I saw this thread during my lunch break at work today (patch came out while I was at work) and made a note to check when I got home. My Cultivated Seed was in my bank and was replaced with the Pet Seed. I completed the Mysterious Vine backpack on the 7th day of Dragon’s Reach Part 1. As you can see in the screenshot, the seed swap happened before I even started DR Part 2 (green star above my map).
In the low levels of my Charr Range, I found condition damage to be useful against those pesky skales to counter their regeneration. For everything else, power and precision were usually more effective.
Like all mini pets, it’s not consumed on use. You can use it however many times you like, with no time limit.
That vine looks pretty pale to me, ignoring the purple glow. I would not be surprised at all if they made a connection to the Pale Tree and Mordremoth.
Actually, the items say to double click them to find out more. If you do, it shows you where on the map to take them to charge them. After that, the Mystic Forge recipes are on the item tooltip. I see nothing wrong with how this was done. All you need to do is use your brain.
It’s a ploy to sell more Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matics. Want to save geodes but not lose your place in the map? Buy gems.
Ridiculous conspiracy theories aside, I think someone just picked an arbitrary number of geodes for the price, not realizing how valuable they are to the player. Sure you get almost that many geodes from 1 event during the sandstorm, but there’s enough loot going around to eat half your geodes if you buy salvage kits with them.
ANet’s idea is that the game was able to evolve with time, and have significant changes in its environment. what you’re asking is for them to go back on one of the founding pillars of GW2, and instead stick to a static world, where the only visible changes are instanced. i really don’t see it happening.
for better or for worse, it’s kind of implied in the story journal that the game takes place in the “present” (which is as of writing 1327 AE), and the personal story takes place in the past (1325 AE). if anything, it gives players an idea of what has been, and how much has changed since.
I think he means keep the personal story the same despite the open world changes.
…it is?
the personal story instances, to the best of my knowledge, take place in the “old” versions of those maps. the pathfinding rework alone that would be required to retrofit personal story every time lion’s arch is changed (counting festivals, there have been 6 different versions of it so far, excluding minor changes) is enough to keep personal story “static” and stuck in the past.
It would make sense for the personal story instances to take place in the old versions of the maps, but they don’t. If you did the initial Destiny’s Edge meeting mission in Lion’s Arch during the invasion, you would have DE meeting an a destroyed city with children playing in the miasma. It’s completely immersion breaking and should be fixed like the OP has stated.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned anything on the mechanics side of things. Those new enemies are really nice. Wolves that do ridiculous damage while flanking and those flying flower thingies that don’t take much damage from the front are nice touches to make positioning in combat more relevant. And those husks… first time I’ve been forced to switch weapons in a while. They take less than half damage from direct damage, but melt to conditions. Definitely a step in the right direction if Arenanet wants to break the Zerker meta.
Have it so that when you add a sigil, it is added to a library of sigils on the legendary weapon.
This is a great idea. Some people complain about legendary weapons not being that extraordinary, and the ability to swap sigils an a whim in addition to the stats would certainly change the opinion of some. For the rest of us, it would be a much better alternative to running with mismatched stats/sigils or having to buy new sigils (or upgrade removers) every time we change stats.
I think a better system would be for a kick to require a majority vote (unless only 2 people in the party). So to kick the 5th, you would need 3 of the 4 other member to approve. The 4th would need 2 of the remaining 3. The third would need both the others. Kicking the 2nd is the exception, because a majority is impossible.
It’s not perfect, but better than 2 people kicking the whole party.

And that cost you how much real money? Just freaking ouch.
It’s like $30, not really that much.
Some of us who can afford it have dropped hundreds of dollars. $50 for gems is cheaper than a few drinks out at the bar.
^ Truth. Anyone who actually has a job can say “I’ll budget myself to spend $X on recreational activities, $Y of which will go to gems.”
While it would be anticlimactic to kill of Mordremoth so early, it my actually make sense. I’m not saying this is a good idea story-wise. In fact, I agree with the OP. But if Mordremoth is just now awakening, it won’t have had as much time to absorb magic and therefore may be weaker than the other dragons, allowing for a faster kill. Taking out Mordremoth soon then becomes an attack of opportunity.

I noticed something an a different thread here that the blueprint in Scarlet’s room (see attatched) may be Omadd’s machine. Now look the Asuran looking structure at 21 seconds into the trailer. Are we actually going to see Omadd’s machine? And if we are, are we going to use it?
As stated by a couple people, the primary problem is in organizing large fights like Tequatl or Guild Missions (due to map population cap). While overflows were annoying, they at least let large guilds force a new overflow to be created and then party taxi everyone to the (nearly) empty overflow before it fills with randoms.
As the OP stated, though, the Megaserver’s algorithm seems a bit out of whack lately. A couple days ago I was put into a different map than my entire party, who were also the only other guild members online at the time, from the same home server, and on my friend list. And yet I was able to still party taxi over to their map because the population cap had not been reached. This means the Megaserver algorithm completely failed in every aspect.
If you mean the Shattered Dragon Wings, then you’re out of luck. If you mean the Holographic Dragon Wings, then there are still some on the Trading Post for not too much gold.
I just did the Chaos Crystal Caverns jumping puzzle in Iron Marches for the first time in a month, and the chest is already open. I don’t get an interact option, so it’s not just a graphical glitch. Is anyone else having this problem?

you have to make the basic one first (doesn’t require 250 iron/dust, only 50) then upgrade it with steel and the corresponding dust tier and blade shards, then upgrade again with mithril, dust, and more blade shards. Then upgrade again with orichalcum, dust, and even more blade shards.
then buy the ascended recipe from a vendor at a refugee campI haven’t got the ori upgrade yet(need more blade shards) or the ascended recipe, so I can’t tell you what materials the final step takes
Ok, how much did you spend on the TP to get that far already?!
I actually had the materials in my collections tab already. Still need a few empyreal fragments if I want to ascend it though.
I was wondering if it was just me, really hope they fix this soon.

If all awards we like this then the OP might have a point. However, only some awards have this characteristic. Variety is good. There should be awards for all methods, even those involving teamwork.
I’m sick of this excuse for the bad achievement design for the dodge achievements. While I agree that variety is good and achievements involving teamwork are good, you can not honestly call random placement of players onto separated pads, who can no longer help each other even if they wanted to, teamwork. If players who beat their champion and destroyed their console could move to other platforms, then you could call the achievements teamwork based, but not as they are now.

Name any other MMO that gets meaningful updates every two weeks that doesn’t have a subscription fee or is pay2win (you have to pay to get top-tier stats i.e. Vindictus). The RNG skins are an effective way to pay the salaries of the people who make this game so good. If you can’t afford to support the people giving you free content, then farm gold and buy the skins of the TP. I really can’t see any problem with the system other than the low chance of scraps (20%-50% would be better).
My group beat the whole dungeon with 2 elem, 1 ranger, 1 mes, and 1 necro.
Clockheart is the final boss, but there is some extra optional stuff after.
Give it time. People will warm up to it soon. I already love it.
Did he killed you with a rapid fire aoe, you can aviod this by taking down his shield with a hologram, use control skills to pull or knock the holograms to the boss, and kill it then. The other aoe attack is a cone attack, so if he is casting this, get behind him.
This. And also note that he doesn’t throw gears in melee range. The winning strategy my team used was to have everyone melee the boss and when his shield came up, 1 person would tag a hologram and pull it to the boss. This avoids having the whole room full of gears.
My group took out Sparki first. One person got the ooze pheromone and kited the ooze into the oil while everyone else went nuts on DPS. Note that you have to get the ooze to go inside the oil spots to clear them.
What worked for my group was kiting the elementals, using projectile reflects, and meatshielding the elementals’ projectiles with your body.
I believe you have to do damage to tequila himself to get credit for the event. For turret operators, the time for damage is right after the laser hits him. Just spam 1 while he’s stunned. That should do enough damage to count. I could be wrong because I have never been on a turret, but no other possibility makes sense.

You combine them with Tribulation tokens to make the Tribulation skins.
Obviously you get Tribulation tokens from Tribulation Mode, which from my experience can be extremely frustrating at times.
The splendid chest isn’t even that much better than the regular chest (if at all). I haven’t noticed any difference in drops between the two at least. My brother got the back piece from a regular chest, too.
This is exactly what I’ve been telling people to do. They think it’s impossible (or near impossible) to get over 80 points in a round, but in fact it is very possible to get over 100 points even if you die halfway thru.
Just checked my achievements list and it says “Southsun Survival Regular” was “Repeated 4 times” with 4/6 current.
I admit that I may be off by (at most) 1 loot bag, making my average 83.33, but even then it takes much less than 50 games. And yes, I do kill a number of people during the first 2 minutes. I usually go for the pistol, throwing dagger, or sword at the start. If I don’t think I can get any of them I go for an arrow and start killing.
Edit: Headshot only, not wasting arrows on weaker skills unless I have plenty to spare.
Wrong. You win by being the last one alive.
You can win without killing even one player.
Anyway, Quarktastic is right that the goal isn’t to survive until the timer hits zero.
This is true, but simply surviving doesn’t make the game go by quickly. Camping also gives much less points than being active and killing everyone, thus making it take forever to get the score achievement. I found the best way to have fun is to karka bomb the campers if you die. Follow the active people to get more motes then go to the camper.
I never looked at my score per game, but I did always get a message popping up saying most scavenges and most arrow kills.
Edited to add: When I died, I always went to areas with a large number of gathering spots to get as many motes as possible in a short time, then beacon trap / karka people and repeat until the game ends.

If it’s taking you 50+ matches to get High Scorer, you’re doing it wrong. I got it the same game as my fourth loot bag, which is every sixth game. That means 24 games and I was done (although I still played quite a bit more because it’s the most fun I’ve had in PvP yet). Campers get low scores, so be active. Also, campers slow down the game. So instead of revenge-killing whoever kills you, karka bomb the campers.
My main is a Ranger and I like how the skill changes look (haven’t gotten on the game yet). We needed that blast finisher on Call of the Wild badly, and stealth is a nice touch.
On the note of Black Lion keys/scraps, it’s going to depend on how many scraps you need compared to the drop rate of scraps whether or not it’s actually a good thing. The reduced drop rate of keys makes me a little apprehensive.
My brother mined the quartz node in my home instance before he got his Gift of Quartz, so as long as one of your friends or guild members gets it you don’t have to worry.
Almost forgot, if you mine someone else’s node then the one in your instance will be mined as well (if you got the Gift) and vice-versa. You can’t mine 2 home instance nodes in 1 day.

The whole point of the living story is that theres always something going on, how are people who don’t have time for those couple of hours to complete the basic stuff going on at the moment magically finding the time to go back and complete all these previous arcs?
Jam makes a good point here. If you don’t have time to complete the current story arc, how are you supposed to complete previous ones too? The point of the LS is to award people who do have a lot of game time and are getting bored with the normal content. While I agree with people that we do need more permanent content, the temporary LS content is by no means a bad thing.
It is my belief that people who obsess about missing temporary content in a game are missing the whole point. If real life gets in the way, that’s a good thing! It means you have your priorities straight. If you happen to miss out of temporary content, so be it. It will not affect your real life, so why worry? I misses out on the Lost Shores events, but I’m not going to quit the game or complain about it. Stuff happens.
The OP is not asking if the drop rate of the crates is affected by DR (it seems to be), he is asking if the chances of getting good loot out of the crate is affected by DR (I don’t know, but I doubt it).
I have a solution that may work. Make the boxes each contain 1 of some token which can be redeemed at a price of, for example, 50 tokens for a weapon skin. To keep the exclusiveness of the skins and incentive to buy more boxes, the token bought skin could be marginally inferior to the skin bought with the ticket (i.e. no particle effects or something similar). This will keep unlucky people from being too discouraged to buy RNG boxes while not making those who do spend the big bucks feel like their money was wasted on a common skin. Also, if I got the ticket at, say, 30 boxes and only needed 20 more tokens for an extra skin, I would gladly pay for the extra boxes for tokens instead of quitting after I got my ticket.
I’ve actually found the 200% magic find buff to be amazing at gathering T6 bloods, claws, etc. One of the most common reasons people find magic find useless is because it doesn’t affect chests, but when you’re after the crafting mats it’s a completely different story.
I noticed that the karka loses the retaliation when it sheds its leg armor. Maybe it’s a phase 1 mechanic in the 2 phase fight?
The tickets aren’t in the Black Lion Chest this time. There’s a new limited time RNG chest called the Consortium Supply Crate. It can (rarely) drop from mobs on Southsun Cove as well as being a cash shop item. This would be a perfectly fine solution if the drop rate of the ticket inside the chest wasn’t so ridiculously low.
Was he using Spirit of Nature? It’s activated skill revives all nearby downed allies after a short casting time. With good timing, a ranger can activate the skill, be downed during the cast time, and then be revived by his own elite skill.
Well then…thanks for the answer anyway.
The title says it all. I’ve searched the forums and google/youtube, but I haven’t seen any mention if the Super Shield lights up the area around you (like the Halloween book, forgot the name). It would make the shield very useful in the dark room of the jumping puzzle in the Eternal Battlegrounds if it did. Can anyone confirm or deny if the Super Shield emits light?
You can win without killing even one player.
