Eladan of Greenwood: 80 Ranger
Elemir Swiftblade: 80 Thief

I really don’t see the issue, as someone who regularly drops to 1-2g I find it very easy to earn a few hundred gold in a matter of days just by playing the game, doing dungeons, selling mats etc. If I actually saved more instead of buying random things I would have a lot more money.

Correct me if I’m wrong but just about every MMO requires you to buy the new expacs to get access to new classes. WoW with WOTLK and Death Knights and Pandaria for monks and soon Legion for Demon Hunters. LotRO required you to buy the MoM for Wardens and Rune Keepers and zones for the Beorning. Having to buy Xpacs to get new classes has and always will be a thing. It’s not P2W you can beat elite specs no problem with base classes as long as you have even the slightest idea of what you are doing.
“We want alpine back because all we like to do is run around in mindless zergs and don’t want to have to deal with places where we can actually get ambushed or have any kind of tactic other than mindless blobbing we can see from a mile away.”
Alpine offered zero tactics other than blobbing people just need to learn to adapt, use scouts in choke points and blind spots. I’m extremely disappointed they are getting rid of the DBL and are going back to the bland map that facilitates zero kinds of tactics and only blobbing.
The title says it all really. This is kittening obscene it seems with some specs every single attack is a CC of some kind then with others every other skill is a CC of some kind. There is no skill to this it’s simply seeing who can bring more CC and CC removal. It’s pathetic, you are literally killing the PvP Anet. Have fun getting Esports to be successful for this if you continue down this path of insane power creep.
Anet for the sake of my sanity and I’m sure a very large portion of the adventure profession playing PLEASE NO MORE TRENCH COATS.
I am literally going to cry if the medium legendary is a trench coat or any kind of long coat or some over the top god set like the bladed that looks like it ways 900 pounds. Thieves and Rangers are pretty much supposed to be the most agile classes but for most armor options they are stuck with long coats and trench coats that would only hinder their movement in every way possible. Not to mention most of them really just look flat out bad. What happened to your armor design from gw1.
Look at the armor design from the Witcher series for example. Geralt and Witchers in general are very agile fighters but they need to be able to take some hits. The armor is a great blend of protection and mobility while still looking awesome. You don’t need massive, long over the top coats with tons random stuff thrown on them to make good medium armor. I know you guys are fully capable of making some great armor that doesn’t involve trench coats, a lot of the gw1 ranger armor for example.
I personally love them, they remind me alot of something that a Warcraft druid would wear, which is what my druid is themed off of. If I had my way though the mess of branches would be replaced with feathers or something.
It’s like the devs got drunk as all hell, played a ton of smash bros and then got the genius idea to try to make their own garbage version of a smash bros map and made kittenhammer. Atleast courtyard was fun if you had a good team,it is literally impossible for me to enjoy skyhammer regardless of how well I do.
I have zero problem dealing with this skill even in a 1v1. As soon as you add more than 1 person or a ranger pet, necro minion etc the damage is gone. Stealth will cancel it, 2 dodges in a 1v1 gets rid of almost all damage. The skill is a L2p issue for people like op and nothing more.
I know they were shown off a while back or at least some of them, but are there any plans of adding them in any time soon?
I refuse to even click on the link to read it and give them add revenue.
100% a l2p issue, all it takes to kill a druid is some CC.
Ya they removed it but left the kittening kittenstain known as Skyhammer
I’n my experience it has been the opposite. Everything gets nuked instantly and fights end with 5 people downed because the damage is so high.
It’s 100% about the principle, we paid a very high price for the expac, only $10 short of the base game which added what 10+ armor sets, 15+ weapon sets and a bunch of other stuff. With Hot we got 4 armor sets and like 2 weapons and they are already adding more to the gemstore. They add gliders, give us 1 then nickel and dime us for the other skins. Armor and cosmetic wise I really feel ripped off with this expac, especially since cosmetics are such a large part of the game.
Heres what really puzzles me, we had something like 10+ armor sets for all 3 armor weights and a ton more weapons for each type for the base game at $60 if you bought it a while back. Then you take HoT which already has a lot less content than the base game and then we only get what, 3 or 4 sets and 2 or 3 weapon types? Then in the 2 weeks following HoT’s launch they have added an armor set, weapon set, a glider skin and back pieces. Instead of putting some of these things cough exalted glider*cough* into the masteries or as collections when we are arguably already fairly light on content for the $50 price tag, they have decided to nickel and dime us for things that should have been in the expansion.
Glad to see you are adding more glider skins because we got so many with the expac. Oh wait, we got 1, 2 if we got the collectors. We only got the black and white wings if we bough them from the gemstore, right alongside the bat wings and the crystal arbiter glider. Now you have gone and added the exalted glider that would have been an awesome reward and incentive from something like the exalted mastery line. The base glider is ugly as sin so of course people are going to want to get new skins for it. So what do you do after we pay $50 for the expac? Lock all the purty skins behind the paywall instead of the great mastery system.
Aside from the very obvious animation difference…you could check for the staff in the thief’s hand. Bounding Dodger involves the thief flipping up in the air with their legs in-front of them slamming into the ground, vault they stay in the flip for pretty much the entire animation with the staff out. Also it does not need a damage nerf it’s the only attack on staff that does any reasonable damage.
This is not an issue if you know how to CC. Druids are INCREDIBLY susceptible to crowd control effects. I’ve been bursted down in seconds by capable players that realize this.
Ya but a lot of players are completely incapable so they just go kitten and moan on the forums instead of learning how to deal with it. I haven’t died once in the past like 8 games i’ve had in pvp running a cleric Druid despite alot of my fights being 1v2-3. No one uses an CC and just try to hack away at you.
Thank you for the informative response. Based on your example, I applied a particular ranger skill vs another class.
Ranger LD Rapid Fire Vs Warrior Volley
10 secs CD, 3.75 damage coef, 1500 range
vs
10 sec Cd, 3.0 damage coef, 1200 range
So…how do you explain that? Maybe Rapid Fire should be nerfed by 30-40%?
The 30% is based on the “overall” DPS of using all the weapon skills, so a skill by skill comparison won’t tell the whole tale.
Rapid Fire, for example, is really the only “burst” (i.e. high damage and high coef) skill the Ranger has (aside from Maul, which requires melee range) and is currently propping up the entire class in competitive play. A nerf there without a significant overall DPS buff (to the other skills) would result in the class being mostly unusable in PvP where bursting at the right time is what decides fights.
Ya but thats were most of the community and Anet wants us, unusable in pvp.
Would be nice if Druid/Ranger didn’t get a nerf every five minutes.
While it would be nice it would take Anet actually giving a kitten about them and not them wanting nerfed into uselessness.
The Lingering Light nerf was too much. I understand that it may needed a shave but this thrown the trait into oblivion and made Ancient Seeds the more appealing choice..
Ancient seeds its indeed a strong trait.
My question is why shouldnt Rangers have strong traits?
Why every time you see something strong in a Ranger ( hello We heal As One ) you should ask to be nerfed into oblivion?
Because only anything thats not a Ranger is allowed to have them because this community is utter kitten and whines and cries as soon as something strong shows up that isn’t and ele, mesmer or guard.
This is literally the worst treatment of a class I have ever seen in any game. Congratz guys I’ll send you a little plaque you can hang up in your office congratulating you.
Everyone asking for 24/7 Ranger nerfs can go kitten them selves.
Shocker immediately after Rangers get nerfed you kittening kittens are asking for more nerfs. I know that majority of the PvP community absolutely hates Rangers with every bone in their body but are perfectly ok with D/D eles being broken for months and all of the other op things that no one mentions and the devs ignore. You can all go kitten yourselves.
Please Anet give us the Monkey King run, walk and idle animation for staff. I’m not asking for the really long bounding stride, simply the staff slung over the shoulder, which would transition well into the start of just about every attack on the staff. You made the attack animations into very fitting and fluid animations. These don’t go well with the hunched over hammer animation that looks like your character is struggling to hold the staff up. I know I’m not the only one who would love to see the animation changed. Thanks
Can I ask why it was made to degenerate in the first place? It literally killed being able to properly heal in 99% of situations and is there any plans to increase the AF gain? Currently it builds far to slow in anything but a large drawn out fight both in PvP and PvE, theres been multiple games during PvP where I only managed to hop into CA once or twice despite healing team mates and being in the thick of group fights. That is completely unacceptable. No other spec has their special ability locked out 99% of the time. CA in it’s current state is a horrid version of adrenaline for Warriors except they can build it with only 1 or 2 abilities in a very short amount of time.
Anet kittening over Rangers, business as usual, everyone can move on.
We got a USEFUL F2 skill and u took it away… why???
Because Anet hates us and don’t want us having anything remotely nice.
How about Smokescale goes when every other hard hitting ability in the game goes away or Rangers get the option to get rid of a broken piece of kitten that 30% of our damage is locked behind. kitten off with your witch hunts against anything half decent Rangers get. Go complain about D/D ele or something.
Looks like Anet being kittens to Rangers as usual while letting other classes keep bullkitten for months and years.
I’m really trying hard not to type out certain words describing Anet in regards to Ranger but all that would accomplish is me getting suspended or banned from the forums. They simply dont give a flying kitten about the Ranger and should just come out and back up their actions with words because we all know it. I have never seen a developer outright hate a class as much as Anet seems to hate Rangers and it’s making me want to quit the game.
Irenio has done some amazing work for the prof lately. the druid was really well designed, but needs a few more tweaks. he basically inherited a pile of poop of a profession that had no feel or direction to it. half of our utilities and weapons need to be redesigned from scratch more or less. the druid was a great step in the right direction.
He did decent and now all the decent work he did is completely ruined thanks to the astral force gain change. Druid is utter garbage now, good luck using celestial avatar more than twice a match. Rangers are nerfed within days while other classes are nerfed within years. Anet legitimately hates Rangers. They can deny it all they want but their track record with it shows otherwise.
Near the Jotuns and inside of the Shaman jumping puzzle there is some blown out lighting that me and my friends saw.
I absolutely love how many people were praising Irenio and hailing him as being the saviour of the Ranger. No comments yet about this bullkitten and I just love how they didn’t tell us all of the changes until release. The Druid is kitten now.
Bwe3 I averaged 600k+ healing
now struggling to get to 200k healing per match running clerics and dwayna runes
It is almost impossible to be able to build up enough to use it in almost all fights. Thank you anet for nerfing druid to the ground in all your glorious “wisdom”.
Thanks guys for making a healing elite spec that doesn’t have access to the main healing part of it in majority of situations because you guys decided to butcher the astral force gain, make us lose said astral force gained in about half a second when we leave combat not even leaving us time to switch targets half the time and then making it a pitiful duration when we actually manage to get into celestial form. Glad to see the only place you want this used is raids.
Our pets have been juveniles for 3 years now. A number of the pets we have access to have better looking models as adults as well as better sized models. I don’t want some small wolf whos head barely goes up to my waist or a grizzly that doesn’t even go up to my shoulder. I want full grown animals that don’t look like tamed house pets. When you activate Signet of the Wild it actually brings most of the pets close to their adult size, which looks far better.
Don’t even try to deny that you would rather have full grown animals as pets, or even add a small leveling thing to them that is just cosmetic where the more you use them the bigger they get until they reach adulthood.
If I remember correctly they originally had a system like that in mind before the game launched then scrapped. Please just give us adult pets, no stat change simply cosmetic.
The stowed Icon is just sitting there and pressing it/relogging nothing fixes it so no pet for me.
I’m about done with the class honestly. It’s been my main for almost 3 years and I’ve put up with the seemingly endless amount of problems, the complete and utter disregard from the devs for the class. This buff/nerf 100% proves how little the devs care about the class, wouldn’t surprise me if the devs simply hated the class, after all they have done just about everything to make sure it wasn’t meta in any game mode and have done as little as possible to help the class. I’m sure the healing from Druid will be nerfed to the ground within 5 minutes from ele and war cries and anet will listen because they have a kitten for them. Whatever, your on the verge of losing a player, not over this by itself just the bullkitten players of this class have had to and will continue to put up with over the course of this games life time.
Like people are saying FXAA is blurrier but very little hit, SMAA is sharper but more of a hit. I found that the SMAA available from something such as ReShade is actually better and a lower fps hit than the one that Gw2 offers if fps is an issue for you.
+1, really the only place I see this causing problems is in WvW honestly which could be solved by simply making shadowsteps/teleports invalid on walls and a few other surfaces. There would need to be some tweaking to ensure exploits aren’t used in pve as well but it really would be a massive quality of life change and I think It would help make ports/shadowsteps more unique instead of the equivalent to normal gap closers with a cooler animation, except some gap closer like guardian great sword 3 is actually better for getting to certain places than teleports. Totally makes sense
This honestly is my single biggest gripe with this game. The human male hairstyles consist of what 2 or 3 long ones a few decent short ones and then the rest look something out of a boy band. They are terrible, I don’t see why humans and norn can’t at least share a few hairstyles, beards seeing how similar they are.
Then there is the armor….which I think is a problem for medium armor as a whole, with some cases in light and heavy, however I will focus on medium because it really is in the worst place. The heavy looking coats go decently with engineers because they don’t really fit the whole fast paced highly mobile adventurous themes of Rangers and Thieves, so for me it is more of an issue facing Thieves and Rangers. Over half of the medium armor is the farthest thing from mobile or practical for agile people. There are still coat types they could focus on that wouldn’t hinder mobility or look stupid. The pictures I attached are all armor styles that would fit perfectly with the Thief/Ranger class. The first picture still keeps the coat style that anet seems to be obsessed with but it’s in a much more practical way and in a similar style to what has been used thoroughly throughout the worlds history. The others go away from the coat style while keeping the very rugged adventure type look.
+1 but as much as I would love this I doubt they would ever put it because you would have tons of people crying that they can’t see and blah blah blah even though it would add immensely to immersion, game play etc. They might as well just take the night cycle out of the game all it does is change the color tint slightly. Luckily things like reshade and gemfx let you make stuff darker but i’d still rather have them actually make it darker. They have a nice dynamic lighting system when it comes to torches and what not and it’s a shame that this almost never gets shown or used.
Meaning that because it exists isn’t a motive for adding more of it.
Clipping is never going to go away, restricting items because of the possible clipping is pointless, they might as well never add anything else to the game with your logic because it will add to the clipping.
I love the helmet though, it fits my more middle eastern styled, desert dweller look well along with a more Asian ninjaish theme.
Making flowing stuff isn’t the hard part, the hard part is not having horribly clipping issues.
Implying there isn’t already massive amounts of clipping involving both weapons and armor.
If they gave Rangers spears at some point or even better spear/shield I would be the happiest person in existence.
Warden anyone?
I would be fully ok with any of that.
Currently the trait Light on your Feet in SM only triggers on dodging even though it is for the most part a shortbow trait. It would make more sense if it triggered on dodge and evade or simply evade to go better with the evade on SB #3. Also either the duration or the tool tip is bugged/wrong. The tool tip says it lasts for 4 seconds but when triggered it only lasts for 2.
That’s it, increase everyones movement by 25% and remove swiftness from the game. The more you think about it the more you realize it just limits everyones build. Swiftness is always a must have.
BASELINE! :p
Or you know run with people that have differing builds. Swiftness shouldn’t be baseline it’s already ridiculously easy to get even if you aren’t running using something that gives it. The game doesn’t need to be any faster than it already is.
I’m doing just as well before the patch, with the added survivability etc. I still get 1st or second on my team almost every game, in unranked but still not much has changed for me. The build I’m running is pretty much the same except I’ve swapped healing spring for troll ungent due to the condi clear and fury on survival skill use, which including troll ungent I’m running 3. Then again you will almost never find me anywhere but an elevated position.
