As to the nerf bat i think that only ele and mesmer seem to get the nerf bat (thief slightly but thief is getting xtras).
The other professions are seen as broken in some way and so are getting looked at in a POSITIVE way. Wait till the patch notes (and read all the previous patch notes) and you will understand.

I suppose the point i am trying to say is that although we might be seen to be in a good position now (we were better 3 months ago) and who knows how the profession will be in 3 months time.
But if they care MORE about new players than existing players then you can only ‘assume’ that more nerfs will be incoming in the future
should of made it so that multiple mesmers do not stack confusion on a target (just have it so x stacks get overwritten with the new confusion). This solves the multiple mesmer zerg busting squad.
When you suffer from confusion your whole screen changes in a very visual and drastic way (as in a daze) so that new players are aware that they are confused. This solves the l2p with new players

Seriously i would wait till the patch notes hit (and maybe even a few more days after that) before committing yourself (unless you dont mind deleting IF you make the wrong choice). If the nerf hits as suspected it could well make half our weapons unviable which obviously will give less choice (but if you dont mind playing the same build with no variation then that will not matter). (I personally enjoyed (PAST tense) playing a confusion spec one minute and swapping out to a power build the next).
Mesmers do seem to be ‘needed’ more for dungeon speed runs.
As for looks it doesnt matter the profession. race and sex determine that. Just because you have a necro doesnt mean you cant dress sexy (and in bright colours!)
There is going to be a new condition solely for necros so who knows what will happen?
All i know is a lot of our bugs (from launch) have not been fixed.
They seem to create more ‘problems’ when they ‘fix’ bugs.
We suffer from nerf after nerf because (quite simply) some people (especially new players) dont know how to deal with us and our illusions (cant spot the real mesmer).
mesmer has a lot going fot it, BUT not as much as 3 months ago, and who knows how it will be in 3 months time
I personally think anet dont give a hoot about wvw as in their eyes its only ‘casual’. Instead they let the community sort it out by transferring (and i would expect some real money to be involved with this). 9 months the game has been released- so much promise and potential at the beginning, shame its an epic fail now
EDIT: Vz only win due to superior numbers when the other servers are off peak and also the FACT that they map hop. CHANGE THIS. remove wp from all maps. Once you enter a wvw map you CANNOT TRANSFER to another map for 2hours. It wont stop them from map hopping but at least when they do they will be stuck on a map for 2 hours
EDIT EDIT: even if deso and sfr combined forces it still wouldn’t be enough because of the TIME coverage – at peak times its very balanced. but vz only win due to their better 24/7 coverage

agreed that a 50% damage reduction to one of our profession skills (F2) is hurtful. To keep in line with the chaotic nature of this profession i feel f2 shatter should be a random condition (bleed/burn/poison(chill?)) for each clone shattered. change the vul on woc to poison (or even chill). and finally change the torch phantasm to do some other condi damage (burn?). At least a condi spec MIGHT still be viable with these (simple?) changes
^^ exactly this. people complain about confusion as if it suddenly and without warning magically affected them. and even if you are silly enough to get lots of stacks of confusion you have a chance to even stop that from damaging you. There are more ways to stop 3k of confusion damage than 7k of heartseeker from stealth (that NO – ONE can detect). or how about the 18k killshot that will now be unblockable.
EDIT: and all it takes is a dagger and any stealth skill (they have many), or take a rifle still leaves plenty of options for what else to take
confusion was a counter to the bunker builds (at least thats what i found)

How much added content (and content that has not even been done yet) should of been included at release?
i left it four months after launch before i went down the confusion mesmer path. (Believing that if any SIGNIFICANT changes were to be made, then they would make them within this time. . . . NOT NINE months after launch).
I know its only a game and a waste of time- but let ME waste my OWN time, i DO NOT appreciate someone else wasting my time. Anyway, thankyou, you have given me the incentive to look at other games (which i have not done in the last 9 months- you had me that hooked). Wildstar looks unusually interesting (perhaps that’s Ncsofts plan? players leaving gw2= more sales of other games). So a big thankyou for an enjoyable 9 months i did think this the ‘jewel in the crown’ but now i will just think of it as ‘something i stepped in whilst walking through a field of bulls’.
If they had allowed any dungeon gear to be reverted back to tokens and ascended back to laurels/exchanged then it wouldn’t seem such a WASTE OF TIME.
So if NEW abilities are being added to wxp does that mean we can retrain any skills we might already have got? or was i foolish to spend the points? (as i was foolish enough to grind out rabid gear for my confusion mesmer?)
of course confusion was intended to be. why else put it on f2 shatter?
IN the SotG interview they mentioned confusion and retaliation and mention NEW PLAYERS. makes me sick that all that time (8 months for casuals) acquiring gear for a specific purpose has now been made WORTHLESS.

Thankyou to Devs for listening to new players more than the seasoned vets- way to go to keep your player base. As we speak i am downloading my old mmo client and eagererly looking forward to the 2013 releases.

This is meant to be a game played for fun. The trouble is that some people do not find the current system fun, so i think we should work together as a GW2 community to try to make a ‘silk purse out of a sows ear’.
GW2 LFG was created because the LFG tool within the game is . . . . (I can’t think of a word that will not get me an infraction!!). They have not made the lfg tool within the game better (is this because GW2LFG exists??). So my concern is that if a GvG website is formed, Anet will give GvG the same attention as LFG.
. . . . . . .BUT if we look at what Anet are working on, and what they will spend time and resources on we find SPECTATOR SPORT is high on their list.
. .. . So all we have to do is make GvG a spectator sport and perhaps (just maybe) Anet will spend the resources to make it possible.

TEAMS: TWO opposing teams(Guilds/alliances) and ONE spectator team.
DETAILS:

A guild can ‘rent’ (gems/influence) an allotted amount of time on one map.
This is where i believe there needs to be lots of variables- to make it more interesting:
The guild that rented the map can have the opposing team as invite only or open.
They can also set the parameters: Victory conditions (points or kills etc), removal of all guards, allowance (and effectiveness) of siege, quaggon events dis/abled, removal of trash monsters (and whatever else, anyone can think of).
The SPECTATORS: Obviously they would have all skills/traits disabled. They would have to be immune to damage. They would also need a perm speed increase. It would help if they had an easily identifiable graphic model to show they are a spectator and not ‘enemy’. They would also have to be able to enter keeps/towers (to watch any battles within)
The two opposing teams would spawn at the bottom of the map with the citadel and home keep (garrison)being the spawn (keep wp) for the spectators. Neither team can damage this spectator keep.
Guild leaders (or those with permissions) can set what priority is given to guild members for entry to map. (ie based on rank so leaders/officers are given priority)
Mapchat is viewable by everyone (teams can communicate via guildchat or comms), this allows for better communication between opposing teams so battles/skirmishes/set pieces can be initiated.

I’ve been away from wvw (and forum) for a few days, What a Surprise to start reading the latest threads. (started by the vz chieftain (/bows with respect)).
VZ,SFR, and Deso are in the TOP tier for europe but if you read this topic from the start you wouldn’t think that, with all the bashing and troll dung throwing. 20 points in virtues: IX absolute resolution : It does not proc confusion when used. Personally i tend to save and use light a light field+ WW for condi removal (when fighting condi types) instead of for the damage aspect.
As for equipping a condi removal as utility- if you need to, then do it.
Dredge and confusion? sounds like EB
yep pve open world zerker will do you best (as long as you know how to dodge). For dungeons i normally swap out a few bits for knights/clerics to help with the boss hits
I’d go so far as to say: quantity= NO quality
WvW is server vs server – bad idea, it just promotes time zone capping. Far better to have done Server v Itself that way any population would have a CHANCE of splitting between the 3 sides (orders). But then maybe not as most just seem to want to blob with skill lag and not have fun (But i expect some people will say they enjoy blobbing (and pressing 1 on the keyboard))
sfr taking a break(it seems the PUG groups are doing lots better than the organized guilds – With a lot less moaning)
Even worse cos its a video game (played for fun?) but you cant cos half the people dont turn up – yep sounds great fun
The Invasion is planned. the masses of troops are gathered. . .But the invasion is cancelled because two tank drivers are ill (the unit cant operate without them!!)- Do you realize how kittening silly that is. Yet that is the sf excuse. Do you really think REAL wars are like this? Of course not. The ability to adjust to the situation at that moment is crucial. IF your expecting 30 of your guild to show up in wvw but only 15 make it, then a good leader would be able to use those 15 in the best way possible- not say *cancelled due to not enough players"
Personally i’ve found that the vz zerg mostly leaves me alone (as a solo roamer) on their way to an objective (even a couple of 1 vs 1 invites) yet most of the sfr guilds i’ve encountered just see me as a loot bag.
OH and the guild parties that love to 5 vs 1 on soloers (who never accept a 1 v 1 invite) you might wanna turn your guild tag off- cos its nothing to be proud of – especially when you run when it turns into a 5 v 10. Perhaps these guilds are the ones that jumped to sfr with the free transfer

I used to use sword/x (condi build with staff)- tried scepter found i missed sword#2 too much (esp with stealth attacks by thieves) for solo/small scale. BUT for Zergs its completely different story
AND Yes the #1 attack is as broken as guardian scepter- you can dodge by mini strafing. This is the main reason i stopped using it- against skilled players it is worthless

Changing something like confusion, or glamour builds is not a straight up WvW aspect. It’s in the hands of the class balance guy

PLEASE fix this.
MAYBE the EASIEST way is just to do “invisible” skins for our offhand weapons, So that it looks like WE have nothing in our off hand.
They say they want build diversity yet mesmers are FORCED to use a focus (small skin) so that they do not give themselves away so easily.

AS has been said before – Use the 3 orders (priory,vigil and shadows) have them fight on EACH server- that way each server must fight itself- for the honour of the order. This was created by the orders as a training ground for the defeat of the dragons. Reward the winning team with xp/karma/mf/g/wxp bonuses. This would also tie in the personal storyline so it would make a difference what order they joined as it would affect which side they were in wvw.
Yes we are working together in the same teamspeak server. Because we speak english and they speak french we are using chinese to get along better!

You get a 1g reduction every time you successfully take/defend a structure against a greater numbered force.
I agree.Fighting the same server over and over again will sooner or later end up in huge drama.if we are luck we will get 3 servers hating each other and fighting each other nonstop, while trolling them with whispers and gestures ….if you are unlucky u will face a constant 2v1(that is based on what has been said in the forums)for week after week after week.
My tier atm is balanced, but i would love to fight a few new servers as i am getting tired of the same guilds over and over and over and over and over and over again.Some people simply don’t wanna play until matchup changes.

THIS is where Anet made the mistake : SERVER Vs SERVER (sounds good but in practice things are getting slightly out of control (Especially EU where some servers are nation based)- Anyone would think Anet wanted to start a war)
THERE already existed within the game the element to create three ‘sides’ : The Vigil, Priory, and order of shadows and the battle of these 3, to be fought within each server.
NO more server animosity (sure there might still exist animosity within a server- but it WILL be friendlier)
There will be less Capping because of population time differences
More chance for GvG and G vs itself
As has been said in other posts i think:
If you win the tier you move up one
If you lose the tier you move down one,
It seems that some servers get better coverage during certain hours/days/weeks
The current system is wrong- it takes too long to make any difference many players realise this- BUT if it was a per week basis it would be more INCENTIVE to Play Now
Confusion is fine, you just have to practice more that’s all, it’s easy to deal with. I have a Mesmer, used to run confusion staff/scepter+focus build, but now staff/sword+focus hybrid shatter.
Confusion doesn’t have any direct impact on my current build of my mesmer. Just saying that before I get accused of protecting my build. Anyway, people complain about many things. Confusion is not that hard to deal with. I can handle confusion mesmers easily with my Guardian because I can outheal their confusion, #3 scepter skill is stupidly easy to dodge, as well as their confusion shatters. With my guardian’s dual sigil of energy, plus a vigor trait, I’m literally a dodging machine with tons of healing and 100% up on retal. So this means, that confusion you’re afraid of, won’t even dent me, and even if I make a mistake and it does eat a chunk of my HP, my HP goes right back up in a single dodge or two, while his H kitten lowly depleting on constant rate and last time I checked mesmer heals are on a 15-20 second interval. Confusion is not OP, I laugh at confusion when I’m on my guardian. Playing smart help a lot…which means not running through the bubbles and picking your shots…mesmers have little to no CC…that means you are free to create distance and not be mesmerized by their multitude of clones and combos
Stop complaining…and practice. Stop asking the game to adjust to your learning curve, as I’ve been owned a lot of times when my mesmer was still confusion, so there are a LOT of players who knows how to deal with it. Peace.

FOR a mesmer to do SERIOUS DAMAGE with Confusion they must be specc’d/equipped for it- LIMITING OTHER OPTIONS- Have u ever tried to condition damage any siege/doors?? – IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!
There is NO Condition/tough/vit (unlike power/tough/vit) which means the mesmer is lacking in some form of defence if they have gone all out condition
You seem to be blaming/Questioning how OP a skill is – WHEN MAYBE its your OWN skill that should be questioned. Seriously become a better player and you will laugh at confusion mesmers- BECAUSE you will know how to fight them;
Next it will be how OP [Feedback] is because people kill themselves by pew pewing (and YES i have killed a couple of rangers by just using feedback)

Also the points should be reworked and Awarded EVERY MINUTE (maybe update the scores every 15 min still). The Reason why is that so many objectives get taken in the LAST 5 mins of a tick because they know it can be abandoned and still be safe for the point tick.

The OP used an example of 3v3, i will use my personal experience of 1 vs many (3/4/5), at the moment i find it VERY difficult to kill Just ONE, yet i find it surprisingly easy to put ONE in a downed state, BUT they DON’T DIE. If i put a person in a downed state before all of them do it to me, then that person Deserves to Die – and thus they will need more rezzing. (It DOESN’T take long to Heal someone in a Downed state)
Removing Downed state would give the advantage to the Better Players and not those that had More Numbers.I assume this poster plays a high DPS burst class similar to mine. I disagree absolutely though.
If downed state was removed, their would be zero need for any other classes other than the “best” burst dps.
I/we could just insta kill, and move on. Being able to 1/3 shot kill players does not and would not make me/them the “better” player.
I feel downed state skills could be looked at but downed state definitely needs to stay.
i play burst and condi- The point with ANY burst build is that the damage can be avoided/negated – it is after all a BURST build. I also did not say i beat everyone – i’ve lost a lot of 1 vs 1 but this is where the SKILL comes in.
I have respect when i am beaten – not when they die and get rezzed by their mates only to /laugh over my dead body. Anet did not MAKE people do that- its only the persons mentality that does.
Both are as useful as each other – but for different reasons

They are not stopping you doing any content – They are just putting a Diminished Reward system in place- EXACTLY like dungeons.
If you are that hardcore then you will do ALL the content for extra Baubles not Just speed runs for Bauble Baubles.
121 BB (at full runs) is 8 runs per day – you don’t say how many character slots you have.
If you have less than 8 slots then obviously you have gained more than someone who has paid for extra character slots

Maybe still have a score system and have leader boards for servers – but this will not affect match ups.
So you would have match ups based on a week by week win/lose situation and a leaderboard to show the servers on a time based system.

If the SAB was only available for a week i could understand why people might want to delete/create to gain BB.
BUT SAB is available for a month. . .
.. . . . . . . . . So thats (min) 5 character(slots) x 30 days = 150 “runs”, min 6 BB per run = 900 BB in the month. . Thats the equivalent to 18 skins OR 900 Shards- Surely thats enough WITHOUT resorting to “working around” the DEVS restrictions.
Also Josh has said that the BB should have awarded per the work done per zone (SO he’s not entirely happy about speed farming (Thats how i interpreted his post)),
