These gliders were invented by some Asura or other, weren’t they?
Just saying. < mentally wags finger >
Yes. And the question is one I asked myself.
Have to agree with you about information. Most games do tend to be a bit obscure. But most have decent Wikis run by people who like to inform rather than score points.
If I may, can I offer some further suggestions?
You can skip forward. So, if a quest is just too difficult, leave it and come back later.
If you buy the Heart of Thorns expansion, don’t use the Lev 80 boost thing until you have take at least one character there by graduation.
Also, do use the bonus to buy Season 2. It’s a lot of fun and answers a lot of questions for later.
I think it’s the programmers frankly, a wicked sense of humour.
I don’t think it’s on purpose. The problem is the space key itself. I suspect that keyboards don’t properly follow the same rules for space as they do for the other keys. Mainly because there are two springs and two contacts (on each end) in most keyboards.
I gave that serious consideration as well but came to the conclusion that it is intentional for two reasons.
Firstly, the effect isn’t consistent. Sometimes the wings expand too easily, such as some of the jumping games, others, they seem reluctant to expand, such as the rickety platforms in the caves of Dredgehaunt Cliffs.
Secondly, if you try using a different keyboard, there is no difference.
Personally, I don’t see it as a criticism of the programmers, far from it. Some of the rewards at the end of the jumping puzzles are pretty attractive. And the struggles to reach the objectives in the Dredgehaunt Cliffs caves could be bypassed if the wings activated as quickly as they do in the jumping puzzles.
Try saturating your Internet connection by streaming a video download and a large file upload while playing the game.
The issue is the network component of the abilities, not that your client plays the jumping animation when you press the jump button.
I’m not disagreeing with you. The issue seems to emerge from several sources.
However, I claimed that when connection went down, movement stopped. In that I was wrong.
I’m sorry I don’t have any suggestions or solutions. I’ve tried everything I can think of and ended up abandoning some jumping puzzles altogether.
You seem to have a particular problem with a slow connection is must be infuriating.
I’ve wondered, if I were to open a new account and play as free, so not have any glider, how would the problem work out.
It does perhaps raise the other issue of not using the Lev 80 upgrade, and therefore gliding, until you are ready.
but movement is handled client side …
Apologies, I was wrong.
Just checked, while playing, disconnected the modem and movement, including jumping, was still available for a few seconds, then the screen went blank.
I didn’t get a chance to check any weapons or interaction.
but movement is handled client side …
Not sure that is entirely the case. When the connection goes down, player movement doesn’t work. But some other types does.
Just saying. It does suggest that a feed back with the server is necessary.
However, I came to the conclusion that the point and time at which auto-gliding kicks in seems to be programmed into many situations. This is indicated by the way is sometimes doesn’t kick in very quickly and even not at all. Such as some of the rickety platforms above the caves in Dredgehaunt Cliffs
The glider will only activate if you hold down space, or if you push space again while you’re starting to fall. Tap space to jump, and you won’t have automatic glider deployment.
This is totally false. Gliding is extremely inconsistent. Sometimes you hold it down and nothing happens, and other times you touch it to jump and you end up gliding.
Agreed. Same problem. Especially on jumping puzzles.
I also find that sometimes is doesn’t activate when I really need it, such as one of those important jumps to an almost similar level. I can fall for a bit before a double tap activates those wings, meaning I end up too low for my objective.
I think it’s the programmers frankly, a wicked sense of humour.
How some seem to be immune from it may be a bit more sinister.
It could just be the ghost of Mordremoth, pretending to be players.
Graphics card. There is a lot of nonsense talked about with graphics cards. In reality, problems with slow graphics in games mostly come from bad programming, overloaded servers and slow connections. I personally use a GTX 760+. It’s at the very low end. Anything better is what to look for.
You can end up spending more on a graphics card than the rest of the PC, for little or no benefit. If you intend to use fancy viewers, such as Occulous Rift or an enormous screen, then you probably will need a high end graphics card. Otherwise, save your money now. If you do get a Rift later, the buy the appropriate card then. With the cost of RIFT, the card will be small beans in comparison.

Sound. Mega sound systems are fine, but quickly get old. Motherboards invariably have onboard sound so use that and get something else later if you have to allow the neighbours. Remember to buy a pair of powered speakers though. Or at least a set of headphones.
Power supply. 850 Watt is usually what you need for a standard gaming rig.
The PSU should deliver enough power for your rig with a little to spare. If it is too big, you are wasting money, too small, the system will eventually crash.
The better stores will advise you, if you show them a list of what you are going to use.
Corsair is generally said to be the better make at this time, but others, especially EVGA are equally good. If your store is very reputable and they offer their own brand, these may be fine.
A modular PSU is tidier, since you only plug in the leads you are going to use. But be careful not to loose the spares.
Storage. Forget internal DVD drives. you rarely use them and they need to be started each time you restart your PC, slowing down start up, using power and wearing down the DVD so it is quickly useless anyway. Get a good quality external DVD which plugs into the USB port. It can be take out when its needed.
Hard Drives. These are old tech. Avoid. If they are offered as part of a bundle, it is because the company is trying to offload old stock.
SSDs, get the biggest you can afford. An onboard SSD is essential for your OS, at least 250Gb but 500Gb is better. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-850-EVO-Internal-MZ-N5E250BW/dp/B00TGIW1XG?th=1
But remember to get more SSDs for your storage. I suggest a couple of 250Gb or more. Or you could go for a 250Gb now and a 500Gb later. Games such as GW2 take up loads of space. Photos, music and others.
Some SSDs are btter than others. Frankly Crutial have a reputation to maintain so sticking with them is not a bad idea.
Also, remember, with SSDs, the bigger the better, with the offset of the initial cost. So, having a 250Gb M2 SSD for your OS might seem overkill when the OS only takes up about 70 Gb of space. But the realities are rather different.

Good luck. It’s all in the research.
If you want a ready built system then it’s really a matter of going to reliable store. Having some knowledge of what to look for and what to avoid will mean you get better value for your cash.
If you can build yourself or know someone who can then even better.
Case. Get a full sized case that looks good.If you like flashing lights or something more toned down, it’s entirely up you you.
Fit fans where-ever possible, but have most extracting. On mine, I have a 200mm fan with filter, at the front pushing air in and several 100mm fans around the case pulling it out. The most important function of any case is to keep the dust out, so it makes sense to minimise the sources.
In particular, never allow a fan on the bottom or top of the case to be sucking air in. If it does, turn it around. The most important thing is, the main intake must have some sort of filter and this will need to be cleaned regularly.
Avoid bundles. Many will come with a built in PSU. This may be OK, especially if it is at least 850 Watts. At the worst, you can replace it with something better.
Motherboard. Not all MBs are equal. The cheaper ones generally have cheaper components, cheaper manufacturing and are often noticeably more flimsily. ASUS is the best followed, at a distance, by Gigabyte and MSI. Since the motherboard is the backbone of any PC, try to go for the best you can afford.
Stick to a standard size MB. There are smaller versions available, which may look cool, but in reality finding cards to fit these is a pain.

CPU. You really need to be looking at Intel i5 as a minimum. i7 is better. If you budget is tight, you can upgrade to an i7 later if you need to.
Personally I will strongly recommend Intel. AMD are basically catch up and cheap for a reason.
Notice the socket may be different for different CPUs. Buy a motherboard that has an appropriate socket for your CPU. Or the other way around. If you stick to Intel CPUs Skylake Architecture, then you will be fine.

Memory. 8Gb RAM is the minimum you need these days. 16Gb is better. You may be persuaded to pay extra for terms such as latency, or RAM speed. In reality, the difference in performance between the cheaper and more expensive RAM is very small.
Get fast RAM by all means, but slower, (though not the slowest), will generally give identical performance to faster.
Also, avoid RAM that comes with metal cooling fins, especially if they come with flashy names such as Vengeance or Fury. These invariably cost a lot more and do very little. Especially for the home builder. Good case cooling will do more for RAM performance than all the fins in the world.

The OP asked for advice and that is what I have provided.
Tom’s Hardware is a well established outfit, recognised and cited, industry wide. It’s comparison charts and building guides are accepted as some of the best around.
The other 8 companies I’ve cited, likewise, are equally accepted as legitimate and reliable.
I really don’t need an argument every time I post.
What I do want to ask, which class would be as great as guardian in terms of damage, team utility, some tricks and more ways to go about using different utility skills and weapons?
Have a look at Mesmer. It’s frequently said to have the lowest DPS of all, but I certainly haven’t found that. It does have the weakest armour though, which is a challenge.
It has some great ranged weapons. Close up, not so much.
It’s ability to create clones is really handy, After you’re downed, they carry on fighting. It can also conjure up a golem.
It can create portals and the Blink utility is excellent for running away.
Loads of other utilities to aid allies.
1060 a tier above the 390/390x/480? 1070 a tier above a 980ti/Fury X? GTX 960 a tier below a 7970/770/380? That’s a pretty seriously flawed list.
It is updated regularly and is generally taken as the standard reference for serious PC builders.

Read the text. Look at the available card and check prices.
Personally, I’m using a GTX 760. It’s smooth and reliable. You should choose what suits you best.
Going into the HoT maps is suicide if you are a new player and very confusing story wise since you jump about 3 story arcs.
I would advise levelling the old fashioned way – this game downscales to the map level so you will always be around people in the maps (all maps are relevant in this game not just level 80 ones). You will also learn your profession better.
The levelling process is fairly quick, so it’s not a grind on your first char- I;d personally save the level 80 up for an alt once you are familiar with the game.
I’ll second that. Big mistake I made. There is so much to learn from the lower levels, not to mention the story line.
I will also suggest you do season 2. You need to pay for it using one of the many currencies this game uses. You have these credited anyway, so no actual real world cash.
But the most important reason for getting at least one character up to 80, by graduation is that you can then make a more informed decision as to which profession you want to use.
1. What’s best way to get equipment? Buying it from other players in black shop?
2. This game is so expanded, how long can it take to be a good player? D
To add to these two point.
1. Personally, I buy everything from the market. I refer the one in Rata Sum. It has the same stuff, but the chat is more interesting. Plus, those Asura are so self possessed, they make me laugh.
2. To be a half decent player you really need to keep playing about 23 hours a day. I suggest you get a load of bottles and some wet wipes. Plus glucose drinks, caffeine, and anything else you can think of.
But remember, that will only make you half good.
It does seem to be either unfinished or half baked.
Perhaps it could go on a quest and find a decent ranged weapon. As things stand, there are numerous quests or monsters, where close contact is not feasible, it simply can’t do.
Being an essentially super natural character, it could be almost anything.
There are more to come.
Have to agree with you, the construction of NPC’s characters and their respective story lines in GW2 is quite remarkable and sets a standard.
Personally I didn’t really like WoW. I played for a while, because a relative was there. It had a few interesting, if very short lived, story lines. But these were hardly exploited and the dialogue, such as it was, was pretty lame.
Not sure where you are yet with GW2, but I will urge you to get Season 2.
Destiny’s Edge has disbanded. Another group has emerged with very different, yet equally strong characters.
Have a look at this clip. It’s about 20 mins long and features three very strong characters. It might be a bit of a spoiler for things yet to come for you, or it might not, sicne I don’t know how are you’ve gotten yet.
Good lord, are you being serious? Longbow on ranger hits like a wet noodle these days. Most rangers drop it for staff to be competitive, or use it for the nostalgic feeling.
………………………………………………………………………
The only thing a ranger longbow has over the rev hammer is the AA. Rev’s AA is slow, though decent, not great, damage.
Try again.
Damage coefficients are from the official API. I am to believe that you are more accurate?
Evidently.
The comparisons are for different character classes, each lev 80, on the same account.
I am also bound to point out, again, that the Rev Hammer is slow, inaccurate and of limited effectiveness.
Continuing on from azureai, the main difference with the races is their personalities.
The Char have wild west, approach. In many respects they are similar to the Norn in objectives, but while the Norn are principled, cultured and self-disciplined, the Char seem almost uncouthed and gallus.
The Char are felines who were formally under the control of their Shamen. They now proclaim they have over thrown their gods as an indication they can do anything.
In some respects, their attitude is reckless. They seem to reject metaphysics, which must be interesting. One prominent Char, Rytlock, is now an Reverent. Presumably he squares that circle in his usual style.
They live in Ascolon, an area formally controlled by humans. The humans are all dead now but continue to occupy the Char as ghosts. Unfortunately for the Char, ghosts who seem to resurrect after being destroyed.
Their society is very structured, in a military sense. Their relationship to their Warband and commanders seems to take up most of their lives. But their are also Char who are essentially free agents, Gladium. They are seen by most Char as the lowest or the orders.
You will be given an opportunity to choose to belong to a Warband or be Gladium when you create your Char character.
If I may, can I suggest you begin with and Engineer?
That seems to be the sort of thing a Char would do. It’s also quite a strong character.
The chestnut with any laptop is cooling.
Almost all (with minor exceptions), tend to drag the air in at the base then shove it out, at the side.
In theory, fine, but the base is next to the table and sometimes, people even put the Laptop on their beds, making the situation even worse.
Added to that is the amount of dirt dragged in, even from a clean desk.
The fins tend to be quite compact so air flow isn’t brilliant at the best of times.
So make sure you can easily clean the cooling and remember to do it, you should be OK.
Performance wise, AMD has lagged behind Intel for many years now and this isn’kittens catchup.
If you can afford it, go for an Intel i5 should be OK, but i7 is better.
Also, make sure they install a large, (over 1Tb), SSD. Many Laptop makes are trying to palm off their stock of HDs.
HDs are essentially old tech.
Rev hammer already has >= damage coefficients than warrior and engi rifle …
Axe throwing would be a ranger.
Oh dear. You haven’t played Revenant have you?
Even the Wiki gets the weapons right: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Revenant#Weapons
I don’t really mind to be honest. There is a small squad of trolls on this forum and the Wiki who seem determined to distort information and make life as difficult for any newish players. Like others before me, I try to ignore you.
But Revenant’s lack any ranged skills. They can throw short distances, for little damage.
Hammer is slow, does very little and is the reason I personally, don’t equip my Revenant with one anymore.
By comparison with genuine Ranged Weapons such as the long bow of a Hunter
Rapid Fire (dam (10x) 2400 range 1500))
or Mesmer: Confusing Images (dam (6x) >3000, Range >900) and Phantasmal Dualist (Dam (8x) >2000, Range >1000),
neither heavy armoured, the little Revenant is outclassed and kinda silly.
Revenant’s skill of charging into battle is also of little real use. It does very little real damage and because of failures in programming, more often than not, NPCs stand back and don’t rush forward to join the beleaguered Revenant and he gets pummelled. (Even fellow Revenant, Rytlock!)
I’m sure you have a lot to contribute, but contradicting with inaccurate information based upon your own ignorance is unhelpful to the questioner and to others.
- Liquid cooling (lol) for that processor is overkill.
On that note (noticing the number of “cool” choices for closed liquid cooling… I would never recommend them to anyone thats not hardcore into computers… and even then its meh. Twice as costly, noisy pumps, the fans are usually kitten and the cooling capabilities equal a good air cooler which is 100x simpler to handle with custom fans, especially if you want a silent PC (water cooling =! silent).
This
By a long way, the best CPU cooler I’ve found is Noctua. Not expensive and with a performance far better than anything else in the price bracket.
Plus, strongly suggest you get an M2 SSD for your OS, at least 250Gb, more if you can afford it. Plus SSDs.
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=m2+ssd
I’ve played several characters almost entirely solo. It is very frustrating, especially the lack of coherent, intelligible information in the Wiki. Added to that is a terrible chat facility, so if you do ask other players, they have to be nearby and the chances are you will be ignored anyway.
Some things need a lot of thought, especially, if it is actually worth it. For example, I abandoned Mystery Cave and joined a group to do Hearts and Minds.
One of the great things about GW2 is you can easily go back to abandoned quests.
The best advice I’ve had is keep moving. Most monsters are pretty slow.
Perhaps a Travel ban.
And a Register of all Sylvari.
A wall around The Grove. And the Sylvari can pay for it.
Some Sylvari allied with Mordremoth. But so did some from every other race.
Seems a bit racist to blame all Sylvari for the actions of a few.
And they are (mostly) so cute.
Revenants lack ranged weapons. They can throw some axes for minor damage, but otherwise are close range.
I play one just for fun of working out how to handle it. Needless to say, I’ve had to avoid a lot of quests.
Personally, I love to see Revenant’s getting a nice gun, or perhaps a flame thrower.
Just to be sure, you do know about taxi right? About right clicking on the commander and picking “join in xxx map”. Not being sarcastic
Else as stated, its more often a lack of commanders then people (often the commander dont even need to do anything, just be a tag). I blame it on “/how many others are in this map” mentality, 99% of people will asume that a map is emty if there are no tags, even if its a 95% full map
I didn’t know that either.
I’ve seen these a few times, in full pelt. They seemed fun but I didn’t know how to join or who to ask.
May I ask though, you say, be there 15 mins before start.
What time is the 15 mins before?
Where do these things usually start?
Thanks in advance.

Spacial and Pifil, you’re miscommunicating.
I think Spacial was looking for the specific reason for that collection what made it so special as to warrant doing something one found tedious. Because the HoT Chapter 1 collection gives an ascended item, which in turn is an item in another item collection achievement
Pifil was answering the question in a general sense. Because item collections give rewards.
Spacial and Pifil, correct me if I’m wrong on my interpretation of your posts.
Thank you. Exactly.
Now can I suggest we have some fun here and not take things so seriously?

And as I pointed out to you, I was asking what is the point of these rewards.
The description at the top of the page is both obtuse and incoherent. Commonly known as click-bate. That is, chasing link after link, trying to follow some line of reasoning when what should have been stated was the information in the first place.
For example:
Completing collections gives various exclusive items and mastery points. For example, completing the fist part of heart of thorns gives an exclusive ascended amulet, which is itself part of another over-collection for a backpiece, and a mastery point. These items can ONLY be acquired by completing the relevant collection.
Perfectly described.
As opposed to the click-bate description at the top of the page, which actually says nothing at all.
But I am at a loss to understand why it is you seem determined to get yourself so wound up over a game.
Calm down. It’s supposed to be a laugh. something to pass the time.
And you know what? The good guys always win. It’s a game. It’s a bit of fun. Not real at all.
No-one cares how long you’ve been playing or what specs your character has. Because it’s a bit of fun. Nothing more.
A forum is a place to ask questions. On what amounts to a bit of fun.
Sending people off on a wild goose chase is one thing, but when you get annoyed because they don’t understand, that’s not normal.
A asked again. I got a great answer. End of.
Because………………………..
It’s – all – a – bit – of – fun.
Now, smile. And eat your greens.

Came looking for an answer to this and glad it’s a big and not how it’s intended. I am replaying the story on another character and could have sworn I remember the NPCs attacking every god kitten mob in the labyrinth, but this time nothing? When I got to the boss I couldn’t believe they were just following after me… took me ages to kill him. If you say this is all the story instances so help me God.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. There is no point in continuing to try to talk to you as you simply do not understand the terms being used. A Collection in gw2 is a very specific thing, defined in detail on that page. Goodbye.
The page doesn’t define what the purpose of these collections is.
I asked and will ask again.
Boogiepop is complaining about the tedium. I have asked him why he is bothering?
What is the point of doing something that is so tedious?
Given that it gains nothing other than another item in your inventory.
An example, Boogiepop Void.6473 seems to be annoyed about the tedium of completing these particular masterys.
I’m bound to ask why bother?
I’m sure there is some profound reason, sadly, I haven’t found it.
But a rather more pressing question for you Pifil.

So, to ask again, what is the point of doing something that is so tedious?
So you’re definitely not talking about the same thing as us. Look up the term collection in the wiki. You’ll understand what they are then.
We’re talking about exactly the same thing.
What is the point of doing something, whatever obscure term you choose to use, that is so tedious?
Alluding to the original point:
There is hard and there is TEDIOUS. One can be fun, the other is not. This is tedious. It’s just poorly thought out busy work to throw an extra achieve into the instance.
Does the activity, described by Boogiepop have any point at all?
Does it provide him with any equipment, currencies or assets which can be utilised in another aspect of his, or anyone else’ game?
Thank you for the Wiki entry. Like most GW2 wiki entries it defines with little definition.

I’m not sure that you’re talking about the same thing we are, achievements, not quests or masteries. Completing all the achievements for a chapter gives an ascended trinket that is part of a collection.
We are talking about the same thing, namely the point of doing these achievements, given that they are said to be tedious.
A collection of what?
I have numerous collections of all sorts of things from Weird Water to Odd Orbs. I have stones, oils, nougats, essences, slivers, silvers and seeds.
I also have a collection of books. Presumably Tyrians don’t have the internet.
Added to that I have an enormous collection of almost every wood available, 750 for most, plus: cloths, stones, blood, guts, bones, bits, things and enough food to make my long late grandmother complain, again, that it wasn’t like this in the war.
And I have two characters, who’s backpacks are serving as supplementary storage. and currencies which would send a normal economy into recession.
As tempting as an ascended trinket is, it might be nice to know quite what its purpose is.
Leaving aside where I am expected to store it.
I realise my collection of 3.5 thousand airship parts are ideal for buying bladed gear from the Itzel, but frankly, the gear isn’t as good as what I have or regularly find.
I would love to make Elite gear. Sadly, to get that Mastery I need 9 Tyrian points, but only have 2 and no means left to get more, as far as I know. If there are any means I would be grateful to learn.
So, to ask again, what is the point of doing something that is so tedious?

I still don’t understand why you mentioned which classes you have done it on since the bunny is a transformation so you don’t have access to your class’ skills in the first place.
But your second point is not always true. Exploits don’t involve altering programming code yet they are still cheating.
I fail to see how. But then almost every aspect of this game is obtuse.
An example, Boogiepop Void.6473 seems to be annoyed about the tedium of completing these particular masterys.
I’m bound to ask why bother?
I’m sure there is some profound reason, sadly, I haven’t found it.

He’s talking about the achievement for killing the alpha without reviving any allies. The story step itself isn’t the issue here it’s the sheer tediousness of this achievement.
I was pointing out that it’s all about technique.
And actually I’ve been told the party trick was fixed so now the only choice is to bring tons of Fire Ele Power and Ogre whistles. Or in other words, regardless of method, the only way to finish i a reasonable time IS TO CHEAT.
If something is possible and doesn’t involve altering programming code, then it’s hardly cheating.

I have sent you the solution.
I have managed to solo this quest quite easily using a Mesmer, a Hunter and a Revenant.
I’m pleased that you have managed it and don’t doubt it was a reasonably simple matter for you.
But it isn’t for me and I was only asking for some help.

have you tried dulfy? I haven’t played the instance recently, but the last time I played it through dulfy was accurate.

I did find that one but I couldn’t tie it up to the events themselves. I couldn’t find that first noble, nor see any co-relation with the actual layout.
It was made all the more confusing by the wiki giving a very different scenario.
There also seems to be 3 different achievement levels, which are also rather different.
I can only assume there are a number of different ways to get through this one.
Since it relates to parts of the story which are no-longer available, I was hoping someone would know what was going on.
Thanks anyway. I’ll just have to take trial and error I suppose.
Does anyone know how to solve this strange instance?
I’ve checked so many different sources, Wiki, several YouTube videos and several sites claiming to solve it, but each time, they seem to be dealing with something different.
Has the quest been altered?
Can someone say what the sequence is?
I will be really grateful.
Another option to look at are your display drivers. Updating is a must of course, but removing the old drivers first is frequently a good idea.

It will analyse your setup and indicate bottlenecks.
I’ve used MajorGeeks for a number of years. It has an excellent reputation for checking everything, I’ve never had any reason to complain about any of their stuff.
It’s freeware.
1. Sadly, these scams seem to appear in many games.
They have been known to had out in-game currency for a while, collecting credit card numbers in the process.
Here are the specs for that CPU. It is quite old. The temp should be around 55C+.

My first computer was a Jupiter Ace, in 1983. I still have that, though it hasn’t been on in over 25 years.
There is nothing wrong with old computers, if they do what you want them to. I have a small laptop from 2008, which is very slow. But it is very useful for Skype. I have almost all non essential services turned off and regularly ignore complaints from Skype.
The problem with computers is, when a new series comes out, programmers immediately treat the new facilities as their’s to be used.
Example. In the late 80s, in the days of the 386 PCs, there was an excellent suite called WordPerfect. It was a word processor with brilliant spell checking, good grammar, good language translation, brilliant graphics and so on. It cost a bomb and filled a 100Mb hard drive. Those being the largest available at the time.
Today, a word processor program with those facilities would take up over 100Gb. 1000 times more space for what is essentially, the same product.
The point is, since the largest HD was about 100Mb, (actually, it was 70Mb but the technology to chain several drives was available), so the programmers presumed they could could use it all.
Your old PC will be fine for programs that don’t push its limits. But graphics games like GW2 will probably be the death of it.
Thanks onevstheworld. and Leaa.
Playing Season 2 now and really enjoying it.
I’d recommend it to anyone.
Dont use the lvl 80 booster and jump right into the expansion-maps … that wouldnt end well.
This. ^
New player as well, though I’ve got several characters to lev 80.
Check how many Gems you have banked. Click your inventory, then the coin symbol on the bottom LH side. Then, when you reach lev 80, buy the season 2 episodes with the Gems. I only recently took this advice and wish I’d done so earlier.
As others have said, take your time and get the feel of the place. But don’t expect a lot of player interaction. Most will help now and again, when you’re involved in a group activity or similar, but few seem willing to stop for conversations.
If this game has one weakness, it’s that, frankly.
You can use your lev 80 boost when you know about the different races, professions and so on. You can only use it once. And they are not for sale.
Personally, I have 6 characters, but keep 2 or 3 as extra storage. Experienced players might say that’s unnecessary, but I haven’t figured out what to throw away yet and I don’t really want to be playing more than 3 characters in a game like this.
You can use the Wiki to find out what you can buy with any currency. Just search for the name and you’ll be taken to a summary page about the currency which will include a list of vendors.
It might be tricky as a new player to know what you might want to get with them, but in the worst case you can always get more later on if you buy something and then decide you want something else.
Did that, wise as ever. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Currency
No big deal. One thing I’ve learnt with these types of games is, as far as possible, to take things as they come. The bank system is great because I can store huge amounts of consumables without using up personal space.
This has to be one of the more complicated games of this type.
Currently enjoying the first section of Season 2.
You might want to put a Spoilers note/tag on your thread title since you’re getting some spoilers that other players might not want to know about yet.
During Season 2 the Pale Tree is attacked by a champion of Mordremoth and is very seriously wounded. We still don’t know how well she has recovered. Also, as you already stated, the Sylvari are Mordy minions. The Pale Tree, I believe, is a purified Blighting Pod (you’ll encounter Blighting Pods and what they do as you do more HoT story). It’ll explain it a bit more as you do more HoT story, but basically some Sylvari are able to resist the call of Mordy and some aren’t.
As for the egg, as was said above, Caithe stole it while we were distracted because she believes it is her duty to protect it. Basically, she just acts rashly and goes about doing the right thing is a really bad way.
Thank you for your response.
Understand about spoiler tags. I must say, it might be difficult to decide where spoiler tags begin, they could be called for for everything after lev 1 or everything after the most current release. Since Season 2 has been locked, it seemed reasonable to be thinking of spoiler tags for HoT onward.
I have a load of Crystals in the inventory, along with a number of other currencies. Many given when I bought the Expansion. It has occurred to be to use them to open Season 2.
I have held off, as far as possible, using any of the currencies, other than gold/silver/copper because I don’t know if these may become essential later.
So far, other than stuff bought from the auction, there seems very little worth buying, so very little use for the other currencies.
I think I’ll splash out on Season 2. After all, what’s the worst that can happen?
