Just be glad they made them account bound. I bought the original set when they first came out and they were soulbound on equip. I ended up deleting the character I had equipped them on. After many emails to support, they un bound the tools for me in the bank so I could equip on another character before the NPC was added to trade them in for account bound versions.

bwe3 kinda killed mallyx for me as well. I really want to like it. Was even dreaming of a gemstore Abaddon or margonite outfit as a cherry on top
I only tried ventari during the last 2 hours of BWE3. I never play healers in mmos but I was amazed how much fun I was having with it and hammer.
since no other threads came up in search results I’ll bump this one just for support. Since playing the Mallyx rev during BWE I am hungrily awaiting full release. I’ve been planning out the look as I find it paramount to my enjoyment of a spec. Of course margonites are the theme. But you can only get so close with the available gear. I would seriously pay 5k gems for an abaddon or margonite outfit or armor set at this point. I’m somewhat confident they will eventually get around to one after the other gods.
since discovering this I have been uninterested in playing with pistols. Apparently they removed the Thief’s ricochet shot too.
i think it should look like you’re holding a small cannon aimed upwards. It’s a mortar after all. Those new shiney gold trimmed lion’s arch cannons would be a good design que.
wasnt getting any until early Friday, it gradually got worse until it became unplayable. 5 sec delay to harvest. NPCs teleporting around. Getting hit by invisible NPCs

I log back in after several month breaks now and again and find…
no capes
no mounts
no new races
no new classes or even new class weapon choices
a lackluster gem store selection
and I lose more hope every time that any of those things will ever change.
What if you deleted the character that the old tools were bond too?
I’m re-downloading the game now, but when they first let you trade them for account bound versions I found I couldn’t pull them out of my bank with any character. I remember making a ticket at the time and they said sorry boutcha.

both the Engi and Mesmer have 3 profession skills that cause confuse, engi has shorter average cooldowns.
Through traits the Mesmer can get retaliation after a shatter and on block, aside from random boons or to phantasms. The engi only gets it through Elixir B.
Is anyone else in the group focusing on support? If you didn’t want to slot both you can always swap as the situation changes.
slot medkit, elixir B, rocket boots, slick shoes.
regardless of traits you’ll be outpacing everyone.
I don’t slot any of those usually, so I got runes of the traveler
speedy kits gets old real fast
well if you are asking about what to do when you cannot get away or do not have good close range abilities slotted, just keep shooting them in the face. It’s not like there’s a ranged dead zone or that taking melee hits interrupts your shots.
It was even worse when some spears had harpoongun models

The most obvious to me would be
Engi – Mace, and or Hammer, harpoon gun on land sounds awesome
Guard – Long Bow(spirit weapon and all)
Mes – main hand pistol
Ranger – Rifle, Staff(druidic spells maybe?)
Thief – Rifle
This is the most exciting possible addition to the game for me ATM.

most responses to questions like these on the Forum will be people who quit because they think ANet peed in their cornflakes but still pollute the forum with incessant complaining about subjective issues and conjecture. Find woodenpotatoes channel on youtube. Just watching his lore videos makes you want to play.

A year after I got my first engi to 80 I leveled another one to 80 just to have a different look.

call me a lunatic but I want them to combine the bomb, grenade, & mine into 1 “demolition” kit. I hate the bomb and grenade kit now. The mine needs to be more like the Charr racial shrap mine, which does more damage and has more utility on a shorter cooldown.
So basically it works out like this; it is an either/or situation. Either I slot the turrets for their tool belt skills, or the turrets themselves; we can’t actually use both. If I intend to use the tool belt, then I can’t place the turrets, and if I intend to use the turrets I can’t use the tool belt. Sort of destroys that “engineers have more skills than everyone else” theory doesn’t it?
consider this:
I use rifle & rocket turrets for the toolbelt skills that are targeted projectiles for static discharge procs on low & med cooldowns respectively. Alternately in a big group fight the 2 turrets can be thrown down to do steady dps outpacing the utility skills. Further more in a pinch situation they can be dropped and detonated for either the blast finishers or the burst damage of detonation.
I don’t ever feel like an either or choice with slotting turrets.
Charr are harder to make look good in armor but shrapnel mine is one of the best racial utility skills. I have a Human and Charr engi. I made the human after I got tired of the hunched over stance and looking bad in armor.
I enjoy the engineer more than any class from all MMO’s I’ve played as far back as Shadowbane. A few classes in Warhammer online come close but they were far less balanced which made them more of a chore to play.
Also, when compared with the launch version of the skill it seems absolutely amazing
I only wish I hadn’t leveled an Engi first. No other class has been able to hold my interest for 80 levels.
Is this recently? I tried it today and the item would transmute, but once in the bank, my other character which I wanted it on wasn’t able to take it out of the bank at all
I haven’t tried since this last patch, it’s possible they changed it since then, which is unfortunate.
I always had good luck in warcraft with the GMs restoring things for me I unintentionally lost, you might make a ticket about it. I don’t see why they couldn’t restore your original backpack.
I’ve been trying to find a good set of utility skills that go with it as I go back and complete some low lvl zones.
I wish the melee didn’t feel so slow, and really wish prybar smack was a pbaoe even if they had to remove the confuse.
Love the magnet now though.
I’ve tried the transmuting thing, but once something is soulbound, you can’t take it out of your bank anymore.
I havent tried with back items specifically, but I have with the starting head pieces. It will say soulbound on the item after your lvl 1 alt transmutes it, but you can still euip it on another character.
I am one of the few who is happy. The ‘nerfs’ didn’t affect my build.
Toolkit changes were nice, though I would have preferred the gear shield cool down reduced instead of block duration increased. Still hoping they eventually just change the wrench model to a big 2h pipe-wrench to aesthetically fit the slow swing and just look cooler.
the thumper was the only turret I used regularly and it got quite a nice dmg increase.
Can you transmute the engy bag to other characters like how you can do it with Priory, Vigil and Whisper armours?
the only trick is finding a back slot item that can be freely traded. With the goggles you can make a lvl 1, use a stone to transmute them to a white head piece and throw it in the bank, then any medium armor character can equip or transmute it. If the guild backpacks aren’t bind on acquire they should work.

the elixir gun, healing turret and the right traits(409) is amazing support, even with no +healing gear.

you can’t understand the beauty of this class by embarrassing a few noobs in WvW, then starting an alt.
I had thr same feeling trying to find an alt. Seriouly considered lvling another pure support engi.
I have found the shortbow thief the most enjoyable so far.
Like, most professions get their full profession mechanic at level 7. The engineer gets his fully, at level 20.
The engi gets access to the class mechanic at lvl 5 when you get your first utility slot, the only thing you get at 20 is the elite skill which doesnt have a toolbelt ability associated with it.
1: flamethrower kit, smoke vent…they use the same armor and if I’m not mistaken the engineer loses his improved toughness shield trait when he equips a kit.
juggernaut 200 toughness and engi has much higher base HP than Thief. (scratching head)
how many complaining have actually played said engineer?
it IS the least played class overall, it is NOT the most conveluded class. Get your engi to 80 then roll a mesmer.
I had it click in 2 stages.
Stage 1: rerolled human to Charr at lvl 66
Stage 2: tried all the builds and traits I had ignored before
loving it now at 80
I think the toolkit could be improved to give the feel of a hammer. Changing the wrench model to a big 4’ pipewrench is the easiest first step. I’d like to see more traits work with the toolkit and possibly changing its abilities. Magnet is almost completely worthless.
I definitely want a dedicated melee option for the engineer
I wish rocket spray wasn’t so unaimable and could do without 3 of the 5 skills being basically single target. But getting a well placed rocket barrage off is a thing of beauty
