Questions about basic Ascended Infusion

in Players Helping Players

Walker.7204

So, I’m starting to accumulate a good selection of ascended items for my characters (mainly due to my years of hoarding laurels and finally starting to do LS3 areas), but I’m a bit unsure of how to go about infusing them and what to put in.

While, currently I don’t really do any fractals, I would like to have my gear ready for it when I start, so I know I’ll need AR for this. First off, what items can be infused with AR, and how much do I need?

Do you get the AR off of the market (or craft since I have 500 art)?

For my other items, Do I just get them infused with similar stats to what I already have (most of my items are either zerker or viper) and where do I get this done?

I’ve also heard about getting an additional slot added to some of the items and i’m a bit confused about this.

Thanks for any help and or a point in the right direction.

Best PvP/Raid/WvW Class?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Walker.7204

Walker.7204

So, the topic may be a bit misleading, but it seems like I always get an error message for too many characters in my title, so I just kept it as short as possible.

I’ve been playing the game off and on for years, and have all professions at 80 (and crafts maxed), but i’ve never really concentrated on a single one, and so i’m not really that good at any class.

With this past weekend’s demo, I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed pvp, and that’s a whole lot of content/achiev/rewards that i’ve completely ignored.

With that said, I would like to concentrate on a single class for a single purpose, and I would like some recommendations for not necessarily the “best”, but a good, solid class for each one that would be group beneficial and not too impossible to be good at.

PvP?

Raids?

Fractals?

WvW?

I realize any class can be good at any one of these if done properly, but I just wanted to simplify things a bit.

Thanks for any help and for reading through my rambling questions while I’m stuck at work.

Worth completing LS2 and 3 for gems?

are there only certain chapters of ls3 that are useful, or do you really need the whole thing?

I’ve heard lots of people mention farming the Ice chapter (3 I think), and that is one of the 3 that I have.

Walker.7204

So, I’ve been back a few weeks now, and I found a good way to get used to some of my characters again was to go back and finish off all the story missions I had missed out on before. I’m also in need of tyria masteries so this was an easy way.

Going through LS2, I’ve finished 5/8, but the other 3 are locked away, and would cost 400 gems to unlock. Since I’m not exactly hooked on the story aspect of everything so much, this seems like a lot for just 3 or possibly 6 more MP.

I havn’t started LS3 yet, but I have 3/6 chapters unlocked. I can unlock the rest of these for like 380, and it seems like there’s alot more content and stuff to do in these compared to ls2.

Are either of these really worth the gems/gold to unlock?

I have HoT and am working my way through that storyline, but I havn’t started LS3 ( I think I have like 3/5 chapters unlocked), so I guess that explains my lack of unbound magic.

I was looking to buy some perma gathering tools from the store, and I noticed the limited time “Infinite Unbound Gathering Tools”, and I was a bit confused by the “unbound magic gatherer” aspect of these tools.

What exactly is unbound magic used for? Where else can you get it from?

Is this a good package to pick up for 2700 gems?

Help crafting my first Asc armor set

While I was hoping for some general all purpose option, it almost seems like I should just avoid ascended armor and just pick up the best exotic for each class that is best for whatever playstyle I’m going for.

Btw…thx for the Gw2eff tip…. I’m registered for that, but I always forget to use it, and it can do so many things.

Help crafting my first Asc armor set

Walker.7204

I’m recently back and really enjoying the game again, and before PoF gets here, I’d really like to craft a set of ascended gear. I have all crafts to 500 and have a character for each class.

In the past, I crafted an ascended GS and Staff (berserker mode, but forget exact title), and really enjoyed being able to transfer them between characters for whichever I was concentrating on atm.

Now, I’d like to give crafting an asc armor set a go, but its been awhile, and I’m not sure if things have changed at all, or what set I should go for.

I think I’d like to start with a light armor set, since I really enjoy my mes, necro, and Ele.
However, I’m not really sure which set would be best for a basically all-porpose, PVE, Surviveability type mode.

In the past, I followed dulfy’s guide for crafting asc weapons, but not sure if its still accurate.

I would love some tips on what set to go for, if there’s any items that I’m better off just buying than crafting, and generally anything helpful to keep me from making any big mistakes.

Thanks

Warrior was my first class, and I’ve logged more hours with it than any other class, but I really don’t enjoy playing it.

I mostly blame the gs… it always seemed too good not to use, but the abilities are just boring to me.

I’m newly back to the game and would love a fast, fun build (I have HoT and zerker maxed, but it seems that’s not that great anymore) for pve, story completion, and survivability.

Thanks for any help and a point in the right direction.

Sorry, I’m newly back and I know there is prob a simple answer to this, but I can’t find it.

My Exp bar is capped at 3175000/317500 in Tyria. Do I need to spend mastery points in Tyria before it uncaps?

I have HoT, and have completed partial story for every character. I have around 30 Mastery points.

Walker.7204

I’m newly back to the game, and am looking on concentrating of a few jobs instead of trying to tackle all of them this time around.

I really like my ranger, and I’d like to focus on it for mainly exploration, finishing my map completion, and story completion.

I’m looking for mainly speed and surviveability and being able to take on most hero points on my own if possible.

I do have HoT, and my druid is almost finished (need about 20 more hp). Currently, I’m equipped in exotic berserker gear and I have an ascended GS and Staff, but can easily craft or buy other gear if needed.

While just a link to a build would be great, I’d also like something with a bit more description and guide like since I’m still a bit rusty.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Current PVE build guides?

Thank you for the tips. I think for pure suviveability, I’m going to focus on a Condireaper and my Druid Ranger.

I’ve got a good idea for how to go about my Nec, and now to find something good for my druid.

Also tempted to start working on another ascended weapon, prob a staff. My first was for my War, but sadly I just hate playing that class.

Current PVE build guides?

Walker.7204

So, I’m trying to get back into the game to decide if buying PoF is for me, and my usual MO when I return to the game is doing dailies and world bosses with each character (I have all geared up at 80), and I usually find myself running around and worrying about gold and inventory more than just enjoying the game and getting good at any one profession.

Whoa…big first sentence.

This time around I would like to pick 1 or 2 characters to really concentrate on and finish up my world completion and HoT masteries. Basically I"m looking for a roaming PVE survival build that’s also somewhat enjoyable.

I mention enjoyable because my “main” most accomplished character is a warrior with almost 85% completion, but I really just find no joy in playing the job.

I know there are lots of threads like this and people recommend a build by the title…. like “the Reaper CondiMinionMaster destroys everything”, but then I find myself looking through pages and pages of old outdated threads, or just finding the specs without much of an explanation.

I really liked how dulfy used to have really detailed guides on the professions, but most of them havn’t been updated in years.

Lots of people link builds to the MetaWiki (forget the exact name) site, and I’d like to browse through those, but I’m not exactly sure where a straight PVE type build fits into there categorization of Conquest, WvW, Fractal, and Raid.

To sum all of this rambling up for you…. I’m basically looking for a big yellow and black book titled " (Insert build here) for Dummies!"

Thanks for any and all help.

Lots of great ideas, and thanks for all of the responses. I feel like I spend all my time juggling the characters I have so more is always more daunting.

However, the $79 pack is tempting with the gems thrown in there and all the other stuff. It’s alot easier to justify the cost when you’re not already throwing out $15/mo.

So, I’ve been away for a bit, but a new computer and the expansion has me back and I just had a few questions.

I noticed with the deluxe versions of the expansion they are giving an additional character slot (as well as the max boost, which I think comes with all), but I was just curious why and if there was a new profession coming out anytime soon?

If not, just curious how many of you have multiple characters with the same profession and why?

Do you just love a certain class, and also like trying it with different races?

With the elite specs, do you find that there are so many diff setups for each profession, that they are basically multiple jobs under one heading that play totally different?

Like I said, I’ve been away for awhile, and I was just curious as someone who has all classes maxed out at 80 how best to utilize another character slot.

Thank

There’s lots of these returning player topics on the board, and rather than start another one, I just thought I’d hop on this one.

I’m also back after a long layoff (stopped playing shortly after HoT), and I’m just curious about the best way to start up the game again.

I have all the jobs at 80, but I’ve completely forgotten how to play them. What would you recommend doing to get the feel and relearn the game again?

Should I just pick one class and focus on that, or just bounce around a bit?

Movement Speed options for each profession?

Walker.7204

After a bit of a break, I’m back and really enjoying HoT and the rest of the game again. As mainly a PVE and WvW player, I have a character with each of the professions in the game, so I’m not really an expert at any of them. And with the new elite categories, I’m really behind now.

One thing I’m addicted to, in exploration mode, is any method of enhanced movement speed. And while I know of some options for most classes, I’m not sure if I know all of them or the best way to go about it.

So, I was looking for a list of the weapons and/or traits that give the best movement speed options for each class.

I’ve built all of my previous pc’s, and while I’m not a serious tech guy, I’m really good at finding the best directions and guides and following them. Just looking for any suggestions and specific things I should look for when building a PC for a Big Screen vs. a normal build.

A few more questions after a week with HoT

Walker.7204

So thanks to all of the help when I first checked back into the game last week, and I’ve now gotten alot of the feel and excitement that I originally had with the game back. I’m not too deep into HoT yet, but I"m really liking the Revenant class.

One thing I underestimated is how many Hero points I would need for my old jobs to get full elite status. In some older posts it says you need 400 points? Is that right, or has it changed at all? 400 seems sooo far away from most of my classes that only have 20 or so HP into elite skill.

I like how the mastery system is setup with all of the characters sharing exp (and only wish it was that way with heropoints). I’ve been trying to take all of my 9 lv. 80’s through the beginning of HoT just to get them to maguuma and it seems like pretty good exp. Should I keep progressing through the story with each character to get my masteries faster?

Is WvW still a good way to go about getting hero points, or should I just try to find the best zerg in HoT.

I’m a bit lacking in the guild department also. With the megaservers now, does it matter if I select a guild from a different server? I’m thinking a larger guild with organized wvw runs and HoT groups would probably be the best for me right now since I’m so lacking in the Hero point and mastery levels. Any recommendations?

Thanks again for any help and or advice.

A few quick questions before I buy the HoT

Walker.7204

So… got home, got HoT, and started updating my characters, and I was quite surprised how many HP it takes to fill out the elite specilization. Honestly, I’m kind of glad, because it would be kind of dumb to have an expansion in which you had already maxxed out the new content. In my War, Temp, and Rng, I have a good bit of elite filled up, but in my lesser 80’s thf and necro, I barely have enough to even start the Elite.

I’m guessing its not really worth trying to play the new elite until I have the majority of the new traits unlocked. And thanks for all of the leveling suggestions.

A few quick questions before I buy the HoT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Walker.7204

Walker.7204

So with all the great advice, here’s my plan….

Buy the Ultimate Expansion and the 5 slot shared inventory, and grab a few items i’ve passed on in the past because they were for 1 character only like watchwork pick and copper-0-matic.

Fill out my existing 8 characters at 80 with their skill points to fully complete the Core specs and come close to filling out their elite specs, and set them up for their specific elite class. And use my new character slot for a shiny new asuran revenant (or my default hot blonde giant norn).

Then i’ll try out the new elites in the basic new content and trying to get my gliding masteries, along with doing the usual rotation of bosses and some WvW.

My remaining question is about the Mega-Booster. At first I thought it just put you at 80, but now I think I’ve read it also gives you a full set of really good gear. Does it also give you enough hero points to unlock but not fill your elite ?

In my inventory, I’ve got tons of level boosters and exp scrolls ( back in the day I was addicted to some of the events with good rewards) that I think would take a new character pretty close to 80 without the boost. If this is the case, should I do that with the Rev, and then hold on to the Mega boost til I decide which class I really want to jump into.

Thanks for making your way through the wall of text…. Soon I’ll be home and can put these plans into action.

Walker.7204

Couple of more things….

I assume world completion is still tied to a single character and not account (I’m just hoping here)?

In the past i’ve sort of been bogged down by trying to play all 8 jobs, and I’ve never really gotten great at any particular one. With the new job and all of the new Elite specializations, I’d really like to pick one and really just master the heck out of it. So what are some good recommendations for a strong all around, fun new class?

And finally, how exactly do you start in HoT? Just go to the first area? or does it lead you once it’s loaded?

Thanks again for all of your help.

So, after being gone for a year or so, I just started back and things are crazy different….lol.
Previously, I had all jobs at 80, but now I just had a few questions since they’ve been respec’d with the hero points.

Do I need to completely fill out my skills and specialization training before I’m able to add anything to Elite Specialization (I realize i’ll have to have HoT)?

Since I need an extra job spot for the new Revenant and I love the new shared inventory spaces, I’m thinking the Ultimate edition is the way to go…. any reason not to?

Thanks for any help and or suggestions.
