Why did I main a Ranger again? Guardians get a better version of them now. Seriously, a big game hunter class? Time to reroll.
From the Guild Wars wiki.
“The Druids were a group of Krytan humans[citation needed] that long ago moved to the Maguuma Jungle in order to live with nature. It is said that they are devout followers of Melandru, though this is only rumors. According to the History of Tyria, they were forced out of jungles in the long distant past by other humans. They were last seen by others sometime before 982 AE and mysteriously vanished decades before 1072 AE. Although generally believed to have been killed off by the jungle’s predatory plants and animals, the Druids actually shed their physical bodies to become one with nature. The Druids now exist as spirits, appearing similar to Oakhearts.”
It seems the Druids are more of a nature spirit based class if the lore holds. I wonder how that will affect the Ranger’s summon spirits skills.
From HoT yes, land spear isn’t a current weapon since no one can use it.
But they didn’t ruled out from future updates/expansions
So that is a definite no, we won’t be able to use spears on land, even though they are in the game. That is disappointing.
Since there are already nature based quests that allow you to shapeshift, I wouldn’t rule it out simply because it was done in other games. That seems like a silly reason, almost like an elitist attitude in an attempt to distance yourself above other games.
Devs already stated that no new weapons will be added in HoT, only current weapons will be unlocked among the classes.
I know that, what I am asking is if spears fall under current weapons to be unlocked among the classes. There are already spears in the game. Has that been definitely ruled out?
then is there a chance that spears will be able to be used on land? I know there will be no new weapons, but has there been any definitive word on if any classes will be able to use spears on land, just like Rangers will be able to use staffs?
I’m not asking for speculation, just wondering if there is a definite answer saying no, like we have a definite answer that there will be no new weapons.
Who gave themselves the right to make up the stupid name? They’re discovery progression games, or just adventure games, and neither Metroid nor Castlevania were even close to being the first. And even so, what made the genre popular was Zelda, largely because it was the first with a save feature, allowing for exploration without the danger of losing all progression, what previously hindered the exploration of such games behind a poor endurance mode mechanic.
Those games were so good that they defined the genre. Also, this is one of the silliest things to get upset over.
If the mastery system makes exploration like a Metroidvania game, I will preorder it.
that’s what they’ve been hinting at. they’ve explicitly referenced zelda and metroid, and “coming to a stop because of a challenge you can’t complete, and later on returning with the tool you need, like a key to a lock”.
That sounds awesome! MMOs always feel like they come short when it comes to exploration and this might help make it better.

And what was his profession before?
Warrior
New Zone
New Class
Class Specializations
Guild Halls
New PvP Mode
New Weapons
New Skills
Masteries
New Legendaries
Surely this topic is a bad joke?
That wasn’t directly stated to us.
For example, it looks like we’ll be able to use spears as a land weapon, which I’m pretty excited for.
As long as it’s anything besides DPS zerg race, I’m happy.
Esports is the answer.
I have the vague suspicion that gw2 is as relevant in the world of esports as Mexican cat juggling is in the world of sports.
True, but Anet still wants it to happen.
Esports is the answer.
Im so tired of Dark Gloom Death Doom Knight concepts cause people think that sort of thing is super awesome.
At least you didn’t suggest a scythe as a weapon. +100% damage vs Hay -100% against anything actually threatening. Fear me, I’m a farmer!
Scythe as a weapon would be cool. It was easily my favorite weapon in Dark Souls. No matter what they pick there’s gonna be haters, whiners and complainers.
Also, Dark Knight is a cool concept, there’s a reason it is so popular. If you don’t like it when people have different ideas and opinions than you, you are gonna have a hard life.
Sorry to break it to all of you, but it is not an expansion.
ArenaNet has been taken over by the Illuminati, and Heart of Thorns will be the final step in their master plan to convert all of us.
See the picture below for proof of my theory.
All those triangles surrounding the eye, and you had to pick the one that didn’t exist? Good find nonetheless!
If there’s gonna be a new class with the new expansion, it has long since been decided upon. Still, a Death/Dark knight is usually a popular choice, though I am hoping for a Skald type class.
Title implies and logo implies that we’ll be fighting the dragon, whatever was his name, and we’ll probably be in the area where he resides.
It’s not an expansion. It’s the Season 3.
Think about it, they can’t possibly add full scale (current gw2 map size) expansion just basing it on Maguuma. It’s got it’s own trademark, trailer and announcement at PAX.
It’s highly unlikely this is just another season. If it is I am going to eat my own head.
That seems a little extreme. I’ll probably just uninstall.
So unless I played through the content at a certain time, it is completely locked out and I can’t experience it? Reasons like this is why I prefer single player games…
And reactions like that is why they changed the mechanic for Season 2 to allow people like you to experience it. At least give them credit for learning.
Unfortunately they have isolated many people who missed season 1. I know some people don’t care, but a lot of us also do. It’s like showing season 1 of a TV show for a limited time!
Thats why I haven’t started it. I missed out and it feels lame to be starting something at the end of season 2 when you have no idea whats going on.
I’m sure many of us feel this way, and it is a hamper for getting people into the game, especially since the practically only new content we have been getting is the Living World.
Thing is, even if it turns out to be an expansion, after all this time… i know for a fact i’m not going to buy it and i’m quite sure there’s a more people with that sentiment. I simply don’t trust them to deliver anything worth my money anymore.
Smart choice is to let the other suckers gamble their money and see if it is worth paying for from them.

Ok, I have to admit I’m hyped. If ANET can add some of these: new skills, new WvW map, guild halls, raid, zones, dungeons, etc, then I’m really REALLY hyped.
Also a new class and a new PvP game mode. Conquest gets old fast. My vote goes for CTF.

This game desperately needs some actual new content besides this Living Story filler fluff.
shut up man don’t say such heretical things over here, you risk Arenadrone strike
I am confident that the official reveal of Heart of Thorns will be there to back me up!
I have all of season 2 saved in my journal so I can play through it at any time, but just as I don’t watch season 2 of a TV show before I see season 1, I have no desire to play season 2 of Living World before experiencing season 1. Is there any decent way of experiencing it so I can finally start S2?

This game is catered to the lowest common denominator. There are far more casual players than hardcore ones.
Anet’s decisions continue to baffle me. I haven’t played since I decided to quit awhile ago, but I sometimes check back to see if they are ever going to move in the right direction and nothing has changed. Instead of adding content, they remove it!
why they remove it ???
I don’t know but it is such a waste.
Has it occurred to all of you rude people that the reason people keep asking for mounts is that there are many people other than you playing this game who want mounts? It won’t break the game, it will make tedious travel shorter, and it will add more things to collect in this game and make it more immersive than waypoints.
Do try to read the arguments, there are valid arguments against mounts that are not wholly rooted in personal opinion, no matter how much people try to dismiss them as such.
Edited to be less confrontational.
There are also valid arguments for the other side that are not wholly rooted in personal opinion, no matter how much people try to dismiss them as such. That doesn’t mean we need to be rude and insult each other for having a different opinions and ideas.
Thanks for editing your post too, your previous statement was unnecessarily rude.

I doubt it. Anet doesn’t have a very good track record.
I don’t understand why they would ever think it was a good idea to remove content from the game.
Conquest gets really old really fast. I don’t know about anyone else, but I could play CTF in WoW for hours. I wish they added that here. Heck I wish they added anything else here.
Jaeger the Hunter
Crystal Desert
PvE, WvW, some PvP
This accusation gets tossed around a lot – that certain people who post such high praise for Anet’s decisions might be rewarded in some way. I haven’t reached a decision on this yet, so I thought the best approach is just to come right out and ask.
Will someone at ANet please tell the rest of us if you reward certain people for their forum comments? If you could just issue a flat out denial then that might diminish the number of accusations, especially right now.
We do not pay players to post on the forums nor do we make use of shill or sock puppet accounts. Honestly, I’m surprised if anybody takes these accusations seriously.
I bet you were paid to say that. #tinfoil
They’re focusing on attracting new players when they should have been focusing on keeping the thousands and thousands of people who already bought the game. That’s where the real profit is. Both through gems and happy players telling others to buy the game. Now we have vets telling new players to not buy it.
So many other games use this, and its proven to work.
Please Anet, let us help you fix this game!
One real expansion is all it would take to earn back the vets, which are the ones they need to keep. If you can’t keep players around, why do you expect trying to attract new players will solve anything?
Has he made a new character recently? What’s his opinion on the leveling changes? I read on another thread that Anet made a child cry because they could no longer use one of their skills. That alone is a bad sign.
Unfortunately for me, and I assume many other players, the leveling system is just too boring. Tutorials have no effect on that. I had to force my way to 80 and I just don’t see how I can do that a second time. Grinding repetitive tasks until a bar slowly fills up, following a wvw zerg for hours, spending your gold powerleveling crafting. I did all these things to get to 80 and it felt like it took forever.
Vayne will be here soon to help by explaining why his personal experience has shown him that these changes are well suited to new players and veteran players. Just wait.
Is there anybody else who honestly likes these changes? In every topic it is always Vayne irrationally defending the game. If you truly believe this game is flawless no matter what points people bring up, you can’t be reasoned with and thus your opinion hold no merit.
Vayne still white knight (thought you quit the forums months ago?).

Here’s an idea. Why don’t you just turn auto attack on? Then you only have to press it once and then just sit back and watch as your character swing his sword. And then swing his sword. And then swing his sword. And swing his sword again until the mob is dead.
Sometimes I think you pick the strangest things to complain about.
It is on.
It’s that the option of pressing “2” is locked until a higher level, and I literally have nothing else to do except push a button unnecessarily.
Perhaps I should have ended with /sarcasm. Sarcasm is so difficult to convey with the written word.
“In most games, you go out, and you have really fun tasks, occasionally, that you get to do, and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff. ‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun.” ~ A Sword Swinging Backpeddler
And people wonder why Anet won’t talk to them. A quote from a four year old video is still being quoted today and used as a weapon of sorts.
Anet should just shut up and stop saying anything. It might come back to haunt them.
Anet should just shut down these forums all together.
Anything and everything they say or do is met by angry, foaming at the mouth, insults and verbal throat jabs from the same people over and over again, who think they know better then everyone else…
I’m being serious here. How often does Anet actually listen to fan feedback and put what players want into the game? People don’t like being ignored after spending their money.

I agree. Anet has been giving the community too many responses to our feedback. They need to focus on making more changes to the game. Simplifying the game was a smart choice.

Just shut up and follow the arrow. Everything is fine.
Forgive me. Nobody should question the design choices of the supreme leader. I shall never doubt the wisdom of the great arrow again.
At least it isn’t medium armor.
Trench coats. Nothing but trench coats.
