IMO the only bosses that were actually buffed are the first spider and the troll. I’ve only done AC twice since patch but at least now I see someone dying on the first boss, for the first time ever, since it was a ridiculous fight (but for, oddly enough, those hatchling spitting you to death if you were brainafk). Troll is plainly stronger with that fear-chaindaze-earthquake thing, which is the only thing I’d like to see slightly tuned down out of being pretty annoying.
Skelk bosses are probably actually easier once you got the new tactic. But I don’t think they’re actually funnier (except for IMMASHOOTINGMAHLAZERS’ boss and funny Ghostbusters moments) since everything’s hp pool has been nerfed.

Oh, and Stalkers, they’re annoying too, but, you know, “big red circle = dodge the hell away” rule still stands. At least Leapers don’t munch your face off anymore and that’s a relief.

But hey, a Charr doesn’t need two perfectly functioning eyes! Does it?

Meh. I have all professions, almost all of them at 80, none of them with even one piece of ascended gear.
Now, imagine a number between 0 and 1. That’s how much I care about ascended stuff.

More seriously, mesmer should win. It all depends on personal skill and utilities after all.
My 2 cents, lack of feedback or Mirror would force the mesmer to interrupt as possible, especially if he’s not traited/skilled for stealth, or to constantly avoid pet CC and such.

My charrs fill the selection screen, all of them, the huge blood warrior, the tiny engie, the small thief, actual toon size is not relevant. It seems just something about the game willing to fill the selection screen with a big shout “BEHOLD! A CHARR!”.

Which actually makes sense. I’m proud of my charrs.

- SE boots (but differences between boots on charr are actually difficult to spot anyway)

I had to make a female charr character for my thief, but only because I already have a big Blood legion brawler and a short Iron dude. Another male would have been boring.

Back in topic, yes, my human characters are medium height but even then I can’t fail to notice those tiny feet and go like :\ . On those max-height ‘imma-smash’ type warriors it’s even worse, they look like they’re can’t stand idle and fall like a tree.

I don’t understand all this hatred towards S.Stones XD I find it perfectly fine with a serious bit of condition damage when those 5 attacks are aoe and hit 5 different mobs/players. Like with Piercing Arrows or Barrage, or just melee with a GS or a trap (not sure S.S. works perfectly fine there applying the conditions, but it should).
Basically if you manage to spam it aoe it’s 25 bleeds on 5 different targets regardless of facing and such.

Agreed, all professions should have something. Maybe one single skill/combined effect* on a long cooldown, but still something. But giving that only to the Ranger would be unfair IMO.
*Like, Rangers using F2, Necros having a chance of breaking stealth when inflicting bleeding, Engies with burning, something like that maybe?
To tie the stealth-breaking feature to a single weapon/utility skill would force players to bring that one permanently in wvw/pvp to counter stealth even if that skill on its own doesn’t add benefit to their build. Also, any damage = uncloak would be a bit excessive, probably, especially if that includes every condition tick.

I wanted to vote for the Ceremonial Scimitar, but after that streak of expensive nob stuff I’ll just disappear in a cloud of purple smoke.

It shouldn’t. I agree with the first posts, it’d lead to some insane elitist behaviour, you know it would happen. There would surely be still nice players thinking “uh, I don’t see the point of his stats but hey, it’s his character, I’m confident he knows how to play it” and if he actually doesn’t know how to play it… that’s hardly something you can understand from the stats alone.
Same would happen with visible traits. Some guy doesn’t agree with what you’re doing with your traitline? Boom, you’re kicked. Even if you’re maybe the best insert profession around and he just can’t realize it but he’s sure you’re worse than him just by looking at your traits. Ugh.

Agreed, you could only inspetc someone’s skins. Which on their own tell almost nothing about where they were got from and you’ll probably end up pming the dude anyway.
Or someone’s total MF and AR. Which could be actually useful. But only those 2 stats, please.

I actually give my clones a pc each and we zerg together the world. When it’s about dinner time I shatter them all together because there’s no way I’ll cook dinner for 247 clones. Seriously, nerf their appetite.

SYS is a personal boon gain for the guardian though, I think the real boon gain for the party in that situation came from the Ele’s aura multiboon sharing (fury, swiftness, protection, elemental attunement one) and shouts like Stand your ground (retaliation and stability, works wonders with high-power parties O.O ) and Hold the Line (Prot-Regen). Plus, one of them maybe had 15+ points in Virtues and… more retaliation, more protection/might/regen. On top of that, a possible party-wide Might on crit from Empowering Might… 6/8 constant might uptime.

Just saying, if that Ele knew what he was doing, he was giving almost more boons than the guardians.

It works, about same crit chance as yours and it procs pretty much often on my D/Wh build, usually once per fight or something like that.
Didn’t think about what Ojimaru said tho. I can’t really check if that’s absolutely true because of the randomness of the sigil and the already quick dagger stabs. It should work tho on the first 2 stabs, IIRC the second is in fact instant and the third stab’s got a longer stab… so you should anyway have a marginal quickness gain. Shouldn’t you?

More levels would just mess up with equipment balancing, and more trait points would just lead to some overpowered builds.
Added regions from expansions don’t need to be lvl90 or something to be interesting. They could even be 30 or 40ish.

Toggle option, you mean much like Necro’s DS? That’d probably be a too ‘big’ mechanic for being a racial based one. Even if it’d be nice – and somewhat confusing for actual norn necromancers, I suppose.

I just realized how being a charr elementalist must be actually a pain. Air magic raising your hair, you have mud everywhere from using earth, you probably should use gloves for fire magic or you’ll be a wickercat soon and you’re probably a very angry wet cat right after being forced to heal yourself or your party. Ugh.

I still consider charr scholars to be a bit weird during a civil war against flame legion, I don’t really know where the hell charr guardians are supposed to summon that blue shiny stuff from, and well, finally I can’t see a charr ranger wandering around with a pig/hog/bird but for ‘later use’ when you get hungry.

It looks like your ears are ahead of the hood’s edge, so it looks mostly fine. The longer horns would have holes and such, so also fine.
It must be a pain to put the hood on in the first place tho. Or, a very elastic hood tissue.

It seemed to me mesmer’s damage scaled in a funny way through levels, hitting for wet paperballs until lvl20 and then raising constantly.
But still, I had fun with it from the start or I wouldn’t have played it at all. TBH, my actual mesmer is my second try in leveling the class, the first time I deleted it in frustration mostly because of the feeling about the scepter (boringboringboringboring). Leveled the second with GS/Sword-Sword or -Focus with defensive gear (yeah, you heard it) and sticked to it until I hit 80. It took ages until lvl40 to kill veterans (champions, pff. They died of boredom, mostly) but hell, everything died eventually.

Good point. We have poor access to most boons and stability on S.Armor would be nice, and I agree S.Wall as tricky as it is to use effectively should at least block projectiles if not even reflect them.

I want a sword. So badly. Even if it is a bit too much on the duelist side of the concept, which suits well the mesmer but not a pure caster as the elementalist.
Torch makes sense too.
A shortbow could be fine but we have frosty, which with a bit of skill tweaks would be perfect just as it is as a conjured weapon.

Combat-opening quotes are nice and unique tho. Like “Remember Ascalon!” “Remember Pyre!” or “Wa-hoo!” – well, this one’s bit odd. In-combat quotes could be better indeed tho. We probably need more roaring noises and less kitten-to-be-cuddled “I feel so… vulnerable…”.

Those kitten dragons are everywhere. We should form up a dredge flying battalion to fight this one.

The seal on that scroll must be very hard indeed to break.

And I also expected to find a Risen Forgal somewhere. I suppose there was not so much left to resurrect after his death. And a Risen Forgal’s Arm attacking you in a later encounter would have been too funny, or even something like a maimed Python’s Black Knight. That must be the truth of it or it wouldn’t make sense not to rise a ‘powerful norn warrior’ from death for Zhaitan’s further use.

Btw, I really blurted into laughter the first time when after the moving Forgal’s last stand speech, you can instantly see a Fallen Ally mark on the map on that spot. SO MUCH for the epic last stand fight.

Our Pact Commanders must be one of those kittens rising to success (in Trehearne’s shadow, wow) and forgetting everything about our previous friends, them being warband mates, city friends, salad friends and w/e.
I really loved hanging around with my charr warband, less so with Lord Faren Dandyboy but still ok, then, puff all gone and Trehearne all over the place, my friends probably got eaten by carnivorous salads to clear some space for some random guy who will probably die anyway or about whom you don’t give an absolute kitten.

When you find Useless’ Edge guys waiting for you outside Fort Trinity I was really like “Hey Rytlock/Logan, what about my warband/my noble fellas? I want to celebrate with them too” and they’re like “Uh, well, let’s talk about this another time”. Sad.

If they let thieves go all ninja-like inside keeps and towers I think I’ll just quit wvwing. I can already see numberless kids rushing towers and shouting “omg I’m Ezio Auditore trolol”.
Would be funny tho to see something massive and destroyable like a Warrior’s siege tower, or an engineer’s converted Cattlepult.

It happens on mine too. I suppose it’s something they did to spare resources in textures behind some close helmets.

Mantras… I recalled I had one with stability while doing that Metrica Province JP. Shelved again after that. Clunkiest stability in the game probably. The rest is garbage IMO, too expensive to trait well to gain something.
Arcane Thievery, used it a lot in the past, I gotta give it another chance in wvw.
Veil – Decoy over it because of the stunbreaking. Saved my shiny kitten so many times.

Signets: I’m currently trying Inspiration out but I think I’m going to shelf it soon. Those useful retaliation-aegis-swiftness are too random to get. Active effect might still be funny to double back boons on me on a boon-intensive party in pve.
Mimic: same as jazzlanna, I found it totally meh reading its tooltip (and I thought you actually blocked one projectile to throw it back, might have been funny with a Kill Shot but, you know… Feedback/traited focus), I suppose I’ll give it a shot.
iDudes: never ever thought of slotting them.

I could move those 30 points from Earth down to Water and Arcane, in which case the party would have definitely perma aura, and losing the passive signet effect. I could live with that for those short cooldowns.
And I did say D/D and 4 signets are not a permanent choice, whereas just a pve-roaming thing. And even there, when I know there’s no mob stunning me beyond a reasonable dodge chance. :P

That swap cd matter is something I’m way more concerned about. But well, I guess I’ll just give Fire’s Embrace a chance eventually.

Hi everyone, I have yet to hit 80 on my Ele but I was trying to plan a build involving something else than cantrips, because I don’t like the length of their cooldowns, even with them being all-powerful when traited.

I came up with this, mostly for a pve environment:

Basically it’s around Written in Stone and Fire’s Embrace, Adept traits else is highly situational, number of signets included, which I’d totally swap for a cantrip and/or a conjured weapon in dungeons.

I have yet to try it due to the lack of trait points, but I’m afraid it could lead to a general lack of defensive utilities (even with the mass blind/20sec from Signet of Air), while being fine in open pve for map completions and such.

A guildmate had some 25k hitting 100Bs in dungeons (HotW explo iirc, for level reference) with a berserker build, supposedly in 25 might-25 vulns situations. All stars aligned, so to say.
Mine own experience, highest 100Bs have been 12k against random zombies in Cursed Shore, running solo on a hybrid shout build. But well, I don’t use the GS in dungeons where things might get more ‘interesting’ :P .

I didn’t play GW1 but I had an instant feeling with them since my first character’s creation. I went for an engineer for their ‘good side’ and for a warrior for their beastly “I’m gonna spill your guts out and eat them on the spot if you make me nervous” side.
I still think charr are the best race in the game concept-wise.

Never noticed the sound you mention but DS4 will definitely hit stealthed targets in range; you can also take notice looking at the LF bar not dropping/raising.

The title WAS indeed midleading and that’s why I got here. Disappointing.
Doesn’t happen on my guardian, tho.

This might be personal because my first character was actually a charr engineer.

But:
- engineer style is all about makeshift-scotch-taped weaponry and gadgetry, much more charry than asura because of the total lack of their magitech or what’sthename.
- “Charr” is also pronounced as “steampunk”. There you go.
- Charr engie in SE armor and FT is a plus on itself.
- Awesome idle animations with both rifle/FT and pistols (especially this. That “bang” motion makes me smile everytime).
- And if you like background, we have a full legion about engineering. We might say, statistically, about one fourth of the charr population is engineer. And who do you actually think built the Death Star Black Citadel? Iron Legion wants you. Possibly w/ your flamethrower.

GEARS! CLANKY NOISES! MORE GEARS! USELESS OPEN-SKY FOUNDRIES!

The only pattern I can see is the one about people ragequitting and whining as soon as something maybe looking like a nerf touches their class/playing style. Even when it’s among the most effective and customizable professions around in the game.
Personally I wasn’t using SS nor any bug about shatters – I’m not sure which was it in detail even now, but that GCD must be there for a reason – but I still see the patch as a fix since SS was blatantly op.

I personally love marks but yes, autoattack is a tad slow.

In my experience with a soldier/knight/carrion equipped S/D-Staff Necro, this is by far the character I can handle thieves most easily out of 3 classes I play in wvw (others being engie and mesmer); I died like twice or thrice in 2 months in random 1vs1s against thieves, sometimes it was a close fight, much more often they ended up dead or shortbowing/stealthing their way out of combat.
Using Blood is power, Corrupt Boon and GreenAwkwardTrailofSwiftness (or what’s the name, anyway swapped for that speed signet since the buff it got, although I haven’t been playing my necro since then); golem for a free knockdown. Corrupt works wonders if the thief is one of those that pops that awful lot of buffs, or anyway if he goes in Daggerstorm to scare him away and stop being silly. GreenThing for a blink in the first 8 seconds and some life force gain; I agree with Luke about fearing him back during that nasty Skull fear or bombing the shadow refuge. Marks (traited for size in my case) are good anyway to keep him under pressure when the thief stealths outside Shadow Ref and is walking around – or to boobytrap your position if you’re just expecting his next attack and you don’t really know where he might be.
Really, I don’t want to pose as a pr0 or anything but when I was actively playing my necro in wvw I used to survive well enough in worst cases. Still, that pair of backstabbers managed anyway to instagib me into oblivion munching through my 26-27k hp like thin air. Going into DS won’t save you anyway if your actual hp pool has been already eaten away. :\
