Oh everyone can reach 100% boon duration. You realize Rev F2 gives 50% boon duration to everyone? For only a little bit of energy upkeep you effectively account for 750 points of concentration. 750 stat points….

If I only got one thing to nerf the game that would be it right there.

Sigil of nullification triggers on 1 target. It also triggers if there are no boons on the target. What other class besides necro has AoE boon corrupt? Rev has a skill to strip, but revs are spamming resistance.

People have been complaining about conditions since the beginning of the game. In large scale battles in WvW there is so much cleanse it’s ridiculous. I’ve survived getting hit with every single condition in the game, getting corrupted, only to have my allies cleanse and resist them all away.

No one is moaning or crying. People are giving their opinions on game balance. Some people think the amount of boons able to be stacked so easily isn’t very fun to play or play against. The meta we have now is actually stronger than the old stability since old stability was countered by chill, cripple, and immobilize.

There have been dozens of posts about this topic on here. My thoughts are that anet has no idea on how to fix the balance issues they’ve created. The fact that it’s a multi class mechanic probably is too taxing for their balance team kappa. Even with skill balance split they still haven’t even addressed it. What can you expect though, when there are reemerging bugs in a game this old.

Thank you guys for the continued reports on boons and conditions affecting siege, walls and gates! I wanted to let you know these are being investigated, but no eta is available at this time for fixes.

Dara, I don’t mind having more complexity to WvW combat. Having professions or builds better with siege isn’t a bad thing.

Except it is. No build or prof should have an effect like that. It would make it mandatory, killing build diversity and adding even more in for developers to balance.

Thank you for the swift response. I figured it was a bug but I just couldn’t remember. Someone in the guild said it was a problem a few months ago that got resolved, I’m sure with the new things being added though something got mistweaked.

My group was attacking a keep today and some thieves were defending and using venom share on the Arrow Carts. It was allowing the carts to heal and use the various effects. Is this intended? Or is it a bug?

Has nothing to do with my interests bud, SoS is the server that’s going to die because of their anti fight/PvD obsession.

Strange, Mag’s K-trains seem to avoid fights as well when they start getting wiped. And last time I checked Mag has been losing guilds. They would get crushed in t1/t2.

So you’re complaining pugs don’t group up and play how you want them to? Pugs are terrible on every server, I 1v4 both mag and Sbi regularly.

And as for ocx, the reason there’s so much ppt is because the other servers log off because they don’t want to fight. Which is fine because SoS pugs do the same during NA and EU. Unless it’s a guild, people aren’t going to fight unless they have a huge blob and that goes for all three sides.

If you want organization join a guild. PS, OG, DCA, Rx, the list goes on. They aren’t going to run 24/7 though. You have to accept the fact that a large majority of people don’t care or have quit. If you can’t enjoy the game without other people supporting you that’s on you.

Understand that I don’t mean anything personal against people who run it. Hell I run it myself. I just agree with many others that its a very passive playstyle and allows you to ignore a large majority of the game mechanics.

I’m nowhere near as desperate to defend my point as you are, so good day sir.

Also you’re wrong. Having a group composition that doesn’t fall apart when your herald/mesmer dies scales far better than one that does.

If that’s true why are all the top guilds running setups around high boon uptime?

You’re missing my point. I am not crying for mesmers to be gutted. I am not solely blaming mesmers. Mesmers do add more duration and can help reapply if someone get theirs stripped. They add benefit to something that is already strong. There are so many small things that together have created a huge powercreep in terms of boons and survival. I don’t have a single suggestion of how to remedy it, because everything is so intertwined now.

So you have more boons and more boon duration? Wow! I realize GvG can utilize different mechanics due to much more highly skilled and coordinated players, and a boonshare mesmer might not fit your matchup 100% of the time. But those are regulated to what 15v15? 20v20? The problem is that the benefit grows exponentially. That and the fact that having every single boon in the game being permanently maintained. It is extremely passive gameplay that allows you to ignore a large amount of the mechanics this game has.

Pain absorption only creates resistance? People aren’t only complaining about that. People are complaining about every single boon. If it was just resistance then it would be much easier to counter. Which is the whole point of the thread. Which I guess you didn’t read through.

Boon share pretty much requires double herald + mesmer, a pretty big investment. The alternative is 1 herald hitting pain absorption every 4 seconds.

Boon share mesmers are not a problem. The same boon stacking can be achieved by camping malyx, you only give up perma quickness in return for better boon strip immunity. The only reason to run boon share is to open up heralds to spam dwarf rite which is not as big a problem as it used to be. Running such tight builds are their own weakness as a more versatile group can focus key elements down while keeping a greater degree of freedom.

Except it can’t. You could run two identical groups, give one a boonshare Mesmer and that group will have more access and more duration. The reason people use boonshare is because it makes something that was already good, great. And there isn’t a more versatile group. People aren’t just running around with heralds and mesmers. They have eles dedicated to healing, guardians to provide stab and cc, necros to provide their own boonstrip. They’ll even have thieves for pick. All these different classes benefiting from only a few traits and utility spells.

Pain absorption spreads resistances to your party. If you have one rev casting that with the boom duration facet, runes of durability, correct armor, etc it’s a decent application.

The Mesmer then use a combo which entails casting a phantasm which is traited to cast signet of inspiration which copies the boons, then the Mesmer itself casts the signet. All this is done during continum shift, so the combo happens twice equating to 4 copies.

This shouldn’t be a cry for nerfing mesmers though, they aren’t alone to blame. It’s a combination power creep in all classes. Boom duration as a stat affects so many skills and traits in the game it’s just mind boggling on how to balance it all.

I have no problem with small man tactics. If small man tactics rely on the large generation of passive boons, then there is a problem with balance. Especially when the counter is reliant on the somewhat random corruption of boons with slow pulsing easy to avoid AoEs.

I will add my name to the anti-boonshare group. I have used and abused this method myself. I understand rewarding coordination, but its really just such passive gameplay. A combination of stats, consumables and traits creates such broken gameplay.

Our group of 10 should not be able to get a minute of protection, 30 secs of resistance, etc. etc. Keep in mind we are doing nothing combative or reactive to obtain this. We just have the right gear and consumables, stack a few boons and then have them multiplied.

I think the stab change was good, but this mechanic needs to be brought down to balance the playing field.

Weed out people who have been abusing the stronger builds these past few seasons. No more merc’s ammy, necro and mes have been nerfed. People who got to legend riding a easy build from metabattle are going to have a much harder time this season.

Druid got hit pretty hard too. So there will be less sustain running around. Scrappers probably still hold well, though.

Yeah most classes have taken a hit in some form, besides thief and warrior who needed to catch up.

No… Druid heals got buffed. They reduced a cast time of one healing skill

Mesmer never used the shield CD effectively if they had a rotation. It is tighter but the rotation will still exist. The shield nerf means nothing… in fact mesmer healing signet can instantly recharge that shield skill so it is technically always on a 35-28 sec CD regardless of duration.

Seed of Life: The number of conditions removed by this skill has been decreased from 2 to 1.
Lunar Impact: The cooldown of this skill has been increased from 5 seconds to 7 seconds. Daze duration has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
Ancient Seeds: Fixed a bug that allowed multiple triggers of this trait on a single target.

I don’t really understand dueling in WvW. You’re using broken runes and stay combinations that have been removed from competitive pvp because they’re either too passive or powerful.

And so what you can pick off zerglings? Half those players are new to the game or just play casually. It’s like bragging about a lower leveled player in another MMO.

I get it, play your way I could care less. But if Anet every starts looking for solutions to que problems or help new players into WvW, then /bowing for hours around SMC won’t last long.

You’ll lose out on a little damage, but at the expense of a little more survivablilty. For dungeons and pve content I don’t think it’s needed, but I think for some higher lvl fractals there are instabilities that would favor marauder over zerker.

Personally I would go with marauder because it’s a nice balance and you technically get more value with the 4 stat split.

I mean you can counter treb, and use shield gens. The other team is using open field siege which can be hit from OW and by mortars from keep as well.

And if the build shield gens to cover their siege, then yeah you’re gonna have to go push them. You aren’t meant to defend from a sustained attack indefinitely.

It’s been a while since I looked back at this thread but there was a point I wanted to contest with what some of you are saying: “high MMR players got carried by their MMR”. If that’s the case then they’re most likely stuck in high sapphire or low ruby. People in diamond/leg now started having even matches as far back as high sapphire. Nearly all my games in ruby were decided by a couple of mistakes or bad decisions.

Now that doesn’t address the issue with the large loss streaks people are having, and honestly unless people record their matches and post for evaluation (which some people have), there will be no way to truly determine if MMR is really the issue.

Sapphire is not bad for this season at this point. There are still loads of high end players who don’t play as much or started late who are still climbing through..

4. Not stuck, but games are harder both sides are playing 100%, can’t go on autopilot.

6. Eh maybe. Diamond always looks so daunting. I need all of part 4 of meta achieves, so even if I hit legend it’s not a guarantee ill get the backpack this season.

Edit: I also didn’t play more than 3 matches for three days of the season.

People aren’t saying you shouldn’t be able to solo him, it’s just that you shouldn’t be able to do it in 10 seconds. That’s less time than it can take a player to respawn. And if someone is defending, that’s a person you pulled from other parts of the map.

I would rather point out the fact that for any build remotely needing shroud you have to take soul reapin, because LF gen is kitten without it, I feel like numbers and traits could be tweaked to change this. People complain about having to take elite trait lines, but soul reaping is almost a must with reaper. Many other classes are like this as well with trait lines.

Necro wells have more damage and boon strip. Chrono mancer wells reward you if someone get hit by the final duration effect, which won’t happen that often. Gravity well is effective but with a large group stunbreaks and stab are a plenty.

Right now in organized groups chronos are running boon share builds, so if you enjoy a backline play style with wells necro might be your thing. I’d recommend ele as another option though.

Yet in mobas almost everyone gets identical items or the best in slot for their character. They have a meta just like gw2.

I will say mobas are extremely mechanic intensive, probably one of the most in gaming. But you can’t call a game like company of heroes tactical and a moba at the same time.

I think matchmaking has done a good job seperatinge high tier players.

There aren’t enough pop for divisions.

Placement matches should be a thing

The big issue is rewards, it’s why placement matches haven’t been done I assume.
Anet has tied super mega legendary to this system, which was unnecessary. I would’ve been fine with the icon and title. Exclusive rewards aren’t bad, but for a such a small portion of the pop without something comparable for your average player really sucks.

Yeah I think it’s kind of similar to how conquest was taken advantage of by some classes with healing and super speed, etc.

There’s just so much to consider in the process of balancing a new game mode. A TDM would require a entire different kind of balance. It’s very similar to the control node mode in LoL, some champs are just broken on there but you can’t do anything without affecting the main game mode.
