Is there a way for someone who is not the custom arena owner to add time tokens to an expired arena?
F11 → Control Options → Targeting → Next Ally
Set a key binding for this; I use ‘L’. Then you can press this key to click through all of the friendly targets in range.
Can an indicator be added to each LFG listing to show if the map is full? It is a pain to join a LFG just to find out that the map is full.
You don’t need to do the story to get to the Heart of Thorns areas. There is a portal in the southwest corner of the Silverwastes that connects to Verdant Brink – just walk through like any other zone.
Set a key binding for “Target Next Ally”. Problem solved.
F11 → Control Options → Targeting → Next Ally
Set a key for this and then you can easily select the object you want to interact with no matter how much stuff is stacked in the same location.
Options (F11) -> Control Options -> Targeting -> Next Ally
Bind a key for this and then you can use it to get to whatever is under the NPC.
I opened the Mad King’s Chest after Mad King Says and it took my key without giving me anything. I noticed that it teleported me into the cauldron before the chest opening animation was done.
I don’t know what the reasoning was behind having guild hall maps open/close as the number of players in the guild hall changes, but it is a bad concept. When a guild is trying to meet in its hall for something, new arrivals are put in a different map and the people already there get the “map closing in 5 minutes” popup. It is incredibly annoying to have to keep switching maps to get everyone together, but there is more to it: Any banners or food that were placed in the original map are lost. Guilds have to treat their guild halls as transitory maps rather than as homes.
Options [F11] → Control Options → Targeting → Next Ally
Set a key for that. I use ‘L’.
Then you can press ‘L’ repeatedly until the item you want to interact with is selected.
If you type a character name into your contact list, you will then see the account name. There is no privacy in this game.
You can put the armor in the mystic forge to get something that can be used/sold.
Nobody uses the drops they get at level 80.
Yeah, my guess is that they are just looking for someone to design the world bosses of new zones.
If someone has their commander tag turned on but there is nobody in their squad, they should get the empty squad debuff: “The emperor has no clothes!”
The commander with an empty squad should lose all stats and benefits from their equipped armor and should have the appearance of their armor replaced with a potato sack that says “NOOB” across the front of it.
It is not so much hand holding as that there are 80 levels and they needed to add a sense of progression across all those levels instead of a burst to level 30 followed by a trickle of trait points for the last 50 levels. If you want to get everything by level 30, then there is no reason to have a level cap higher than level 30.
I call BS. You are couching this behind “I only want challenging content” when what you really want is challenging content that also provides the best rewards in the game.
Aetherpath is exactly the GW1 model. It is a challenging dungeon with rare location-specific rewards that are locked behind RNG. It is also a ghost town. “I get more loot farming somewhere else.”
You don’t want challenging content. You want challenging content with benefits.
October 2012: We have all these open world zones that the devs spent huge amount of effort making but that the overwhelming majority of people are avoiding.
Answer: Living Story. Put new temporary content (achievements) in the same old zones to try to make use of all the effort that went into making those zones.
September 2014: We have all these craftable items and heart/karma merchants that the devs spent huge amount of effort making but that the overwhelming majority of people are avoiding.
Answer: Collectibles Achievements. Now there is a reason for people to craft and buy all that junk that nobody wants and visit those lonely vendors. Yay! Now you will actually want to make that Front Line Stew recipe (once) or buy that useless +7 toughness accessory from the heart vendor.
Coming Soon: We have all these NPCs scattered throughout the world that the devs spent huge amount of effort making but that the overwhelming majority of people are avoiding.
Answer: NPC Dialog Achievements. Talk to every NPC in Tyria. Yes, I collect people.
Summary: The devs spent 90%+ of their pre-launch effort on stuff that they thought would be great but that turned out not to be what the vast majority of players wanted to do. They are putting new wrappers on old content and selling it with achievements.

They look like they are made out of dry ice to me.
Flippers target slow markets and improve their efficiency by increasing the volume of trades, thus helping a market reach equilibrium more quickly than if it relied exclusively on utilization trades.
And here is what is false in your argument. Flippers at most double the volume of sales that would have otherwise occurred. They are not creating a thriving market out of thin air. Flippers avoid truly slow markets like the plague.
Not just skill point scrolls, but skill points. You get a skill point every time you go up a level which is at least once an hour if you are actually playing.
But before you wouldn’t even have to grind skill points to unlock the trait. Now the whole game has gotten more grindy because you have to grind skill points to unlock stuff that used to be easily unlockable.
Huh? It is not possible to play the game without racking up tons of skill points.
The TP would operate efficiently without any flippers. That is the whole point of having a game-wide TP in the first place.
If that were true, then flippers couldn’t exist because the efficient market would have no room for flipping.
It is just as efficient with or without flippers. Adding flippers does not remove the inefficiency caused by players not using buy/sell orders because they don’t know any better. Flippers do increase efficiency and liquidity in games that do not have a TP, such as GW1, where people have to stand around and spam trade chat for hours in order to make trades. Flippers are truly creating a market in those cases by instantly offering to buy at wholesale and sell at retail for players that don’t want to make the effort and they deserve to be compensated for that service. This is not the case when a TP is available. The effort required to trade on the TP is essentially zero, so flippers offer nothing of value. Flippers are just middlemen in a trade that would have happened anyway without any extra effort.
most people are bothered by it because they see it as: if this person is making gold, that gold is coming from somewhere, and since I’m not making gold, it must be coming from me.
No, the reason flipping is disliked by people is that it is a form of PvP where the flippers are making their gold by ganking TP noobs. It has no effect on me since I always use my own buy/sell orders, but flippers are only able to make their gold because new/ignorant players don’t know how to use the TP properly. It has nothing to do with knowing the market, being compensated for the service of providing liquidity, or impatient buyers/sellers. The TP would operate efficiently without any flippers. That is the whole point of having a game-wide TP in the first place.
Doesn’t take long to get 3g and 20 SP
Nobody should have to farm 20 SP just to unlock a kitten trait. This new trait system is terrible.
Then it is a good thing that it is only 1.5g and 10SP. You get tons of Scrolls of Knowledge from champ bags, so who cares?
map will be dead come tuesday
Megaserver says, “You just need enough people for one map.”
Error code: 7:11:3:191:101
I like the new trait system. I like unlocking new Adept traits as I level up rather than having them all dumped on me upon reaching level 36.
Having something now is worth more than having the same thing some time in the future:
There is no figure assigning sales in Europe to the GW2 sales. We cannot say what causes the drastic decrease in Europe.
Was going to say the same thing. Sales for GW2 by region are not given. Sales for NCSOFTs combined products by region are.
The EU drop was most likely from the drop in Lineage sales.
Happy to see that sales for GW2 remained steady. There’s a slight increase from 3rd quarter last year from 24,481 million won to 25,142 million won or around $650k.
Q3 2013:
All NCSoft NA+Europe = 28.029 (16.660 + 11.369)
All GW2 = 24.481
Non-GW2 NA+Europe = 3.548
Q1 2014:
All NCSoft NA+Europe = 28.534 (23.383 + 5.151)
All GW2 = 25.142
Non-GW2 NA+Europe = 3.392
There was a big bump up in NA revenue and a big decline in Europe revenue for NCSoft from Q3 2013 to Q1 2014. GW2 revenue in Europe declined sharply (and went up in NA.)
Two things I took away from this earnings report:
1. Revenue has finally stabilized for GW2 after steady decline. (Couldn’t tell from Q4 2013 report due to Christmas influence.) Q3 2013 = 24.481, Q1 2014 = 25.142. This is great news!
2. Europe is disappearing as a GW2 revenue source. Q3 2013 = 11.369, Q1 2014 = 5.151. Bye bye European servers!
Maybe some pants like this:

You have to realize that the party kick system is the way that it is because it was the easiest way to implement it. It doesn’t require any “voting”. It is an initiate → confirm system, similar to when your computer pops up that box that says “Do you really want to delete that file?” The server doesn’t have to keep track of anything. It just responds to the kick initiation by telling the clients that a kick has been initiated and then responds to the first kick confirm with the kick. No timers needed. Don’t care if any people chose “no”. Don’t even need to remember that a kick was started. I bet you could hack the client to issue kick confirmations without receiving a kick initiation first and the server would do kicks with 1 vote.
The word gay in itself is not a swear word. And a lot of the times people are not trying to insult homosexual people, but rather use it in a “that sucks” kind of way. Remember that word meanings change often and fast, 50 years before “gay” used to mean “joyful”. As in “I’m having a very gay day”. Some of the remarks can be seen as insults, but not all that you point are actually wrong. To some of them, I think, that you’re reacting too sensitively.
I read everything that’s written. The talk about lesbians among sylvari is just how people joke.
“kitten that is gay” is how the word is most commonly used right now and like I’ve said most homosexuals do not see anything wrong with it, because it’s not directed at them or even used as an insult.
The person using the harsh word "starting with “fa” in the say chat can be reported.
The person on the map chat being racist can be reported.
Commander saying "stay on my kitten “no kitten ” is once again joking and you’re seriously overreacting.
Wow, so I guess you’re saying that sometimes heteros just gonna het.
-DOW/FOW/UW type zones.
I’m really looking forward to the DOW type zones. Sounds like the mobs will have great chemistry.
For example if I wanted to go to orr with my guild in the current system, there might have been 10 in the map on our server. Great there are ~140 spots left on the map for my guild! In the new system there may be 10 people from GoM, but it has added in 40 from Darkhaven, 30 from Devona’s Rest, 20 from Sorrow’s Furnace, and 30 from ET. Well great, now 10 people from my guild go in there, and the other 30 that want in are in another instance which may also have filled up before we do /join by it’s continuous adding.
See the problem?
It will only be a problem for maps that are rapidly filling up due to a scheduled event with massive popularity. You will have no trouble getting your whole guild into Orr for your naked runs.

Is this not true? Wouldn’t it apply to the megaserver?

This feels a bit like tearing down St Paul’s Cathedral and replacing it with a Christian Processing Mega-Facility.
Sure you get to process a lot more Christians, a lot more efficiently but you can’t quantify what you have lost. So it’s impossible to argue against, it happens, we all deal with it and two years later no-one can remember what it was like before.
Stupid progress.
It might feel like St Paul’s Cathedral on your server, but on the majority of them this is more akin to bulldozing a giant abandoned slum.
It’s more like they made a coffee house featuring great indie music and rotating exhibits of cutting edge art with the intent that people would have a good time hanging out and chilling together but instead all of the customers instead insist on doing speed-dating sessions in the bathrooms. In response they decide to keep the bathrooms locked all the time except for 5 minutes every 8 hours.
- Add a world boss UI that will take you to a specific world boss when it’s up, regardless of server.
I enjoy the almost random spawn timers. I’d much rather see a UI in game instead of going to a website to find a boss spawn or open dungeon.
I don’t think this is how ANet ever intended this to work. People seem to love the world boss train, but I don’t think that ANet wanted that to be how the game was played.
Wanting to do specific content and a living dynamic open world are contradictory concepts. A living dynamic open world moves on its own time with its own goals and purposes. Wanting to do specific content is the defining trait of instanced content.
The main problem is that people don’t want to play in a dynamic open world; they want to play the content they want to play when they want to play it. Watching an event timer website, porting in, doing the event and then porting out is pseudo-instanced content, not a dynamic open world.
The open world is for wandering around exploring and experiencing what is happening in the world at the time. All the stuff that people want to be able to do on demand needs to be moved out of the open world and into (public hot-joinable) instances.
The living dynamic open world concept is currently a complete sham with regards to world bosses and temples. Nobody is treating these as things that exist as part of the surrounding world where their events occur. Everyone uses the third party event timer websites and sometimes server guesting to just port in when the event is starting, do the event and then port out at the end. This is the very definition of instanced content. In fact some large communities take it one step further and either try to force an overflow or guest en masse to an empty server for the mega events so that they can have what is essentially a private instance for the event.
This is not what ANet had in mind for the open world. They can either kill the current behavior which is what they look to be doing with the new megaserver concept (and which is why most people hate it even with ANet offering up the bone of some regularly scheduled events) or they can preserve both their concept of the open world and the players’ desire for on-demand content by turning these world events into hot-joinable instances:
Where these instances are located in the open world, put a marker like the one used for the personal story that players can walk up to and then choose to create/hot-join the world event instance. The world event can still also occur organically in the open world as part of what is happening in the world without any timers or fixed schedules.
Reading through all of the complaints about the schedule, even though everyone states that what they hate about it is that the event time are “fixed” or “static”, what it really looks like is that people don’t think that the schedule has the events happening often enough.
I assume it will work both ways. When you use the heritage skin, it will appear in your wardrobe where you can use it again for xmute charges, but you will still be able to go back to HoM to get another copy to use for free. Of course everyone will use the free option, but the devs aren’t going to bother making the wardrobe work differently just for this.
Oh What about talk with WvW? If all Towns are together and You Opposing team is in your town with you (It could happen) it will make it much easier for them to spy….
This is much easier to do with guesting.
For dungeon goers, it is hard to get into COF & COE in the middle of the night. it is annoying enough that you have to guest to another open server, but now this function will soon be useless…
Make the gate stays open all the time regardless of gate event, please. i am tired of doing those events everyday.
With the megaserver, everyone will be using the same map to get into CoF or CoE. They will always be open or in the process of being opened.
