Don’t try to glide at home, though.

Wondering if anyone have had positive experiences with the less used legends in pve.
Asking, because playing Shiro/Glint with full ascended berserker in pve is starting to bore me out of my skull from using the same few old bland looking moves. For not to talk of the extremely passive boonfarting role of Glint.
I am in particular curious to if Condi mallyx is getting reasonably closer to Shiro after the recent nerfs to sword.
But a healer ventari also have potential to me imho for a more active playstyle.
Human standards……. Actually a very narrow standard of human thought which is political correctness. That seems to be the guiding light of the forum moderators. My comments which were censored by the moderator were not hateful. I understand the rules of the forum but refuse to be cowed by the pc police. If pc becomes what we think of as human standards, then we might as well be a colony of bees instead of humans.
One reason people see “homosexual propaganda” in this game is that if you offer differing views in the forum prohomosexual moderators will infract dissenting views for hate speech. I had a post in this very thread infracted earlier for hate speech(there was nothing hateful about it). I guess it is very easy to win a one sided argument when you stack the deck in your favor. Political correctness for the win!! I thought this was Tyria not Donna Shalala world.
Now that I agree with….. If players want homosexual charrs roleplay them yourselves. The game doesn’t need anymore token npcs.
What is ridiculous is trying to cover every sexual niche with token representation. Please don’t make this game a fan fiction abomination. There is enough of the sexual stuff already. I am trying to play a game not take a sensitivity training course.
Lots of mobs in the HoT zones have a blue bar under their name. This is called a Breakbar, or Defiance Bar. It makes the mob immune to Crowd Control effects.
The usefulness of breaking a breakbar should not be underestimated! For some mobs, breaking their bar can stun them or prevent a devastating attack.
There are two types of Breakbars to look for:
Type 1: It’s always Blue, unless broken (in which case, it will be a brownish color while it regenerates).
Type 2: It turns Blue during a particular phase and you have limited time to break it before it disappears. (This type is typically found on Legendary mobs and breaking the bar will stun the mob and/or prevent a devastating attack.)
Crowd Control (CC) comes in two classifications: Hard CC and Soft CC.
Hard CC includes: Pull, Knockback, Knockdown, Stun, Daze, and Fear
Soft CC includes: Cripple, Chill, Slow, Immobilize, Blind, Weakness, and Taunt
It’s simplest to think of a Breakbar like a Health bar. It has a set amount of Hitpoints and CC reduces those Hitpoints. Hard CC does instant damage to the “Health bar” and Soft CC does damage over time. The longer the duration, the higher the damage. However! Keep in mind that for some mobs, Soft CC only reduces the regeneration of a Breakbar, but does not do damage.
For mobs whose Breakbar is exposed for only seconds at a time, you NEED to have Hard CC on hand.
The following is a quick breakdown by class to show you some of your options (I want to make this comprehensive at some point, but I’m going to skim for now):
Guardian:
Greatsword, the second half of skill 5 is a Pull
Hammer skill 4 is a Knockback
Bane Signet active ability is a 3 second Knockdown
With the Dragonhunter trait Piercing Light, all traps do a 1 second Daze when triggered
Revenant:
Hammer skill 5 is a 2 second AoE Knockdown
Staff, the second half of skill 2 is a 1/2 second AoE Daze
Staff skill 5 is a charging AoE Knockback
Sword off-hand skill 5 is a Pull
Axe off-hand skill 5 is a pull
Shiro Stance Jade Winds is a 3 second Stun
Ventari Stance skill 5 is an AoE Knockback
Warrior:
Hammer burst skill is a 1-2 second Stun, depending on burst level
Hammer 4 skill is a Knockback
Hammer 5 skill is a 2 second Knockdown
Bull’s Charge is a 2 second Knockdown
Kick is a Knockback
Stomp is a Knockback
Engineer:
Rifle 4 skill is a Knockback
Bomb Kit’s Big Ol’ Bomb is a Knockback
Tool Kit skill 5 is a Pull
Flamethrower skill 3 is a Knockback
Hammer skill 5 is a pulsing AoE Stun (can be combo’d with skill 3 on a stationary target to get Dazing Strike, which hits for a few 1 second Dazes)
Ranger:
Greatsword skill 5 is a 1/2 second Daze (or Stun, if you hit from behind)
Longbow skill 4 is a Knockback (if you don’t know this already, you’re probably a Ranger)
Shortbow skill 5 is a 1 second Daze (or Stun, if you hit from behind)
Marksmanship trait Moment of Clarity doubles the duration of your Dazes/Stuns
Thief:
Staff auto is a 2 second Knockdown IF you are stealthed when you use it
Pistol skill 4 is a 1/4 second Daze (basically it’s an interrupt – not that great for breaking bars)
Daredevil, the second half of Fist Flurry is a 2 second Stun
Daredevil Impact Strike is a 2 second Daze, followed by a Knockback
Elementalist:
Staff Air skill 3 is a Knockback
Staff Air skill 5 is an AoE Stun (sort of – they have to enter or exit the field to trigger the effect)
Focus Air skill 5 is a 2 second Knockdown
Focus Water skill 4 is a Knockback
Tornado has a Knockback effect
Mesmer:
Shatter skill Diversion is a 1 second Daze
Greatsword skill 5 is a Knockback
Sword off-hand, the second part of skill 4 is a 1 second Daze
Focus skill 4 is an AoE Pull (if you don’t know this, you’re probably any other class)
Pistol skill 5 is a 2 second Daze/Stun with bounces
Mantra of Distraction is a 1 second AoE Daze
Signet of Domination active ability is a 3 second Stun
Signet of Humility active is a freakin Moa Bird transform (it reduces Defiance bar by some amount on mobs who have one)
Necromancer:
Death Shroud skill 3 is a Fear
Reaper’s Shroud skill 5 is a 1.5 second Stun (on a field duration, so more than 1.5 if the mob stays still… I think.. I’m not a doctor or a lawyer)
Reaper’s Shroud, the second part of skill 3 is an AoE Fear
Greatsword skill 5 is an AoE Pull
Necromancer is incredibly fun to play with a Greatsword. Just sayin’

Starting point would look something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQRAse8cnsIC9ph9fCmfCUrhFVjiMAGhirOZn2qFtLSjsD-TRRBABXt/o8DP9DA8EAoU9HzUCSKA9kaB-e
Domination can trade Blurred Signets and Mental Anguish for Furious Interruption and Power Block if you’re against mobs that are easily interrupted or have skills that you want to shut down.
For Reflect heavy fights where mimicking/rifting Feedback doesn’t cut it (like Uncategorised Fractal) you’ll want to bring something like: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQRAse8dnsIC9ph9fCuqBUrhFVj68JGijgMAGhirOZn2qF-TRRBABXt/o8DP9BA8EAoU9HzUCSKgR1ZB-e
Now with this build you’re looking to maximize your Critical Strikes. So if you’re lacking Precision you can swap Improved Alacrity for Danger Time, run with Accuracy Sigils, or you may need to have a set of Assassin’s gear on hand. Granted Revenants are bringing perma-Fury, and Rangers/Druids are being more common in groups. Thus, Precision is easier to get a hold of as well.
Sweet! Exactly what I was looking for.
So far my guild hasn’t had too many major issues with the materials to upgrade our guild hall. There is however one material that I see as more troublesome then any of the others: Ley-Line Infused Tools (used mostly for upgrading the mine).
These are crafted by a level 400 weaponsmith (recipe is automatically unlocked) with the following recipe:
- Charged Quartz Crystal
- Ley Line Spark
- Orichalcum Mining Pick
- 50 Bloodstone Dust
Charged Quartz information:
Charged Quartz Crystals can be produced by fusing 25 Quartz Crystals at a place of power (commune based hero challenge) once per day. They can also be acquired as a rare drop from quartz nodes (located in a home instance or dry top). They have been in the game for awhile though, so some players may have a lot of them.
Ley Line Spark information:
Ley Line Sparks are acquired by opening “Crystallized Supply Cache” in the new Tangled Depths map. Opening the Caches takes “Vials of Chak Acid” which is obtained through the Nuhoch merchant (requires Nuhoch mastery level 3). The HoT storyline also rewards 5 and 10 Ley Line Sparks after completing the 11th and 13th story arcs (respectively).
The major problem with making the Ley-Line Infused Tools is that all of the materials are account bound. Thus, players that wish to help make these for their guild need both time gated materials and relatively hard to acquire materials to produce them. This can lead to players with a large amount of charged quartz but not have access to ley line sparks, or players that have access to ley line sparks, but can only make one ley line infused tool per day due to time gates.
tl;dr “How to help your guild”:
- make charged quartz every day (process given above)
- play through the HoT storyline to get short term access to ley line sparks
- start working on Nuhoch mastery level 3 for long term access to ley line sparks
- use the recipe above to turn these materials into ley line infused tools
Hope this helps!
They key, I’ve found, is patience.
You couldn’t be more right, best of luck! you’ll get there!
I have seen them too, in frostgorge sound.
Wish I knew, and had noted the name of the player talking about it. I didn’t start to consider it seriously until many hours later.
I have yet to hear any kind of NPC conversation near it, though my engineer did discover that if she used Jump Shot to enter and landed perfectly, she’s be tossed up and down indefinitely instead of getting thrown right out.
So that’s progress of a sort. The thing now is to corner Josh, Peter, or Rubi to find out why they were teasing the Wizard’s Tower during the PoI. Bribery with cookies might be necessary before it’s all said and done.
I was shouting at the computer screen when they teased that. I’ve wanted to know about that for YEARS!
oh crap he brought the de-mat gun too!!
He’s already here:
You win. You win everything.
….Is anyone else belching every time they use the new shout?
Edit: After doing some testing with my friends and my other guardian characters, it seems like I’m only hearing a belch noise every time I use this shout on my Charr Guardian.
It sounds just like the sound from belcher’s bluff. o_O

Dear Guild Wars 2 Team,
I want to sincerely thank you for making one of the best mmos out there. The three year mark is fast approaching and I look forward to seeing what you guys have in store for us. About a year and a half ago I brought my mother to the light side stealing her from the World of Warcraft empire. We have played mmos together since I was living in Texas at the time and it was the best way for us to communicate. We love everything about the game, and have a lot of fun running the world boss train. This past Fall we found out that my mother has cervical caner. The game has now become a great way to release stress of the doctor visits and the fear of the cancer spreading to other place. It means a lot to me to see my mom laugh at your April Fools joke, she was laughing so hard that she was crying.
So thank you guys for making such an awesome and my mom and I both look forward to the expansion!
I agree that it looks like heather or gorse. Some type of hardy, probably evergreen, shrub.
But the actual shape is more likely explained by how it’s grown than the type of plant. If it was a real plant (and therefore grown and not drawn/modelled) my guess would be that the section on the left is the main body of the plant and most of it’s branches are raised up the stem either to keep them out of reach of grazing/browsing animals or because the lower branches have been eaten.
The bit on the right looks like a branch that was growing upwards then broke off, but not completely, so it’s still alive and now growing upwards again from it’s new position.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
It’s the jumping puzzle area of the Metrica Province, which has indeed always been there.
Ahhh yes, I remember most of those, excluding the Shadow Army one, and I most certainly remember Quintus Antonius
