I’m not sure it is a failure at all. HoT added a lot of things that are pretty decent.

#1: Harder enemies. I’ve been wanting that for awhile.
#2: Elaborate maps and more involved maps. Always a good thing.
#3: A metroid style of progression where you gain the ability to explore new areas.
#4: The elite specializations are awesome (if a bit power-creepy), and I like playing as most of them.
#5: A large series of collections and achievements for completionists.
#6: Some pretty cool looking skins.
#7: Events that are actually fun to do.

So, I like the xpac, and from what I’ve heard it has sold really well, so I wonder what your standard of failure is.

They released HoT, completely broke WvW, made everyone angry and went dead silent. Not a single word. Of course they posted in every other forum – including pointless troll threads – arranged sPvP tournaments and released tons of patches. It was only some weeks ago that they finally said something about WvW, a vague promise that sometime in the future they might do stuff. WvW is still broken btw, theres more bugs than ever that essentially brings the game back to beta stage. They admit none of these bugs. Well except the walls thats been fixed multiple times (they are still bugged).

So Anet being “quiet” here on the general forum is just lol.

There is a couple of people complaining, the rest of us, the majority of the community, really enjoy HoT and Everything it came with… Those of you who don’t like it, is a very small minority of way too loud trolls…

I wouldn’t mind it that much if they put new skins achievable via actually playing the freaking game on regular basis, not once in 6 months. And by playing the game I don’t mean Silverwastes-esque grind. They have the collections system so how about they use it. Freaking SWTOR has much better game shop system than GW2, because you can actually earn your currency by playing the game.

It’s increasingly hard to look forward to things in this game. Every cool looking item is locked either behind gemstore or ridiculous gold wall/grind. With amount of gold/stuff you need for Nightfury it should be legendary quality item.

i really like the new content (so far)…..earning mastery levels/points and hero points in the new area isn’t just a given like in the base game….it is a reward for being a semi-competent player. it feels the exact opposite of a grind…its the exact opposite of mindless repetition.

The problem is that the content is pretty much garbage even without the grind. I’ve played my share of MMOs and I’ve never seen an expansion this bad.

Yes, grinding hero points and grinding in general is surely challenging content. My God you Arenadrones will defend anything.

I really really doubt it has enough content for 1000 hours.

But you can just buy gold for gems and then buy whatever you want from TP, just as intended

It’s an event for new players, and the rewards are bugged. They were pretty clear in the blogpost that players level 18 could participate, so I’m not sure why 80s thought it would be challenging.

The reward bug is crappy for sure, though.

It’s an event for new players and you have to pay 10 gold for skins. I doubt many new players have enough money to buy even one of them. Remove the gold cost, increase the blossom cost and give 10 – 15 blossoms per stack.

If you have to work 8 hours to make 80 gold in a game, you may as well move to China and join the gold farmers…

Even at UK minimum wage, you could earn £60 in that time and buy around 6000 gems, convert those to gold..or just work a couple hours then go play something you enjoy rather than grinding out some pixels.

Do you have the Wings of the Sunless? Those are bat like. (It was a Living Story meta event reward, so unavailable if you didn’t do it).

I do have them but they are too small and have pretty ugly colours…I was thinking something like those black angel wings from gem store, just that they would be bat wings

Absolutely NOT ! I have 9,3k hours played! I, just as people like me, DESERVE to have something which will show how long we,ve been playing ! There are very few items that show since when are we in the game … that’s also why I’m against Bunny Ears being added back to gemstore.
Only achievements showing that is not enough, people don’t see them unless they party with you or add you to friends.

I’m not going to play ele/tempest simply because all previous specs feel unique, only tempest feels like ele on steroids.

There should be some factions you can unlock through masteries, they will offer skins. Wouldn’t hold my hopes high for more that 3 skins per armor class, tho.

The bigger issue in my opinion is how many weapon skins will be in the x-pac for our characters to go out and earn through game play. We are paying for a product that should include as many skins as the base game for the price we are paying. It won’t surprise me in the slightest if there is a lack of new weapon skins in the game or armor sets. It won’t surprise me if there aren’t any new kitten Cultural type sets that we can earn. It also won’t surprise me to see myriad options of these types of things on the gem shop on week #1 of release of HoT. Double dipping at its finest.

How many of those factions of which reputation you can grind through masteries are there…three? That’s it, you’ll get 3 new armor sets per armor class + new weapon skins for legendaries, maybe some new ascended stuff.

This is not even funny at this point. Especially since half of the content which is supposed to sell HoT could be just patched in in regular updates.

I think warrior will get torch and will have some sort of weapon enhancement (fiery weapons?) and will get burning condition.

a) has even less content than Warlords of Draenor, and that expansion is being constantly kitten on for having nothing to do. But then again, you drones had nothing to do for 3 years and you call it “fun”.

c) uses terms like “challenging group content” without further clarification.

No. There is already plenty solo content in GW2, you don’t need to get rid of dedicated group content to create more of it.

It won’t limit devs as there won’t be any future dungeons. The dungeon team was disbanded ages ago and HoT doesn’t have dungeons.

Everyone is assuming that rifle thief will be sniper….but what if it will be something like commando? Shouts would make a lot of sense in that scenario.

Thats bound to happen in any MMO, even if there is end game. Seems to be most peoples issue. They are bored and wanting something more to do. The game isn’t perfect but it is one of the top MMO options out there (IMO).

There is an expansion on the way, and hopefully it will be here this summer. Imagine having to wait over an entire year without any new content or even patch for that matter, while paying money every month (I’m looking at you Blizzard).

what’s the difference? You are waiting 2 years without any meaningful content for an expansion which brings only same old kitten.
