Seems to me Anet is starting to turn into one of those other greedy companies out there.
Heck ye Im fuming here where I sit. This is the great wardrobe upgrade really ? As a altoholic I expected to pay for the look i want with charges and then keep the look locked in the wardrobe.

Now i find out you have to pay again if you upgrade your armor. Not just that but you triple the price on charges.

No thanks this is a big slap in my face. I wont be using this stupid wardrobe at all heck I wont even bother creating more caracters. thanx for spoiling everything for me.

Really dissapointed in Anet and i was so exited about this wardrobe aswell.

Rant done.

For characters under level 80, if you want to transmute, you have to use a charge now, which is three transmutation stones when you convert them. You used to be able to use a single transmutation stone prior to level 80.

It definitely affects a percentage of the playerbase, and I think Anet should look into it.

Eh, fair enough I guess. It could be something they overlooked. The patch has been up for half a day, maybe they’ll change something in the near future. Also the charges seem to be easier to obtain than the Stones were. I played for 2 hours & I already managed to get 2 charges from randomly playing ( don’t know if I got really lucky or not).

On top of that, correct me if I’m wrong though, the price for the charges is lower than the price for the Transmutation Stones/Crystals.

Like i said if they are easily available than before sure but somehow i think you just got one from a daily and a zone so nothing new there

There are actually four dye areas on outfits, and I found out that you can hide the head, shoulder, and glove parts by hiding the corresponding armor piece. Not AS customizable as before but not nearly as complete a loss as this makes it out to be.

So THAT’S how it works! I was getting afraid that I had to put up with that huge hat from Pirate’s outfit. What a relief!

But the hat is amazing! Especially on an asura.

Don’t you guys get it? I remember when they stated that they were content with champion trains (clearly not) and they had no intents on changing. Anet did this this because they want more people to purchase gems to convert to gold. It’s not that complicated of an issue. They deployed the “inflation” smoke screen and boy have you guys just lived up to their expectations. Time to wake up from your deep slumber and realize that they just want more mulah from you.

How about this idea. Removing the cost of trait changes & armor repairs (armor repairs being clearly more significant), also removed a big Gold sink, which means they need to tone down the money you gain. Seems Logical no?

And also People keep forgetting that Anet is a Company with employees. You know kinda like you wake up every morning to go to work so you can eat, buy things you want, etc. Anet has to do it as well. I can understand why they want people to buy gems & turning into a “greedy Company” is not what I see. I for one will Keep on supporting Anet with my Money so they can improve the game I love.

Armor repairs were a huge Gold sink. Now that those are gone, they had to reduce the Players income somehow. I think this is perfectly reasonable.

Eh, don’t like it, don’t play it. I for one am not too bothered by the engi changes (tho Automated Response getting nerfed kinda sucks.) I play my engi in all game modes, never had any problem finding a Party & am still having fun. If my builds get nerfed, I will find another one that suits me.

On Abaddon…

The “campaign” model GW1 had involved two rotating teams with a one-year cycle for each team. So, while Abaddon was possibly still a Schrodinger when Factions started development, they probably knew who the god behind the curtain was before Factions was finalised.

Where do you get that info? The inspiration for the Factions story was a real-life Korean legend(or fairy tale if you will). I highly doubt the writer’s had Abaddon in mind when creating the Teller/Shiro dynamic. I doubt they had a god in mind at all for that matter. A few npc’s effectively stating “you didn’t just save Cantha, but a greater evil” doesn’t have to make it mean divine intervention. If anything, they most likely left it open-ended for future development…which the Nightfall writers obviously acted on.

I really don’t get your dissing of Abaddon. Dissing Scarlet is perfectly fine and greatly appreciated, as she is such a horrible disgrace to everything Guild Wars, but Abaddon? Get off the high horse… Abaddon was awesome and a very well implemented nemesis. I just wish we’d have been able to gather more on his personality in the Realm of Torment, like learning about some of his good deeds from the Solitude Plinth (mined from the gw.dat). Or him talking at least once in Abaddon’s Gate.

In both replies you pretty much put words in my mouth but what ever I’ll try & explain. You are talking about how AR is a grind & thus a stupid mechanic, but (even if is was through the TP) you need to invest a lot of time/grind & farm to gather legendaries. Granted if you took 15 days to get yours through the TP it doesn’t directly affect you, but then again I didn’t have to grind for AR either because I got good drops running fractals 10. You were saying something you felt. Great, still doesn’t mean it isn’t hypocrisy & why I exactly am a hypocrite because of my comment is beyond me.

But hey, I am also only saying what I feel (and for that matter, probably what anyone that enjoys fractals feels).

As Aaron said, it’s not a hive mind. They just talk really fast, which allows them to discuss amongst themselves fast enough to understand things quicker – and their talking is fast enough that it just seems to other races that they become smarter.

This said, I do not think that a corrupted skritt would be able to talk his way into making others corrupted. No more than a corrupted human would eventually talk another human into accepting corruption.

In the Skritt sympathy Story, after you round up a couple of Skritt, their speaking abilities actually seem to improve (Grammar, etc.). Wouldn’t that imply that they actually get smarter?

Regarding the tool kit lack of offense, what if we had a second skill on the gear shield of purely offensive nature?
They should just modify the model a bit and add a cannon in the middle. Then we can have it shoot a small/mid range cannonball for a sort of burst damage…in exchange for a prolonged cooldown on the gear shield skill (akin to the guardian’s orb of light, basically).
And the nice thing is that, well, the gun shield really exists – i didn’t invent it on the fly. It didn’t work that well, ok, but we’re engineers…we could make it work better, somehow.

Please no. I like the CD on my shield as it is. I think the TK should be used as a Utility instead of using it offensively.

Is this actually a problem others are having? I must use rocket boots 250 times a day since launch and I have never seen anything like this. I really haven’t seen anyone else complaining about this anywhere on the forums that I have noticed. Is this just an isolated problem, or have I simply been lucky?

I have it as well. Though it only happens occasionally, usually when I have to run away from a zerg or something else that can kill me xD

I have to say, I don’t like this idea of ‘prestige items’ and ‘destroying value’ that seems to have appeared in GW2. In GW1 there were no items and weapons that were yanked out of the game forever after introduction and never able to be found/achieved/farmed again.

According to the new blog post, MF gear will soon be phased out so do not spend any more resources on it.

I currently have full exotic MF gear with runes, full ascended MF accessories,rings,amulet with 20% MF also that will soon become obsolete.

Thanks for ruining my farm gear. Removing a base stat from the game is hugh. No different from removing all zerker gear from the game.

It’s not the same like removing Zerk imo, because that stat ( & pretty much every other stat that isn’t MF) actually contributes to the party… & they are going to give you accountwide MF which could be better… Imagine full Zerk/Knights/ w/e stats you like AND 200 MF… Now that is awesome!

Alternatively, if Anet feel that enemies have to be able to see it so they can choose how to fight us, allow us to hide it from ourselves/allies, so only enemies see our backpacks.

Well they could always give us a “buff icon” like the eles have with their attunements. That would fix the hobosack problem.

But yeah, OP I like the idea, didn’t get the Bomb Kit one though.

I don’t see why content can’t overlap a little.

Thus it being repeatable is not relevant to the storyline but in F&F it is. If you do not like the fact that they are actually trying to make something different with an MMO.. then leave.

How does content that completely disappears after a set time leave a mark on Tyria? And even then, answer this for me: What does temporary content add to the game after it’s gone? How does this content improve the game, not just at this moment, but in the years to come?

As for your final piece of advice, here’s something for you: if you do not like the fact that I’m wanting content to stay in the game… then leave.

Can you still visit and participate in the invasion of Normandy? No? Oh, thought so. Because it ended years ago and you probably weren’t born in the time to go there.

That’s the idea. There’s a lot of lore to this game, so time continuity is important. Plus, there’s the exclusivity factor. If you give someone who just joined the game the chance to have something that the player who has played since Beta has, then there’s no special rewards that people can go and say “yes, I was there when it came out”.

Argument does not hold up when:
-I can run other dungeons just fine without them disappearing from my game.
-Enemies appear out of thin air on the overworld.
-Orr never changes, even after I have beaten Zhaitan.
-World bosses return every few hours, no matter how often they are killed.
-Natural resources grow back every 24 hours.

Exclusivity does nothing to improve gameplay. It doesn’t make the game better, or more fun to play. It doesn’t do anything.
These devs have been working on creating a new dungeon, when they could have spent their time reworking current content. Like, I don’t know, fixing Citadel of Flames path 1 so it isn’t face-rolled by a group of 5 idiots every 4 minutes. Maybe fix the numerous bugs. Maybe make current dungeon bosses more than punching bags with a massive HP bar.

Very easy solution. Don’t play.. If you don’t like it why bother? Others obviously enjoy it, so why are you talking about it being a waste of time if only the minority thinks that? I don’t regret a second that I invested in this Living Story.

Thought, considered & this is the post. Thieves are not OP at all. They are average in PvE, a bit annoying in WvW & an easy kill in PvP. If you’re next question is if I play a thief, than the answer is no not anymore. They already got nerfed by increasing their revealed time I don’t see why Thieves should get another nerf towards their stealth ability.

Turrets? They still die in a few hits, so that sort of ruins their buffs…

Kits? I was a 3 or 4 kit engineer always, I embodied ‘trying out new stuff’.
This patch showed me such builds as mine will never be viable.

Gadgets?
Plenty of new stuff to try out indeed. Maybe because a gadget build is a gimmicky joke that ends up weaker than a 4 kit build?

Elixirs?
New stuff for me, since I didn’t use them. I was stupid not to.
Elixirs are the only utilities we have that can do everything, from support to burst, to cleansing, to survival, to stunbreaking.
The traits for elixirs are awesome. I ould only dream of having equal traits for turrets, kits, or god forbid: gadgets!

p/p HGH? That’s not the new stuff, that’s what most will be running…

I don’t think that KR is necessary for multiple Kit builds… ofc it helps & I will not deny it, but just the fact that Anet focused more on Engis this patch than on any other class shows that, we can probably look forward to future patches. Yes, turrets die quickly, no they are not useless… I am trying them out atm (sPvP) & they are viable. Gadgets can be very helpful as well… sure not near as viable as Kits & Elixirs but still…
I am just sick & tired of everyone in this forum crying about how “broken” & useless Engis are, & how Anet keeps hitting them with the nerf bat (which is true until this last patch imho). I had a Thief as main & as soon as I tried out Engi I knew this was MY new Main. I no way at all have I ever thought that they were UP… some builds just didn’t work until now, turrets for example, but now they are at least viable. KR is NOT the only useful Engi trait.. I have the feeling that this forum doesn’t know that & this really grinds my gears.

My Personal Wish for GW2

First of all thank you for your great job so far Anet GW2 is easily the best game I have played. Buuuut.. The recent server troubles are getting quite annoying & are making the game more stressing than fun. I am 100% sure that it has nothing to do with my internet connection, because many guildies have had the following problem: Skill delays followed my a chain of dcs. Please Anet before releasing any more content or what so ever try to fix this problem.

Hammer Engineer

This has been discussed before, but I could not find a dedicated post for it. We need access to hammers.

The hammer would give us engineers much more utility/build versatility. I very much enjoy my engineer, but we are far too reliant on out kits for unique abilities. We don’t need weapon swap, but access to new weapons can only do good. In this post I’ve put together a general idea of what the move-set could be. The move-set is inspired by Jayce from LoL(an inventor with a hammer of some interest.)

Engineer’s Hammer Basic Abilities:
#1) 3 phase basic attack, similar to the combo of an elementalist’s lightning hammer
1] Bash, basic swing, medium damage, 3/4 cast
2] Bang, basic but faster swing, medium damage, 1/2 cast
3] Boom, smash the ground for a powerful electrical discharge damaging in a nova, 1/2 cast

#2)Rocket Pound (because a rocket-guided hammer blow sounds awesome,) engages a small rocket within the hammer to guide the hammer into foes with great force for moderate damage(knockdown 2 seconds), 1/2 cast 15 CD (combo blast)

#3)Magnetic Vault, lunge at target area(like the rifle’s Jump Shot) dealing damage upon landing, 1/2 cast, 20 CD (combo leap)

#4)Vent Energy, vent electricity and steam in a nova, blowing back enemies and curing 1 condition, 3/4 cast 30 CD (combo field smoke [3 seconds])

#5)Overcharge(weapon defining ability,) overcharges the hammer, temporarily replacing abilities 1-5, kits cannot be used during this time due to the volatile power being channeled, 1 1/2 cast 45 CD, lasts 15 seconds or until canceled

Overcharge: The hammer begins to be held like the Mesmer’s Greatsword as all 5 abilities are changed temporarily. Counts as an environmental weapon but cannot be dropped and kits cannot be used until the effect is over. All 2-4 abilities can be used once per Overchange. Each 2-4 ability knocks 1 second from Overcharge.
#1] Charged Beam, channels on target enemy, damage increased over the duration(like elementalist’s Arc Lightning,) 600 range 3 Duration
#2]Infused Beam, Burn(2 seconds) and Cripple(1 second) for your next 5 attacks (a full Charged Beam will deplete all 5 charges)
#3]Grounding Round, fires an electrically charges slug dealing medium damage, detonate mid-air to immobilize enemies hit, 1/2 cast 600 range (fires like Flamethrower #2)

Conclusion
The hammer would be a great addition to our arsenal, the moveset could obviously be different but regardless we deserve more of a ‘technical’ moveset than a thick skulled hammer warrior for example.

No. We do not need hammer. It wouldn’t hurt to have it but need? No.

I rather have them fix what is already there before adding anything new.

We are also not necros and any health cost to skills has no place here imo. Engineers are meant to build reliable things.

Well in my honest opinion we do not need a hammer but we need more weapons. I said weapons not kits because kits do not count as weapons. Sure they are awesome & all but tbh I always preferred using weapons with gadgets over those kits….Mostly because of them hobo sacks :S

He does? I completed my personal story and went back but he never showed up. I always figured it was a bug. Where is he supposed to be?

I have done the storyline & I haven’t found him either…makes me sad

One of my favourite NPC’s is Pol. I even chose to save him during my personal storyline, but I can’t find him anywhere in my Home Instance. Why isn’t he there anyone have a clue?
