besides the fact that runes of strength are bugged, you don’t do damage because all you have is PVT gear. I run something similar to the staff build Dolan posted, but if I find myself dying a little too much I have valk armor/Knights I can switch out, and PVT/Zerker trinkets I can fall back on to be a little safer.
I’m interested, what is your gear? The helm looks awesome.
this is what the designers made tribulation mode about though. The insta-kill traps and hidden spikes are a staple of the same type of frustrating puzzle jumpers they based tribulation mode on.
Honestly people keep discussing difficulty of trib mode, when without the hidden kill traps trib mode would still be pretty difficult because it actually does have fairly difficult jumps. the strafing jumps in the first path of world 2 zone 3 and the ice floor spikes with trib cloud blockers in world 2 zone 3 are particularly difficult jumps to do and require a good jumping prowess.
But in the end if you really complain about difficulty, the only difficulty is twitch skills and precise jumping, which means people with faster reaction times and better twitch skills will always think the content is easy vs. people who have bad twitch skills and bad reaction times.
Hey Vocateur not to sound mean or anything, but you should really learn how to dodge. Again I’m not sure if you were serious in that short clip, but you could have prevented a lot of damage by just dodging a couple times. Just a friendly tip.
best way to avert this is to just kill something really quick, it usually happens when you leave combat during stealth or a really sketchy situation and the game won’t let your drop aggro. Killing something or regaining aggro and dropping it is the fastest way to fix it.
yeah the dailies are for any bosses, and they will probably change around what the requirements are, honestly I don’t think it will be too tough to get wings.
yeah you guys don’t know what casual means. Or we have extremely opposite definitions of casual play. If you log in each day to do the daily, you are already not on my casual list. Hell more than 100 hours is not at all casual. People have weird definitions of casual.
This video displays a clear double standard of FGS rush and the whirl skills. They were both intended as gap closers and movement skills and both skills allow maximum damage against walls. a whirl skill shouldn’t be dealing so much damage either if used against a wall. The only difference in terms of how FGS rush is an exploit is the amount of damage it deals, they both exploit walls. imo they are both exploits, if you can call them that, personally I think it’s good strategy and should stay.
It was too easy! Tribulation Mode complete!

For all the people saying Pay to Win, it really isn’t difficult to get continue coins. You can do solely World 1 for 7 bauble bubbles one day, which comes out to 35 continue coins. You can do three days preparation for Tribulation mode, and have 105 continue coins. that is 525 lives.
Tribulation mode is very difficult but not impossible, World 1 took me and a buddy about 70 continue coins, with trial and error jumping. If you looked up a guide you could probably do it with 10 continue coins. There are ample opportunities to get tons of continue coins, you absolutely do not have to get the infinite version because it is not needed.
For the people who say the infinite coin is for convenience, honestly 50 lives will last you a good amount of time, and if you really don’t like being in Moto’s continue room for that twenty extra seconds then you don’t have the patience for Tribulation mode.

just finished world 1 for the green skin, gonna go for world 2 tommorrow. My buddy and I started at 110 coins and went down to about 20ish. Huge props on the final frog boss, his mechanics went from meh in normal to holy god the lilypads on both side are trapped oh no!
Definitely the highlight of GW 2 for me I’m a huge sucker for jump puzzles, and this one is devious. Gonna go tommorrow probably after getting more bauble bubbles and coins, and try for round 2.
one day of running zone 1, 2, and 3 will net you 7 bauble bubbles, that equates to 35 continue coins which equates to 225 lives, if you can’t do regular content with 175 lives then I don’t know what to tell you, and if you want to do tribulation mode then you need to be ready to lose a lot of continue coins, and even then i finished zone 1 and 2 with about 50-70 coins, so yes it is not for normal players.
Also now imagine that instead of trying to do every piece of content on day one you actually waited a couple days. 5 days of consistent playing world 1 will get you 875 lives. That is enough lives for whatever you need to do in SAB.

I fell under the map in world 1 zone 1 in tribulation mode wile playing with a friend. it really sucked having to restart the whole level because you can’t rejoin and you can’t even enter your own solo tribulation mode run, so I was forced to either wait until he finished it solo and do something else because I couldn’t leave the party to do any other worlds.
SAB Weapons (in game) are frustrating
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: bookman.9260
They were designed to be clunky to recreate the same clunkiness of classic arcade games. The whole idea of SAB is to recreate and emulate the old games that it stems from like LoZ and Mario. The trick to handling the weapons is to know their animation frames and timing so you can plan when they hit.
The whip is probably the worst offender of this as the range is deceiving and the hit animation is like a whole second after you activate it, but it’s a really strong weapon, and learning how the attack animation works will let you become a master at it.
I saw that they were going for a ton of gold on the TP is there any way to make them not account bound if they haven’t been used?
My good friend and I are searching for a medium sized guild to hang out, and run dungeons with in Sorrow’s Furnace. we do a little WvWvW but we would primarily like to run some guild missions, dungeons, and fractals. message Phxer we would love an invite.
A game should be describing its mechanics and gameplay to the player in-game instead of requiring the player to alt-tab just to read up on some skill (or even have a separate tab with in-depth descriptions of tools). It breaks immersion and more importantly is really annoying when you can’t find the answer that you need on the wiki.
I usually find myself starting in fire. Burn through all your cooldowns and set up your 2 skill which is a fire field. Then switch to earth use 2 skill for bleed and damage and spam the 1 spell. Since it is a combo finisher: projectiles, and fire 2 is still up you can apply burning the entire time you fight. After that switch to water explode your 2, and i dunno repeat i guess.
Fighting underwater sucks.
I’ve been looking to join the guild since I see you guys everywhere in wvwvw. I’ll send a whisper next time I am in game
I would like to point out something.
Ecto price has been tanking and will keep on falling.
Why is it a good thing?
If ecto prices falls then crafting a legendary will be cheaper; so their prices on TP will fall, as there will be more available.
Only people who try to maintain ecto price are actually sinking their gold to limit on the heavy loss that their are going to have as I predict ecto will naturally be priced between 10s to 15s per piece in the next 15days.
I am selling daily 25 to 50 ecto depends on what I dropped during my play time and how lucky i have been salvaging; overall it’s right moment to make gold for sure… Thanks to buyers :p
It’s a good thing because instead of spending 30 gold on switching/trying out an entirely new set of gear, I can craft it for 12 gold like it was during December prices (probably more like 20 gold but still).
I love the idea of experimenting with new builds, and I don’t want to spend 30 gold refitting a character just to realize it was a bad build. I’m not saying 10s is a good price range, but 40s was most definitely not a good price range.
For a lot of people it is difficult to get gold, and I think it is a good thing to keep ectos cheap enough so more people can access them.
Last night ecto dipped into the 28s range, I wonder if it will rebound with the weekend influx gobbling up cheaper supply or dip even lower due to more of an increase in supply from that very influx of players.
I still need to buy around 150 for my legendary(among other things) but i’m pretty spent from finishing might/magic before this week’s patch anticipating T6 salvage increases. I’m glad I waited on ecto, it dropped like 10s so far…
I keep getting the feeling the only reason it has stayed so high is from power traders trying to artificially keep prices high by buying up low stock and reposting it high. It is a very interesting spectacle to watch, but I’m just going to wait for the market to stop fluctuating.
After all speculation is one of the main reasons you can lose or gain gold, so it is a risky play to expect globs to bounce back to 38s, but if you are right you could make decent money. I wouldn’t since I prefer playing safe.
I have never gotten one in my entire time while playing with 100% map completion on one character. I have about 80 of the basic stones, but no fine stones. Had to buy them for 4g, which isn’t awful, but still frustrating.
Not buying an Emberglow before the preview came out.
I was debating buying both this and Emberspire a day before the patch, but I had finally made up my mind the day the patch came out, and was shocked at the prices.
Oh yeah and buying Exotics with Superior runes of divinity to BLK salvage them to get the gold back from the runes, and make a profit off of the globs I got. I didn’t realize the TP ate 1g for listing, so I lost about 30 silver.
I remember doing that event almost a month ago, and it worked fine. Not sure how it is broken. You just have to defeat all of the previous sun champions first to activate the final one.
It definitely isn’t a very sought after event, but I can’t remember what kind of chest spawns after beating it. Is it a big chest? Would the longbow drop from a smaller chest or is it like Final Rest where it is in a bigger chest?
if you have an excess there are a lot of useful things to spend them on.
In order of what I deem most important to least
1. fractal backpiece
2. 20 slot bag
3. skill points
4. obsidian shards
This is just my opinion though some people don’t like/want a fractal back and don’t care for 20 slot bags, regardless though skillpoints are always useful.
Open world loot has never been as good as dungeon loot, and now it is probably on par with it probably better, which imo is a good thing.
Anet stated they wanted a persistent and open world, and these large events get people to go out and travel around the world.
In the end people need to stop complaining about the great loot the elite farmers could always get. Before this I would get a rare every couple of days because I don’t play hardcore enough to do dungeons. Now it isn’t like the elite hardcore gamers are getting more loot, they could always get this much gold much easier from dungeons (CoF)
so nothing has changed except now it is easier for casual players who can’t run CoF hours a day to get gold.
Also consider the stability it gives when using ether renewal. Unlike our glyphs and signets ether renewal is a channel, and anybody who plays eles, can easily interrupt your channel leaving you with a 20 sec cd. It’s always better to have a bit of stability sometimes then none, and with ether renewal especially you get screwed if it is interrupted.
no this should be revenge for the people who don’t farm CoF path 1 endlessly for a couple hours and come out with 50 gold. I like that open world can finally compete in rewards vs. dungeons.
just ignore ascended. i only picked up my amulet because I had the laurels, but now that I see how ridiculous the accessories and back is going to be (tbh I think the rings are fairly attainable) I am giving up until we have actual easy ways to obtain them.
emberglow went from 17g to almost 30 g. What the literal kitten?
wow this topic really blew up. I was just hoping to get some economical insight for dumping ectos since I would rather be safe than sorry. Luckily I dumped my ectos for 36s, and now they are ~31s. We will see how low they go, I’m looking forward to seeing them for ~26s again during Christmas. It will also be interesting to see how crafted armor prices adjust to this as well as rare armor.
yes but if supply increases and demand stays the same then prices will drop. Why would the demand for ectos suddenly begin to rise up again?
I’m just wondering. Also one thing I didn’t take into account was Arena Net changed a lot of events like Frozen Maw to only drop one chest per character per day. This may even decrease the supply and make ectos even more expensive, but again only time ill tell.
I did the Frozen Maw event once when I logged in and it went fine. However, the next two times the chest was invisible and I could not loot it. I knew it was there, but i could do nothing.
I hope you can get this fixed quickly. I understand you have a lot of bugs to fix, so good luck.
Yeah I think it’s a good thing too, I’m just hoping to make sure I sell them if they do. Worse that can happen imo is I just buy them all back up if they don’t change by much. If they get more expensive oh well, if they get less expensive I made a little profit.
Maybe it’s just me but with the increased loot drop, I’m afraid globs of ectoplasm are going to start dropping in price what do you guys think?
I just logged on and had 3 rares drop from frozen maw, and i have never in my life had that happen, so that is why i am concerned.
the trend is usually sell until you feel like you could be lucky and identify dyes. Then when your dyes suck you go back to selling. Rinse and repeat.
favorite lottery: salvaging rares for ectos. I would always just sell my rares for the silver, because it guarantees the price of one ecto, but recently I started actually salvaging them, and it feels great, mainly because the salvage rate is actually pretty good, and feels rewarding.
Luckiest lottery: I got the Risen Priest of Balthazar mini from buying only one Orrian jewelry box. Haven’t bought another one since.
also shouldn’t it cost more around 800g.
100 mystic coins = 9g
charged lodestone = 250 * 3g(each)=750
1500 oricalchum = .03 * 1500 = 45g
This is give or take a couple gold, but as long as you farm lodestones I’m sure you have a decent amount of mystic coins and orichalcum ore already stocked up.
yeah you are right. For some reason I multiplied the 6 ori ores, and the ingots to get 18 and then multiplied that by 250 :/ weird. still that is a lot of ore you need. I hate that they took away the rich vein it was pretty amazing.
honestly I would go for mats over gold farming. With inflation being the way it is I wouldn’t count on gold value, unless you can farm it up in a month. I remember in December a full set of crafted exotics would run for 12g, and now it’s about 30g.
On the other hand lodestone farming, especially charged lodestones is pretty tiresome. I would run a ton of CoE because they drop charged lodestones, and then use the gold to buy more lodestones.
Also make sure you have enough orichalcum. it is something ridiculous i think like 4500 pieces of orichalcum ore you need, assuming you are even a weapon smith to craft the blades. Since the rich orichalcum vein was gotten rid of it is going to be a chore and a half to get the amount of ore. I suppose you could farm and transmute 250 mithril ores to get them, but still that is a metric kittenton of orichalcum.
Anyways best of luck, but I wouldn’t put too much stock in gold nowadays. Things that used to be cheap are now really expensive, and unless Anet buffs the droprate of charged lodestones they are more than likely just going to go up and up. just my two cents though.
did somebody say breaking maps? I may decide to roll an engi just to be able to use jump shot to get places. I love the high cliffs you guys have made, and really wanted to explore more.
has anyone considered that it could be a special event chain during night?
The wiki says that there are multiple different events during night, and if there are only a couple of minutes of night time it could be we haven’t found the right chain because it’s rare and only takes place at night.
what do you mean by dodges get cancelled? do you still get the effect of the dodge? Do you stop halfway through your dodge? Does it seem like you only get the effect of evasive arcana 50% of the time?
What it sounds like to me is that you don’t know that Evasive arcana has a cooldown for about 10 seconds, so when you dodge and nothing happens you think it didn’t work, when in reality your evasive arcana is just on cooldown.
If not I guess send a bug report, my dodges work fine good luck.
There is a path through sparkfly fen that you can get out of the map. I ended up on the other side of one of the portals to another area. I wish I was a character with a sword leap because I couldn’t get to the other side with my ele
There are a group of ice wurms in frost gorge that give you 2 dodges when you dodge backwards. It takes like 20 seconds to finish your daily dodges, and there are tons of them everywhere. I don’t have a problem running two more feet to find another one.
when our base hp is about 10k there is a reason we need to go that far into water. Also eles have amazing healing powers, which is why it’s such a popular build.
ascended rebreathers. That would be amazingly awesome.
Doing my story dungeon mission in Arah was one of the most fun times I’ve had in this game. I had a great group that joked around, and we were all experienced so the dungeon went really smoothly.
We would be on the airships yelling out commands, and yelling, “Fire everything!!” Even though the Zhaitan fight turned out to be a little lame, it was amazing fun because of the group I had. Also I got to level up the entire game with two friends so leveling was always a fun and engaging experience. I think that is what has made the game so much fun for me.
I must have gotten a money roll, because the one and only jewel box I bought dropped the mine
