And when enough money has been donated for the specific upgrade, then it’ll start. That way, one player doesn’t need to stand with a bill of 2 gold, because he/she/it felt like upgrading the Stonemist Castle Fortified Castle upgrade.

If you pay to transfer to the full queue maps you will probably enjoy the game. The culling will probably be horrendous, though. There’s a small portion of players that like roaming with 5-10 guildies and picking off unorganized, talentless players in the mid-tiers. That is the only real enjoyment you can get now. Oh, and PVE. That’s all anyone is doing every time we are in the wrong tier, which is every other week.

You kinda sound like one of those kittens who thrives on other peoples’ misfortune and whose only goal in the game is to feel like you’re a winner. Calling people talentless, even though it’s you(+ at least 4 of your friends) vs 1 person. In my eyes, if that person lasts more than 10 seconds, you’re the talentless one.

Please, if you are going to belittle others, please try and turn the aim against yourself first and see if you can live up to your own expectations.

Charr are the real heroes in this game unfortunately. Won’t even let us chat with the ghosts of our ancestors

I couldn’t disagree with you more. The charr are domination hungry and war mongering creatures. They live and thirst only for battle and strife.
And no, they don’t care for honor and “respectful behavior”. An example could be the Prince Rorik’s (The prince of Ascalon) wife. They captured her and burned her alive.
Does that really sound heroic to you?

Well, I didn’t really like it in the start, since you know, it doesn’t really look like she’s strong enough to carry it. However, I didn’t want my character to be some big muscle-mama anyway, so I don’t really mind it in the end.

And a just for good order; two handed swords were not as heavy, slow and clumsy as most people like to think (thank you Hollywood). They often didn’t weigh more than 5kg (depending on the shape and size.

The famous katana (japanese sword) which was wielded with two hands often weighed less than 1,5kg. (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_weight_of_a_katana)

And the other famous two handed sword; the claymore, weighed about 2,5kg. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claymore)

Resurrection skills not working on defeated players is a sweeping change on all res skills on all professions. Calls for a reversion of that change will likely be unsuccessful.

Though comparing the guardian res skill with other professions, I think they should make the signet res multiple targets.

You may be right on that. However, even if it did ress multiple allies, it’d still be a very situational ability. Of course it would be a really nice improvement, without a doubt. And also an improvement large enough to make me reconsider whether I could use it or not.
With that said, it’d still be up against the usefulness of all the other utility skills. And right now, it really don’t stand a chance. And even with the buff that you speak of, it would still be in for a tough competition.
Even with improved signets.

Signet of Mercy

Sierra.6352

Hai!

I’ve been playing a meditation spec for some time now and is really enjoying it. However, I felt for some change yesterday and earlier today. And looked at the signets. Everything seemed fine and useful (maybe except for Signet of Wrath). But especially Signet of Mercy caught my attention. However, I have tried it last year and… Well… It didn’t seem to work as intended.
However, I thought, “Hey, maybe they’ve changed it so it works better now!”. So I went to test it out:

1. test was about, if it ressurected defeated NPCs. So I went to a supply camp in WvW which was being attacked by four enemies. I sneaked behind them and tried it out on the fallen supervisor. And it worked! Yay! Thumbs up. Imagine if you could ressurect your commander in the keep, with a 4 seconds’ cast, in the heat of battle. Now that’s something!

2. I tried it on a downed party member, in a dungeon. And it worked… However… It’s a 4 seconds’ cast with a 240sec recharge… Sure it got a range of 900, but really?… I’m quite sure I can help a downed ally player up in about 4 seconds manually, without using a utility skill. Anyway, I bet it’s fine to have the option. Thumb middle

3. And lastly, I tried it on a defeated ally player. And no, it did not work. It only works on defeated ally NPCs. Thumbs down.

So to sum it up:
It’s a 4 seconds’ cast with a 240 sec recharge and with a range of 900.

A: It can ressurect a defeated NPC. (Can be extremely useful in WvW for defeated key NPCs)
B: It can only ressurect downed ally players. (Not really useable at all, since you can already do that at the same amount of time without using a utility skill.)

At the end of the day, I didn’t find it near as useful as I had hoped for. In fact, I was rather disappointed and will most likely never use it, unless something drastic is changed.
However, if it were capable of ressurecting a defeated player, I would find it very useful. Even with the long recharge time and long casting time.
Or maybe if the casting time was reduced greatly. Then it may be useful for getting downed allies up.

I’d love to hear what you guys think about this subject. o/

I personally use Superior Runes of the Krait and 2x swords. Don’t underrestimate bleeds, if you got a hell lot of condition damage. I go for crit chance (due to traits, I get a chance to bleed a target on crits), my bleeds last 65% longer etc. etc.

I have tried using a GS, however I quickly learned (maybe due to my runes?) that using double sword simply did a whole lot more damage.

That’s just my experience.

Please keep in mind, that Anet (at least for what I’ve understood about it) made GW2 as social as possible. A community based game. Hence why there is only one faction and that the PvP, especially WvW, is server versus server. Contra World of Warcraft for example, which is very much focused on YOU and YOU alone. In World of Warcraft, nobody else matters, except for you. Personally, I love the idea that it’s no longer all about me, but about the server I play on and the world (as in WvW), that I serve. It gives me some kind of purpose, at least while playing the game. :p

Solo Dungeons

For everyone who are saying “GW2 is an MMO, if you want to solo then this isn’t the game for you”, stop being a bigot. The ArenaNet team stated from the start that you don’t have to be social in GW2, and they made that evident with DE’s. Some people just like playing games by themselves and no one should tell them they shouldn’t play GW2 because of that.

Personally, I would really enjoy it if Dungeons could be solo’d. Diminish the rewards significantly, that’s fine with me. If it takes me a year to get a full set of Armour then so be it, but for me that’s something that would extend the life of the game.

Is the upcoming dungeon, Fractals of the Mists, bottomless? Assuming it is, or that there will be a bottomless dungeon, I would love to be able to solo that, and then if I have a couple of friends that want to jump in they can and the dungeon will scale.

Basicly, you can get the best gear in the game, without having to party up with anyone, one single time. As you can get and/or purchase the materials to create the armor with top-notch stats, already.

Why would AOE or other abilities, like ones with a leap attatched, do more damage than a single attack ability?

Will go on record saying having an autoattack as one of five abiltities is lame in the extreme.

Anet has already stated before, that there is no “auto-attack” in GW2. And what they mean by that, is that it’s an actual skill that always has more effects than that of doing “white damage”. Like in many other MMOs (Rift, WoW, SWTOR), where you could kill an NPC without using a single skill. + with the old fashioned auto-attack, you could basicly hit twice with just 1 swing of your weapon, if you used an ability, at the same time your next auto-attack was ready, which makes about as much sense as kittenting in a hat.

Just be happy that Anet allowed you to decide for yourself which of your five skills that your character should use as often as possible (spam). Or you would have to spam that key with your fingers yourself.

I actually like the renewed focus. Short recharge and with the combination of the trait that heals you a bit for every boon you give, not only to yourself, but also your allies, aswell as 5 points in virtues, that gives you 3 stacks of might from using virtue of Justice, regeneration buff from using the healing virtue and protection buff from using virtue of courage. I find that pretty decent in pretty much all situations. Especially when you use renewed focus, right after. You get a good portion of health instantly, for aswell as some health over time and protection, not to mention the extra damage + the virtues original use, whereafter you get the passive effects right after.

Improved "Star icon" for Legendary crafters

in Suggestions

Sierra.6352

Sure thing, you can buy Legendary weapons from TP however it is not fair to those who have worked hard in-game for these items since the price of a Legendary is not pre-determined, you can buy and sell at any price you want. My idea:

Anyone who craft AND equip a legendary item should get an upgraded version of the yellow “Star” icon (above player’s head) with a tiny sword in the middle of the star. He worked hard for that title. This way it would be possible to distinguish who is the real legendary player and who did not walked through the steps needed to earn a Legendary item.

It will not ruin the business on TP since its only a small change but means a lot for real players.

I think you and I have very different viewpoints on what it is to determine a “legendary player”… A “legendary player” would be someone everyone knows who has done something amazingly impressive. Something that required a ton of skill and a kittenload (please excuse my french) of luck. Something that would seem impossible for most people. Like if two people overtook a fully upgraded keep in WvW or something like that. That is what I would call a legendary player…
Not someone who has simply spent a lot of time on crafting a funny-looking item, which name is written in orange.

Sierra.6352

Yes, it would be possible. But it wouldn’t be cheap, nor easy. Please do consider all the various hairstyles in the game. Now picture them all in your head (or those you can remember). How many different shapes and sizes do you get? A human female with a mohawk surely would look different than a human female with shoulder-long hair, when wearing the same hat. There’s a hairstyle, also from the human female, that is much more wild and flowing (which a lot of people have chosen in fact), that is “filling” (both higher, long and broader(?)) a lot more than let’s say the shoulder-long haircut. Hence why they would need to implement new animations for every hairstyle for every hat.

With that said, however, I do agree. I’ve always hated that much character goes bald, because I choose to wear a hat! It could be an awesome looking hat, but the cost/benefit is tipping too far towards the cost side, when I go bald aswell!

am i the only one who saw the OP and wondered why on earth is he playing an MMO when all he seems to want is a single player experiance.

Lutharr, your “It’s an MMORPG” argument is as dumb as it is old. Are you ignoring the “RP” part of MMORPG? Most people aren’t Role-Playing either. If you aren’t Role-Playing, do you want me to tell you to get out of our game?

How is it dumb to state an MMO is infact an MMO? But I guess your intelligence is on a different level that trancends actual facts. I like how you saying my arguement (which wasnt an argument ya kitten it was an observation) is dumb then proceed to make yourself look a fool by ignoring actual facts.

Did I say get out of “my” game? Did I ridicule the OP for wanting to play solo? No, so kitten off and ya jumped up little prat.

Its a MULTIPLAYER game. And as such should be treated as such. But hey lets turn the game into Skyrim to cater for those that bought an MMO and feel like they cant play with others. Screw all those other people that got into the game for what is written on the box.

So i assume the pve players actually carebears that cant pvp cause they will always fail.

I love how the pve heros destroys all the mmo, thats why i never see any exitent or a hard goal to win.

You mean like how most of the PVP players are overcompensating clowns. Do you actually think ANYONE is impressed by your ability to press some buttons on a keyboard or mouse? But I bet your typing this while playing one handed outclassing 10 other players in pvp by yourself as your stroke your super model girlfriend. Who will be odviously beside herself with desire for your manly pvp skills. Glad we have such an all action hero around like you for us lesser mortals to look upto. Please don't punish solo PvE players

Sierra.6352

I personally only play PvE. I have no interest in PvP or WvW or anything else. I always liked GW1 and played for over 6 years. GW2 punishes people like me in that the game never gives full bonuses for the month because WvW is included in PvE. Also, I haven’t got the time to run elite characters and such as I do other things in life. I was disappointed to see that all new content that is added to the game is all level 80 stuff. I don’t have a lot of money and don’t like spending all the cash fixing my dude up all the time. I am not the best player either. So my options in this version of GW are diminishing all the time. The people who play the most get the best stuff and end up dictating the economy in-game.

I was just looking for some things that were geared towards people that don’t play anything but PvE solo. And not all the content given to the people that are the best at everything. Wintersday areas would have been nice to be available to under level-80 characters. I missed all the other stuff in the game because it was all level 80 too.

Don’t punish PvE solo players.

Thankyou.

I ehm, I sort of understand where you are getting at. But please, I believe there are important factors you have forgotten about, in GW2.
1. No monthly subscription = You don’t NEED to play GW2 all the time. You are not wasting money just because you don’t play as often as others. Hence why it is a lot more casual-player-friendly than most other MMOs out there.
2. There are the matter of the story-line you are playing in. That is pretty much designed for just your type of player. A person leveling up, wanting to play solo-PvE, yet with an entertaining aspect. In fact, I find the storyline very entertaining myself.
3. Yes, you have to go help kill x-number of enemy players in WvW to achieve the monthly achievement, but please consider those who are the complete opposite of you. Those who adore PvP and especially WvW-PvP, yet finds PvE utterly boring and almost a waste of time in their points of views… Should they just be ignored, because you feel differently about it?
4. You are still capable of doing the daily achievements, without having to do any type of PvE.
5. GW2 is focusing a whole kitten lot about the community of the server. Yes, you -can- do solo-PvE, but that is not what they focus on. For what I’ve seen thus far, it is the strong communities server-wise they wish to strengthen. They’ve said it themselves, that WvW is a big part of GW2, not like in WoW, where PvP is a second-prioritization (to much discomfort for all the PvPers).
6. Yes, you can purchase Gems and exchange them into in-game gold. However, that is only a way to make money faster. And yes, that may help you in levelling faster, due to being able to purchase the materials to skill up your crafting skills and thus gaining experience. However, it is not a requirement to progress at all. You can basicly purchase GW2 and never spend one euro, dollar, mooncow-candy-sock or whatever currency you use, ever again and still progress in GW2. Unlike the games where you subscribe or the infamous “pay-to-win” games.

I am not attempting to prove you wrong, nor that what I’ve just stated is right. I -think- my points are valid. However, an official from Arenanet, might come and read my reply to you and state that everything I’ve said is completely wrong and make my points about as valid as a poo in a hat.
I just wish that you would consider what I’ve tried to say.

After that, see through white walls light up. Not high walls, just
ones that mark the area and these walls then make it so that players can’t be
pushed outside the arena and no one else can enter while the duel
is on. It MAY also balance things a little, if for example it’s a thief
vs some other class, as the thief won’t have been able to get too far
away with stealth. Needs some thought.

I’m afraid I must disagree with you there. Or they must at the least, cover a whole lot of ground. Please do consider the fact that not everyone focuses on melee combat. Take for example the ranger. One of their longbow abilities without a recharge, does more damage, the farther the target is away from you. So kiting an opponent and gaining a suitable distance is vital for such a person.

Fighting Guardians (WvW)

Constantly blocked? Guardians got two ways to block an attack, dear. 1st is of course their virtue, that gives you 1 block every 40th second, unless they use it, giving everyone around them, inclusive themselves a block, however, then it’ll take 90 seconds for the next block to come, instead of just waiting 40 seconds, but it might be a lifesaver of course.

(PS: No, the focus ability, where you block the next 3 attacks, or do damage if those 3 blocks aren’t used, doesn’t count, as the foci are really, really ugly. So of course, no decent person would ever use them!)
The second way for a guardian to block, is by using a mace. it got a skill that lets you block the next attack done towards them, and then do an attack in return (gain protection if not hit).

(And then a third, which gives you and the person you help up an aegis, along with regeneration and protection, IF you got the trait that is.)

I guess that the reason why you have trouble against guardians, is because guardians is a very defensive type, or at least, can be. It’s the only other proffession than the one you play yourself, that wears heavy armor. However, for my own experience (my main is a guardian and played guardian since the first beta-weekend) their burst is far from as high as a warriors’. However, if you can avoid a warriors’ burst (yes, there are ways, such as stun breakers) then the guardian got it pretty much under control, if they know what they are doing.

WvW - Why am I Being Punished?

Sierra.6352

I think it’s more like your general approach that is the issue.
Of what I can read here, all your reasons have been for one person only. Yourself.

I understand where you are coming from however. I hate defending anything, as a guardian, because unless I use a scepter, I lag ranged firepower severely and that doesn’t get me many badges, however I can live with this, I still enjoy playing my class and I enjoy playing WvW.

With that said, I still watch WvW and SPvP like this… SPvP = for the single-player/small team guy (the guy fighting for own personal gain, aka you guys). While WvW is for the guy who fights for his/her server and for the benefits of the server.

And to what Vigilence said about the team coordination. There will soon be commanders running around which will help a whole lot.

“What is a commander?”
A commander is a player that can form something called a “squad”, a “squad” is a bit like a raid group from various other MMOs. However, there’s an unlimited amount of space in a squad (for as far as I know) and there are no “raid interface”. The grand idea with a squad is coordinating people. The commander / leader of the squad, can place various signs on everyone in the squad’s map, such as “attack here”, “Defend here”, “Move here” etc.

“How do I become a commander?”
There are NPCs in the WvW and I even found one in Divinity’s Reach that sells a book named “Commander’s Compendium” I think it was called. It grants the character the ability to create squads.
However, Anet wanted to make sure that only dedicated leaders become commanders, hence why they set the price of this book to 100 gold. (which I believe is very positive.)

“How do I join a squad?”
When you target the commander or ANYONE IN THE SQUAD, you can right-click on their portrait and simply click the “Join Squad” botton.
Easy, simple andkitteneffective to pull together all those stragglers around on the map, who otherwise run around like headless chickens.

PS: A tip to how I got +80 badges without much trouble… Arrow carts… You get lots of kills with arrow carts. Lots of kills = lots of loot. Lots of loot = a good chance of badges!

That’s what I get most of my badges from, even though I lack ranged firepower (because I choose not to use a scepter).

“The second part to this system is that once a player reaches the level cap of that zone, they no longer gain experience in that zone and have to move to a zone meant for their next 5 or 10 levels to gain experience again.”

The reason why Anet did the level adjustments is so that people can return to those old places and experience something they might have missed while leveling, while still actually gaining something out of it, other than the experience itself, along with just a little bit of a fight.

I have still yet to meet that big bad creature that lies in the dormant swamp in (was it Queensdale?) and I can’t wait to face it and take it down! But I am only excited about this, because I know it might be a challange. I wouldn’t even bother to even look at it or think about that monster, if I knew that I could one-shot it.

Sorry. But I’d prefer to stay mortal. I don’t find any fun in running around one-shotting 7 much lower leveled mobs on my own.

+ What if I were to help a friend of mine level up? Should I just run around one-shotting all of his/her mobs after they hit it once? Where is the fun in that?

Players give WvW guards equipment

Honestly, first when I read it I was like “Yeah, yeah right. But people are too greedy to even give it a thought of doing that.”. However, it’s basicly already going on when people purchase upgrades…

I like your idea! However, should the guards’ looks also change along with the gear?

Anyway +1 from me!

Unlimit crafting professions

Technically, it doesn’t have a cap. As the level of your crafting skill is remembered, even if you ditch a crafting skill.

Let me give you an example:
I got a guardian with cooking level 400. I could ditch that cooking and go for weaponsmithing instead, get that up to let’s say 250 and then ditch it and go back to cooking again. My cooking however, would instantly go up to the previous 400, just where I left it off. And it’s the same with all of the crafting skills.
You can ditch it, grab something else, ditch that, grab something entirely else, ditch that, only to go back to the first one again and it would remember the progression of all of them.

Why not just use “right-click”, and hold it down, on the mouse… I think it’s named mouse botton 2 or something. And then move your character. Then your character will turn and move the way your are pointing the camera. And that way move to the back of your character instantly.

Personally, I’d rather prefer to see more weapons on the line. Like two-handed axes and polearms (a spear, but with a sword’s blade at the end, this for land/non-underwater combat of course).

So… You want to be… A ninja?
Honestly, I like the idea of falling damage. I mean, if I am chased by a group of angry invaders in WvW and I get to choose to either make a really far jump and land on well… Land… Or take my chances and try and aim for the water (like any sane person would), I would of course choose the water!
We finally got a game where we are not all super-heroes (referrence: WoW). It’s nice to feel mortal again.

Easy now on the inspection part. I don’t know if you’ve played any of the other MMOs, but one thing was sure… “Gear score” was always there in the end. No matter how skilled you said you were, the gear your character had always came in first priority. If your gear sucked, then you’d get kicked.
Do you really want that to enter into GW2?
Besides, if you want to share info about your gear, you can just link it. And if you want to know about the gear another person is wearing, you can simply ask. Trust me, it doesn’t hurt. And only few of them bite.

“In other games protecting the questers, helping out others, or “calling in the troops” at random was a huge boon to the playing experience. It was “thrilling”]” I disagree. Why? Because of what I can relate to (WoW, Rift, it wasn’t a problem in SWTOR though), people stopped caring… If a town was under siege and every NPC was continually killed, my experience tells me that people doesn’t call for assistance, and if they do, they’d get turned down. In my experience, when such an event accoured, people who tried to quest there, simply found something better to do and come back another time.
Why didn’t people care? You might ask yourself and the answer is quite easy:
1. The NPCs would respawn within 5 minutes again anyway, so it wouldn’t affect those who tried to level there for long.
2. It didn’t affect those who didn’t try to quest there anyway.

And to the overall topic:
Please keep in mind, that what Anet is trying to do, is binding each server together into tightly knit communities. Hence why 1. there are no duelling system (yet?), 2. there are only 1 faction and 3. people can only have characters on ONE server at a time (so no backstabbing or bearing of two flags, if you get what I mean).
So why try and instigate a competative mood within the server, when one has already been made effective towards other servers?

Why would you like to be able to tame a sheep?… I mean, seriously… A sheep… And racoons?… What would you like Anet to add as a raccoon’s special ability? Enable it to steal their enemy’s trash from their trashcan? And the sheep? Imagine it: “The sheep grows wool. Every 24th hour, you will be able to shave your sheep and gain 20x Wool scraps.” Very useful against bandits, no doubt about that!
