Worst reward ever. Never setting foot in wvw or even GW until they give us some proper rewards for our efforts. Being up all nights just to help our server to claim the first place and i get better loot and rewards just by playing for 2 hours. GG…

Hate to be rude, but this isn’t a bad thing. Those of us who love wvw can now play the game we want.

- What gives you the right to make a statement like that?- IF you read the post PROPERLY you will see they say that they stayed up during night times to help secure a first place – WE all know that night times is generally when coverage is lower and every body counts to help defend upraded keeps and retake supply camps.
LOTS of people put EXTRA effort into wvw (including gold spent on upgrades) to find that the extra effort could have been spent more profitably in pve.

And WvW? Make me laugh most of it is a blob rushing round capping keeps , not even defending, then map zoning out , retake keeps on that bl and so on – its no more than bashing some doors down.

NO thought went into the reward. They don’t care about making wvw’ers happy – they are more concerned with not upsetting the pve’rs.
And to the comment about “thats what wvw’ers do anyway- why get a decent reward?”- this can be applied to fractals and dungeons – some people do things because they enjoy them, just the rewards for those that wvw are greatly reduced than those gained in pve.
ALL of this would not make the slightest difference if these rewards were purely cosmetic – BUT ascended is not purely cosmetic. But then again they said prelaunch that there would be no end game gear progression.

When will we get our rewards?

RISK vs REWARD

The reward vs Risk for zerging is too great.

I can get several ranks in a game session zerging – and i dont even have to contribute. . . . its EASY.
Roaming takes a lot longer to get ranks (no high wxp from castle/keeps)

SIMPLE ANSWER:
Divide the wxp between the number of people that earned those points

A lot (not all) of people will not zerg if the personal reward is not there… someone somewhere has nearly 3000 ranks? . . . well you can bet they got that by zerging.

Surely the FAIR way is to split the reward (wxp) between everyone involved?
Duo’d towers and trio’d keeps, surely the rewards (wxp) for that should be FAR greater than 50+ people taking towers/keeps?

I also would love to see a -1% mf per person in a radius from the player ( 50 people in a 900 (? just for example) radius from the player results in a -50% mf for that player) –
How can you find a good magic item when there’s 50 other people trampling and looting?

Zerging for server points and achievements will still happen – But zerging for personal reward will no longer be viable – BANG the zerg is disbanded- in fact you might even find people transferring from the zerging servers to the less populated servers.

Simple fix: put a marker on the map that will follow the movement of any group over xx size.(similar to crossed swords). Now large groups are easy to avoid, easy to track, and easier to counter.

lets put a marker on the map for small groups, so they can be attacked, and squished.

Seriously, if you get killed by the zerg, you get killed.

Plenty of times there is a group of 3 to 5 that will kill one person who is running by. Should we put a marker on the map and show them so people could avoid them?

SERIOUSLY? and you can just tell the people that only run with the blob (because of the vast skill needed to do that!)

A soloer has a chance of avoiding/defeating a small group but against a blob? maybe, if only a couple leave the blob to chase said soloer- but that doesn’t happen and it takes LOTS of people to chase and kill that ONE person.
WHY? Because that solo player is stupid enough to play solo? or because that solo player has skill and it takes LOTS of people to kill them?

Behind every ‘toon’ is a player and its sad to think that this is the state of the game at the moment. People can blame rewards etc etc but at the end of the day its the player that makes the decisions, and if their decision is to blame the game for its battle/reward(etc) system, – then surely the blame lays in their own hands as a player?

Just logged in for the first time for a few weeks, expecting to have lots of chests with goodies in it (that i worked hard for) – now i find that you get the chests with a NEW rank level and the backlog is caught up at one chest per rank level.
Needless to say i logged straight back out again, (i play games for fun and i’m having more fun(and better rewards) with other games)

This has got to be the most heavily moderated forum i have ever been on.

After Playing for Thousands of hours for nine months i have come to the conclusion that this is just ‘politics’ what we are promised is far different from what we recieve.

BUG fixes?? Profession/ skill/ trait fixes???? Go on tell another joke- make me laugh some more.

I have not logged on (not even for my daily) for two weeks (yet spent time and money on other games).

After reading the patch notes i will not be logging in this month

Conclusion

Guild Wars 2 failed. By ArenaNet’s own definition of success, “Is it fun?”, the answer often is “no, it’s not”. Good for them that the community of grinders that fill this (and all other) MMO are not really interested in fun.

My advice is: play through the tutorial, and then go explore the world. Do all the interesting dynamic events you find, admire the beautifully crafted world, listen to all the ambient dialogues, dig through all the lore you can find; do that from the starting areas all the way to right before you enter Orr. Ignore hearts, the personal story, dungeons, and definitely ignore the “lesser” aspects of the game (trading, crafting, item acquisition, etc). Once you have explored everything other than Orr, leave the game and never look back.

Summed it up pretty well, lotta typing for no reason but hey i agree with what you said, Play the basics and move on, sadly this isn’t how you’re supposed to enjoy a mmo but ok..even more sadly this is how GW2 should be done apparently..

Nine months (and still waiting) for profession bug fixes that have been around (and known about) since beta. And NO fix – In fact most of the time its a denial that a bug exists and it takes the community to show the devs that it does.
WvWvW is sadly so broken its beyond a joke. – But they could of captured a Big market here – if they got it right.
mods can delete and give infractions out so why cant they comment ‘dev xxxxxx is aware of this bug and is working on it high priority’ instead of being ignored.
I think the sour grapes comes from the players that have been around since pre/launch and see the same (if not more) Profession bugs whilst soooo much (sometimes epic fail) Temporary content has been added (and removed).. . . . . YES bugs exist in a lot of games but there should NOT be class/profession related bugs NEVER EVER. Whilst bugs exist like this pvp will NEVER work.

EDIT:
Has this game failed? . . . keep a track of your ‘friends’ achievement points (to see who doesnt play anymore), check the social networking sites for GW2 and other games, check the gaming community and see what people are playing, check the share values for ncsoft. Then when YOU have all the information you will have the answer

I enjoyed (most) of the game and got my moneys worth for hrs played – but meh they dont care – so why should I?

just go to twitch and see what people are watching- says it all. As it has been said 2013 is a big year for mmos. The concept of gw2 is brilliant just a shame they couldn’t of made it work.
I’ve spent thousands of hours in game and have (mostly) enjoyed it and Yes it has been worth every penny.

statistics show that 15% of a mmo population farm, if farming is not seen as viable then that is 15% of the population lost. No wonder gw2 is failing

80% of all statistics are made up on the spot. And GW2 failing is total supposition.

I go with the thousands of companies that use statistics. Yes you are right it is not defintive truth BUT it does show trends. My example is accurate and used in the gaming industry: If you sit 100 mmo gamers in a room 15 of them will concentrate on crafting. 1% will concentrate on (40 person) raids (this % increases as the raid size decreases). This is the reason large group raids was not implemented in this game.

AS to total supposition sales and share prices are the answer to that.

sigh 9 months, Whats annoying is all the money spent on temporary content (and mods) and they can’t even go through the tooltips and fix all the Confirmed errors (both on forum and wiki).
. . I appreciate its not a 5second fix but a lot of these errors have been around since launch (in fact with all the very obvious errors it feels like open beta )

Its a shame when a companies priorities does NOT match that of its customers

A mate of mine started working on his house 25 years ago – he still hasn’t got the roof on!!!
Seriously 9 months since launch and the combat log is STILL minimal BUT how much kitten temporary content has there been? I mean i know you gotta do that to try to retain and make more customers but if spvp is to succeed then all aspects need to be looked at (and not just arenas etc).

Have the downed state ONLY if your outmanned.
To be honest WvW is very broken (either by the way anet designed and implemented it – or the player base)
The game has been released for 9 months, there have been plenty of regular temporary content but sooooo much is STILL broken.
Once you realise that anet only care about NEW players you will realise that wvw will NEVER become what the COMMUNITY wants.
Sure i’ve had fun in the last 9 months (few thousand game hours) but when something stops becoming fun – then its time to move on.

no snow covered objects on desolation, It’s another holiday weekend (they should release patches well before hols).

If anet keep ‘failing’ with monthly content then people will/have lost interest and thats a fail for doing content at the optimum 28days to lower churn. I understand why they do it (to keep players interested)- but unless its polished then its a fail so not worth doing in the first place

^^ THIS is EXACTLY why a THREEWAY map was designed. I’m sure if the majority of sfr and deso realised that attacking vz and not each other would be to their mutual advantage i’m sure vz would drop positions (but pushing them into t2 could be difficult).
The trouble is people get disheartened by the green blob (and skill lag that accompanies it). vz are not invincible.
At primetime it is very even- the trouble is sfr and deso primetime is the same- but if each server could alter their primetime to give better coverage against vz that would alter the scores and attract more people into wvw
I have nothing against vz (in fact respect for such awesome server coverage) BUT something needs doing

IF a large gang is going round bullying other smaller gangs do you think the smaller gangs should fight each other – or join forces against the larger gang

BUT then it doesnt really matter (just seen next weeks (predicted) match ups)

I would like Anet to realize that a lot of us consider WvW as more than casual, and also to the FACT that more people play WvW than Spvp so PLEASE stop spending money, resources, and time on something that only a minority are interested in and concentrate more on WvW and make it possible for GvG on their own map.

An opportunity exists here to make a long standing name (and money) or to have players move onto something that has what they want (decent pvp/gvg).
Theres an old saying you cant please all the players all the time (but where do most players spend there time?)- (apart from cof)

OMG soooo funny but SADLY so very true.

This needs stickying and every anet (and ncsoft) employee to watch so they can (hopefully) understand.

Anyway i’m looking forward to wildstar with my own personal house with a personal raid portal and a warplot looks fun (and it looks like the company understand what PLAYERS want- unlike anet who think players want spvp (true spvp can only happen when all the professions are highly polished)

I know. The point is, vizuna is literally cleaning it’s kitten with deso and sfr x) That isn’t exactly fun, it’s a fight we can’t win (especially now that people got tired of fighting viz, while in viz there is SO many people they hardly get tired at all), we need a decent situation. Something that we can you know, actually fight.

Well I guess there is still one option left. Bore the enemy to death(just completely abandon WvW for the next month or something). Organizing existing people to not fight seems a lot easier than organizing non-existent people to fight. People in the lower tier attempting to do the same would only help the cause. Either they do something or they can deal with the PR of WvW being dead on a pile of servers.

I think this is better than asking ANet for help because this can be done NOW. ANet only seems willing to do things on a monthly cycle.

Action through inaction has a sort of weird appeal to me.

Without any action of Anet, this, as i see of it, is the only option you’d have to change the situation right now. Simply boycot WvW for 1-2 weeks, that should be enough to drop one tier …

We already tried that, it’s impossible to not score any points. And no matter how bad we do, whoever is in tier 2 will just score what they need to not move up. We paid for the game, we want to play the game. Not boycott it for two months so we can have fun again. This is the only way out of this that I can see as of now, untill another server does what is necessary in tier 2. But as I said, it is beyond our control. It shouldn’t be that way.

Have we? I guess the bigger guilds can just tell their own members about that but I don’t recall seeing anything about that in being mentioned in the WvW map chats. It shouldn’t be necessary to acquire absolutely no points, just not enough points.

I agree with the playing the game you paid for thing but I guess I can’t really empathize since I play more on the PvE side of things.

There is also the third option of Desolation and SFR combining to fight VS. The problem there is that there is nothing in game to make that work. Even if it does work I am not seeing a whole lot of benefit for either server.

If there exists a way to track how many people (from each server) are on each map then i propose this:
The points are calculated by the relationship between the server numbers.
Example:
red team have 10 players
blue team have 20 players
green team have 100 players (T1EU)
The lowest team is the base (in this case red)
The relationship between the two are: Blue 2X and Green 10X
working this into % we have a point reduction of 50% for blue and 90% (it can never be more than this) (this is calculated per tick)
The reasoning behind this as that no matter how much you are outnumbered the outnumbering server must hold more to get the same points.

This would also allow the servers with NOT MUCH COVERAGE to move up. (as long as they played well).
This then turns the meta into skill and tactics – NOT about numbers and time coverage.

There is certainly a way to track how many people from each server are on each map, that is how the game knows when you have to queue to get in. The scoring would be good if the only thing that mattered was the score but it isn’t. VS already has enough people to steamroll everything. Your proposed change just means Desolation and SFR would have an even harder time of getting rid of them.

No this would NEVER stop the zergs – BUT it might make the scoring system better- SO THAT for all there blobbing VZ would not automatically be top of T1 – OR EVEN IN T1 AT ALL.
It would also help with the blob shifting to other maps- if that meant a 90% reduction to everything on the map would the blob be so eager to wp for one keep?
TRUTH- SOME people get disheartened with the massive score difference and seeing all bl green

Seafarer and Desolation doesn´t have the wvw players that was playing when they entered tier1, vizunah still has alot of players. Vizunah has kept it´s playerbase and that´s awesome on their part, to have loyal people that doesn´t leave for various reasons, that can sustain a good coverage and manpower throughout the crisis they might or might not have had.

Desolation and Seafarers is NOT tier1 material anymore, it hasn´t been for a couple of weeks now (if not more) and I doubt that Vizunah are enjoying themselves without a proper fight.

There are still some players and guilds left in these two servers who wants to stay but who can say how much longer? There can still be fights on the borderlands on primetime, desolation and seafarers can still be top ppt but just look at the last 2 weeks end results, vizunah has atleast double the total amount of points. It´s stupid!

Its only stupid because of 24/7 coverage from vz while the other two can’t. IF you actually track the evolution income you will realise that at PRIMETIME it is a very 3way affair and not one sided- BUT it is the coverage outside of these times that is dictating some ludicrous scores

Same here, back to my staff guardian. I keep wondering why clones don’t pop up when I dodge.

I use the mesmer in PvE for my daily, but that’s about it for now.

Its a sad day when good players leave a game because of the developers.
Sadly LOTS of people are leaving gw2.
What WAS a brilliant concept has been ruined.
Its a shame that Anet have ruined what could have been a VERY good concept. I did like the look of eso but something has changed my mind (no law suits pls)- BUT wildstar is looking good (it didnt attract me at first- but after looking into it it looks FUN)

Siege Despawn Timer

Is there ANY possible way of creating the despawn timer to be relevant to the amount of people in the map? . . So if the map is full then everything is on a short timer but if there is only a couple of people then everything is on a long timer. – At least they have a chance of getting around the map to refresh.
I also agree that there should be different timers for different siege (if possible) with the offensive siege on a shorter timer than the defensive siege.

It’s all about the gems people, they want you to buy gems, leave this stupid game while you can. ESO, ESO…

How do gems have anything to do with this?
Eso will be subscription based. Anet have done an ingenious system with their server and downtime for patches. So with Eso expect to sub and have a half day downtime while they rebuild for patches. The alliances are already unbalanced (in beta). i’m not saying anet have got everything right (far from it) BUT eso is not going to be the game its cracked up to be. . . . So when you’ve paid for eso and paid for 6 months sub and realize how ‘bad’ it is then maybe you might understand what a gem of a FREE to PLAY game this is (AND this is NOT a Pay to Win game – like so MANY other free games).

Just want to give a quick cheers to VZ commander Mechamilk.7809 of [OWTL] for taking the initiative and trying to arrange a server versus server on EB around 30 minutes ago!

I know the other commander was screwing with you guys, but we had wildcards too, so it’s no problem. The bloody mess was good fun anyway!

Was great fun.
Just a SHAME people had to build siege and even more SHAME people used them.
BUT considering BOTH groups were pugs and the ‘fight’ was arranged within a few minutes it was good going.
Its RESTORED my belief of WvW- Sure Anet cant get it right,they keep things broken, and break what isn’t broken. . . . . . BUT the COMMUNITY made something FUN from it.
So once again a big thankyou to OWTL and EXG and all the PUGs from both VZ and Deso that made it enjoyable at speld then mole

. . . Oh its a travel point in an UPGRADED keep.
So the server that can keep its keeps and upgrade them, gets to wp when under attack.
This is normally the ‘winning’ server
An unbalanced CASUAL aspect of GW2 (WvW) will now be even more unbalanced

So after the 50% reduction to Confusion AND retaliation (Both skills being relied upon by a staff condition mesmer), i would like to propose a change to staff#1 (winds of chaos) and make the invul into poison.
Also F2 would be a random condition (bleed/burn/poison/confusion) for Each illusion shattered.

^^ exactly this we can apply a small amount of bleed and burn as condition (including the infamous confusion). sadly its not enough to make a reliable condition damage build, But if they swapped invul for poison then i think it would work
