviewed, analyzed, and often implemented!
Again I do love communication, and I positively adore when devs post, or when they ask me to post on their or their team’s behalf. But I’m also aware that communication comes through many forms, including that demonstration through actual game changes. And because of that, I like the idea of productive threads like this, which you should know will be shared with every single member of the ArenaNet team as highly-suggested reading.
Anyway, I hope that makes sense. It’s just a personal opinion, but I like to think it has a certain logic.
no,
you are just dodging the real problem that many are trying to “communicate” to your team, is that the communication tends to be one way and inconsistent. You guys choose WHEN to post or reply, with no priority on how trivial or important the topic is. Mentioning the “gliding central Tyria” is just a cop out way of showing you guys tackled a “low hanging fruit” request, while there are many, more serious issues that should’ve allocate more resources to address. Look at all the Anet post replies since HOT, why is the WvW sub forum lack any serious communication? When something that had a reply from an ANet team, it never was the most important issues that the WvW community wanted. THis is just one example, I am sure there are many that other’s can pointed out for other game mode in GW2.
Now, for the last time, I will bite on this feedback request thread, hopefully it’s nothing more than just a cover up to be able to show “see, we did ask for feedbacks” but ends up with no much replies afterward from the team.
Here’s my 2 main issues, 2 classes that got over nerfed:
Mesmer – please read this thread by Lord Helseth, he’s a pro player and your balance team “should” know his name:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/LordHelseth-on-post-Mesmer-nerfs/first#post5957099
Thief was buffed because ANet’s vision for the class is about damage. WHat about Mesmer and the Chronomancer elite spec? What’s ANet’s vision. Alacrity was sold to as what makes Chrono unique, now with the nerf that Elite spec is rather weak and somewhat meaningless. The best suggestion I’ve seen is allow the original alacrity duration to be applied to Mesmer self, but outgoing alacrity to other can be the nerfed duration.
Revenant – I feel like the class was overnerfed, on top of the massive bugs this class still has. I feel like the class was used as a marketing tool to sell HOT, now that has been accomplished, it’s time to pull the plug on the class. Why all the nerfs when the class still have tons of bugs, more so than other classes? I urge you to communicate with the balance team to check out sub forum, there are plenty to read there.
And not to mention how they deleted eles too lol
The fact ele was part of the meta for so long, I think no one would shed a tear. But the hate for Mesmers because they were meta for once is super unreal.
Even if you are a higher skilled ele, necro can beat you due to sheer sponge HP.
And before this patch, even if you were a higher skilled necro, any diamond skin ele could beat you with his eyes closed. Why is it only not ok now?
Wrong,, pre patch all you had to do was go deathshroud and spam 1 for might stacks, soon as the eles below 90% boon corrupt with condi pressure and watch them melt, most eles especially will waste all their defensives to stay above 90%, so as soon as they drop its even an easier win
Wrong. You were facing bad eles who didn’t know how to manage their cd’s. Good eles didn’t die to necros
This is besides the point guys, thats in the past. We just want a solution for the future.
If people actually want this game to be fun, it needs to be balanced. And theres only Us the community who can make it go smooth or rough.Im not asking for perfect balance. I think noone is. (we can all dream amiright) But atleast make classes killeable by other classes.
I’m all for balance. I just don’t want to see a bunch of nerf necro threads that lead to them being gutted just like ele. Right now it’s just an unhealthy overbuff overnerf cycle.
But it’s ok for Mesmers to be gutted? Cant be so biased.
Reason why you see more thiefs is simply because all the thief players could not play their main profession during the season because it was so weak compared to others there.
the fact is. thief was part of past metas many many times, and so was ele. What anet did to Mesmer is very unreasonable. Chrono Bunker is also not what the mesmer community wanted for a viable build in competitive league, but we had no better options.
Im with OP, I met a legendary rank player yesterday who got there solely by playing berserker, mesmer and ele are still viable, so what if your old OP meta isn’t OP anymore, move on.
This balance update is much better than the last one for sure !
mesmer and ele are still viable? Did season 2 start already? Let see what happens when real ranking play starts.
And you’re engi main… LOL.
Not enough condi cleanse.
…
Yup, that’s pretty much it.DPS builds are not for Rangers. We do not bring burst. Neither mobility to rotate out of harm’s way, nor do we bring utility of a mesmer.
We have pets with nice burst and such. That automatically means that you have part of the damage you are looking for already there, and you don’t have to become glasscannon to achieve what you are searching for.
hi,
you’ve been pretty critical on few people’s builds since patch, do you have any better alternative than what those other guys have posted? I’m not doubting your knowledge, just curious what build(s) you have tried so far that you think will be effective for the upcoming season.
I was lazy and went celestial armor and will tweak with accessories. Seems to work with just about everything I’ve done so far.
Have you done any raiding with cele set? How does it work out for you?
thanks guys. I think Berserker stats + swapping trinkets is the best option for me now, cant really afford Zealot yet.
hi all,
I have tried to do a search on the forum and reddit, but I got limited answers to my concerns and questions so I decided to post the question here.
I am looking to make my first ascended set, mostly a PvX player looking to play more on druid after Anet nerfed my main Mesmer to the ground.
Here are my questions:
- I know Zealot set is best for druid that wants to do raid (only killed first boss on Mesmer), would it be possible to achieve the same with Berserker set + cleric trinkets?
- Alternative to Zealot set: Berserker, Marauder, Cleric, Magi, or Celestial?
- How much healing power to aim for?
- Staff + GS or Staff + LB?
- What runes or sigils (I’ve read monk is best, but dont think I will go through AC to get them)
thanks in advance.
good and skill-based class:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/42wokp/thief_after_126_balance_patch_d/
haha.
Good:
Chrono
Revenant/ Herald
haha, very funny…
This is what Anet doesn’t want, they don’t want every single person playing this game to always shift to whats considered OP, they want this game to be as diverse as possible, although it may not always seem like it.
Here is where you are wrong. If Anet wanted to have such diversity, they wouldn’t overnerf and overbuff a couple of professions as they have been doing for a long time. If anet wanted to achieve the closest possible of diversity, they would work on balance to bring the most professions as possible to the meta, instead of only 3 or 4 out of 9.
They have been doing lazy patches trying to fix symptoms instead of the real problem. As long as they keep doing that, will keep destroying the diversity. It is way past time to the devs to sit down, learn how professions works, split pvp and pve and go review all the skills, traits, sigils, amulets, weapons from core to elite and bring an harmony and balance between them instead of silly fixes that only annoys players.
A good player who have the best game interest in mind, will drop any vendetta or silly biased hatred over a profession just because counters theirs and will claim for a balanced game where all or almost all professions are viable to play.
That’s what some has been doing, the overnerfs were unnecessary and poor handled. Instead of shaving the boon spam, they buff necros; bunker meta was boring, get rid of any single bunker amulet and buff damage from already high damage dealing professions. They announce the new diamond skin but “forgets” to include an important detail it only works when struck. People complain about the lack of viability of different builds, like in case bunker ele, they nerf bunker ele giving absolutely nothing to make up for it. They said the elite specs wouldn’t be stronger than the core but here we are. It is lazy, it is bad and it is making the credibility of this game go down the drain.
People don’t want to drop their professions because, in a certain way, anet said: let’s trash that profession now for, at least 4 months, make it hardly playable. We want things to be balanced and fair and be able to play with the professions we like, not what anet decided to overbuff for the time being to stay competitive.
I think you misunderstood the point i was trying to make. I DO believe that Anet is trying to make this game 100% balanced and have every profession have a 50% win chance against every other profession, however this is definitely not something that is easy to do.
Ultimately what I was trying to say here is that the community needs to stop focusing on what is considered “OP” or not and just be constructive with what can be done in the current state of the game.
I 100% agree with you
I want the game to get to that state to, we’re just not there yet if we ever will be…
where were you in the bunker meta? The mesmers could’ve use your help to tell the community to stop focusing on what is considered “OP” or not and just be constructive with what can be done in the current (or previous in reference to the bunker meta) state of the game.
Anybody got a link to his build? Does the new patch affect his build in anyway?
lol why would people delete level 80 toons? Dont you know its the “circle of life”. what is underpowered now will be OP at some point? I certainly did not delete my level 80 war and thief when they were underpowered last season.
not all classes are made the same nor perceived the same by Anet and the PvP community. Both warrior and thief class have been in meta longer than quite a few other classes.
and i got my kitten handed to me the first two games
until i decided to Check the snap cast to target box
then i was rolling my index finger through 1 to 5 over and over and collecting free kills
how can necro claim they have a speck of skill when they basically exploit an aimbot that makes them land aoe groudn skills automatically its ridiculous how easy i was slapping people with condies.
agree 100%.
Tons of crying for the bunker meta to go away because lack of skill, as if this changed anything. Anet is an epic fail of a company.
If I were to play PvP, I’d play Mesmer because it’s the class I enjoy. It’s a nonissue though, as I’ll be playing something else instead.
Same. Already catching on my huge back log of single player games, still debating on jumping into BnS, but I heard there is que just to log in to play?
Its comforting to know Mesmers are fine in hot join and unranked… Lol.
Sad… but meta is now decide by Anet nerfed… and it should be decided by players choice and builds.
no, the meta is not decided by the ANet, it’s by the sPvP community. Whoever cry the loudest and gather the most to share their conviction force Anet to make nerfs.
You just have to repeat what was done, now the meta will be reapers and thieves, time to gather around and cry and moan until they are nerfed. I intended to make sure they get a taste of their own medicine (those why cried for nerfs and changes).
So because others have it worse, it should make what we got alright and we should lower our expectations of the game?
What a kitten logicNo, that’s not what I said at all.
But you demonstrate the problem really well, if unwittingly. People have issues distinguishing more than a binary state of content. Either you’re happy, or WTFANET"§$“§$XC”!X. There’s no in-between.
Yet actually, there’s a lot of granularity to issues in games, or even a lack of issues. If all we do is always yell at the top of our lungs – which we (as in, “we” the players) do – then ANet won’t actually know when something they did is worse than something else, as there’s no way to tell this apart.
Plus, as with most things, they get used to the effect. “Ignore the forums, people will cry anyhow” is a common thing said about games and especially about MMOs, after all.So yes, changes are bad. But they’re not bad enough to warrant the overdramatization of “gg, delete mesmer” or “mesmer RIP 2016” and so on. That’s pretty pointless, and only serves to … actually, doesn’t really do anything.
or players here could simply check mes history and see if it was out of meta for years .answer is yes .but as long as anet is doing all those stupid knee jerk “balance” .shouting loud or leaving game are actually helping little than thinking positive for no reasons .
Do you consider your idea of "overdramatization " is something else like the past facts?
also what’s bad enough for you ? since that mes is gutted entirely in pvp and also doing pathetic damage in pve ,having little for wvw group rather than veil bot ,all those are not bad enough for u ? how about thieves are hard counter entire mes class for 3.5 years and anet just made it even worse ? how about our illusions always die in aoe spam in pvp and its worse now since power creep and anet refused to fix it ,they were trying to help this with chrono line but heavy nerfed it to ground .
it has been more than 3 years whle mes takes more effort in pvp if not most but get least reward .the only really op specs we had were mantra build after trait patch for like 2 weeks ,bunker mes after hot for 3 months . any other classes have their op time longer than mes.
it’s not bad enough for u get ganked by a thief hopelessly in like 2 secs ? should it be in 1 sec so you can feel the truly ugly reality and how it is different from the "not so bad "patch
This.
The alacrity change was a good one, as it did too much for the duration you could get. It is honestly MUCH easier to balance around alacrity that isn’t as powerful (although I don’t know if 50% reduction was right). The problem is that they didn’t also then change the balance of everything with alacrity to compensate.
Even more, they probably should have nerfed alacrity by 50%, and then nerfed EVERY elite spec by about as much to reverse the stupid amounts of power-creep ruining the game.
Agree 100%.
Thank you for the balance patch job well done. It was needed in PvP as it was getting very stale will be nice to see how things change.
People called for changes and you turned the meta on its head.
hello, alt account from a thief main…
light the ship on fire, then jump ship.
Pls tell me how class balance is broken when it hasn’t been a day since patch release? How would you know? Did you just assume since Mesmers can’t be played while making a sandwich anymore that classes are broken? Matchmaking is getting fixed next season too so idk why ur whining about that.
My first reaction without checking post history is that you must be a thief player… And I was right. Nuff said.
Nah us Thieves asked for sustain buffs not damage, Anet spits in our face and laughs giving damage but we still get hit as if we are wet paper bags. Idk why Mesmers got nerfed as hard it’s stupid, the quickness Rez/stomp was a big enough nerf, in itself with the amulets removed as well. I think Anet Devs just don’t have and finesse with Balance
hey man,
thanks for a fair assessment, especially from a thief class that hard counter the Mesmer all the time.
— I like to think of an old expression that my granny said, “The proof is in the pudding.” In this case, take that odd expression to mean that we, as players and forum members, can see through actual game development that the feedback that we give is being read, reviewed, analyzed, and often implemented!
