Additions to Material Storage

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiburon.8634

I’d second the suggestion to add lumber cores.

And if you’re looking for things to cut, we could do without things like the anthology of heroes, milling basins and other things purchased from vendors. The only reason they would have to stay on the list is if they’re going to be added as loot drops in the game too.

For example, you could leave the vision crystals off the list because they are pretty expensive and most people probably won’t make too many that they don’t need, but you can get them from achievements and from the bloodstone/dragonite/empyreal gobblers, which means people can get extras regardless of whether they will use them or not, or even if they have the necessary crafting level to use them. And because they’re quite expensive they’re too valuable to simply throw away.

From the scribing section, if you’re going to drop anything it should be the scribing kits. Again, most people aren’t going to make extras just for the heck of it. And if dropping those means a higher chance that we can get lumber cores added in, that’s a great trade. Besides, what makes crafting the kits annoying is having to go craft the pen and paper materials again and again, and those are great additions to the list.

Code is fickle. And “changing the soulbinding of things not in the main bag” isn’t the most obvious thing to check either. Do we know how bad this was? Was it only certain items or classes of items like things that dropped on one character but were bound to another? Or was it (potentially) everything?

[/quote]
I honestly dont get how you manage to cause a bug of such a magnitude, that it modifies the soulbinding state of random item objects, in any bag but the main one, for a given player.

WvW Poll 04/28: Scoring vs. QoL (Closed)

Will any change to “night” scoring unintentionally harm wvw during these hours? Any change to their participation will cause some percentage of players to not go into wvw at all, which will then impact the proposed threshold for night participation getting upgraded to the full day point per tick.

In the past week Crystal Desert has lost several key commanders.

Crystal Desert, and more importantly the commanders, did it to themselves. For a while they were all about rising in the ranks and getting into a higher tier and yes, they did it, and then one by one they all left. It was obvious it was going to happen.

Who left this time?

Your top 5 priorities for WvW-Overhaul

Tiburon.8634

I bet the majority of the informed playerbase has not even stepped foot into the borderlands due to the waves of complaints.

If we revert back to the alpine borderlands we will not see a resurgence in WvW play. There will be a short period of time where everyone will get out the WvW itch they’ve been having and after no more than 1 or 2 weeks everything will be as dead as it was before HoT.

That’s probably true based on my experience.

I’m not a hardcore wvw player by any means, but I’d fix the desert map to make it easier to get around in and easier to get where the action is. Also your focus on population imbalance needs to be a priority. Right now i think you have a wildly different wvw experience depending on the server you’re on. Any dramatic changes you make in an environment like that will have unintended or uneven consequences.

HoT Feedback: A Small Casual Guild Experience

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Tiburon.8634

Tiburon.8634

The problem with HoT is that it is a radical design shift away from what GW2 was for 3 years. Dungeons certainly had problems but there were so many of them that “dungeons” was a variety of things to do. And HoT killed off dungeons and replaced them with nothing. The only equivalent is fractals, which we had before, and are one thing with one reward structure.

Because of the dailies, fractals are designed to do 9 a day. After that you’re only farming encryptions, and who doesn’t need more aquabreather recipes and t5 mats.

HoT is a theme park with 4 rides. 3 of them— meta events, fractals and Raids—have a height requirement (the metas are much more onerous than either dry top or silverwastes) and the other (dungeons) has an out of order sign hanging from the entrance.

To the OP, have you tried organizing a guild wide farm for scribing materials? Potatoes, strawberries, flax, leather, cloth, wood, more potatoes. Have a scavenger hunt for blueberries! That is sure to be a blast.

You can do the story with other people. Solo is pretty rough at first until you understand the different kinds of attacks you can do. I’d also recommend going with tizlak instead of helping defend the itzel village when you’re on that mission.

You don’t actually have the raven I think. You need to do most if not all of the steps above the one you’re doing to get the raven. This means finding the egg, hatching it, etc. Some, but not all of the steps in the collection can be done in just about any order though.

I got the achievement by flying to where you are, which didn’t actually trigger the achievement, and then jumping back off and flying back towards the Arboreal POI.

Tiburon.8634

You can do it without YouTube which many of us who did them that first week didn’t have access to. The videos just cut down on the learning aspect so all that’s left is to duplicate what was done in the videos. Players are still more than welcome to not use them.

Oh I’m well aware. But if the response is “go to youtube” that negates the reason for having adventures in the first place. Something about combining logic puzzles and a race makes these incredibly annoying. With the Mad King’s Clocktower (which many people hate and consequently don’t do) you can at least easily see where you went wrong. This is obtuse.

Edit: It also doesn’t help that the game engine is poorly equipped to handle the adventures. I steadfastly defended jumping puzzles from the people that complained about the camera or Charritis or Chronic Nornism making them difficult because you could take your time. You can’t do that here. Plus while the action camera alleviates some of these concerns, when you’re burning the tendrils it seems like half your flame blasts go into the ground or go over the tendrils.

Tiburon.8634

For anyone struggling with an adventure, check youtube.

This is ridiculous. I mean, yes, Arenanet has basically admitted that adventures are a scam to get views on youbtube when they said they’re designed so that people can say “look at this new strategy/path to do this adventure” but it is terrible game design.

If you’re going to have an adventure, you should be able to see where you went wrong in the game and see where you need to go in the game not in some external youtube video. If, for example, you could walk around the wreckage of the ship and see where the bombs and tendrils are before you start this piece of garbage adventure and plan ahead before you start, it wouldn’t be so bad. But you can’t. You get two minutes to run around and locate them, which is stupid.

They said they didn’t implement the legendary backpiece because they wanted to make leaderboards better, cooler, grander, faster and stronger.

So whatever you need to do to get the backpiece it probably won’t be good. It also means there are probably people salvaging lots of ascended items now that are going to be pretty disappointed/feel cheated/bait and switched when they find out what it takes to do the final step.

My advice to people is to wait before you know what you’re getting yourself into.

They said you get a buff for doing the most recent raid content (4 gold instead of 2, maybe some other things) so that says to me that they may eventually nerf the older raids, but I wouldn’t expect it to be on the same schedule as the rate they add new ones.

Heart of Thorns already has nothing to do for people that just want to have fun. Can I imagine a future where we have 2 years worth of raid releases of similar or possibly increasing difficulty and nothing else for people to do? Yes. But it doesn’t seem very likely.

if people were having fun, they wouldn’t bother coming to the forums, they come because they hope their input will make a change. Little do they know, anet doesn’t care, they think only apathetic people complain. [backwards anet logic as usual]

What many of you should realize is that most of these purportedly “loud” messages do nothing because they likely do not follow forum etiquette and are largely ignored. The only “input for change” that can be respected is one that’s given in respect. I myself would ignore most of these posts were I in their feet, and if you are honest, so would you.

Rage gets nothing, really. Post intelligently before considering even being considered (not aimed at you, but to everyone in general.) You could make a genuine, intelligent game complaint without sounding like a ranting jerk like many tend to do (“passion” for the game “you love” will probably get you zero results.)

The game doesn’t respect people’s time anymore. Anyone paying attention can see that. It isn’t just the same old complaint about poor rewards or whether or not the game is grindy. It is the nature of the HoT maps, events and related systems themselves.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

1. Remove adventures altogether. I don’t want to do some terrible time trial to get a mastery point that I need not for the stupid time trial mastery track which does not exist, but for the actual content and type that I might enjoy and have been enjoying since 2012.

2. Remove the event participation drain. People leave maps when they know it is going to fail and pretty soon you’re sitting in a dead map and depending on the map, nothing to do but watch your reward drain away because if 100 people couldn’t do the events, chances are you’re not going to be able to solo it.

It’s the same as many of the other faces. They are one base face with some variation in it. You can see it when they have added faces in the past too. It probably should be changed so that salvaging any collectable adds it to the collection.

Yeah, I can’t imagine it doesn’t work that way already. The wardrobe was so forward thinking. And the interface for the collections tab is very similar to the wardrobe, and it pulls or shares data with the wardrobe. It never occurred to me that the collectibles tab would treat accessories differently than weapons.
