As others have suggested let us brew our own booze. Add some karma recipes that we can buy, most of the items already exist, (alcohol aplenty, butter, apples, sugar, nutmeg, buttermilk, water, etc.) add some of the missing ones as karma items. It’ll be a good way to burn off karma if you want to keep it account bound or burn gold if it’s tradable.
We claimed our Guild Hall last night with a group of 18. One member had been trying with another guild that was much larger and wiped several times, but we did know what we were supposed to be doing. We set up 2 squads and went in for a “trial run” just to get an idea as to what was supposed to happen…and succeeded rather handily.
So yes, it does seem easier with fewer members present.
…would be the best thing ever, but judging from the way my characters are reacting to it, it’s certainly no Witch’s Broom.
I mean just look at my Mesmer here. It looks like someone just told her pink & purple have gone out of fashion (ignore the fact she’s dressed in red). My Norn Engineer looks like he’s getting air sick and I’m certain miy Norn Warrior would rather be sailing.
Sure, the Asura look like they’re having fun, but they seem to be the only ones that are.
I would have thought having a flying magic carpet would have lead to a musical number or something, not a Marvin the Robot Impersonation contest.
I was at 60% when I started today. I then did the last four (9, 10, 8 and finally finished with 7 as Dulfy numbers them). When I did the last one, I should have gotten the achievement, but didn’t. My progress says I’m at 90%, but I had 6 and did 4 today, so something’s buggy.
Thanks, but not really what I wanted. The two characters I play the most are Guardian and a Sword Mesmer, I know how to dodge. Also, I’m not really looking for speed leveling. Just want to make good use of what I have.
So I just hit level 40 and unlocked my Major traits, but I don’t know where to go with my build. Right now I decided to throw 20 points in to Nature Magic for Two-Handed Training and 10 more in to Marksmanship for Beastmaster’s Bond. Is there something better I can be doing with my 30 trait points?
For reference I’m currently using Greatsword & Shortbow.
Try the warthogs behind the mill in the South of the WvW Borderlands. You’ll periodically have people come and try to kill you though.
Dear Toymaker Tixx,
I have a few requests, most come from my Mesmer…what can I say, she’s a Mesmer.
Some armour or town clothes similar to Gwen’s Deldrimor armour
Mesmer skills other than Phantasms that do damage.
An off-hand dagger and main-hand pistol.
My Guardian would like the death of the Dragons, World Peace & Snow.
My Elementalist would like…fire? Really? sigh You can’t just have fire, you can make fire. Pick something else. … ‘Heat’ is also fire. … Ok, that’s better. My ele would like to have a blast finisher put back on on Evasive Arcana when attuned to Earth.
My thief would like some Split Chakram daggers.
Thanks kindly,
sbx
I suggested elsewhere that you need to get skills depending on your attunement.
There’s also that massive huge whole in Divinity’s Reach. There’s also the Seraph’s Landing way point in the North East of Harathi Hinterlands, which is rather due East of Divinity’s Reach. Given that there’s only a bit of water between the two areas, it’d make sense to have an expansion that could connect the two. Who knows, given the Agony effect that’s coming out and the fact that the Mursaat are up on the Isle of Janthir, perhaps the Lost Shores stuff will be to the North of Divinity’s Reach.
I noticed something last night. I recently respec’ed my ele and picked up Evasive Arcana since it seems to be so potent…but one thing I realized was that the damage was lacking and I mean really lacking. When I used it for Flame Blast it did 50 damage…some times 49. My gear needs to be redone and I’ve just hit 80 so I’m running around with level 65 rare gear, but that seems very low.
What’s more, I run D/D, so Churning Earth when used with the dagger would hit for 1200 damage (non-crit), but when I got the Evasive Arcana version it only did 200 damage.
Is the damage from the Evasive Arcana version of the spells supposed to be lower than actually casting the spells?
Thanks, and that’s annoying.
Couple of questions: does the -1 second on weapon swap work with the elemental attunements and, if yes, is it worth it? Ele’s can use more HP, and I think the -1 second would be a huge boost to attunement swapping.
Running around as a tornado is dumb and nobody should do it except for laughs.
Games are srs bsns…
6x Dolyak. Energizer Bunny Runes.
yeah, it’s kinda hard to bleed, cripple or blind a tornado, but 16 seconds of being immune to all conditions is a little OP.
It’s a bit of a shame that your attunement doesn’t effect the Tornado like a bunch of the other skills do. I suppose if you look at it one way, the abilities there are 2 earth (sand & boulders) and 1 air. I suppose if you squint and don’t think about it too much you could consider the sand fire, in which case, just adding a water/healing ability would help as well. If you’re in the middle of a big fight loading it up and sending down some Healing Rain would be a great help.
What if you’ve got a traited focus in your off-hand and you throw up a Temportal Curtain?
Yet another Temple of Balthazar event attempt that ended in failure and rage...
Posted by: ShadowbaneX.6273
The few times I’ve seen this event succeed, it involved taking out the Abomination and the other Vets & Champs, then focusing on the Priest. It also involved people taking utility skills that were stun breakers (to avoid being Fear’ed into the Banners) and people res’ing each other. This “if you’re dead, don’t expect a res, just WP & run back” is total BS.
If all you do is focus on the Priest, you’re gonna get beat down. Support each other, take out the adds, res downed people and you’ll get through it. You know…that’s kinda the way ANet designed the game.
I’m a fan of Sword/Focus & Staff. 0/20/0/30/20. Create lots of Illusions, kill stuff, reflect ranged attacks. Once you’ve got the Focus trait that reduces their CD by 20% and gives those skills Reflection mobs like Risen Hylek die almost instantly with an Illusionary Warden in front of them.
I guess what this thread is saying is that the Torch needs some work because it’s pretty much the only weapon that people don’t like.
I think I’ve advocated in the past having a trait that gave an extra illusion slot or two. I think that’d be awesome. 20 is probably excessive, but having 4 or 5 wouldn’t be too bad, especially as since Mind Wrack scales down the more illusions you have up.

They’re uncommon drops. You get them either from mobs directly or from bags that the mobs drop. It’s a little abnormal that you haven’t gotten any, but I wouldn’t say bizarre. Also, the runes aren’t that big of a deal. It’s usually easier just to buy them off the TP.

Just looking at the insane requirements for this (and indeed all) legendary
and i have to ask, why? unless the weapon can one hit kill a dragon , what is the point? This isn’t intended as a negative post, if someone wants to go for a legendary thats kewl, but i am just curious as to the motivation.
E.
The motivation, as some of the previous posts have suggested, is to have something to stand out from all the other players. People get so focused on being different that they focus all their time on standing out that they spend all their grinding that they ignore the game entirely.

The ‘winning’ on THIS game IS skins.
The ‘winning’ on THIS game is to make a character, play through the game and to have fun. If you think otherwise, you’ve missed the whole point of everything Anet has been trying to do.

If you’re going to hate anyone hate the developers like Lindsey who don’t know the meaning of Risk vs Reward and despite assuring players pre-launch that GW2 would not be Pay-to-Win have clearly made it such and this story is true proof of that.
How ’bout NO!!
There shouldn’t be any hating going on, especially for Devs who take the time to actually talk with us.
There is no pay to win. The stats for Legendaries are the same as exotics. They only have additional graphics and particle effects. SWtOR has just gone free to play and that is pay to win. How can you tell? Well, because people that pay get to equip & buy better gear that those that are just regularly found in the game. That’s Pay to Win. If Anet’s system was Pay to Win, only people that subscribed would be able to equip level 80 Exotic Gear, clearly giving an edge to people that pay money for the game.
You cannot pay money to get a distinct advantage over other people. If you people think that Legendary weapons are ‘winning’ you guys need to go outside and play some sports, or at least some board games or something.
While I can understand your disappointment with this change Animus, to be frank, it had to happen, and there’s one very major reason why: the Mesmer. It is amongst the strongest classes, for PvP, but is amongst the weakest for PvE and there’s no real way to balance it for both aspects without having a split.
With that in mind, what do you suggest that happens? Keep it so that’s both but have a class that is necessarily strong or weaker depending on where it’s played, or split the skills and balance them separately?
Sounds like a Minecraft reference
Does anyone know how to play a guardian successfully?
Do anything other than stack Power, Precision & Crit (ie glass cannon).
I was messing around with my Artificer when I noticed that I had another recipe available. This one was Crystalline Dust, Ancient Bone, Putrid Essence & Water…which made me scratch my head because that’s the recipe for Powerful Potion of Undead Slaying which I already had unlocked.
I hit the ‘Craft’ button anyone and out popped a new, rare potion, an Extended Potion of Undead Slaying. The stats are the same as the Powerful version with two small differences, one, the duration for it is 2 minutes…so not very extended. The other problem is that they’re soulbound, also not helpful.
Looking on the trade post there’s are recipes for sale for other Extended Potions, but they’re exotics.
I’d wait for the next patch, if we get another nerf the class won’t be worth playing, if it doesn’t get nerfed any further there are specs that are quite fun.
lol…
This forum really needs a facepalm emoticon.
All the class professions do. The whining that goes on is really just sad. I feel like making up an image macro that has “this is what you think you’re doing” followed by one of those Ace Attorney: Objection images, followed by “this is what you’re actually doing” with a picture of some baby bawling their eyes out. Seems to adequately represent most of the posts on the class profession boards.
No, cause I’m a cheap kitten that wants the prices to go down further.
Would it be possible to have the recipe changed back to 3 logs per plank to bring it in line with the other plank recipes? I think the original need to have it increased to four (ie too much supply available) has passed by now and it’d be nice to have it changed back.
Also, don’t underestimate the sword’s auto-attack. Stripping boons off of enemies can be very important, and you’ve got enough HP to get in, evade/block some big attacks to use it to strip one or two off. Taking Protection or Regeneration off of something can make a huge difference. Granted, there are many other ways to get rid of them as a Mesmer, but just getting in there with the sword can help a lot as well.
If you do that though then it’s very important to get the hell out of dodge and switch to staff or greatsword for a while.
Another important question, what is this for, PvE, PvP or WvW?
I’m partial to Sword/Focus with Staff. Focus is awesome for dealing with ranged attacks and sword is good for upclose. Staff is great for tougher targets, ie Veterans & up as they hit pretty hard, but this is mainly for PvE. I would think that against humans they’re too easy to dodge or kill.
If it’s against AI I’d go with Staff. If it’s against humans I’d go with Greatsword.
I actually like the channeling animation on my human female guardian. It might be that she leans a bit too far back, but you actually get the impression that they’re channeling potent magics. I seem to recall that the male asuran dance is a bit like pole dancing though.
Human FemGuardian’s empower animation is good, but it kinda reminds me of exorcist… She leans too far back.
lol
Perhaps just a bit too far back yes. Compared to the others though, I don’t think we’ve got too much to complain about.
You’re supposed to go out there and have fun…an alien notion to many MMO players, but that’s something that Anet is trying to change. Who cares what you’re doing, so long as you’re having fun doing it?
Grab some gear, go out there and have fun, that’s what playing games is supposed to be around.
Oh, and the Guardian has a very solid identity and that identity is: Awesome. If you don’t understand that than the class probably isn’t for you.
Guardians evolved from Monks & Paragons. Both of which were ‘hang back and stay out of the fight, and if you get involved you’ve got plenty of buffs to keep yourself alive. It makes perfect sense from a Lore standpoint.
Just because they share similar abilities with those professions is in no way indicative of where they currently stand. They wear heavy armor and are suited for front-line combat. Are you trying to tell me that a profession like that should be in the bracket of the lowest innate HP pool?
I understand in terms of balance it isn’t feasible to give the Guardian more HP, but don’t try and say that from a lore standpoint they should have lower HP than more than half of the other professions in this game.
It’s quite simple and I already explained it. Warriors have tons of HP because they need it, same with the Necros. Guardians on the other hand coming from Monks & Guardians, didn’t need the extra health because they relied on their magical abilities to mitigate damage. There’s your lore. To add to it, Eles used their magic and thieves used their speed, that’s why they have lower HP. There’s some Lore for you.

The other night I did 5k damage with a Whirling Wrath against a Champion.
No intent stealing your thunder here but 5k crits you can do with mightyblow, which correlates to about 11k hits with WW.
Just wanted to give you a teaser regarding the potential of mighty blow in combination with lots of power.
Oh, I use the Hammer & Greatsword, both are a lot of fun. Still exploring things a bit more now that I’ve got a mostly full exotic set (need an Exotic Hammer still).
I’m trying to figure out an 11k crit on WW.
Does anyone else think traited meditations should be treated as a "heal" skill?
in Guardian
Posted by: ShadowbaneX.6273
No. It’d be too powerful.
i cant agree more with svarty because warrior came and destroyed me in like 3 sec of burst, stun braker and dodge haven’t helped me at all.
There’s four possibilities:
1) This is the best Warrior ever
2) You choose poorly when picking your gear, attributes & traits
3) You’re low level with bad gear and he’s level 80 with exotics
4) You’re bad
The Guardian is the hardest profession to kill in the game, regardless of HP. You’ve got one heal, yeah, but that should be the last thing you use. You’ve got your Virtues which can be traited to add blind, regeneration & protection. You’ve got tons of shouts to add buffs, give conditions…and traited they can remove conditions. Altruistic Healing is stupidly powerful to regaining Health. You’ve got blocks, knockdowns, knockbacks, Line of Warding, Ring of Warding and Sanctuary.
I can walk around Cursed Shore aggro half a dozen mobs, and beat them down without even needing to use my heal, sometimes not even being knocked down below half my health.
If you think the Guardian’s HP is too low, you’re playing the class wrong. It’s strong enough as it is, and would be the God Class if it had the medium (ranger/mesmer/engineer), let alone high HP pools (warrior/necro).
I finally got around to completing my armour. My stats are something like 1700 power, 1600 precision, 1750 toughness & 1450 Vitality. Attack is ~2900, as is my Armour rating. HP is at 16,880. I think my armour is a bit higher than I’d like, and so is my Vitality, but I’m not quite sure how to fix it at the moment. Perhaps replacing the leggings with Shaman’s or something. Healing Power is only at about 200, and Condition Damage is about 270.
The fun part is Crits. Normally, it’s about 37%, but I use a Rune of Superior Precision and once that hits 25 charges that crit rate is up to 49-50% with a +62% crit damage. I then switch back and forth between Hammer and Greatsword doing loads of damage. The other night I did 5k damage with a Whirling Wrath against a Champion.
I feel nigh unkillable with the Trident. It bounces all over the place healing and doing damage. Not huge amounts, but combined with the Heal, you can take on a lot. Trident #4 will stop projectiles coming in and overwhelming you.
The damage on the Spear #2 is very strong, the auto-attack might be a little weak though. You’ve got a blind on #3 and a pull & 5 second burn on #5. I find #4 to be not that useful, usually only doing 500 or so damage as mobs pass through it once. If you can get the mobs into a corner and then use it you get a lot more damage out of it though.
No reward for putting in 4 accessories into the mystic forge. Bug?

I think I got the same issue, but that would have been a while ago.
Are the items still equipped?
I’ve heard “overcharging turret”, some pvp stuff about defending points or something, pretty much everything but “Hold the Line!”…except in one circumstance. One time in all the times I’ve used it, it’s actually said the correct line. I think I’ve reported this in game.
What about me who says “go farm the high level areas”? I get like a dozen vanilla beans every time I spend some time running around Mount Maelstrom or Sparkfly Fen.
I do think that the drops should increase to balance the obviously high demand, but the stuff is out there, from both Mature & Verdant Herb nodes. Luck very well might be a factor, but then it always is with RNG.
@Shadowbane
No it is 15. I did starter quest (doesn’t lvl you to lvl 2) and then went straight to LA and crafted Huntsman to 400 – I did nothing else, absolutely nothing else. No wondering around, no discovering, no killing a few mobs here and there – the sole purpose of my alt was to get 400 in Huntsman and that is what I did.By the end I was almost lvl 16 (about 90% through 15) – I gained 15 lvls through crafting. I used crafting boosters for most of it.
Please stop trying to tell people what they did or didn’t do, I think those of us who have done it are quite capable of knowing what we did and how we did it, thanks.
I can request the same of you. Right from the link below to experience
Crafting Level 1-100 1% of the character level
Crafting Level 101-200 2% of the character level
Crafting Level 201-300 3% of the character level
Crafting Level 301-400 4% of the character level
1 level + 2 levels + 3 levels + 4 levels = 10 levels. I’m not sure how you managed to get 15 levels out of it, and for the record when you finish the tutorial you’re automatically leveled up to level 2, so if you’re currently level 15 that’s 13 levels you’ve gained.
Additionally, as I’ve said, my Ele is currently level 28 and has leveled up 2 crafting professions. If it was 15 levels per craft, she’d be at least level 32 right now. She isn’t, therefore it cannot be 15 levels.
Ummm. Ok, two things. First, now is the best time to craft stuff. With the prices dropping, it’s the best time to pick up the required materials. I normally just salvage everything and reuse those materials in more crafting, but if you craft any rares or anything, you can hold on to them and sell them later should prices go back up. If they don’t, well, just salvage or merch.
Secondly, it’s 10 levels. For those that are stating that they’re now level 15, well you start at level 1, so that’s 14. By the time you finish the starter instance you’re level 2, so that’s now 13. You have to wander around for a bit and while that’s not usually 3 levels, well, let’s look at it another way. You gain 1 level from going from the start to 100 in a craft, each time you gain a crafting level you get 1% of your current XP. From 100 to 200 you gain 2 levels. From 200 to 300, 3 levels. From 300 to 400 you gain 4 levels. That adds up to 10. I don’t know what else you guys did to get the extra level or 3, but it’s not crafting. It’s probably exploring, or perhaps, leveling up another craft. It’s definitely 10 levels though.
Here’s an example, my Elementalist who does my weaponsmithing (375) & artificing (400). She’s currently level 28. If it was 15 levels per crafting discipline she’d be at least level 31 by now. As it is she was level 2 at the end of the intro, gained 9 + 10 levels for crafting (21) and has gained the other 7 by running around gathering materials, doing personal story, dailies and what-have-you.
Also, I currently don’t have any crafting boosters and I don’t feel like spending money on them. If that’s silly, than so be it.
