I did my world completion way back in 2012 and since then, they have added a few waypoints and POI’s to some of the vanilla maps, which caused my world completion percentage to go below 100%. When I unlocked these waypoints and POI’s and got back to 100% I did not receive any new reward for world completion. So I don’t see how this could be a problem (or an unfair advantage) for those who already have world completion.
HOT maps should obviously only count towards world completion for players who have HOT.
Since it is one world, I don’t think it makes sense for the new maps to be excluded from world completion. Yes, it would be more time consuming for newer players to achieve world completion but if you look at it that way, pretty much everything was easier in the past. Dungeon Explorer achievement was far easier to get before the Aetherblade path was added to TA, dungeons did not cap Diminishing Returns and so on. I don’t think that’s a valid argument.
It doesn’t make much sense to me that maps like Southsun Cove and the new HOT maps (only for players who have HOT) do not count towards world completion. i understand that this would make world completion significantly more tedious but it just doesn’t feel right otherwise. For some reason, I feel all of the newer maps feel somewhat disconnected from the vanilla maps. I’m not sure if this is the reason or if it has to do with the design of those maps. Any thoughts?
Logically, I think it would make most sense for Primordus to be the final dragon.
1. It was the first dragon that players were introduced to in GW1. So it would be very fitting to fight it last, very reminiscent of Eye of The North, which was the last GW1 chapter (if you don’t consider Beyond).
2. If it is fought last, it will have been awake for the longest duration and will likely be stronger than the dragons that were fought previously, which would make for an epic finale to the story.
3. While this may not mean much, the wiki says that after Primordus’ rise, the other dragons started to wake, one by one. They could possibly expand on this over the years and portray it as the oldest and baddest of them all, perhaps even being a kind of a leader of sorts (I know dragons do not seem to work with each other but still).
4. It has arguably been the least influential dragon up until this point (I said arguably because of DSD).
I would be disappointed if Primordus is not the last dragon.
(edited by Sundar.1735)
Considering how Mordremoth was practically invulnerable and immortal (if not for the existence of Trahearne) and its ability to actually speak to the player and access pretty much any location within Tyria, I just don’t see how they will be able to make the remaining dragons look anywhere as threatening (both in terms of lore as well as in-game) while still making them unique. I honestly think they will not be able to top this.
At 1080p and maxed out graphics settings on an Asus GTX 770, I’m getting fps around 20-40 most of the time. I know the GTX770 isn’t really considered a high end card but I thought it would be enough to max out GW2. This is my system’s configuration right now:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Processor: AMD FX-6300 6-Core Processor,3500Mhz, 3 cores, 6 logical processors
GPU: Asus Direct CU II OC GTX 770, 1111MHz, 2GB DDR5 VRAM
Now I am aware that this game isn’t optimized for AMD processors and am considering upgrading my CPU and motherboard(since I’ll have to) but I would like to know just how much of a performance gain I could expect if I replaced the 6300 with, say an i7 4770? Or is the GTX 770 not good enough to max out GW2 on 1080p regardless? If any of you out there run this game on a GTX 770 perhaps you could share your experience with me.
I just feel like they are giving us these repetitive achievements to occupy our time, instead of, something fun like more dynamic events. Think about how much more they could’ve done for Dry Top.
Why not a merchant escort? Why not rescuing someone stuck in a sandstorm? Bandits attacking the village?
Instead of doing the story all over again just for the achievements, and of course, just to keep us busy.
It’s almost like they’re using achievements now to give us something to do, instead of adding more content in what they release – which would give us something to do as well as enjoy.
It’s hard to explain, I just feel…well…bored :/ I think I’m part of the minority in that case since everyone else seems to love Dry Top and/or the state of the game in general.
They’ve been doing this ever since they started doing the Living Story. To me the Living Story has always been just another source of AP and unique rewards.
I personally think it looks really bad and needs to be changed. What do you guys think? I also miss the old Kessex Hills splash screen and dislike the current one.
As much as I disliked Trahaerne, Destiny’s Edge and the Pact were far more interesting than the current lot. Marjory and Kasmeer’s love story is way overplayed, just like it was towards the end of Season 1. I almost can’t stand them anymore.
I think one reason why they may have done this is that in Season 1, a lot of players did the Living story content just to get the achievements. The Living story was seen as just another way to get more achievement points and not as a continuation of the story. Perhaps by locking achievements during the first run, they are trying to encourage players to play through the content casually as an adventure without any pressure of completing achievements and to watch all cutscenes. I actually like this decision for this reason but I understand why many people dislike it.
Leveling in this game is very easy and fast. Don’t worry about which class is most useful in endgame and PvP, just play whatever class you like. Once you get your first character to 80, you can easily level your other characters to 80 by doing dungeon runs on your level 80 character and switching to a lower level character at the end of the run. I have a level 80 of every class.
Which is more important to you, the players? And why?
1) Living Story:
Consistent and Continuous Updates with Permanent and Temporary Map Additions2) New Features:
Guild Halls, Player Housing, Capes, New Legendaries, Crafting Precursors, New Weapon and Armor skins, New Weapon Types and Utility Skills3) New PvP Content:
New Maps for sPvP and WvW, GvG content4) Less Content Updates:
Focus on Profession Balance in PvP and PvE, and General Bug FixesYou can’t say all of the above ‘cause you’re flippin’ crazy :P
1) Less Content Updates – I long for the day when necros can finally become useful in dungeons and fractals but I’m afraid it will never happen.
2) New features – Guild halls, housing, marriage etc add more to immersion and roleplaying than the Living story ever would.
3) New PvP content – WvW at the moment doesn’t feel very interesting. It needs to be made more epic and motivate PvE players like me want to do it more.
4) Living Story – I never found the Living story or its characters to be interesting and I dislike the fact that they’ve replaced Destiny’s Edge. I would like to see more stuff relating to the human gods and the Mursaat. I still think Anet should do paid expansions because I’m afraid the Living story free content just isn’t on par with the vanilla stuff imo.
The problem is that guardians really can do everything. Warrior and ele numbers can always be tweaked to bring them in line with the others but guardians are inherently OP not due to numbers but because of the utility they bring. They have way too many heals, condi removals and useful abilities like Stability for the entire team and so on. Guardians and Necros need to be redesigned completely as professions.
If anything, they make the game more accessible for people who are not able to spend enough time to level up their characters through conventional means and those who enjoy doing PvP more than leveling. This means it is easier for everyone to have maxed out characters running the meta builds, which can be both good and bad depending on whether you like the concept of a PvE meta or not.
Is it easier to just farm enough gold and buy legendaries off the TP rather than go through the tedium of forging one? I already have 2 gifts of exploration btw.
Once you have a level 80 character, you can start doing dungeons and then switch to a lower level character towards the end of the run so that the lower level character gets the final reward for the dungeon run, which is 70% xp of your character’s level. This is by far the easiest way to level your characters. Just bring the lower level character to the map on which the dungeon is located prior to starting the run with your level 80. The only downside to this method is that it can get rather tedious and there are many people in the community who discourage it and dislike people who do it so it is best to do it with a guild party. Also if you’re going to use this method, please do NOT start the dungeon, ie. don’t be the player who starts the instance.
You also get Tomes of Knowledge as rewards for playing structured PvP. These items increase your character’s level by 1 instantly so if you enjoy doing PvP or get bored of doing PvE, this is a good way to level your characters.

I remember reading in the wiki a year or so ago that dueling would be added to the game at some point. Not sure if that meant open world duels or just custom arenas though.
1. Warriors and Guardians have ALWAYS been the best all-round classes since when the game came out, at least in PvE. Classes like the Necro on the other hand have ALWAYS been underpowered. I don’t think this issue will ever be addressed because it would require a major rework of some professions and/or game mechanics in order to resolve this and that is something I don’t think Anet are going to do after the game has been out for so long. We will just have to live with it. This is similar to how mesmers were in GW1 PvE for about 5 years after the game came out before Anet decided to rework the entire profession so they could do more damage in PvE. That does leave me with a tiny glimmer of hope that they might someday realize how useless Necros are in PvE and buff them.
2. It’s too late now. Anet seem to have made up their minds. I like getting free content every few weeks and some of it has been really good but I would still rather have major expansions every year with more polished content that I would have to pay for. Having said that, they have made some improvements over the last 6 months or so. There were a couple of huge patches that brought significant quality of life improvements to the game. However I feel these patches should have come sooner and a lot of people (including myself) have lost interest in the game.
3. Buying gold from third parties is illegal and is likely to get you banned. Besides, gold is very easy to make in this game so it is not worth the risk at all.
4. I agree. The lack of secondary professions and well defined roles for every profession has made some professions inherently overpowered and others almost completely useless, at least in PvE. For example, Guardians have and will always be extremely useful because they are a very versatile profession with lots of AoE damage and support skills for the team whereas Necromancers will always be underpowered in PvE because they have very few skills that can help their teammates and condition damage will always be inferior to direct damage in PvE.
5. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t crafting the only way to get access to Ascended gear, apart from farming world bosses over and over hoping you get lucky? I would rather farm the gold and craft my own ascended items than rely on chance anyday.
I agree with you overall. I don’t know how much money they make from the gemstore and I don’t mind the free content but I think they should still release a major expansion every year or so for a fee which would introduce a lot more new content and game mechanics and more importantly, content of higher quality.

There is open world PvP on the WvW maps. If you mean why there is no PK system that allows players to attack other players anywhere in Tyria the answer is that it would result in the harrassment of players who are not interested in fighting other players but simply want to PvE.
A new utility skill that allows you to wield a scythe for a certain duration would make necros more viable. The scythe could cleave and inflict bleeding and/or Chilled on all enemies hit.
Necro elites are not bad but apart from Flesh Golem, they have insanely long cooldowns.
I guess it would be hard to implement. Imagine if you were able to join the Separatists, Flame Legion, Inquest, Sons of Svanir, Nightmare Court at character selection. Your story mode would have to be completely different.
Although the charr have sharp claws and teeth, due to their size they lack the agility we normally associate with cats. Norn are bigger and stronger and so they’d probably in 1 on 1 fights.
However in an all out war the Charr would win as they have vast armies and lots of technology for war. Only the Asura would be able to beat them in a war.
Firstly Charr are as big than Norn (Norn have more strengh, but not more power),
Secondly Asuras wouldn’t be able to beat Charr in war, but they are able to withstand the Charrs’s assault if they are in Rata Sum.
Norn are bigger and more muscular (heavier) and Asura are the most technologically advanced of the playable races and even though their technology isn’t made for war, they have deadly superweapons that could easily destroy the Black Citadel. They also control the waypoints.
Although the charr have sharp claws and teeth, due to their size they lack the agility we normally associate with cats.
What? O.o
The charr are clumsy. They’re a pain to do jumping puzzles with because of their size. They’re not as agile as cats in the real world.
Spiteful Spirit already exists in the game.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spiteful_Spirit
I miss hexes though.
you can exit dungeons as an instance owner and it won’t destroy the instance. you just can’t switch characters.
So you mean I’ll have to run to run out of the dungeon instead of logging out and back in? Cool, never knew that.
The Megaserver idea is great but I wish NA and EU players would be allowed to play with each other, at least dungeons and fractals.
If retraiting inside dungeons must not be allowed then players who leave the instance should not be allowed to come back in either. Otherwise you could just leave the instance, retrait and come back in like we have been able to do thus far.
Personally I do think this feature would make the game too easy to a point where it could arguably be considered cheating. However, this feature has always existed. The only difference is that now the instance owner will be able to retrait as well without getting him/herself and their team kicked out of the instance.
Yes, increase the number of votes required to 4. This will still not solve the issue of 4 man guild teams kicking the random out at the end of a run to get someone else in but hey, you as a player should be smart enough to understand the risk that comes with joining such a team. 9 out of 10 times, as long as you’re friendly and interact with them throughout the run, you will not get kicked.
I miss Jeremy too and while all the new music that has been added to the game since he left isn’t bad by any means, it fails to create that magical feel that Soule’s music did for me. I’m sad to hear he has signed an exclusive deal with EQ.
The best way to make Necros viable in group PVE would be to add a utility or elite skill that replaces the necro’s current weapon with a scythe. This will give them access to cleave, like the heavy armor professions.
The Charr utility skill “Battle Roar” is just a weaker version of the warrior’s “For Great Justice” so it has good synergy with that skill. A charr warrior running both these skills would be able to increase their and their team’s dps significantly more compared to warriors of other races. Even if you are not a warrior you can still use the skill when the warrior in your team uses his shout so that way your team has both buffs on.
Apart from that one skill, I can’t think of any racial abilities that synergize particularly well with any particular profession. Norns have a couple of summoning spells as utility skills but since Necromancers and Engineers(the summoning professions) have summons of their own as utility skills, it is sadly not possible to have all summons out at the same time. You will have to replace one of your profession-specific summons with a racial one.

The Jungle wurm in Caledon is actually significantly harder than SB and Maw despite being a starter map boss.
Im pretty sure aether path isn’t required for Dungeon Master, you might be missing one of the normal explorable paths for TA
The Aetherpath replaced one of the original paths of TA. If you were lucky enough to have done that path before it was replaced (like me), you don’t have to do the Aetherpath for Dungeon Master. However if you haven’t, you will have to do the Aetherpath.
Guardian because unlike the warrior, they don’t rely on stats (damage and high health) to be useful. They have access to virtues, shouts, aoe’s, wall of reflection and in general a lot of skills to buff not just themselves but their whole team while being tanky and doing at least decent damage. Due to this guardians will always be strong whereas a little tweaking of stats could possibly make other classes useless. This is actually the reason why I’ve always felt the guardian is OP.
It would have been useful if it could actually revive a dead teammate (as its name implies) as opposed to 3 downed ones. Necromancers being the masters of death should have such a mechanic. Anyone can revive a downed person anyway.
Since Warriors and Guardians already have cleave on Greatsword, a Dervish profession would be redundant. Instead, they should just add a new necro skill that allows them to wield a scythe for a while. Aesthetically this would make sense since the grim reaper uses a scythe and more importantly, the scythe being an aoe weapon would also actually make necros viable in PvE since they would also have access to cleave now.
This whole concept of kicking the entire party out if the instance owner leaves is stupid and encourages griefing. So what’s the big deal if people want to do the EXP mode of a dungeon without doing its story? A significant portion of the player base doesn’t care about the game’s storyline anyway and they skip all the cutscenes of their personal story. Those who are interested in the lore would watch cutscenes and do the story modes before doing the exp mode in order to maintain immersion and continuity, no need to force feed it to anyone.
An alternative would be to allow only people who have completed the story mode of a dungeon into its exp mode. That is, even if the rest of the party is able to enter the exp mode, the person who ahs not done story mode should not be able to enter.
But I doubt if this has anything to do with story and exp mode because even in fractals and other instances, if the owner of the instance leaves the entire team gets kicked.
I spent the last hour looking for a fractal 50 group that didn’t post “Heavies Only” or needed 2 guardians.
Not that anet gives a kitten . This warrior/guardian supremacy has lasted for 1.5+ years and they haven’t done crap to fix it.
Part of the problem is that many players live in denial and pretend that the heavy armor professions aren’t overpowered (in PvE) as they have in this thread. Guardians are basically the monks of this game as far as elite level areas are concerned. The more guardians you have in a team at high level fractals the easier it becomes, the fewer you have, the harder it becomes.
I never said 5 warriors was the optimal setup everywhere. 4 warriors and an ele, mesmer or thief probably is, depending on what content you are doing. For harder areas the more guardians you have the easier the content becomes in general. But I’m skeptical about claims of 5 dps eles or thieves outdamaging 5 dps warriors in PvE whilst having as much survivability or utility. We are talking about pugs here, not premades..
That’s the thing. 4 Warrior with someone things else is a pretty lazy setup. You can’t say, oh i’m talking about pugs here not premade group. Because pugs or not, 4 Warrior + something else is still a lazy, easy, but suboptimal group. We are not saying that it not a good group. I play with my guild and sometime we end up with 4 warrior, just because we all decided to take our warrior on that run. Its an easy run, we do a lot of damage, but its not our best run.
But to think that Warrior are the best at DPS and Surviability is a pug mentality that is toxic to the community. Even if you don’t kick people, spreading some lie like that, push stupid people into think that ya that true, warrior are op and everything else is bad so i’ll kick them all.
How is it suboptimal? It requires the least effort for reward. It is the lazy way but so what? Pugs generally want to do stuff the easy and lazy way to ensure maximum chance of success. I’ve seen a video of 4 necros and a mesmer clearing cof p1 faster than 4 warriors and a mesmer but people still don’t like necros in teams because it is just harder to make it work.
I have a level 80 of every profession but I still love my necro the most because I enjoy playing it the most. However it is still the least useful class in PvE which is why I’m negative about it. It’s not just you OP.
During the personal story we learned that because Orr was already destroyed, Zhaitan met virtually no resistance while raising his Risen army and as a result had the largest army and posed the most immediate threat at the time.
Considering how the new dragon was able to terrify Scarlet and drive her insane despite being as powerful as she was, it seems this new dragon is pretty kitten.
Also, do you think Primordus probably is the strongest of all the dragons overall and will probably be the last dragon we face, since he was the dragon associated with Eye of the North and was the first to wake up?
The Kasmeer/Marjory angle was overdone. Two attractive women flirting with each other and falling in love has always been considered erotic and has become a cliche now in mainstream media so I would say that this story was a cheap way of getting perverts such as myself to play through the Living Story and I honestly think it worked because one of the reasons I bothered killing Scarlet was to see the kissing scene.
On a serious note, it could have been more subtle. They were flirting with each other in practically every cutscene, even I found it annoying at times. It felt so forced and took away from the seriousness of the story. Now if this was a love story between two guys that ended up the way it did with them smooching I would have appreciated Anet for pushing the barriers and breaking prejudices. But two hot chicks kissing and making love has been done already and society has always found it attractive.

The scientific community largely agrees that sexuality is not a choice and that there is a genetic basis for it. But even if it was a choice, why would it be immoral? Not everything natural is moral and not everything unnatural is immoral. If that was the case then kitten and murder should be considered moral whereas contraception, aeroplanes and pretty much all technology should be immoral. So stop using this pathetic line of reasoning. That is not how we decide whether something is moral or immoral. We use the golden rule of treating others how we would like them to treat us to decide whether something is moral or not. Two consenting adults have every right to be in a relationship and have sex with each other. Love transcends ethnicity, national boundaries and gender, among other things. There’s a reason why a lot of people are paranoid about gays turning them and their children gay and are opposed to gay marriage for this reason. If they were truly heterosexual they would have nothing to worry about because no matter how hard a person of the same gender tried to seduce them, they wouldn’t be attracted to them. However the fact that they fear being converted is proof that majority of humans are actually bisexual/pansexual. It’s the same reason why in countries like Saudi Arabia women are not allowed to show skin. The men over there are so insecure and lack the willpower to control their sexual urges and so it is the woman’s fault if they get turned on and kitten them. If those men were truly moral they would never cross the line and wouldn’t impose such ridiculous rules on women.

Make it so the entire team doesn’t get kicked if the instance owner leaves. There shouldn’t be an owner for dungeon instances to begin with. In Personal story instances it makes sense but not dungeons and fractals.
Also, make it so you need 4 votes to kick someone.
Blood Fiend is absolutely terrible. The passive heal is virtually non-existent and the active heal is not high enough to matter either. Well of Blood is highly situational, as are wells in general. Haven’t used Signet of Vampirism yet but it seems lackluster as well. Consume Conditions is the only decent heal necros have.
They should give the Necromancer the ability to actually raise a dead opponent to do their bidding, just like necromancers typically do in RPG lore. If any of you have played League of Legends, I’m talking about Mordekaiser’s ult. For each ghost you control your maximum health could be lowered by a certain percentage, which would limit the number of ghosts you can have at a time. Stronger ghosts would reduce your maximum health even more so that way you will have to play strategically and choose whether it has better to have 1 strong ghost (veteran/champion) or a bunch of weak ghosts up. This would make the MM a valuable addition to dungeon teams and this would be the one standout mechanic of the Necro, just like mesmers have portals and TW, eles have ice bow and FGS, thieves have group invis, guardians and mesmers have reflect. Ideally this is how the Necromancer class should have been designed because as of now they don’t really have a mechanic that stands out (any class can be built to spam conditions) but I understand this would be difficult to implement and balance.
In addition to this, they should also allow minions to regenerate health and scale based the Necromancer’s level and traits. The fact that they don’t is one of the reasons why in PvE the MM is considered strong at low levels but falls off at higher levels because minions don’t scale.

I think the reason why people were elated initially and started to be negative after a while is because initially they saw the positive aspects and over time they realized the negative aspects such as the town clothes being all or nothing.
You are right for the most part but tanky gear does allow you to stay alive for a little longer but that difference is almost negligible. You are better off stacking dps and dodging and stacking anyway.
