With launch buddy the load time for LA has been reduced to 200 seconds to load in, but not everything is rendered when it’s done. Every other issue I’ve had has been resolved with launch buddy.

do you have a paid anti virus with fire wall ? are you using two monitors at the same time and streaming on the other monitor ????

with out knowing your systems specs and so forth best I can give like any other poster is a best guess and hope it helps you .

have you tried launch buddy for guild wars 2 ?? that can give you lower ping rates and so forth ??

also too are you letting your WINDOWS FIRE WALL have access both ways for the game ? that will also increase your speeds and drop your ping rates down a good bit too

I made an exception on my antivirus for GW2 a few years before this increased loading time. I don’t stream anything, I used the same conditions as before the issue happening.

Since the new stress test the loading times on when I open a hero tab, open Black Lion Trading post or log into any of the 5 races’ Home Cities, it’s up to a 10 to 30 second delay.
Lion’s Arch takes up to 4 to 7 minutes just to load into, but that has been an issue that I had with my client ever since the recent Beta Weekends. I hoped it would get fixed to it’s regular loading time, but to no avail.

The problem that I usually have is that I don’t like it when it comes to removing things from the list of items to be banked. Since I tend to craft during some periods while others I focus on the story and others I focus on the achievements or mastery points, my various characters get to have a bag space filled with items that, maybe I’ll use later, maybe I can bank them, only to find that the bank space gets full quick. And while I can sell said items and get them later from the TP or farm them, that is a bit much, usually, for something that I used to just have at one point or another on an alt.
Sometimes I have so many ingots or logs that I am afraid to refine into something more concrete that a few professions do use, but then I realize that I don’t get more XP for leveling said profession anymore since I passed it for a while now.
It just becomes a game of magical chairs with materials, professions and characters that I spend more time worrying about item management and less time enjoying the game the way I want to. Because if I sell something now on TP or a vendor, do I need it later and can I get it at the same thing at the same price that I got it in the first place? Or just look at my map for nodes and get the part that I need again through the long way, only to realize that the long way gets me too few materials to craft into other materials. And it just becomes a circle of stress for me and time wasted doing something that’s more like filling a spreadsheet rather than playing a videogame.
I haven’t even mentioned,yet, hunting the NPC vendor that has the exact thing or just going on a grinder for that specific thing on the Mystic Toilet or doing PVP or WvW just for that one thing that’s missing, not because I enjoy said game types that most of the time I am reminded of how unqualified I am at them and it just a tedious slog.
The fix for alleviating most of my issues is getting as many items in the material depositing area as common sense allows.

You are my hero, LinseyMurdock, for taking the time and making that list. As an on again off again crafter, there are a lot of materials that I need for a short while, but then I have to sell or destroy them until I realize that I need them for the next profession. This update, if you manage to actually implement it, will save me a lot of bag space across all of my account. I hope that the agony resist items are for all of their numbers, but that is wishful thinking on my part. Thank you again for your hard work and I can hardly wait to see this beautiful quality of life change be implemented in the game and good luck with all of your projects.

I just hope that they find their happy place to settle and be done with their story. I just want their travels to be over, bring in some new blood here. Finish Hero-tron’s saga as well while you’re at it, get the mysterious GW1 litch and finish her story as well. Just for the fun of it emerge all of these apparently loose plot threads and unite them to make a new one while finishing the old ones. A gag is funny up until a point you know.

Belinda. Not because she was an interesting character…. but because our hero rushed to the rescue and she died anyway.

Summed up my feeling exactly. I don’t care about that quaggan’s death, I cared more for the money I spent on him thinking he’d give me a buff, or an item, or something. I’m sad about the fact that I couldn’t save big Beli for Marj and Kas’ sake and I’m angry at the quaggan that stole my money. I get angry a lot more than sad. Point to Belinda’s death.

I would like to meet other commanders in the Living Story moving forward. I can imagine some of them starting the dialogue something like:“While you were parading all over Tyria, I was leading the Pact to defeat [insert dragon minions]!” or if you meet a Vigil based one: “Don’t sweat it, relic!”, " This commander can handle this situation better than an old geezer!", “You should stay a veteran!” and so on. We did meet a few commanders in the Personal Story, I don’t remember any of them, but I would certainly like to meet some of the Pact’s new blood and see how they fare against a dragon champion.

Same message, I had to go through the submit ticket→ forum way. I thought that maybe my IP was banned for some reason(it isn’t). This message (from the OP) keep popping up ever since the Ready Up stream. I initially dismissed it as an overflow of users trying to sign up for the Tournament of Legends. I’m creating a topic about some guild features that we want implemented in the game. We list the features that we want and the we discuss them and their possible implementation. Here are a few stuff that I want in the game, guild related:
-guild alliances:buffs, special guild-alliance missions, at the end of those activities we get our rewards(gear, materials and/or titles);
-guild rivalries: special contests PVE, PVP, WvW related to guilds with reward tiers;
- tiered world bosses for easier access for smaller guilds(less rewards), normal for normal and difficult high risk high reward stuff for those that are hard-core;
-guild merger options for those that don’t have enough members;
-bring past content back as guild missions, depending on the content;
-maybe implement guild missions that depend on the guild members faction(Priory,Vigil or Whispers), maybe even some Pact related stuff to cleanse Orr and or get new zones in Orr because of it;
I’ve given my ideas, give yours. Discuss away.

From what I’ve read and understand, this system will be similar to Edge of the Mists map in overflow.
And if that is the case how will you solve the issues that Edge of the Mists had on day 1 and 2?
How will you solve the queuing issue that is glaringly there whenever we try to do a world boss? Will it be similar to world versus world?(I hope it will be)
How will you address the massive lag issue that will be present on the map where the mega-server system is implemented?
Will mapping in a map be luck-based or do we need to cue and wait similarly to wvw?

Give me an interesting idea and I’ll elaborate on it.

I’ve got an idea for the 40+ mistlock instabilities. When running a fractal, a random mursaat will appear and hit you with spectral agony and then disappear.
Lore-wise they can move in and out of the mists with ease and since the mists reflect past, present and future with all possible timelines it is possible for them to do that. Dessa can even comment on that: “Hey, what was that?” or “Whose there?”.

Boss encounter idea:
1) Ominous music, a trail leading to the arena, an arena that can be seen in the distance but is at the end of a serpentine road
2) We get to it and the massive doors open when we approach and close when we are in it
3) The boss makes an appearance that is over the top
4) Until 75% we can just wail at it with every thing we’ve got
5)After that, until 50% we have do disable a shield with an item that’s been made available to us because we dodged it’s charge attack
6) The battle music changes to reflect getting to 25% that the boss is dying and it will start to dish out lots of area of effect circles and lines while the arena is starting to deteriorate
7) When it gets to 0 it goes to a downed state and will go back to 25% if not stomped
Taunts: 100%- thinks it’s a god
75%- still confident but at a more humanoid level rather than a god one
50% starts to panic
25% incoherent
0%/downed laughing maniacally

It’s no surprise that the “add more mechanics” idea comes up a lot for difficulty scaling. Not only does it sound really great, it was also the original plan. Unfortunately it’s just about the heaviest approach we could take because it implies that every boss in the fractal needs to be updated and rebalanced for every tier that we add. Assuming 2 bosses per Fractal (and we never added new Fractals), every time we add a tier of difficulty we have to do this 30 times. I’m not saying we can’t do it; I’m saying it would be slow. Much slower than say, adding one or two new Fractals per tier with entirely new content.

What I actually don’t like about that approach is that it has a lot of filler progression. Hypothetical levels 51-60 would effectively all be the same. We thought the advantage of assigning an MI to every level was that it literally made every level unique and also avoids the re-rolling problem that fractal selection has.


Back on randomness/replayability/rewards: I think the intent has always been to make the Fractals a very replayable experience by using random to create semi-unique iterations through the content. But the extrinsic reward motivators work to the contrary, making random unfavorable for optimal gain.

I’d like to see more speculation on middle ground solutions which both add meaningful variety to the Fractals without forcing players to feel like they’re trudging through non-optimal reward paths.

Also, this is all just speculation. I’m not advocating or declaring an official re-work of any system here. Just exploring possibilities for the evolution of this and future content.

If it comes to the choice whether to have more mechanics or a new fractal, I choose a new fractal.

I would have loved more explanations about what will happen to all of Scarlet’s alliances and stuff that she built, what did she know about Caithe that was so incriminating? I still don’t know who E is or what he wants, if it is a he. Why did Teq got so strong in one LS? What will happen to the bionics and Destiny’s Edge members?
Will the bandits ever finish those bridges and paths to Maguuma Jungle[spoiler] now that Mordy has awakened[/spoiler]?
Will we ever going to explore all of the Tarnished Coast?
So many questions left unanswered, maybe we’ll see in season 2, or the next few patches.
In summation, I wanted an epilogue that cleared up a few things and pointed to another few, not just [spoiler] a dragon [/spoiler].

So in conclusion, we don’t know exactly how much time until season 2 because we don’t know how long the feature/ maintenance patches will last or how many of them there will be. We just know when the WvW tournament is held but not how long the break between seasons is.

Hi all,

After I’ve seen the most recent live-stream on twitch, I was left with 2 burning questions. The way the season 1 of the Living Story was presented was 4 patches that finish Scarlet’s story and tie up all of the loose ends around her and 1 patch with no story only system updates, but now during the latest stream (during the time of this post is being written) there should be a maintenance patch and a feature patch and then the second season starts.
Can anyone please tell me what is going on?
How many patches are left between season 1 and season 2 of the Living Story? (I count the non-story patches as the intermission)

I still think that making a dedicated team for Fractals (making/updating/fixing them) is the best course to go on. And with monthly new Fractal releases it would solve most if not all of the problems with fractals.

Description and goals: -converting old GW1 dungeons to GW2 fractals;
- creating dungeons that explain why some creatures/races have vanished off of Tyria;
- converting current dungeons into fractal to make room for new one
- implement those rumoured dungeons that didn’t make the cut at launch because of time and money as fractals
- implement dungeons that are about possible futures
- removing level cap from fractals and creating appropriate challenges and rewards with each release
Proposal Functionality:
-the team would have to be at least as big as a Living World team if not as big as the PvP team combined with the WvW team
-they would ship out a monthly fractal + changes/ fixes towards existing ones(bugs appear whenever you implement something new and the should have at least a week to fix them)
Risks:
-time and money spent on a separate team
- possible distancing of members from other LS teams
- workload will be hectic is an understatement

When running the moa event, in the Ruins of Surmia server, it gets to a point where the moas face of with the Wurm Queen and they just stand there, then they are gone. No event failed, no event succeeded, just another Queen Wurm fight and no resolution to the moa event.

All of the characters that are alive from the Ghosts of Ascalon book, first-born sylvari, the lesser legions, more crazy asuran experiments, norns going to the spirits for help in dealing with Jormag and possibly restoring some of the lost spirits and ressurecting the owl with the help of Grenth. Who is that blacksmith that is supose to restore a certain magical blade? and did she/he restore it? More charr getting their homelands back/going to the other high-legions citadels. Did those bandits get their alliance and finished those bridges and paths to new maps?
What’s in the floating castle? If we get the Dominion of Winds, can we get to go inside it? What is the Priory doing in order to restore ancient artefacts and do they get to move them to safety in time?
What happened with the treaty? Did Rytlock screw up by sending Rox to the Jubilee instead of himself?
Do we ever get to see that hot nameless litch ever again?
So many questions , but there are no answers. I hope that they answer at least some of them in season 2 of the living story. So many characters, so little development time.

We could use cuteness to our advantage. We may tax bookahs a lot harsher in the future.
Exhibit 1: petting tax, if a bookah wants to pet us we will tax the depending on the number of strokes, their harshness and other factors that may or may not be made-up by us;
Exhibit 2: we can set up tents with the promise that if, for a fee of course, anyone wants to get in and admire our asuran models dressed in cute clothing they can do so for a limited time as well, we wouldn’t want to keep everyone away from their experiments for long;
Exhibit 3: we can make a holiday that reveres us and paints us in an especially good light, that way we can sell a lot of merchandise to all of the races with enough currency to spare.
If these ideas are of any interest to you, my fellow colleagues, please do share your thoughts on how to make us richer of of the lesser minds .

Concerning fractals:-make both ascended armour and trinkets have agony resistance slots just like the rings
-let us experience the fractals to level 100 and fix the scaling accordingly
-introduce more fractal dungeons that are available only after a certain threshold like one of the new fractals will star appearing after level 10 or when you first get agony inflicted upon you, or when you have collected a certain number of fractal currency
-implement agony resistance to legendary weapons as well as ascended ones
-a wider variation on mistlock instabilities, have more than one after level 40 or 50
- Tyrian history is vast, explore moments when certain species went extinct
-possible fractals could be portions of god-realms (and not just Grenth’s and Balthazar’s)
- allow us to actually utilise that max 30 agony resistance when we get to higher levels(don’t just one-shot us unless we aren’t equipped for that level of difficulty) , again SCALE PROPERLY, I can’t stress this enough
- fix bugs on current fractals when implementing changes to anything(they always appear)
- let us delve deeper into Dessa’s story, just like the Halloween stuff, the Zephyrites, one update isn’t enough
- implement those leaderboards for fractals (you mentioned in an update that they will come and we’re still waiting).
You may add to my suggestions, I have FORGOTTEN a few stuff. Have fun .

Honestly, I couldn’t care what happens to most of LA.

But I’m with the people hoping that the old LA ruins are left alone. Destroying those would be a huge upset to a lot of people, myself included. The less of them affected the better >.>

They way the story’s going; I’m sorry to say that:“They’ll be the first ones to go” in either patch 3 or 4. I’m paraphrasing here, some developer said something among the lines of:“Nothing’s sacred.”
The way that probe is positioned, right in the centre of old L.A., it doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Old L.A. ruins are going bye bye.

What I think will be destroyed:-the ruins of OLD L.A.
-the sea port
-a few buildings near the ports
-a few asura gates that are near the sea port/old L.A. zone.
The rest of the buildings will get a ruin look. And what I want to actually happen:
-the wall that leads to the Dominion of Winds to be blown up in order for us to access it and the tengu(new zone+new playable race)

the thing that has to be kept in mind, yes there is “a massive list of things that ANet needs to revisit”, but if they keep on just revisiting stuff, then they’re just retreading GW1. they need to balance it with new lore.

Like the downsized-siege devourers that will be implemented in the game with the Edge of Mists update, hopefully we’ll get the full version in regular WvW as a blueprint. And a few other little stuff that I’ve Forgotten but I’m going on a tangent. I know that it takes a lot of time to get these things in the game planning, man-power, resources and so on. I would have wanted to get some things that are obvious: Zaishen, the Tower, Tengu and another few things that I’ve Forgotten Lots of love for Arena net for actually getting to some stuff. They are getting better with every release, I believe that in sometime in 2015-2016 the story will be actually good every release. But enough with my wishes upon a star, I’m rambling. Zaishen are usually PvP centred people so a PVP related update making Zaishen actually do something like a new mechanic for the PVP or game type in PVPwould be nice. Make a credible excuse about manipulating mists is hard and it takes a long time to get to their full strength (DBZ reference) or something in those lines. It’s not like they have the same resources they had on battle isles 250 years ago.

well to be accurate, it’s a mecha-devourer transformation. not a real siege devourer, and not a blueprint. you go to a place, get transformed, and then struggle your way through geometry until your objective.

Now that’s just nit-picking. We’ve waited for the mecha-devourers to be in the game for almost 2 years. They are progressing in the right direction. They’re just being slow about it because IRL problems like money/man-powers/bugs/people in general. The sad thing is the Zaishen don’t leave much to the imagination. Maybe that is why they’re so low on the totem-pole. Who knows? They haven’t made public the list of priorities because it’s subjected to lots of changes on a daily basis. For all we know they might not even appear until season 4 or 5. Even though I hope it’s season 2 when they make their presence known.

the thing that has to be kept in mind, yes there is “a massive list of things that ANet needs to revisit”, but if they keep on just revisiting stuff, then they’re just retreading GW1. they need to balance it with new lore.

Like the downsized-siege devourers that will be implemented in the game with the Edge of Mists update, hopefully we’ll get the full version in regular WvW as a blueprint. And a few other little stuff that I’ve Forgotten but I’m going on a tangent. I know that it takes a lot of time to get these things in the game planning, man-power, resources and so on. I would have wanted to get some things that are obvious: Zaishen, the Tower, Tengu and another few things that I’ve Forgotten Lots of love for Arena net for actually getting to some stuff. They are getting better with every release, I believe that in sometime in 2015-2016 the story will be actually good every release. But enough with my wishes upon a star, I’m rambling. Zaishen are usually PvP centred people so a PVP related update making Zaishen actually do something like a new mechanic for the PVP or game type in PVPwould be nice. Make a credible excuse about manipulating mists is hard and it takes a long time to get to their full strength (DBZ reference) or something in those lines. It’s not like they have the same resources they had on battle isles 250 years ago.

M: You take her, she’s not worth the trouble.
P: You’re the plant-lover, I’m just a fire-dragon causing some chaos and drinking magic,I’ve got enough minion from the mountains.

I know that they said that they have to know 4 months in advance what they want to do with the story and prepare accordingly. Maybe they’ll see this blog post and sometime in August or September maybe they’ll make it, I don’t know. Planning ahead is hard.
