GW2 essential edition

Do anet consider selling essential edition of the game, like core game with unlocked TP, mail, chat, elite specs and new stat combo, but no new maps, masteries, glide, mounts, raids, LS and etc? I mean I am really not interested on those grinding. Don’t want to spend money on that. Don’t even want to play them if you give it to me free, especially when I have alt acc.

CoF path 1 is also pretty stupid. It’s existence doesn’t mean this is stupid also, however.

CoF path 1 is just the “most stupid” of them, not the only one. There are plenty of dungeons that are waaaaay more “stupid” than maw, hotw p1 etc. In fact, if you want to nerf “stupid” farm and make it fair, you pretty much have to revamp most of the dungeons. Anet are just bring half of the “stupidity” out of dungeon. If I farm, I still farm dungeons. If you just want to complain lag, as the above post said, move or guest to a server with population you feel happy with or wait until anet fix the performance issue.

And after watching it, I hope everyone realizes why you should camp dead bodies in your newly taken keep/tower if you care at all about keeping it.

Even if you camp, so what?
Can you remove the dead mesmer? No.
Can you break the perma-stealth? No.
Can you stop the rezzing? No.
Can you kill the mesmer before she/he put down the portal and jump down the wall? No.

How long and how many campers you need for 2 people that may or may not be even here?

Why are Dungeons ok, but Raids not?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: YPC.6349

YPC.6349

I think Anet decided against raids because of a couple of simple reasons:

1) No trinity. This may seem strange but one of the side effects of not have a real role division seems to mean also less tactical instances. A raid is about tactics basically and as we can see in current dungeons boss tactics are very limited. Also groups bigger than 5 would not have a real function. You’d basically be zerging mindlessly causing lag for each other.

2) This relates to the first point. But one of the reasons the trinity was taken out was to counter the endless LF1M need tank/healer that can be seen in some other MMOs. If you add raids for larger groups it might go against this idea. Even though you don’t need roles you do need enough people and in GW2 that’s just a clusterkitten waiting to happen. Why? Because pugging them would be horrible and you would need to be able to make groups of 8 or 10 within your guild which is often not an option depending on the server and playtime but also because it seems this game doesn’t really encourage guilds that much. The biggest problem here is the representing issue in my view and the general lack of cohesiveness that I’ve seen so far.

Of course this isn’t always the case but it seems that GW2 is built for either small groups (5 man), solo stuff or zerging events (or dragons) and wvw.

The dragon fights and wvw are what GW2 has to offer instead of raids. If that’s not enough for you, then what is it about raids that you like that GW2 doesn’t offer? Likely it will be about tactics in raids and group building. But these are two elements that GW2 is just not built for.

Well, OP’s point is why is there dungeon (5 men instance) but not raid (10+ men instance). Your points about raid are true but they also apply to dungeon. Most of dungeons, like you say about raid, doesn’t have roles and tactic. They are just 5 man mindless zerging. If so, why must we have to have 5 men but not 1,3 or 10?

No healer class, but differing viability..

Engineer mechanic is fine. They need some buff to make their builds solid but not revision. Ele need some buff and nerf on different builds too, but again mechanic is fine and it doesn’t revision. Ranger, however, do need a revision. The existing mechanic simple does not work well. No matter what you try, it would not be “useful”, even underpowerly “useful”. I don’t play nerco. Due to the amount of bugs they have, I would say we can start talking about them after most of bugs are fixed.

I am on the on the fence too. The main problem is NOT that GW2 lack of endgame. It is GW2 has bad endgame, which is poorly designed instance grind. And we have a divided player base too. Players like Anet’s idea are not happy because the endgame is all about instance grinding. People like traditional MMORPG or WoW(which define the “tradition” of MMORPG) are not happy too because the instance grinding is poorly designed. To make the situation even worse, Anet seems like lost. No one could tell what GW2 will be.

Forums full of negative-non in game? Why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

YPC.6349

I can make a single statement based on me. My history, in 10 years of MMO gaming is, if I am happy with the games, I’m not on the boards.

Speaking for myself alone, if a game has a flaw that makes reading the boards more entertaining than playing it indicates a problem.

Starting to frequent the boards, for me, usually means I will be moving on soon.

That’s true for me too. If a game plainly sucks, I can quit cold turkey. But for good MMO games, I can’t. If the game is doing okay, I rarely stay on the forum. But if it go to the direction I dislike, I will go to the forum to see if there is any hope it will make an U turn (usually nope) or maybe try to communicate (again usually useless). I will spend more and more time on forum and less and less time on game until I quit the game and there is no points to stay at the forum at all. That’s how I quit all games I played before.

Any plan to fix sharded system for dead maps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: YPC.6349

YPC.6349

The problem is, most events are not worth to do anymore, even when leveling, except some really easy one that can be completed quickly, or to fill the heart while you do it. Even for a level 80 trying to get 100% map completion, you can simply skip all events unless they help contributing to fill the hearts nearby. The rewards are almost ignorable considering inflation and how much you can earn from a dungeon run. Event may take 20 minutes or so to complete, but you can get 100 times of reward by spending that 20 minutes in any dungeon.

My only reason to do event is now:
(1) It helps to fill the heart
(2) You need a few more for the dailies
(3) For pure fun if you have never done it before

They need to add something special in the reward or event will die when more people start to realize that they are not worth doing at all. Maybe 1 FotM token per event or 5 dungeon tokens (related to that zone) per event might help a lot to fill the map with casual players who dislike or have hard time in dungeons.

I am thinking about exactly the same thing. The issues is incentive, not population. Merging people in one server is like a brute force solution. Putting dungeon tokens in the end of events seems easier and addresses the issue more directly.

That is the bidding price. You can’t sell an item below vendor price, the TP will not allow it. However you can only place order/bid an item at any price.

NO NO NO… the TP does allow you to put it below vendor price, the tax puts the price lower than vendor… Honestly I think you are Trolling,,,,

If you mean the listing fee and transection fee, then I have already answered your question. People were in the middle of dungeon, speed running I may add. They are making 1-2g/hr. It makes no sense for them to stop 10 mins to find a vendor to sell greens so they can save like 3c.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

No, it isn’t. Few games can really make all their “jobs” reward fairly. You always can find a guide/walkthru teaching you how to grind faster. GW2 did a rather good job before Nov. 15. It was unfair but you can’t tell which one was the best. After Nov.15, ACTF (AC, CoF, TA up and FOTM) is all you need.

Also, forget about solo, that is another empty promise. No matter how they told you per launch, the current state of the game is all about 5 man dungeon grind if you go after “reward”. There are plenty of funny things in game too, but don’t expect they reward you much except fun.

Problem: Everypony love Twilight.

You ARE the problem of inflating price. Other precursors except dawn(another twilight) and the legend are below your 100-200g range.

This. Very few precursors are actually in the 100-200g bracket.

Some are as low as 20-30g. When people say they can’t afford a precursor, what they really mean is they can’t afford a precursor greatsword

The ones that are cheap are mostly underwater precursors.

I’m not sure why no one wants those, but I have my suspicions (they can’t be seen on land, so you can’t show them off in town to feel superior to the unwashed masses, which seems to be the reason most people want a legendary these days)

no its that most classes are horribly bad underwater and a legendary won t help….

They decided to make legendary top tier forever…so i decided to try to start to build an incinerator (i really hate the skin also -.- possibly the worst legendary….) i would never thougt of it if it weren t for at least having one less concern every major patch…

Btw i won t be able to get 250 gold for the precursor possibly ever unless i start farming orr like a bot…..if this is even still possible.

Do all the other gathering first. With any luck, there’ll be a new dagger legendary that’s not so goofy by the time you have all your tokens/badges/stack of mats/million karma…

I actually went that approach … I have EVERYTHING (Gift of Twilight, Gift of Fortune, Gift of Mastery) done and sitting in my storage. All I need is my precursor (Dusk) which has gone up 100 gold (510 gold iirc) in less than a week and shows no signs of leveling out. At current pace his precursor would be close to 1k at the current rate of “inflation”. So this may not be the best advice.

The inspiration for this thread was … I already did the “hard” parts and am still unable to complete my legendary because of how the precursors are acquired. Currently the only way to farm enough gold is by BUYING it. If Anet wanted to catch half the people buying from the gold farmers all they would have to do is check the accounts of the people with the buy orders in on Dusk etc. If you can afford to have 300-400 gold tied up in a buy order for one item … odds are you didn’t get it legit.

They seriously need to put in an NPC selling them to help remove some of the gold farmer gold from the economy. It would fix the over all inflation in the economy and help to balance out the damage the bots and gold buyers are doing.

Then you made a big mistake. You should have save all your money and rush precursor first, given the fact that dungeons right now are flooding the market with gold and soon I don’t know if people still care to trade with gold . Gift can wait and precursor can’t. I know someone doing opposite and he just need to farm gold for the gift. If you did so, you properly have a Twilight now. While I agree there should be more fair way to acquire precursor, Anet should not bail you out for your poor planning. Anyway, Nothing forbid you to get Twilight. You just have to farm more to pay for you own mistake.

- WvW is way too predictable. That is exactly what I think. It lost all the excitement it had in launch because of that. But twisting score system won’t help.

- PvE map is too big. Well, PvE world is not that big. We have enough of players to fill the map. The problem is for most of content there is no points for people go to do it again. Dungeon have way better reward. Dragons or some DE chains in Orr are okay. The other DE? Hell no, it is complete waste of time. Merging server is bad in marketing point of view. And even they do so, you still haven’t solved the core of the problem that is there is no reason people do low-level content.

Don’t you understand it yet? You are the reason of your own suffering. The more you play only-for-reward, the more only-for-reward gameplay(aka grind) they will put into the game. 3) Drop rates <- No, they just nerf Orr. Dungeon now have the best drop rate and even better gold reward. It is so good that it floods the market with gold and we are having gold inflation. We never make gold so easy before.

It is Kudzu. It is a cheap legendary and the cheapest two handed legendary because it doesn’t require lodestone and only players with female warrior/ranger want that. Even so it is not bad. It has light effect, sound effect, projectile effect and trail. Not one of those effect are great but it does has many effects

Grats YPC, what would you say was the most difficult part of getting it?

I’m gonna guess it’s the Mystic Clovers, especially if OP went for the 10x recipe. Everything else is pretty straightforward, but the Mystic Clovers are sort of a gamble. Reason being is that there is a % rate at which Big Z will actually give you a Clover from the mats you feed him. Right now with the single clove recipe it’s right at about 33% success or so (appy-polly-logies if I am incorrect). So, about 3 per 10 tries. And that’s A LOT of karma down the drain.

Mystic Clovers was tough. I have bad luck on that(less than 30% hit). That is extra 25+ ecto to fill the gap even it is just 3-4% off. But I wouldn’t say it is the most difficult part because it doesn’t hurt much in big picture. There are two things I think is really hard. They may sound contradict to each other but they are different things.

The first one is saving. When you are going for a legendary, you will eventually mass a large sum of gold. It is 100+ gold, all yours, and there are so much things you can buy, but you must resist because if you can’t amass enough of cash, you will be unable to gain benefit when there are good deals. It feels like sailing in an endless ocean with many beautiful islands behind you.

The second one is large sum dealing. When a deal involve large sum of gold, I find it takes a lot of courage to seal the deal. It is weeks of work in one click. No one can tell you if you are doing right. And they are not like Z which will sit in the center of LA waiting you until you are ready. It is a very stressful thing to do large sum buying or selling. Sometime I let good deal go because I fear.

It use to be easy to get gold really really easy. Anet is just making it harder and harder.

Legendary crafting cost, aka without counting the price of precursor, almost double within a month in term of gold because gold now are the easiest to make in history. Dungeons generate too much gold and there is huge decrease on mat supply due to nerf and lack of incentive. And lets look at the material list of legendary, it costs 120g, 2k t6 fine mat, 1k T3-6 common mat, 3 stacks of 100 lodestones or 250 t6 common mat and about 500 ecto . The gold part only takes a minority of the cost therefore the overall cost is depended on the price of mat. Increasing gold supply will cause even larger inflation, making everything even harder to get and at some point people stop trade item with gold on TP and start using ecto/forum token as currency and only trade in 3rd party forum.

To make it more clear and simple, if you are using gold as standard currency, then yes legendary crafting cost is ridiculously expensive now; but if you are using ecto as standard currency, then it is the cheapest in the history.

Has there been any indication anywhere that transmutation stones don’t work on ascended?

It should work, but getting some of MFR item is almost like half way to legendary (e.g twilight is about 1000g and volcanus is about 400g). If ascended is as hard as those MFR, you may as well just get a legendary.

Here, this is a list of (most) of the named exotics that can be created in the mystic forge. In many cases people prefer these to their legendary counterparts such as Mjolnir over The Juggernaut.

Keep in mind 3 things though:

1. Each of these recipes requires an Eldrich Scroll, sold from Mitani for 50 Skill Points. If you want one of these to tide you over asthetically until you get a legendary, youll have to “level” that much more for 200 skill points.

2. These are exotic weapons which means they will likely be slightly inferior to the ascended weapons once they role them out. A simple Tmute stone fixes this however.

3. These recipes are a grind. No doubt. But its for the materials only, nothing else. No RNG here (CLOVERS). Once you have what you need, youre done.

So check em out.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge/Other_Items

Yea, MFR weapons fill the gap between exotic and legendary very well. If you are hitting “legendary wall”, you could look at on MFR. They could be easy or almost as hard as legendary, so you can pick a goal that is affordable to you. They don’t create power creep. Their special look make you feel “progression” and more unique. Some of them even have better look than legendary imo, like Mjolnir, infinite light, Mists series(those need 250 ecto). And they have more style to better suit your character, like the bows if you roll a male character, firebringer/volcanus + cof armor for a fire-theme character, winters/jormag for ice-theme, eye of rogort for nerco etc. However, at this moment, I would say unless anet confirm they will offer a way to ascend them, it isn’t an idea to invest on them. Anyway I think MFR weapons is a great idea, anet should not abandon them.

Right now, players earn gold way faster than they earn fine mat due to Orr drop rate nerf, dungeon reward buff and fotm. I won’t expect the price will go down soon because dev won’t dare to nerf dungeon. They can only buff the other. And since they will eventually buff open world, the fine mat/ecto inflation may slow down but the price of rest of items will continue to increase. Precursor tho is an exception. Their price will increase along the inflation but at some point it will collapse because dev will do multiple precursor QE. Not now because they are busy cleaning up the mid-Nov. mess, but it will happen as dev almost promised it will happen.

There is nothing legendary in any video games. If you are looking for one, go back to real life.

And there is nothing to do with drop rate. They are the same.

If you have ever farmed Orr you would not make such a statement. And if you do farm Orr then you are lying to yourself. Everyone who farm there notice the nerf of drop both in quantity and quality.

I mean the ecto drop rate via salvage. I know that they nerf Orr drop rate.

price of ecto = price of the cheapest T5 fine mat * 15 (most of the cost)+ price of mithril ore * 6 + price of elder wood log * 6 + price of cheapest T5 mat* ~10. This is where the majority of ecto come from. Since they 1) mass ban the bot, 2) nerf the Orr and 3) introduce fotm, most of the farmers who used to supply T5 fine mat are banned, quitting or farming fotm like you. That is why the price is rising.

And there is nothing to do with drop rate. They are the same.

You can offer help to those who need Arah story in exchange of help in Arah exp. At least, compare to other dungeon, there is more need for story mode. And as you say, many need group/man. Just remember the time you need Arah story, would you want to help the guys keeping yelling LFM arah exp next to you? what if he offer help to your story mode?

BTW, the same applies to other dungeons. You gonna help the other for story so that they can help you with expo.
