Tarir Commendation not being awarded

Part of the Luminate’s Backplate collection requires a commendation for each gate (north/east/south/west) octovine kill. I’ve done a few successful runs now with the collection unlocked and nobody in my party or guild has ever seen one. They don’t seem like they should be a rare drop based on the item description, seems they may be bugged.

Both good points.
I think the assault on the octovine is defending tarir, but I’ll still try the other events, though they don’t seem likely.

Unsure if I should report this as a bug, that they don’t get rewarded, or if something is being done wrong.

Or if they’re a really low drop rate on a successful run I guess…

I’m super excited to obtain the Luminate’s Backplate, I’ve been gunning for it since I saw it in the wardrobe day 1.

I’ve been on a couple of successful Tarir runs now, but never seem to get the Commendation for completing one of the gates after we beat it, I have the collection unlocked, and nobody in any party I’ve ever been in has gotten them either. I’ve checked the Chest, tried having 200% map participation, everything. I just can’t get a commendation.

Are these bugged?

Zyphent.2967

I personally do not want open world dueling. Many that I have heard from feel the same, and point to other games that had similar things like you desire, and the problems that it actually causes. It does not promote a friendly environment, and causes additional headaches for the Devs.

You probably have at least half of PvE that does not want that, and the majority of the rest are mixed, and I’d go so far as to say half of PvX as well would not really be for it. The only way I might not be against it, is if there were certain spots set up, but not in the middle of the typical areas people gather, for this purpose. But then again, the custom arena’s fill that role.

Half of the players dont want half of the things put into the game, you’ll have to give better reasons than that.

Can you elaborate on the “Doesn’t create a friendly environment” concept please? Every game I’ve seen with duels you can disable the option, and its generally a small crowd who enjoys dueling each other, and its totally non-invasive to any other section of the game.

I can understand it not being your cup of tea, but how can you actively be against it? I cannot fathom many scenarios where it actively hurts the game, and clearly there is demand for it.

I think it is awful that they are offering this. Invalidates those of us that hated doing things like World Exploration, and would rather do WvW but we had to do other game modes. But because Anet favors PvP thinking it will save this game they get a legendary for winning a tournament. I like PvP and do it myself, but giving away something that people grind for for 6 months to people that just mastered one game mode is wrong. Precursor, or one gift I guess is ok, still over the top, but giving away the whole thing is such a slap in the face to the rest of us. A title would have sufficed. Still makes them stand out, but doesn’t invalidate others’ accomplishments.

Thanks Anet…

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not…
Lots of people will likely enter this tournament, and to get in the first few slots you have to be a VERY skilled player.

They are actually giving the best rewards in the game to some (ONLY 5) of the most skilled players in the game for once, and you’d rather everyone has to grind for it…?

Do you feel that Solo Arena has any benefit to a player for learning how to play as a team?

If I can throw my 2 cents in here.

My best experience with Solo queue was when we totally stomped a team one day, so I said in Team chat, just before the game ended, “Hey, you guys wanna do team queue?”, all 5 of us did. We did another like 8 games in Team Queue and won 7 of them, it was great, I friended them, and it was literally my best experience with sPvP to date.

I feel those times are pretty rare though, people don’t always take the initiative to make friends and offer to queue as teams, more often than not people will just say very little, trash talk, blame others, etc. The potential is certainly there, but I don’t feel the system in and of itself is very conducive to it unless someone is really taking some initiative.

CDI- Fractal Evolution

Is the reward team also looking into Fractals-armor? I would love to save up for a Fractals specific armor, like we used to do in FoW and UW back in GW1.

I shall pass this on to the reward team. Note the reward team doesn’t always have the chance to read this thread, many other teams do though hence me passing on suggestions etc.

Chris

Hi,

So we discussed this idea. The fact of the matter (and I should have been easily able to answer this) is that armor is in high demand across the game and thus for the time being it would be unlikely that we would see a fractal only set.

Chris

Thats fair, just something else to put forth.
What about doing it like the Achievement armor, tying it to specific tiers.
For example, beating fractal 50+ lets you buy the helm, 60+ lets you buy the Gloves, etc.

This would both allow the team to take their time making it (release 1 piece with 10 Fractal levels in a single patch), as I doubt they have time to make and model a full armor set at once, while also providing more incentive to climb higher in Fractals.

Why I've changed my mind on Ascended

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zyphent.2967

Zyphent.2967

The whole Ascended gear is just so poorly conceived from front to end. It makes no sense. Nothing in the game is better or more rewarding because of Ascended gear. It just pigenholes you character into a single build and play-style while asking you to grind ridiculous amounts of material only so a certain abundant material can have some economical value.

It’s like how “luck” was supposed to make greens and blues more appreciated and curb inflation. Yet all it does is create more and once people have 300 Magic Find, then what?

Just like with all the new currencies ANet introduced, none of them have a long-term plan. Everything is add-hoc and never thought through to the end.

ANet has brilliant artists and animators,
They have competent programmers,
They have a fairly management,
but in terms of game-design, they don’t seem to have a clue what they’re doing.

Easy solution for this: Ascended gear is the precursor for legendary armor, then you can stat swap it once you do the final upgrade.

Endless amounts of mob and no loot.

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: Zyphent.2967

Zyphent.2967

This is probably my biggest criticism of GW2. For all the epic monsters I slay, I sure don’t get any epic loot. I don’t expect to get an ascended item on the first drop. Hell, I don’t even expect to get one on the 100th drop. But getting random blues and greens after killing a mighty foe is kinda disheartening. One of the things I enjoyed in other MMOs was that every time I ran a dungeon or world boss, I was always excited by the prospect of getting a sweet piece of loot. In GW2, I don’t even bother. Perhaps I’m being whiny, but it just never seems like you are never sufficiently rewarded for your effort.

Other than that, I’m so far enjoying the new patch. The boss fights are difficult but interesting.

I think the only “Epic” monster I’ve really slain has been Teq. What you’re asking for is more hand-outs.

Teq pretty frequently gives me ~5 rares, thousands of Karma, sometimes and exotic, and one day (hopefully) a unique skinned Teq weapon. And look at the hardest dungeon, Aether Path, it has unique drops selling for hundreds of gold on the TP right now, I’d say the real challenges in this game do pay out.

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

Suggestion for easier ascended acquiring:
Make them trading postable, I know ANet is scared it’ll devalue them as quickly as it did Exotics, but something needs to be done.

Alternatively: 3 exotics and some item that costs some gold in the mystic forge has a chance to spit back an ascended item(a decent chance, like 4 rares does for making an exotic), this also has the benefit of making some of the cheaper exotics more desirable and valuable).

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

in CDI

Posted by: Zyphent.2967

Zyphent.2967

I’ll leave the Ascended Stuff for others to argue about, I’m content with it now that its all in the game as is.

Whatever happened to vertical cosmetic progression is what I’m wondering?

The Fractal Capacitor is a brilliant example of this, its a backpiece I can get and wear, then as I do more and more fractals, I can gradually upgrade its appearance cosmetically. I’d LOVE to see more of this. The Halloween 2012 backpiece had this as well.

Also, Titles are a cosmetic progression reward that is severely underutilized. What about Title tracks that I could progress through?
Example: As it currently stands each world of Super Adventure Box has its own title, and I don’t need all the achieves in World 1 to get the title for World 2. But what if doing all the achievements in one world just Progressed my Super Adventure Box title track up one level? Then I could have a form of progression with titles! Note: Some work like this already in a way, like the Hall of Monuments titles. Why dont more?

Now that ascended is in the game, I’d love to see vertical progression take the form of upgrading stuff I currently have cosmetically. ANet seems to have been doing this early on in the games life.

Town Clothes

Town clothes are a complete failure as an idea. Why would I buy a set of clothing that cannot be worn in combat in a game where you are in combat 95% of the time? I would never spend single gem for them.

Actually I hope that the (apparent) slow sales of town clothes makes them reconsider the idea and just introduce costume slots one day that accept -any- type of clothing, like the ones Rift has.

Thing is, I don’t really want people running around in boxing gloves, baseball caps, and aviators while fighting a dragon with me.

Town Clothes would be good armor for Activities, as opposed to the current PvP armor setup, but thats only a marginal fix at best.

But make no mistake. If you didn’t make your Gold from the Queen’s Gauntlet, or Champion farming, you’ll be left behind in terms of wealth. That’s why it’ll be interesting to see how Anet responds to this.

This is incredibly hyperbolous. In the last week, the median player earned less than 3 gold in the new content (that’s discounting all players who earned less than 1 gold).

I too am curious if this only accounts for the queen’s gauntlet farm.

And furtermore are the outliers not more of the problem? The economy is structured in such a way that a few very wealthy players can manipulate it pretty easily.

Even if you do argue that people aren’t failing the event deliberately (I don’t know how you can honestly believe such a thing), logistically it just feels wrong that you are so well rewarded for failure, clearing the hardest dungeons in the game is not as rewarding as failing this one event over and over again, deliberately or not.

You can’t. And not that it matters anyway, because intentionally failing is not exploiting

How can you so blatantly lie to yourself? Go look at map-chat when the boss mob spawns, everyone spams “GUYS BACK OFF” and “DON’T ATTACK”. Its intentional failing.

Intentionally failing is exploiting, its been proven in the past, people just don’t get banned for it, it would seem.

Champion farming needs to die. When I look into a guild roster and see 90% of the members in Frostgorge Sound because they’re zerging around killing champs with zero effort for ultra easy gold, something is wrong and this game’s economy is going down the toilet.

0 effort?lol you should come here, hf getting pulled by champs and dealt 7-8k dps per second , we will see how fast you scream zero effort.

bad player? I am sorry, champions have pulls and wells dealing insane damage per seconds, jesters have bombs stacking damage killing multiple people in the same time. This new issue is frequent in temple runs as well , not only in normal events or ’’zerg’’ events. Keep staying blind with your rage and enjoy countless deaths when you’ll have to do temples with the new risen types + the boss.
I was there for a while to check it out, even if you get downed/die you just WP and run back if nobody will res you, and resume smacking the mob.

I don’t think you understand the concept of effort.

assuming you don’t get pulled again and killed.

At which point you’re a bad player, it doesn’t happen with enough frequency that you die so much you have to actively put in tons of effort to earn the reward, its mostly just not being asleep at the keyboard.

Maybe you’re just blinded by hatred or just ignorant, but those risen have started issues at temples as well. Keep justifying this and enjoy getting killed over and over while trying to liberate temples, assuming you even do that

Sorry, you lost me, I don’t have any hatred or contempt for you, or this issue.
All I’m saying is that you stated there is effort going into this farm, and I’m saying that effort is mostly negligible, as you can just avoid it most of the time, and the point at which you can’t you just run back, and it only puts a very small dent in your overall farm’s profitability.

Seriously, what is the point of these with the new system? Everyone prefers to do Even numbered fractal levels, as it gives you the bonus boss and chest at the end, the logical thing to do to progress is to just do the even fractal closest to your fractal level, but now you basically do that fractal twice.

This would also have the added benefit of seriously reducing the often-complained-about Fractal grind, the highest level would be effectively 24, and FoTM would start getting challenging a lot earlier than it currently does, and I think thats what any player running fractals wants.

Logically this doesn’t make sense.

There is a chance you go against a full premade, yes, but if you queue as 2 then someone else queued as 3 to fill out your team, meaning the pool is full of people not queuing as a full premade.

That said, just recruit a few more people for team tourneys, you’ll make new friends that way anyway, but yes, if you don’t mind the possibility of going against a full premade now and then, you can duo-queue.

Do you really expect the newbie/n00b zerg train to keep doing those after the 3rd time they fail it? …of course they’re going to go easier champs instead in a safe little circuit that cuts down on their WP’ing and Repair bills. If they liked getting Ganked constantly, they’d be in WvW instead…

This I completely agree with. It just puts a lot of false difficulty into the events and I totally agree that it needs to be fixed ASAP.

I also agree.

I’m fine with events failing, temple of Lyssa is a great one, theres 3 sub-events and if one fails the boss resets, but having NPCs get one shotted because an event scaled too high is not a fun way of adding difficulty to an event. Put it actually on the player’s shoulders to keep an event active, if they approach the fight wrong there are consequences.
