Can sombody tell, if the cogwheels are still buggy?
Yes it’s buggy since Wintersday. You have to swap weapons mid air, to slow down. Or just try it this evening, when wintersday is over.
Greetings!
I know i’m not the only one who saved up for the Rainment of the Lich outfit.
My expectation was that it will hit the Gem-Shop at Halloween, so i was quite dissapointed when it doesn’t show up.
But now it’s back! YAY
However my anticipation was crushed once again, since you can ONLY obtain the outfit if you buy the whole bundle for 2250 Gems.
Please – can you offer the bundle in a standalone version? You can’t imagine the feeling if you saved up month after month and when your desired outfit finally hits the Gem Store once again.. you have to pay 1.500 Gems more than expected! I just can’t afford it at this price, and it will break my hearth if it leaves once again for another year…
I hope you can understand…
Active Set 52 contains Golden Lost Badge or Go for the Gold.
I’d really like to make an updated video to these, since you can glide now (and i want to make sure it’s shorter than the existing 45min video. The huge problem is: i collected all the coins already, so there is no way i can actually show them in the video (wich is of course really bad).
So i’d like to raise the question (to the ANet Team) if there is a way to reset my coins for this project (free accounts are suboptimal because of the lack of gliding).
I think every reasonable addition has already been mentioned…
Is there some kind of “most-called-item-gets-the-spot”?
If not i would spare you the redundancy.
Don’t know if it’s helpful – just want to leave a comment to visibly increase the amount of players, who approve this thread by 1.
i’d really appreciate an official statement to this topic…
is it like:
We don’t want/ don’t have the time to fix it
or more like
We consider fixing it, but it takes it time (in this case, we can give some ideas on how to fix it… even with regards to efficiency/Object-oriented programming style)
or even
We will fix it eventually… or not. We don’t want you to know, so people can’t make predictions on the economy… it’s a surprise!
… we just want to help, if you are somehow stuck with this…

What about a Mute Option for commanders? Wouldn’t that solve the problem in a more subtile way?
There will be a point, where ‘at least 1 piece leg armor’ LFGs becomes a thing ☢
Masteries
There are 6 HoT mastery-lines you can unlock if you do the following:
- Gliding: Completing Torn from the Sky (first HoT Story)
- Itzel Lore: Completing Torn from the Sky
- Exalted Lore: Entering Auric Basin
- Nuhoch Lore: Entering Tangled Depths
- Forsaken Thicket: Killing a boss in the Forsaken Thicket raid
- Ancient Magics: Entering Bloodstone Fen
and 3 Central Tyria mastery-lines:
- Pact Commander: Completing Torn from the Sky
- Legendary Crafting: Completing Torn from the Sky
- Fractal Attunement: Completing Torn from the Sky
Once unlocked you can chose an activ line and can switch at any moment.
Evey line consists of different helpful skills you have to unlock step-by-step.
To unlock a mastery you have to:
- chose it as your desired mastery to level
- fill the EXP bar – only then you can ‘buy’ it
- spend the required mastery-points to unlock it
Each masterypoint you spend will increase your masterylevel by 1.
So let’s say if you are masterylevel 113 and spend 8 masterypoints to unlock ‘Advanced Gliding’ (5th mastery – Gliding masteryline), you will be level 121.
The masterylevel is mostly an cosmetic display of your experience, though.
Elite Specialization
The other big thing are elite specs. Once you hit level 80, you can spend hero points to unlock a completely new traitline for your class. This will also unlock a new weapon for your char (Necros can wield greatswords for example).
To do this you ‘only’ have to spend the required amount of hero points. To get these you have to complete hero challenges or play WvW. The rule is: HoT challenges award 10 Hero points, where Tyria challenges only reward 1 (they are easier, though).
So the things you can do:
- Do events for Exp (to level masteries)
- Complete the map for:
* Hero Points (to unlock elite spec)
* Mastery Points (to spend for your masteries)
* Map Completion (if you want to build a HoT legendary) - Achievements (many give mastery points)
- Play the story (to unlock specific map-parts you can’t reach otherwise and ofc mastery points)
- Gear up and prepare yourself for fractals/raids
Edit: I also wanna hint to the elite spec weapon-collections, wich reward you with an ascended version of your elite spec weapon (you have to unlock them first, though).

Raids and dungeons are my favorite things in mmo’s. I just don’t want to be shoehorned into melee.
Well, Dungeons are a little different here than in other MMOs. Not in concerns about content – more about the attitude. In a tl;dr version: people don’t run dungeons since they aren’t lucrative enough. In times hen dungeons were in fact lucrative, groups tend to speedrun them (wich means skipping mobs and melee stacking). So your experience with dungeons may not meet your expectations.
For Raids: It’s hard – obiously. So groups search for experienced players, rather than newcommers. Best way go get into raids: join a guild and go with them.
Your prefered PvE Group-Content might be fractals. It’s very Dungeon-like but way more profitable. I recommend to look into those.
Go and get mastery-levels! To do so: activate the HoT Story in the story menu and play the first mission. Once you’ve done that i’m sure you’ll find yourself something to do (guess you want to unlock your elite-specialization and mastery lines… so go and explore some HoT maps)
I know that feeling. In my case it was because i wasn’t sure if i do things ‘right’ – you know? I recommend mesmer greatsword + sword/focus. Go for the usual berserker stats if you have the chance to chose (Power/Precision/Ferocity). Start encounters with greatsword skill 4 (phantasms are usually your best skills) and continue with skill 3. Then skill 2 so get another illusion and shatter with F1… if the foe isn’t dead by now – switch to melee and kill it (This is MY usual ‘butst-rota’ wich i used for leveling). For bigger enemys you have to sitch some things, but you’ll get used to it.
Ah and some reasons why mesmer is a great class:
- huge variety of skills/playstyles in endgame
- it’s not the easiest class i admit, but who wants to play boring classes anyway
- you can place portals to teleport friends to other locations and help them with jumping puzzles
- you can use illusions in combat for distracting enemys (not as good as a hunter pet, but hey – you are not alone)
- if you can master this class in the endgame, you’ll almost certainly find a spot in raidgroups
Last thing: For raids etc. you have to get used to melee fighting… but i’m sure you’ll can pull that off once you get used to it.
It’s all about perspective.
The Fact: People want to be efficient -> clear the Raid as fast as possible
From the view of an experienced player (groups):
- searching for exp players
- don’t want to carry ‘new’ players with no exp
- don’t want to explain well-known bosses mechanics
- they know how smooth a full-run can be with a good group
—> kick every player who slows the run
From the view of a dedicated, yet unexperienced player:
- want to get a foot into raiding
- difficulties in finding groups (no exp) -> get exp as quick as possible
- join taining runs -> low success (since there are many unexp. people)
--> join exp runs and lie, and hope to get some tries and learn with exp players
Both sides are equally understandable.
The huge problem here is: The game encourages players to be dishonest, since this is the fastest way go get ‘exp’ (learning by doing). I wouldn’t condemn players who do so. It’s not the people who are to blame here. It’s the system (can elaborate further).
So your point is: You are a decent skilled player who got kicked several times because you left the impession that you were unexpirienced, althoug the wipe wasn’t your fault. Right? (and you are angry about the people who kicked you instead of explaining the boss)
this is raids after all so an insta-kick for a person not 100.00% exp in pug groups is just ok. Sounds about right
Tbh – there is nothing you can do about that.. that’s how it is. If you give a weak impression you get substituted – simple as that. Raiding is hard in the beginning. This might sound ‘wrong’ but: Learn as much as you can before you start and then do as you did: join an exp group and try. Worst thing that could happen: you get kicked… well try again!
Groups might get angry about you for not telling that you are unexperienced and tricked them.. but since the system is like it is – this is the best way to get experienced…
But you have to handle the ‘feedback’ after you get debunked.
Oh and: The exp raiders aren’t the only ones who want to be efficient… go for an exp group is the most efficient way for newcommers to get exp… but kinda rude, i admitt.
Guess the offer is only for the english wiki?!
Can I ask what language wiki you’re from, if you don’t mind?
I’m from the german wiki… well kinda… There are much more holes to fill there, so most of the time i go for the english wiki right away. But there are articles wich are even better than the english ones – so i can gather information from both sources, if i have to.
I considered to contribute to some wiki articles before, however i hesitated because of the simple lack of ‘visible’ appreciation for the effort you have to put in. The wiki is taken for granted (wich isn’t manatory a bad thing), but as someone whose biggest motivator is the appreciaton of others, the wiki is not very appealing.
Still – the simple 2g offer from Dash, accompanied with the simplest kind of appreciation: ‘I see what you did there!’ is enough for me to give it another try.
I absolutely love Dash’s idea – maybe one could expand the idea to a broader spectrum of articles and wikis (maybe with ‘official support’?)

I’m not an achievement hunter myselft, but i see where you coming from. I think a fair competition is a good thing and AP should be ‘faired-out’.
There is no competition for AP.
Obviously there is. AP are there to be gained. And the ‘I-wanna-be-the-very-best’ attitude is a good thing. Why not encourage it by giving fair chances to be the best?
Guess the offer is only for the english wiki?!

Is there any chance for us to get the ‘jumping sounds’ outside of SAB? I would purchase it right away
^ What Zoltar said.
Unfortunately there were many posts around discussing this request. Somehow many of them dissappeared after a short while, so i guess ANet is very aware of this Glider/Jumping problem. As a ‘jumper’ i’d like to speak out for this request once again.
I use the LoiLo Game Recorder. Works perfectly well, even on rather weak systems.
Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKKO3AFaCxg
Maybe this is helpfull to you :>
Works as well (all Asc Weapons + Armors).
Mystic Forge:
– “Old” Weapon
– desired exotic insignia
– 5 ekto
– Anthology of Heroes
“A. 100 damage attack, 1 attack per second, 0% crit. 100 dps.
B. 100 condi attack, 1 attack per second, 100% duration. 100 dps.
C. 50 condi attack, 1 attack per second, 200% duration. 100 dps.”Equivalency. The attack that does 50 damage per second does… 50 DPS. It just does it over twitch as many ticks. This is not 100 DPS. This is why you don’t equate variables.
You’re either mentally challenged (which would explain all your posts) or this is the dead giveaway that you’re just trolling.
oO you don’t have to be rude just because someone is wrong. In fact he isn’t. He’s just regarding the first tic or disregard dot-stacking (THAT’S what’s wrong).
A. 100 damage attack, 1 attack per second, 0% crit. 100 dps.
B. 100 condi attack, 1 attack per second, 100% duration. 100 dps.
C. 50 condi attack, 1 attack per second, 200% duration. 100 dps.
C has 50 DPS in the very first sec. In sec. 2 C has 2 Stacks wich deal 50 Dmg each, giving him 100 Dmg for this sec. First sec is ramp up.
Scenario I:
Let’s assume A,B and C hitting three identical Mobs until they die. A and B wins against C (because C deals only 50 Dmg in the first second).
Scenario II:
Now let’s asume A,B, and C hitting three identical Mobs for exactly 5s. A and B deal 500 Dmg but so does C because he hits the Target in Second 6 for another 50 Dmg from the last tic (cool down phase). So the over all DPS in THIS scenario is identical.
Here is what you have to understand: The ‘ramp up’ (wich is a fixed amout of time) gets more and more irrelevant the longer the fight lasts (since you calc dmg/time).
IF the factor for Duration and Dmg is identical the DPS will be almost the same (longer fight -> more convergence ). Hence the factors are NOT the same (~6% more Dmg VS +10% more Duration) the duration will win in the long run.

I’m not here to comfort you … but try playing with tank bear, they can keep aggro while you standing behind. Chose the Beastmastery traitline and go with ‘Go for the eyes’ and ‘Beastly warden’. If you still can’t do it get a friend or two to help you out.
New NVIDIA driver came out today, fixed it for me.
1. Post in Mesmer Forum
2. Any proof rather than ‘I see a lot of these’?
3. subjective: don’t nerf mesmers… they are already in a quite misserable spot in PvE
@Mosferre why do you wanna keep this destructive conversation up?! … she wants people who are unhappy with the current system to share ideas… what you do is to fuel this aimless conversation about ONE player percive the situation different than others… can be please stuck to the topic?
I highly support this idea. The absolute control of your movements in a game where jumping and gliding is one of the key features to come around is a necessity. From the outside it looks like an ‘easy fix’; just delete the ‘IF jumpkey()>1sek THEN glider()’ statement (and make it a checkbox in the option menu), but who am i to judge (since i don’t know the code). Just want to say that it looks so easy make people happy and you just don’t do it – you didn’t even say SOMETHING about it (this is not the first thread that adresses the glider deployment topic). Pity.
The essence of the thread was:
‘I think the current block/report system is inefficient. If you think the same, share ideas on how to improve it.’
It was just an unfortunate phrasing that led this in a wrong direction. But what i can see is that the majority seems to go fine with the current system.
Sry if i din’t read all of this…
So basically you experienced somone beeing rude – like ‘go hang yourself’-rude. You go go report them and carry on for the moment. Afterwards a few days later you see him on mapchat still beeing rude to other people. Now you conclude that the report system isn’t enough and that this person goes on and harras people wich is a toxic thing for the whole community. Since you want the community to become a better place, you want to improve the inadequate system. Am i right – please correct me if i missunderstand you?
Thing is: It’s ANets game. So ANet only takes action if there is a reason for it and if the community as a whole demands it (like the current LFG situation). This place should be the place for this, but as you can see – there isnt enough to justify an overhaul of the system because the majority of the players seems to go fine with it.
Hope you understand that i don’t spend anymore thoughts in improvements of the system since i think it’s a waste of time :/ Current system meets my needs (Block → Report → Let ANet handle the judging).
Randomness kinda feels unfair sometimes. As Apple said concerning their shuffle option, “We’re making it less random to make it feel more random." Maybe Anet should do the same
If it’s exist, people will chase after it. Doesn’t matter if it’s actually better than the gear before. The golden rule is: Different color -> must be better (who likes numbers anyway). Let me list some Pros and Cons if they REALLY change asc gear:
Pros
- they would encourage people to gear up
- ascended armor would actually make a difference
- the new gear would worth the effort you put in to craft it
- every playstyle would benefit from it
Cons
- exotic gear will become ‘bad’
- every PUG group demand asc gear (okay, that’s the case right now, but their requests become legit)
- huge changes in WvW (jk… nobody plays WvW)
- some people are lucky – some not so much -> if you are lucky, you don’t have to put any effort into your significant better equipment (in contrast to the ones who have to craft it)
- ANet has to put some work into it (since time = money -> not gonna happen)
So… just an idea:
How about a rework of infusions? You can’t put any infusions into exotic gear, wich gives you a reason to get asc, but since usefull infusions for armor are extremely pricy nobody cares for them at all.
Make new infusions wich are affordable (maybe put them into a new profession or smth) and give them enough value to make a difference. You can even add some fancy stuff to them like: If you drop below 25% Health, you become larger (wich is helpfull for the healers).
This was just an idea with i had during breakfast, so i think there is much more potential if you give more thought to it
I kinda missed the part where you explained, why you can’t get glinding. Is it because you died in Verdant Brink?
If thats the case, let me give you some tips: Once you’ve got gliding unlocked, it’s unlocked for all your characters. So you only need the initial 500.00 EP (hope that’s correct). To do that, you have to do some events in Verdant Brink – so take a friend or two and ask them to help you OR (since all VB maps share the same event cycle) join the Map right after “Daybreak” (xx.30). If you do that you will find a questline starting south of the very first WP where you can participate and gain EP. (maybe you have to wait a bit until a few players show up, but you won’t be alone)

Little trick on how you can do the jump with 100% accuracy is included
Sure it is. In fact it’s the hardest JP ingame. All i’m saying is that it’s doable. In contrast to other JPs there are some tricks wich you have to figure out to get up quickly (and safely). Granted – it’s way to unforgiving, since it kills you if you don’t think before you jump (but i kinda like that).
If you having a bad time and REALLY can’t do it, feel free to /w me and i’ll port you up.
Edit: Maybe i’ll record a lil video to show you how to do it (if my Hardware can handle it). With some explanations ofc. Think this should make things easier. By this time i need 2 minutes from bottom to peak.
(edited by TheMSR.7120)
Don’t get it… where is the problem? You climb up – and jump down. Plenty of players did it before and the jump isn’t that hard if you watch a video before. Furthermore there are lots of friendly people there who are willing to rezz and port.
Yep, this happens several times. After the jump you have to swim a bit until you get reequipped. There isn’t any show-up for the completion – you have to check directly in the achievement itself, even when it’s the last goggle for the mastery point.
I’m often around to port people up – every single one who states, that it didn’t count got it on the second try OR they thought it didn’t count when it actually did (they were confused because of the lack of the ‘over-minimap’ notification).
So please double check.
For the sake of ‘listing-all-possible-reasons-why-it-could-have-failed’ i have make sure that you jumped the ‘right’ goggle. Kryta 8 is the Not-So-Secret Aetherblade goggle.
(edited by TheMSR.7120)
Itzel. You will use adrenaline mushrooms way more often than the nuhoch goob-stuff.

How about one Waypoint in each region?
I spend most of my time in jumping puzzles helping others. I can’t agree more on this request. There were several posts about this but mostly with an rather unfortunate title, so i guess they were deleted. I’m hoping this finds it’s way to the ear of the developers.
XetuCan someone explain a logical reason why you would ever hold down the jump key
If you spend hours and hours in JPs you will understand. For now: take it as a personel preference, but since this mechanic DO ruin jumping attempts (kinda like the double tap roll) there should be an option to deactivate the automatic glider deployment.
A simple checkbox in the Option Menu ‘Disable automatic glider deployment’ would be nice and helpful.
This mostly occurs then taxi-ing people. Since there isn’t an Maguuma-Jungle category yet, Maguuma taxis are in the ‘living world’ category. But i get the problem. My solution for taxis: Hope that players will join you one after another and kick them out of the group imitately after they joined your map.
Ah well, thought i did my research but somehow missed that thread. Thank you very much. The hype is real
Gliding in Central Tyria will be a thing, soon (Source). My Question is HOW soon? You may remember the big hype about the new fractal changes to December 15th and the HUGE letdown after we learned that the changes didn’t come up with the patch. I want to address the developers at this point, to prevent a similar disappointment:
Will this changes take effect with the next patch, or do we have to wait a little longer?
A simple: ‘Not ready yet – be patient’ will be enough to cool down the hype.
