There’s a new site called Guild Bastion that’s geared towards managing/starting guilds. There’s a couple of posts on the ‘Leadership Blog’ already. They are also starting a guild recruitment service for games. A complete package kinda thing.

2127 is the base armor of heavy armor classes (Warrior/Guardian). If you double that armor (4254) you will get 50% damage reduction. You would need to double it again, or 8508 armor, to get to 75%. Trying to double it a second time would not be feasible/worth your while. Better to add vitality/power/other stats.
edit: Here’s a link to the math behind it in case you’re interested in going really in-depth.

Could you tell us more about the build? Is the mace/shield the primary weapon set? Are there banners, shout heals, or any other characteristics you can provide?
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I’ve had a Warrior since launch, and recently started a Guardian. The above two are dead on, but I’d like to add the one big difference I’ve noticed. Mobility. I really miss the mobility of my warrior when I play my guardian. Warrior is a lot more flexible when it comes to weapon selection for mobility. X+Warhorn, sword+X, or anything/Greatsword. Guardian has staff and greatsword. Maybe sword if you’re in the right environment. I recall this being the deciding factor when I was choosing between them at launch too.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
It still works, and I still use it. I have updated the build some since then. Not sure how that rifle keeps sneaking in there. Here is the updated link:
I actually just uploaded a couple of videos to the channel yesterday showing some of what it can do. If you want to do massive damage, there are definitely better options. If you want to survive at all costs, I haven’t found a better option yet.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I co-nominate SoS and Mags. They got stuck in a horrible spot, but still toughed it out. Didn’t win a single matchup week, but still pushed on.
+1 to both of your servers.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Technically a roaming build would work in a zerg. You’d likely be a glass cannon. A ‘zerg build’ is a build that is meant to play as part of a big team, and has lots of defense to deal with massive incoming damage. A roaming build is meant for solo play, or a small team. It is meant to deal damage, not take it. Either builds could potentially be lacking in the other role. It comes down to something like a roaming build performs at 100% while roaming, and 80% while zerging. A zerging build performs at 80% while roaming, and 100% while zerging. Not exact numbers, a lot depends on the build, but you get the idea.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I use a shout heal build with that kind of survivability. It’s not a pure self-survival build though. It has some to offer groups as well. Like you mentioned, it’s not super effective solo, but you can take a whole camp on by yourself.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I would recommend Axe/Mace+Sword/Shield. Axe/Mace for DPS, then Sword/Shield for CC/mobility/defense. The weapons just seem to fit better in my experience. Is this for PvE/WvW/PvP?
www.ConstantWarfare.com
ok thanks, sometimes its very hard to control my rage thats all
Make your own chat tab for sPvP and turn off emotes and /say chat.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Greatsword, shout heals, and condition builds are pretty strong. What type of builds are you looking for? (Melee, ranged, PvE, WvW, solo, groups, etc).
They are not nerfing the stun part of hammer build exactly, they are nerfing the ability to combine the damage and stun parts. You’ll have to choose which you want now.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Give more points for defending. This will encourage defense, and discourage mindless zerging. If a zerg tries and fails to take something, they just wasted a lot of time and they give enemies points. If you lose a fight, your enemy deserves some kind of recognition. ATM there is no penalty for zerging and failing. Make zergs play smarter.
This puts a point emphasis on winning battles. If servers are asleep, their forts are only getting taken once. Servers with massive holdings should be required to guard those holdings. How many countries in the history of the world conquered something strategic, then left it unguarded? Is beating on empty keeps/towers really why we play WvW? Let’s give players a reason to fight each other.
TO THE VICTOR GOES THE SPOILS!
Not just the server with the most abandoned structures every 15 minutes.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Defending rewards are much harder to implement, there is no set goal in defending something. The focus right now is on conquering because after killing the lord and a few seconds there is your reward.
Now try to implement such a thing with defense, when does the reward trigger and who gets it?
This already happens. The goal is for the tower/keep Lord to survive for three minutes. They can either lower the timer, or increase the rewards to incentivise defending.

Whatever you like man. It’s your time to spend!

I started with Melandru, tried others, now i’m back to Melandru. I haven’t tried soldiers specifically though. Unless you have a lot of condition control elsewhere in your build, these are about all you’ll need.
edit: Solely a WvW perspective. Not sure what game mode you’re looking for.

The only thing that remains to be seen is whether or not BG or JQ win in NA. TC couldn’t win if the planets aligned. Everyone knows it, the devs know it, and this simpering, mewling marketing letter they’ve published is insulting to the intellect.
TC is going to place third due to the way points are awarded.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
In JQ, we don’t have any other competition than SoR and BG when it comes to score and constant action. You eventually push the lower tier servers off the map and onto another. If you try to join that map, it has a queue and you’re stuck just walking around and waiting for something to happen/flip to go after.
You guys really need a league of your own. The lower three T1 servers are just free points for the top three every week. Love my server, don’t want to leave it, but man it’s frustrating. A 30-50 man zerg from any one of the top 3 T1 servers can just walk into our garrison and take it away, at any given time of the day.
I hope they have different plans for next season.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
This build you can use with Sword/Shield+Rifle or Sword/Shield+Greatsword. I know you said you don’t like the GS, but in this build it’s only intended for mobility. I played with Rifle for the longest time because I hated the GS too. Now, the GS is a staple. I miss the ranged attack, but the mobility is just amazing. Sword & board are your main weapons either way. It’s essentially a shout heal build. It’s intended for WvW & sPvP. Maybe PvE if you adapted the gear/runes/sigils.
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2012/11/squadcommander.html
Here’s a more DPS focused build, but still offers some shout heals and warhorn benefits. The rifle is the main damage source. It’s good for anything.
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2013/01/speedbleed.html
In support builds, Axe isn’t very popular. I know there are bow builds, but i’m not sure how support/utilitarian they are. I’ve never had a bow build, so hopefully someone can link you to one. Sword/sword I think is also a nice condition DPS build, but not a support choice.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
My suggestion would be PVT gear with offensive runes and trinkets/weapons. Sword/shield+Greatsword.
It seems like you’re looking for a halfway, jack-of-all-trades build. If so, I’d rethink your traits. One trait in your entire build adds to your DPS, and that trait is the one based on your toughness.
You want as much damage as you can, but not a pure DPS build. You want a roaming build, but one with a lot of survivability for zergs. These are on competing ends of the proverbial build spectrum. 0/0/30/30/10 is always going to lean heavily on the tanking end. Gearing with DPS gear and runes will not be optimal with this build. No DPS gear with will synergize well with this build. No matter where diminishing returns begins on toughness, you will still get more mileage out of toughness than any DPS stat. You even have a trait that gives power based on your toughness.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Axe offhand is junk in any game mode.
Just because you don’t like it, or it isn’t a popular meta build, doesn’t mean it’s not fun.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Axe/axe and axe/mace are super fun weapon combos. I used to farm in Orr with axe/axe and my magic find set.
Definitely not WvW friendly weapon combos though.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Not stupid at all. I like the same kind of builds. If you’re happy not being the top DPS in your group, you can try a warrior shout/heal build. Great for surviving in WvW, and helping with world events in PvE. If you do a dungeon, I’d swap the gear set to knights/berserker/carrion. If you do WvW, I’d swap the rifle for a greatsword:
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2012/11/squadcommander.html
If you want a more direct DPS role, so far my favorite is sword/Warhorn + rifle. There are the some variants in the builds, but i used this with good results:
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2013/01/speedbleed.html
I’ve used both in WvW, PvE, and sPvP with good results. Both are also builds for traveling with groups. For roaming in WvW you probably want something else.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I really enjoy a sword/shield+great sword build on my warrior. It’s got a lot of survivability, some heals and utility for the group, and a bunch of mobility for traversing the map (and getting away if you need to).
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2012/11/squadcommander.html
If you don’t like the utility/support route, sword/Warhorn + rifle is fun too. You’ve still got awesome mobility, some but not as much support for allies, and a fair amount of DPS enemies can’t ignore. There are probably some variants for this, but a fun one I used is:

I see this question asked a lot. I forget sometimes people are on their first MMO, and that Guild Wars 2 isn’t as ‘traditional’ as the MMOs of the old world.
Anyway, my first suggestion is to gear out in exotics, then re-skin to how you want it. If you don’t know what you’re doing, at least you’ll look good (not) doing it!
After that, there’s a ton for you to do at 80. I put together a list here of everything I could think of:
www.ConstantWarfare.com
You can get the temple set easily with a group of friends. The Melandru temple is probably the easiest to get. This last Saturday at 2 am all the temples were up too. Just wait till the weekend and you should be golden.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I use this build for your exact reasons:
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2012/11/squadcommander.html
Lots of survivability, and some utility for the team. I’ve started using a Greatsword as the off-weapon for mobility. I really enjoy this build, and have used it more than any other. WvW is 90% of what I do.
I had a fun 1v1 fight with it the other day, but it isn’t a solo build. This is kinda what you can expect:

Strongest depends on what you’re looking for. PvE or WvW? Do you like to DPS? Support? What weapons do you want to use?
You can craft armor, buy it on the TP, buy it from karma vendors around the world, special events like the Mad King (jumping puzzle), dungeons – exotic armor can be gotten tons of places. All exotic armors are equal though. A crafted exotic will be the same as a you get in a dungeon (stat balance wise).
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Any build for leveling is viable. I’d try to build your own at first. It’ll help you understand the warrior mechanics better. Signet builds are super easy to use, you can start there. Just take all Signets for your abilities, and use whatever weapons you want. When you get closer to 80, and have a better idea of what you like and want to do, you can start to worry about build specifics. Until then, just have fun.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
1. Healing Signet or Healing Surge, depending on your build. Usually Healing Signet will do for leveling up.
2. Tank/Support
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2012/11/squadcommander.html
DPS
http://www.constantwarfare.com/2013/01/speedbleed.html
These are the ones I use. They work for me at endgame. If you want something simpler to level up with, just run a signet build.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
1. Signet builds are great for beginners. Whether you use your signets, or not, there’s a constant benefit. I leveled up with signets, but just realize it’s unlike other builds. It’ll take adjusting to switch to a non-signet build. Not a bad thing, just a heads up. The build I used leveling up is here:
http://www.ConstantWarfare.com/2012/09/lazywarriorspec.html
2. Up until 90, whatever you can get your hands on should be fine. Don’t sweat your gear too much. Power, toughness, vitality are all good for leveling, but stats also depend on your weapons…
3. Whatever weapons you want to use while leveling are fine. Play with them all as you level up, see what you like best. Use those at 80. While some people will tell you there is only one build to play at 80, there are in fact several that are viable. And depending on what content you are doing, just about anything is viable. If you want to out-dps everyone in the group, there may only be one spec you can use. If you want to do more than enough dps, but not quite the most, the weapon choices are endless. I’ve used rifle since I could equip one, and greatsword for only about a month now. Still had fun since day one.
4. Warriors are just fine end game, and there are plenty of different builds to choose from. Very fun class to play, and very versatile.
Feel free to ask more questions here. S’what it’s for.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I use this build with sword+shield/GS right now. It’s a type of warrior shout build:
It’s very tanky/utility. The sword is only for looks and mobility. I had a magic find set that used double axes and this build, with axe+shield for offset. Swapping out an axe should be no big deal. In fact, plan to try it out myself. I miss using axes. If you’re interested, there’s more about the build here:
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I use sword+shield/Greatsword with my shout build. It’s more defensive than yours, but I love it. I’ve used this build more than any other on my warrior, and i’ve been playing since pre-launch. I use this build in WvW:
Sword is for mobility, shield is for survivability. I used to use a rifle for the off-weapon, but lately I swapped to GS for increased mobility. Liking that added mobility a lot. I really like the utility and tankiness of shout builds. I’m playing with a banner build in sPvP, and thinking of testing it in WvW. If you like that build, you can read up more on it here:
www.ConstantWarfare.com
(edited by Traitine.8713)
Thieves and Mesmers seem to make the best roamers. Warriors are also good roamers with certain builds. I want to say ranger has a good roamer build too, but I can’t remember the name? Check the ranger forums. They’ll tell you. Stick with what you like.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I’d also recommend Magic Find. 20% is huge.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
I played a paladin for seven years in WoW, and here I play a warrior. Warriors are simple to play, and offer the widest variety of play styles. They are also arguably the most mobile with the right weaponset.
My favorite is a tanky build (prof Paladin), but it’s definitely a group build. For mobility, I’d suggest Greatsword and/or Sword+warhorn. Top mobility with both, good with either. Greatsword makes a great solo roaming build too, it has been the most popular since the game launched. I stay away from popular builds so I don’t have any specifics, but I’m sure you can Google one.
Also, Necros are good in sPvP. If you want to play one, I’d stick with it if you like it. I’ve found I can enjoy the game with nearly any kind of crazy build, and WvW and sPvP are 95% of what I do.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Shouts are so bad though…
Why do you say shouts are bad? They provide a 2200+ heal, and condition removal/might boon for an entire group of people. I’m not sure why anyone would be down on shout builds.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
If you are buying P/V/T Karma armor, or have the money, I’d suggest Melandru. Even with a shout build they are awesome. Having all those stuns and conditions roll off let you get out of a lot of ugly situations.
If you’re looking for something cheap to try out, Soldiers will work.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Guildcast from Gamebreaker TV is pretty good. As far as I know they do one almost every week.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
It’s all about choice. If you’re having fun, tank or DPS doesn’t matter. There is no one way to play a warrior.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Are you planning on PvE or WvW? A lot depends on what you will spend most of your time doing, and whether you run around solo or in groups. It looks like you want to be tanky, so you will probably want to focus on a support/utility role. This is much better suited to groups, just to let you know. You mention doing open world stuff, which can still involve groups of people (whether they are grouped with you or not). I run a tank build and love it. I mostly run in WvW with groups of people.
A little more detail would help us to answer your questions better.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
So healing power scales pretty bad with headings sig ?
I am leveling my warrior right now and was planning on getting some cleric trinks and zerker amulet with PVT or a zerker/pvt mix armor( haven’t decided yet). I only playing WvW and mostly roam so would I be wasting stats getting cleric trinks?
For roaming, cleric trinkets would be a waste. As the person above you mentioned, damage and mobility are more important for roamers.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Hey, I need some help with my runes and armor on my warrior, I don’t know what I should use, I kinda wanna be able to do some damage while be able to have enough toughness not to die heaps in dungeons etc, at the moment I’m using soldier runes, sentinels armor I would get divinity but their to expensive and armor I just have no idea what I should be using, any tips would be great
Go play around in the Mists. You can experiment with all the runes and armor types you want.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Weird since I don’t run with any cleric trinkets and all pvt and heal for 1900 I wonder if swapping out to cleric trinks is even worth it.
It might be 2400ish. I barely remember seeing the tooltip yesterday. The shout heal coefficient was buffed to 90% of heal power if that helps you decide. Also the healing power (potentially) affects more than just your shout heals.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Just Cleric trinkets (exotic) heals for a little over 2200. I run with pvt gear and cleric trinkets and loved it, even before the change.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Try playing with Guardian Runes. Could be fun/funny.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Since you’re going for a shield in PvE, and wanting the regen, I take it you’re looking a support build? This is the one I use. You can swap the main hand to an Axe with no problem. Offset weapons you can go axe+warhorn (which is super fun), or stick with the rifle.

Thank you for this.
www.ConstantWarfare.com
Every warrior build I’ve played has had a sword. Swords are great for the mobility alone in WvW. I can’t really speak to much in PvE, but if you’re using a shield I’m assuming you’re going for a utility build and not concerned about DPS.
