To top this off, 1) youre forced to spam chat with lfg and 2) even if you do it with moderation you get supressed for spamming sometimes and just CAN’T lfg any longer.
I can only repeat myself, as I’ve done in the last 3 MMORPGs I’ve player which lacked a dungeon finder. Ironically now they all got one because of popular demand.
Doesn’t have to be a code masterwork. Just a simle list where you can sign up for a certain dungeon/path, and where people see who’s looking for what.
So people can actually play the game instead of sitting still in a zone and writing LFG for hours..
I would like to see Anet let us put conditions on objects. It’s pretty unbalanced if you’re mainly condition DPS (as many are mainly power based), yet you suck at killing the objects in the dungeons. Add to the list of OP the prison crystals of subject alpha in CoE, the plant turrets in TA and just generally any object that has to be damaged.
It’s just unbalanced like it is now, when power builds can fully damage objects, and condition builds are worthless.
I do all the paths equally, since I want my gear as fast as possible. Most people aren’t used to underwater combat, but I wouldn’t say that every class sucks.
Warriors do fine damage for instance. My Mesmer damage sucks, but you do the damage through your phantoms, especially underwater. The ranged autoattack puts boons on allies, which is its main thing. Underwater melee with the Mesmer (spear) is kind of pointless
) So maybe its a matter of reading your underwater skills properly and using them to their advantage (not always damage).
Health is too much on many bosses. If fights become boring that’s a good sign of it.
Also I don’t like the ability of the boss of path 2. It’s not clear enough when he starts his “spear charge”. Would be nice if there was a small animation, other than putting the spear in front of him and starting to damage. That’s hard to see in between all the spell effects and gets people alot, especially the melee ones.
My thoughts are go DPS until this is changed. Which might be never. At least mix and match support with DPS so you can do both.
i’m currently farming coe with pug groups, and imho path 1 (submarine) is the easiest.
hacking is really not an issue. kill the silver mobs, dodge the bombs, hack next stage..
2 is the medium path and path 3 (front door) is the hardest imho. esp the last fight where you have little room to dodge the constant deadly aoes from subject alpha.
game’s been fine with almost no crashes so far. today suddenly crashing almost everytime i zone. often twice. once when i try to zone. and another time when i try to load the new zone being already in it. the third time usually works.
looking for someone who has an idea what can help. i didn’t change any drivers or such over night, simply nothing.
even turned antivirus off, veryfied the game 3x in the launcher. deleted the gw2 “corrupted” files under documents. running out of ideas here.
If you’re gonna run dungeons with pugs naked you’re screwing chances of success up significantly, especially if you’re the one knowing the tactics and possibly having the best control of your character.
On top of that you’re being an kitten because YOU don’t pay for repairs, but everyone else does. And regularly they will die because YOU can’t pull your weight with your kitteny naked-stats.
Everyone does a dungeon for the first time. You learn them and when you’re confident you know the tactics, you can start leading groups through them, and teach those players the tactics. This is the way it works. Nothing about running naked is a part of that for normal people. Only for jerks.
Here’s an advice for the next time: If you realize you’re grouped with a jerk, vote kick him right away or leave the group yourself. Saves you alot of time and trouble.
Now before the big debate yes or no begins: I’m asking for a simple who list, where people can flag themselves as “lfg for Twilight Arbor explorable” for instance, not some fully automated LFG tool.
The main reason is that when looking for groups for dungeons I have to either sit in Lions Arch or in the zone with the dungeon and spam the chat. I already got reported for spamming, even if I always let a few minutes pass before I repeat it. So basically each time I had to rephrase it to actually get a group together.
Then theres the problem of wanting to run dungeons durong low pop hours. Surely there must be 4 other people online wanting to run TA exp for instance. But I can’t reach them. They, like me, have limited patience, and sitting around in LA in the morning is extremely boring and often not fruitful.
Bottom line, some LFG tab where we can chose what we’re looking for (which dungeon, story or exp, and maybe which paths) would go a long way and let people actually play the game while waiting for group members.
Sitting around in a hub spamming the chat is something that should be dead and buried for years by now. It produces only negative experiences for everyone.
run a few explorable dungeons.. they will give you about 26 silver and 60 tokens on completion, along with several items to disassemble. with the tokens you get exotic gear and weapons, and with the money you pay for wvw.
some explorables are really fast and easy, but ofc you need to check in LA which armor/weapons you actually want, and which dungeon you have to do for it.
don’t buy gold.
i guess what the real question should be is should i even be trying to wvw before i hit 80
you can wvw fine, as long as you don’t try to 1 vs 1 with lvl 80 or similar players. buy cheap gear from the tp, all with power or precision, and then always run with a few people and try to stay as far back as possible using maximum range weapons.
you’ll get a few kills if you put everything in power for instance, but you’ll die fast if caught.
remove the repair cost, and remove the loot as well as far as i’m concerned. just keep the tokens.
repair cost is much worse for an outmatched server, and encourages people to actually quit after getting zerged a few times. the opposite should be the case: despite losing hard, people should be encouraged to STILL try.
30% magic find just isn’t good enough for the casual player (the majority). only organised groups can actually get a good amount of kills from fighting an enemy which outnumbers them. everyone else has to log off and farm gold.
bad design imho.
send a pet that knocks then down or slows them, use ranged attacks which slow or root them, use a the horn as your second weapon, along with whatever you like as primary. you get a speed buff from one of the horn skills.
pick up a skill that lets you get out of stun/slow etc. and you should be pretty much unstoppable.
i can’t give you skill names, because im really not playing my ranger much, but that’s pretty much the way it works for everyone. cc the enemy, use swiftness on yourself, and get out of cc.
Outmanned by Blacktide everywhere but EB this morning. I wouldn’t exactly call this “day-capping” if you wake up to this.
I think killshot is fine. Long setup, consumes all adrenaline for maximum damage. It’s sort of a “finisher”. Also very distinctive animation: warrior kneeling down and aiming → it’s dodge time.
Backstab is harder to avoid and hits for a similar amount. You can try to premeditate WHEN the thief will use it, but you won’t see a 2s animation to dodge. You can also dodge the warrior volley easily.
So, you dodge those two skills if he has a rifle, and then you destroy him. If he snipes you out of a zerg, well tough luck. Anyone can die in seconds if in 1200 range from a zerg, from pretty much any combo of classes.
There’s quite a few more abilities which do similar damage, and some of them are AoE.
If this bothers you, you definitely need to wear some toughness gear/toughness spec and make sure you’re lvl 80.
If you’re low level you’ll get hit alot harder by those exotic gear wearing lvl 80 glass cannons.
they are probably going to have to merge servers if the population decreases, or you can switch to a more populated wvw realm.
it wont suffer wh’s fate simply because there’s no subscription, and because its done alot better than wh.
big part of this unbalance are the free server transfers. they need to be restricted to ONCE per match, not once per day.
Thieves are actually pretty easy to kill. You just have to:
-know how their class works as good as your own class
-happen to have the right skills equipped
-need to telephatically read their attacks and dodge/evade/invulnerability yourself on their hard hits (else you get hit for 25k – biggest backstab ive seen)
-are required to switch to melee weapons (thanks to whoever wrote that precious tip above)
trust me, thief is fine. with their 5k aoe they can contribute nothing to wvw, so they need to be able to destroy 90% they encounter with ease, along with finishing them off while stealthed and 5 people watch. but hey, its their own fault if they don’t have 100 cc and aoe abilities equipped, which they can stack over the “shadow house” thingy before he finishes your friend and then proceeds to escape to safety.
no, you dont have to take this post seriously.
see, its easy!
You can’t just compare base healths to each other. And you can’t either add some random stuff you like and base your logic upon that. It’s abit more complex.
Elementalists can be quite unkillable, despite the low health. Just know what you’re doing and rotate the elements right, and you’ll have benefits from all of them (including the defensive and healing ones).
Back to the health issue: Guardians have alot less health than warriors too, and yet its alot more difficult to take them down than a defensive warrior. A warrior’s health is not easily restored by himself.
To the guy saying his 100b hits for 21k and his elementalist’s attacks are lucky to crit for 3k: Either you’re lying or you have no idea. I’ve been hit by ALOT more than 3k by elementalists and everyone with a little bit of PvP experience knows this. The 21k seem to be quite an exageration as well. Maybe on someone who takes 50% more damage..
What other phantasm ignores LOS?
I know for a fact that the Warden can be summoned through walls. Further phantasms which spawn at their target would be Disenchanter, Defender and Swordsman. Maybe even the Rogue when you’re downed. But it has to be checked if they really summon without LoS.
the gates/doors of towers/keeps/castles are a different issue. any type of aoe passing through it, as well as catapults knocking people on the other side away is a problem, but has nothing to do with a single skill.
phantasmal berserker is fine as is. slow attack rate, dies fast, very dodgeable if prepared. alot more dodgeable than other attacks which do more damage.
its damage is pretty much in line with other decent aoe’s. its worse than the best ones.
the phantasms which bypass LOS are those which are spawned AT the target, ie the melee ones. you know, those which are often pretty much instakilled, sometimes even before they attack once.
sure, a berserker from a glass cannon mesmer hurts. but so does pretty much anything from a glass cannon, regardless of class. remember they take alot of damage as well.
I think the invulnerability buff is awesome because its something in favor of the underdog. The line is drawn at the guards, and there really doesn’t need to be further humiliation of getting killed standing near guards by the already dominating team.
I personally have killed MANY people while invulnerable, and I’ve laughed at each of them (for real, not as game emote). They’ve even set up siege engines to shoot people up at the spawn. I suppose it’s ok to die to those, while the guards are out of range as well?
When I’m on the dominating team I break off long before I reach the underdog’s base, and so should anyone with a bit of decency.
If you feel you have to chase your enemies to the portal, you’re up for a surprise. Free kills for the defenders, yay!!
Server: Desolation
Zone: Timberline Falls (50-60)
Event name: Protect Krewe leader Dobbs as…
The event is frozen with 1/2 of his helpers marked as downed, when in fact all of the NPCs are up. Obviously it’s impossible to revive a Krewe member that isn’t downed, so the event frozen until server restart.

i basically agree with you, but this might be the wrong forum
should be “pistol skills”, not “pitol skills”. check the image for exactly where this typo appears.
he had frenzy on him for sure but it would still be a 16k crit without it… this does not happen very often though.
anyway, the denying here is epic. my thief hits up to 13k backstab on normal glass cannons and 8k on targets with 2k toughness. I can kill tank guardians in a second, they are dead before they can react. of course this is connected to alot of high cooldowns but it does not matter, in a tourney removing 1 player instantly from battle is huge advantage. my thief is not useless afterwards, he just does not instagib anyone anymore when the abilities are on cooldown.
you cant argue against this hard fact, trying is simple pointless and makes you look pathetic and bad.
Makes you really feel like an idiot to go into toughness, to die in 2-3 seconds to a single player. The further problem with this extreme burst is that the thief is invisible most of the time during these very short fights. 16k backstab (if we substract +50% damage from warrior’s frenzy) is clearly too much.
Oh its a thief.
Oh he’s invisible now.
Oh I’m dead.

Guys remember to make screenshots or videos if you have a recording program running. And most important, select the player and report for hacking.
I really hope Anet deletes hacker accounts and bans their IP.
If you’re really close to the range limit it will sometimes not work. Try to be a bit closer.
I use healing surge over mending because my warhorn already removes conditions (traited), and that from the whole group. So mending its not something which you should ALWAYS take, as some people suggested.
If you’re in a PvE group with me you don’t need it either, as I’ll be removing your conditions as well.
I don’t remember ONE situation in a dungeon where I would’ve preferred mending, since I took up the warhorn, and that includes fights with condition-heavy bosses.
On the other hand, situations where I was thankful for every little slice of health given by surge are numerous.
Longbow burn effects are also conditions.
God beware warriors running utility skills. All MUST DPS. Thanks OP, for your intelligent opinion.
On a less sarcastic note: don’t listen to OP, do what works the best for you. He has obviously no idea.
Then someone smashes their shield into your face as you start whirling and its all wasted.
Bugged on Desolation Server.. for about two weeks or more. Only thing I need for 100% explorer but its pretty much unachievable like this.
Zone: Malchor’s Leap
Location: near Bayt Fallahin
http://i.imgur.com/jvzhc.jpg
This is the only thing that I’m missing for the 100% explorer achievement. I check it multiple times a day for almost two weeks now, and there’s never ANYTHING in the location. What you’ll always find is people waiting at the location for some miracle to happen..
Server: Desolation
Metaevent: Battle for Beetletun
Dynamic Event: Retake the Farm and brink sprinkler pieces to Clarence
The event is stuck at this point for days. Bringing pieces does nothing.

It’s probably random which color you get assigned to. Better luck next time!
Just for as long as its channeled.
It’s got a long CD for a weapon skill. You NEED to be on top of your targets to actually hit them. It’s not like popping some random AoE from safety, in a PvP scenario.
To get knocked back makes the ability kind of pointless in PvP. Makes me wish I had a longbow equipped instead to finish all those half dead people, instead of risking to run into them and then get knocked away/abiltiy cancelled.
This is indeed extremely lame. When you can’t win, cheat. GG.
Something needs to happen with it. I’m pretty sure this is an important part of balancing WvW better. Maybe it could increase the survivability of the outnumbered team by similar/equal stats as three orbs offer. “Grand Wizard XYZ channels his protective spells upon Z’s army”.
Also there should be very high magic find and gold/karma/exp gains for the team which is badly outnumbered to balance the killing-dying ratio against overwhelming odds. Otherwise people just quit and I think we all can agree that if only one team is in WvW its fun for nobody.
The amount of server pride being demonstrated in these threads is admirable, what is less admirable is the whining about “unfair” strategies being used by the server that happens to be top. The rules and regulations on how points are scored and the times of play were known to everyone before the game launched.
Everything VS has done has been within the rules of the game, and they have executed their strategy very effectively. Other servers may be shell-shocked by this, but VS are not doing anything any other server could not do, it is therefore up to those servers to get their act together to do better than VS currently do it. Clearly many leaders on VS have studied Sun Tzu’s Art of War, and therefore fight the battles they know they can win and avoid the battles they know they will lose.
I am embarrassed by players representing FS in these threads: did Zulu warriors armed with pointy sticks and cowhide shields go crying on forums about how unfair it was for the redcoats to have rifles when they only had pointy sticks? No, they fought and died like the brave men they were, but you know what?; they actually beat the men with rifles a few times.
So my plea to players wanting to represent FS on forums, is to give VS credit for what they have achieved, and then knuckle down to find ways to beat them.
ZULU!!!!!!!
Great my text got deleted, but I’m too lazy to retype it. :p
Kill shot is a finisher which requires full adrenaline to deal full damage. The warrior kneels down and shoots after about 2 seconds. I get dodged OFTEN by decent players while doing that. Or out of range, obstructed because it takes so long to fire off.
Of course its hard to tell if a warrior uses kill shot from out of the zerg, but then you might’ve been killed by anything else as well.
If you’re alone against him then keep your dodges for that finisher. That and the other high damage, channeled rifle attack can be dodged so easily that they make a warrior look like an idiot against decent players. I personally think rifles are pretty useless in 1 vs 1.
Come on. It’s not impossible to balance different maps. You could make them just very slightly different from each other. Waypoints a few meters away, different climate. More or less same layout.
Sure it won’t be 100% the same, but if done well only people who whine about everything or can’t deal with losing will blame it for their loss.
At least it would keep the game fresh longer to have different sceneries.
Doesn’t crash at all for me. Maybe some outdated driver?
6 hours queues and stuff.. that must suck. On Desolation there’s always a Borderland with instant joinage. Which translates to both Far Shiverpeaks and Vizunah Square having simply more players 24/7.
Wether Canadians play at night for FS or wether you guys are simply more all around than us, its both unfair. But what can we do to spark interest in more people and make them good players as fast as possible? Little.
You can always come to Desolation if you like a challenge. Otherwise look for the Norn shooting the fire arrows and remember to stand close together when they rain down on you.
Who cares who’s first, second, third and what not. What counts are good fights.
Guess which of these EU servers has the Canadians:
Server: Desolation
Zone: Cursed Shore
Meta: Gates of Arah
Event: Escort Sharn the Vindictive
Sharn just stays there and does nothing.
(edited by The Dude.6942)
Zone: Cursed Shore
Metaevent: Temple of Melandru
Dynamic Event: Escort Magister Izzmen to..
Obviously escort quest. It’s stuck.
Server: Desolation.
i dont know what level you’re at, but you can try getting your hands on some armor with toughness. i usually run with knight’s armor (str/prec/tough), and I have no problems at all with melee (outside of dungeons).
use signet of the dolyak it will give you passive damage reduction and get you out of stun if you use it.
i can handle several mobs of my level with ease (lvl 75-80 area now), it definitely shouldnt be a problem before that.
maybe you’re underleveled for the zone? then do something else and come back when you’re above it.
for dungeons you’ll want to run ranged exclusively or utility builds.
for wvw i can recommend longbow/rifle. its not good 1 vs 1, but they’re pretty good at taking people out at range, while staying relatively safe.
and for huge events you should definitely use some ranged weapon along with your melee. take a few hits and then dodge away to let someone else take damage.
if many players were nearby, it could be that the mobs got boosted. would be sufficent if the players were in the general area, not exactly beside the mobs..
First of all, sorry about my poor english.. ill try.
We win some matches and we lose others… its ok, im not here to cry about anything. I only want to ask if this is working as intended. or if our perception on it is wrong.
Its happening in some matches; yesterday we decided to take numbers. We asked for everyone in a zone (from our team) to say “im here”; got around 30 responses.
Of course, we looked for our people in each tower or keep on our side. We only had 2 towers and one keep anyway.
We searched for people in the wild, puzzles etc ; we looked for everyone from our team.We were around 40 guys; finally all the people went to the same tower, and we sent some guys to see if in the rest of the fortifications had more of our people -but there was no one-.
So we were around 40 guys, but we still had a 1 hour cap.
Then, the enemy;
One of the enemy teams was attacking 3 things at the same time.
They were attacking a fortress (from the 3rd team) with around 40-50 guys
They were attacking our tower with a incredible zerg with so many people that i dont know how much they were; for sure much more than the first zerg.
They were attacking other tower from the 3rd team (around 20 guys).More on that, they had a group of people defending 2 suply camps, around 10 guys in total. And random people around all the map (they were taking the Npc camps too, but we could not go to investigate).
My question is.. is this normal? is it working as intended?
I was thinking that if there are 500 players per map (for example), 1/3 of that should be always reserved for each team.
How is it possible that we had a cap with 40 guys inside, and they were like 150 playing?Or is it 500 players for all the team? and one team can get the places of the others?
If its working that way, its ok, but i want to know about it. Today we are having the same issue.Thank you.
No the cap can’t be a total cap and must be per each individual zone. I says this because often some zones are capped (eternal battlegrounds), while others have no queue at all on my server.
It must be a zone wide cap, not WvW wide.
