There is a way to avoid being stomped/killed that has been around since the start although the effectiveness of it before wasn’t great due to the volume of players on servers, now after the patch several months back and less players it can be achieved more easily. To be honest about it i’m not sure why people bother with things like this as to me it’s like cheating when you play patience(you’re only cheating yourself). Publicly mentioning it will only make more people aware of it hence me being vague not that it’s a secret, but it’s something Anet should address although i’m not sure what they can do about it.

Piken Square is the birthplace of most of the top EU guilds, a place where we all play for fun and to improve ourselves.

Piken Square has always and will always play for the fun, unlike most servers we aren’t PPT focused. We have had zero queues since season 1 so there is always plenty of room, we make up for the lack of people with much better gameplay. We are one of only a couple of servers that plays in groups rather than the blob servers like every other EU international server. There are always loads of friendly people to play with as we are a mature server with zero trolls/idiots unlike most other servers.

Right at mo i can’t check, but yeah if i remember right gold ones are commendation bought and blue are the upgrade ones. Nope they aren’t account bound(or if they are drop them and picking up will remove it like it used to with soulbound siege).

One you get for commendations the other is a guild upgrade buff.

You don’t have to type it in. Just click on it an scroll your mouse wheel up or down.

If it is a bug then it’s been like it for 6+ months. That particular npc vendor has only offered lvl 70 exotics since they added the gold + badge armours. I don’t remember the exact date of the patch but you might want to look at the patch notes for that day to see if it was intended.

There have been several but Anet delete them almost as soon as they appear. Like the thread with screenies of FSP guild Balkan Legion [SFRJ] exploiting hacks into Piken Garrison 2 days ago, was up on forums 5 mins before it got deleted. The 2nd thread with them lasted 3 mins before it was deleted.

Not sure on the changes. All i know is i tossed in 100 rare runes yesterday to upgrade and didn’t get a single superior back, now i know it’s rng but i’ve never had a bad patch like that.

The only way to get an FSP/GH/PS matchup would be for all 3 servers to just focus Gandara when we face them, but none of the 3 servers would actually do this. This season was looking to be great for fights but due to Gandara having a gold league pop now(not really the original Gandarans fault), it’s turned silver league into nothing more than a few good fights for 2 servers with the 3rd server having to wait their turn for a week.

Well if you go into the fractal entrance you’re leaving the area so has no relevance. As for dungeon vendors, do you really use them that often that you need them right beside everythng else because it’s so difficult to click a button.
You’re complaining just for the sake of complaining. Anet did what they said, they moved everything to the Vigil keep that was unique to LA. Is it their fault you’re too lazy to click a button to go somewhere to get something you need.
Why don’t you stop moaning and start being proactive. Now is your chance to decide where they move everything to, they are letting the players choose where the next hub will be so make a case for somewhere that has everything laid out better.

Yes there is, it’s 1 click away and returns you to the exact same spot you were in before……just go to your home borderland in WvW.

In one of the interviews it was implied/inferred they were letting the community choose where the new hub would be, they didn’t want to force people into one. So wherever the majority of people congregate will probably end up being the new hub city then Anet will add the essentials there.

People aren’t aware of how a Swiss tournament works, it does all depend on how Anet implements it. But if done correctly it doesn’t guarentee Viz/BG victory because if they can’t beat their closest opponents by enough points but servers lower than them score massive point victories over their opponents then they can win despite not having the same coverage.
It will be interesting to see the exact system of the Swiss tournament that Anet uses.

If you read John’s post he said in the time it took for him to read your OP, which is about 20 seconds. So you telling me 20 people managed to craft all that stuff, you put down in 20secs.
136,909 items destroyed in 20 secs…….
So i think yes 20 people could have been making ascended during that time frame or there were 70,000 people making 2 items for their ascended stuff. Then just multiply that by the hours in the day….(cba to do maths, just a really large number)
You have to look at the whole thing not just pick apart something that benefits your argument.

Iirc in GW1 there was a difference in prices(yeah i know gems weren’t available). Many players from the US used to complain that they had to pay $10 for a char slot, but EU players only payed €8. So why change the system so the EU players lose out more, yes economics play a part but the discrepency is still there.

Same happened for Piken Square, think also ER and Kodash had the same but not sure as they just zone blob everywhere at night so move around a lot in one 80 man group.

I think he means random in EOTM only, I would hope that all the green servers would not be put together in EOTM, that would be obviously unbalanced. Colors represent the place you finished the week before in regular WvW for those that are not aware of that fact.

That fact is no longer a fact and hasn’t been for 9months or so. You are obviously not aware of the patch notes from Anet back then, when they randomised the matchups they also randomised the colour you will be. Yes sometimes you can get stuck with a particular colour for a few weeks, thats rng.
Matchup colours are not tied to your previous weeks performance anymore. It’s random who will be on each others team in EotM.

In the current LS, people are asking “How can Scarlet build that?” Not only are they questioning where she gets her resources, but where she could build things as large as the Twisted Marionette and the flying machine above it.

Well, here’s your answer. She’s been accessing lands within the mists.

We’ll have to forgive the fact that this means she’s (once again) able to do something nobody else can do by freely creating access to new lands within the mists. In this case, it’s one more bit of Mary Sue-ness that actually works to fill a gaping plot hole. Now we know where she’s been getting her resources (thus the Watchwork mining pick that went on sale a week before this update) and where she’s been building all her toys. In the mists.

I’m going to guess that we go to the Edge of the Mists to cut off her access to the parts of the mists that she’s using. Her story is wrapping up, now’s the point where we cut off her supply routes, what she has on Tyria is enough to make it through two more updates. Meanwhile, we’ll never actually see the lands in the mists that she’s been more heavily exploiting, so they can be reintroduced as a plot point for a later LS.

I think the lore for the mists should be read, it makes life easier to explain things.

I think it’s in part simply to stop bots farming them if they remain in the same location forever. It’s also not totally random each node only has a limited amount of places it can appear. There are an abundant source of all of them so not a challenge to find, the rarer ones it usually only takes 2-3 hours before they’re mapped out on – http://gw2nodes.com/

You can also get a portable crafting station from the guild buffs and buy them with guild commendations. Personally i don’t think theres a need to add yet another item to the loot table for rewards when these things are so easy to get but don’t have much use.

Anet had a plan for something like this way back when in 2011. They called it a “megaphone”(iirc) and it was supposed to be able to send server wide messages, they even told us that it would have a long cooldown to avoid spam with the obvious cost of having to buy them. What actually happened to this idea i don’t know, but something along these lines would be very handy for things.

It’s the guy stood infront of him, on the view all enemies you can see he’s in the guild [hot]. But when selected his guild tag vanishes still displaying the name of the guild.

Slomo matey just take it as a bug and don’t stress it too much(bug report it to anet if ya see it again).

lol I think SFR have a rivalry with every server, they hate them all. They rarely say anything nice about anyone but themselves.

We have people from all timezones playing in the EU an they suffer no extra latency from playing EU rather than NA. In fact quite a lot from Aus/NZ/US/Asia say the game is much better because there is less server lag for them as there is not the same amount of stacking in the EU as there is in NA.

Piken has always had a harmonious relationship between guilds and friendlies. Some guilds allow people to follow them some would prefer you don’t, it’s down to each guild to decide. This discussion has been had before on our forums and you are welcome to start a new one, nothing is censored on Piken forums as there has never been a need.
As always if a guild asks you not to follow you should respect their wishes, they in turn are more willing and receptive to helping you. Antagonising them just makes a situation worse and they’re less likely to help.

Lol i remember those few weeks, it was mostly a good natured rivalry. It wasn’t any guilds that transferred to us it was our original guilds that came back from their xmas breaks, at that time we relied so much on them an it was felt by us when they all broke up for the 2/3 weeks over xmas. We in Piken still look back fondly on that matchup, so many good guilds on all 3 servers.

Sorry but that statement is totally false and inaccurate in every way. My server plays for fights, never for points and never has. We don’t watch the PPT to maximise crap we just all go out and smash the enemy to pieces enjoying ourselves, capping structures happens either coz we have no enemy and are bored for 5mins or because our enemy is hiding inside and has to be coaxed out(even when they outnumber us 2v1).
Our community is one of the nicest, friendliest ones going. Everyone of us care about the server. The bigger picture for us is are we having fun and is everyone working well together as a community. We couldn’t care less if we lose a fight or match as long as we’ve had some fun.

Oh and we’re number 3 ranked server not that it matters much to us. So that thought that floated through your head about a low ranked server doesn’t mean a thing. Your problem is you think everything is this big competiton that has to be won at all costs or you’re a loser, that is so far from the truth but until you realise that you’ll always be angry and mixed up.

We almost took it this morning 15 of us against 30-40 Viz, half capped it 3 times (stupid banner res!) before they just overwhelmed us(it was T3 and fully sieged up). I was just having a bit of fun and was checking to see if Viz were still alive and awake. I guess that means the “alliance” is over now :P

We have no need to pay for guilds. All the guilds that have joined Piken in the past have come here because of our servers ideals about playing for fun and enjoyment over anything else. We’ve turned down so many guilds because they wouldn’t fit in with Pikens playstyle and attitude. Plus role players……role play, they don’t have any gold to pay for their drinks in the tavern let alone for a guild to come here.

About the piken guys i can give u a full list of interests to lie: one is that they just hate SFR, another is the league is badly scheduled cause Piken faced Vizunah 3 times and Jade Sea only one so even losing by Piken JS could reach the 3rd place or even the 2nd togheter with SFR (OMG this became true). The Only hope for Piken was waiting Vizunah focus for SFR and take the opportunity to the 2nd place in 1st and last matchup on the contrary accepting such an offering they would finish 3rd in both MU so losing general points.
I’m not saying this is a lie maybe they are bad informed or a guy from SFR really did it but not representing anyone…i take that as cheating..one doesn’t make the server. You as leader of an alliance should have take contacts with pevepe and ask our point of view.

There was no reason for us to lie about anything, we do not hate SFR in any way. We actually feel a bit sorry for you for needing the validation of winning so bad that you’re willing to try every trick and cheat in the book. Oh and one of the guys names is actually the same name as an alliance team member. All this evidence was passed onto another on the team and it’s down to them/you to sort it out, not us, not Troma/Viz.

OH well, i finally got what you mean

We were well aware about the “double focus” we was about to face in the last matchup and in order to couter that the best solution we comes up with was to force PS in third spot on week 5 in order to let em have the only choice to try beat VZ on week 6-7 in order to improve their rating.

That was discussed internally in SFR and was supposed to be a strategy.

I was personally considering to go ask officially at PS but then i did not and ofc i never offered even a single gold in exchange, but you know lot of guilds from SFR played on PS and vice versa so there should be some contacts between due to the fact most of us know each others.

Your strategy would possibly have worked if it was any other server(not saying other servers would accept), but Piken doesn’t play and organise itself like most other servers. We have tried to tell everyone so many times before, to us the rank and ppt doesn’t really mean a thing to us. it helps us maintain the place we are but we don’t go out trying to get that place. It’s a byproduct of the way we play, which is for the fun of fights.
There was no discussion between Viz and PS, we both were aware of each others likely strategy because we know how the other plays. Neither of us would consider asking the other server for help in any way for the simple reason we respect each other too much to do something so underhanded. We enjoy playing against each other because both servers players are fun to fight and honourable.
Yes we have quite a few guilds that have moved from PS to SFR and vice versa, so we do have quite a few people in contact with each other. Your alliance team has all the info it needs, as far as Piken is concerned you guys will(or not) sort it out, but it’s nothing we’re going to worry about now.

The 1st time you left we had no queues apart from EB it wasn’t until you came back and brought 4/5 guilds with you that the queues got out of hand.

Empyre that may be your view but it’s not the view of the majority on Piken. If i remember correctly you(RG) left Piken because we cared more about the fights than the PPT. Now i don’t think you really have much of a clue whats going on with Piken or you would know the heart of Piken is still what is was when the server 1st started.

@ Dondarrion: You obviously don’t read that well but i will say it again, all evidence was given to your alliance team. What they do with it is up to them. As far as Piken is concerned it’s over and done with. As for attacking Troma over an issue SFR caused Piken, there is no need for it. Troma is one of the most respected and upstanding guys on these forums. If you still have issue with it i suggest you ask your alliance leaders not other servers.

I have words on that. Since nobody wants to come out with names, not even in private, I say that it’s a canadian-level myth or 2-3 guys that did the whole thing on their own.

This information has already been passed on to the SFR alliance team along with the 2 videos this week of SFR players caught using hacks(not the ac thing that can be disputed). As far as Piken is concerned once the information has been handed over it’s down to your guys to clean your own house. Theres no need to shout about it on the forums. I was passing on the vids when i got asked for screenies relating to the “bribe” incident, which i duly passed on as the guys seemed interested in sorting the issues out. If you’d like to know they also said they’ll be looking into the whole TS fiasco that we have every time we play SFR (it’s only when we play your server that it goes down at the worst possible moments, 5/6 times a night).
If you wish to hear any more about it i suggest you contact you alliance team to find out how they’re sorting it out.

Ever since i’ve played MMO’s for the last 10 years i have always made sure when it comes to xmas time i reward all my guildees, by giving them gifts. Small tokens of my appreciation for their loyalty and great company. Now over the years through a few games this has been challenging on how to distribute the items to over 250 members. It has always involved a lot of work. I was wondering if it is any way possible to create a “bag”(present) type item which i could put some trinkets in(i know we have player mails but the limit on repeating and sorting it all out is a lot of extra work). This present could be bought through guild influence or merits(or even cash/karma(too exploitable this way i think) it would have a 1 time open use and would only exist for 1 week(have a timer like siege in WvW(again to avoid any sort of exploit involving creating extra storage space)). I personally would love it if Anet was able to create something like this(not just for xmas but b’days and such). It’s nice to get stuff in the mail but everyone loves to get a present! the thrill of seeing whats inside when you open.

Just a thought or idea, if nothing comes of it i will still spend several hours over xmas making sure i put a smile on my guildees faces.

I could but as i said to Wolf as far as i’m concerned as long as it doesn’t become a problem then it can just stay as a laughable matter. All the people involved have been told a big fat no deal, so unless that changes or they start to harrass members of our community the info stays out of the public eye. Take what we say with a pinch of salt by all means, this is the internet after all.

@ Wolf: Don’t worry about it too much, Piken wouldn’t ever agree to this sort of thing anyway. There have been far bigger names who have tried to force/coerce Piken into doing things that the majority don’t want to do. We just ignore it mostly(laugh amongst ourselves too, but who wouldn’t??). If it happens again(next season i guess) then sure i think we could agree to that in the hopes it gets rid of undesirables. Some guys just wanted to make you aware of how far some of yours are willing to push winning, i was just confirming it because Baal was denying anything like that.
At the end of the day it’s just a game we play for fun, we don’t need to get all serious about it.

Edit: @ Baal, you didn’t read what i posted twice now, don’t make it 3 or you will start to look even more stupid. Piken was focusing Viz, nowhere in that statement did i say we were taking more points off them. We fought Viz more but scored more points off you because you’re useless at defending compared to Viz and Viz are far better at fighting open field than you are. You are so points obsessed that you think thats what focus means, now remember this please PIKEN PREFERS OPEN FIELD FIGHTS NOT PPT so when we choose a focus it’s for fighting not for scoring points.

The way you worded it is the same way every SFR player words it, like it’s something that affects them alone. The first week PS did not focus VS, they focused SFR. On this site http://gw2wvw.org/?region=2&tier=1 you could have checked that PS focused SFR 66% and only 34% VS. That means you went for us twice as much. Yet again this week you say it JUST looks like you focus AR more, while the statistics say its almost 80% on AR, and only 20% on vizu. Thats 4 times as much.

Maybe try to read what i said again, i know generally people on SFR don’t understand it but i’ll repeat it in hopes the words might get through this time. We focused on Viz in the 1st week not SFR, our server enjoys fighting open field more not capping towers/keeps so we fight with Viz……have some fun……wipe or wipe them…..then in the time between the fights we go cap towers/keeps. It just so happens that Viz know how to protect thier stuff whereas your server like the majority of others, doesn’t(Piken included).
So…….heres the important part………we get a majority of our points off other servers coz they cannot defend properly but have better open field fights with Viz so we always make sure we can get a good fight and in the downtime cap something to keep everyone moving and interested(quick in and out, job done then for the fun of a fight with a decent opponent).
Piken has always played for the fun of fights not for capping stuff or watching our ppt like other servers seem to. It’s something servers like yours has never understood.

Great fights are not necessarily bound to numbers on each side. It is just about how the fights are played. And you are not there yet (no great moves, strategics we have encountered) to entertain the other side even if you win or lose the fight.

Well that just goes to show that either you haven’t played the game long or don’t really know many people on Piken that have been here for more than 2 months. Piken has had the majority of the top guilds in GW start on and play on our server at one point or another. The reason i mention this is because Piken worked it’s way from the bottom to the top purely on fighting better than the other servers we met(yes we win and lose matches too), all through that rise through the ranks over the few months we never once played for the points. We never will(at least i hope we never turn out that way).

I will say in all the times we’ve faced SFR i have seen a group of 20-30 players(guild group or not)maybe 20 times(this is while running around in a party of a few or as my guild of 20). Now from servers like ER/JS/BB/RS/AR/Viz i see that in the space of a couple of days usually just 1 day. Maybe i’m just very very unlucky and have never been on at the same time as these small group players or maybe it was the wrong border……chance is a wonderful thing.

We have been approached by several members of you community/hierachy to help them beat Viz, yes the trolls have been at it too but also several “well respected” members of your community are too. We have turned down/ignored them all even when they offered to give us 50g a piece(commanders only that is)to help them, not entirely sure how serious that guy was but as he’s not a known troll and is a prominent member of your community i’m not sure. Whatever…… Piken will do as we always do, play the game for fun fights and not worry about wether we have enough ppt for some pixels.

No matter what happens the last week I rally hope that either BB or JS takes place 3, because they deserve it more than PS who always took the easy path. I do NOT hate PS players (I have friends over there) but I do not agree with the methods of their leaders/community. I really hope that will change in the future and good fights can occur between SFR and PS more than it did this season.

If as you say you have friends on Piken then you will know about our server, it’s the RP server. We worked together to take ourselves from r22 to r2 in EU ladder, now this is without any mass recruitments(we have even asked people not to come here when they enquire). Why did we make it so high in the rankings, well it’s because as a server we have always agreed to play for fun we never really worry about the score it’s a byproduct of us trying to get decent fights(a few obviously are the opposite but play with us and still get what they crave). Piken has always worked as a community which agrees to do things certain ways, we have always gone for the strongest opponent in a matchup(more/better fights). The 1st week in the season we were focused on fighting Viz not SFR, you guys just happen to be in the wrong place at the right time(for us that is(we also had the “PvE” players come play enmasse, 4 hour queues that 1st week).
Piken does not take the easy path because there is no challenge in it, this week it looks like we are more focused on AR but that just because their stuff is easy/quick to take in the breaks between fighting Viz.
We have great fights between every other server, the only servers that never lived up to being “great” are SFR and Deso mainly due to the way they are so point focused and never run in groups of less than 50+.
We will finish the season where we finish it, it doesn’t really matter too much to the majority of us on Piken as we’ve had some good fun in this inaugural season.
As for the final week we shall play it as we always do, for fun not to worry about what the score is. We will not accept any request or bribe from SFR to deliberately team up against Viz, so you guys can stop asking about it.

You can add your own music to GW2 so you can have anything you want playing(within the set parameters).

Coverage isn’t everything, yeah sure it helps a lot but when those people playing aren’t very good then it doesn’t matter if you’re outnumbered. Any of the top 5 EU servers could beat the top NA server. The reason for this is down to the way EU servers operate, we have 3 top national servers and 2 international servers. This means each server generally has the best groups of people playing on it.
Now people say its coverage that wins and while to an extent that is true you are forgetting it’s the quality of the coverage that matters not the numbers. My server has often been outmanned 3/4 – 1 for 8-12 hours a day yet can still maintain a ppt higher than the other 2 servers. This is because it’s something we’re used to so have become very good at overcoming the odds and using our full potential, whereas most of the “top” servers around have remained at the top so never had a need to develop their skills beyond a certain point.
While i have personally not played on NA servers i am friends with quite a few people who are or have been and the majority of them agree the quality of play on EU compared to NA is far better. This is not to diminish NA players in any way but how can they expect to get any better when they don’t play against the best against the odds. The only way to get better is to play someone who is better than you.

Please don’t, we already have primetimes queues of nearly 2 hours. We have no need for people in primetime as we are always the dominant server with our guilds, it’s just offpeak hours when we’re outmanned that we get beaten on.
