-All spirits can now be launched, knocked down, and knocked back.
This was a bug fix which now will allow more counter-play when fighting spirits.
-Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, Stone Spirit, and Spirit of Nature will now begin their recharge when the spirit dies instead of when the spirit is summoned.
-Storm Spirit, Frost Spirit, Sun Spirit, and Stone Spirit: Recharge has been reduced from 60 seconds to 25 seconds.
-Spirit of Nature: Recharge has been reduced from 240 seconds to 180 seconds.
Players could take the time to AOE them down simply to have to deal with another set of spirits.
So the only way you have to counter spirits is spamming aoe on them. Seems healthy for the game.

stab/blind/dodge are all poor arguments on how to counter.
Why?
Because they require skill to use.
Yeah because your stun/burst combo requires lot of skill lol. Not to mention your kittened selfhealing allows you to repeat and repeat this same stuff, allowing to make mistakes whitout even worry about your health.

Everything is subjective, since Descartes at least. If we’re going to believe in relativism, just close forums, because everything is subjective or opinions.
Some people enjoy Skyhammer, and like to being instant killed by a pushback, a ground disapearing below his feet, or some random factor, like your skills don’t working because of lag. Skyhammer is fun your 1st time, your 2nd time, after your 3rd time you realize you’re forced to play certain classes and builds, just to instant kill your enemy or avoid being ejected of the map.
We can’t teach you what is fun (we shouldn’t), common sense isn’t teachable neither, sadly.

I support Helseth’s ideas, it’s better than the ‘’wait after PAX to actually start fixing this non sense meta’‘. A lot of people who wants something similar to competitive pvp just quitted when skyhammer happened, it just reflexes what Anet think pvp is going to be. The problem is the game isn’t competitive, neither fun, unless you like wvw roaming which pvp is even more casual than hotjoin’s.
The idea of delaying a balance patch because PAX is either bad or lazy. Games that are able to completely forget their actual balance, have a backup server to do tourneys, which isn’t the case here.
You just can’t ignore 99,9% of people not playing PAX, hell I don’t want to watch that npc/spam fest even when I want to support the game I bought..
I just want my mini pets to be able to be used in spvp. My spirits feel so lonely

They want to have their shiny moment before this game completely collapse because of kittened balance. I guess they deserve their place, next to sp. rangers and necros.

The skill floor of this game reached unexpected heights. Perma cc, plus absurd burst, melee cleave hitting 3k+ on each swing, plus ridiculous amount of self healing. At least they are hard to play… (insert trollface here)
Why aren’t engineers consider as op? They have similar access to burning plus confusion.. and they are as tanky as necros, less aoe but better mobility.. they should be tonned down imo.
This map is terrible. I don’t want to touch solo que because of this map.. and capricorn.

How much love do they need? They can stunlock you forever, have good condi removal, selfhealing, and large hp pool.
They’re slowly becoming the new necro, aoe spam → cc spam.
I said like 2 months ago, mesmers condition removal was really bad.. and everyone answered I was crazy because of null field, traits and mantras (?). And this was an issue even before necro’s buff, engineers damage was (and still is) flying over the radar.
So they want to nerf some of the few counters to conditions bomb? Lol this forum is amazing.
Warriors are op, then? nerf thieves. Also half life 3 announced because of spam 3.

It’s always about thieves.
WvW uses PvE’s skills, crafting and guild systems, which is why I suggest they be balanced together. You can transition between those two game modes seamlessly with your crafting and gear.
I don’t think they need to be balanced together because they play so drastically differently. Storming a fort is entirely different than storming a point in PvP.
Not sure if there’s so much difference, you have to pvp to take a fort, and you’ll have to face a bunch of players or a zerg and deal whit currently spvp unbalances, like 0 condition mitigation stat, plus unbalanced pve stuff, like food, etc.
Spvp should be their main guide to balance wvw . If spvp isn’t balanced wvw will never be more like an aoe, melee cleave/retaliation fest.
I agree in everything you said.. clones plus minions and spirits are everywhere.. phantasms are stronger than the mesmer itself, which it’s a bad idea to start whit imo.
At least turrets aren’t that strong, or we’d have engineers sitting in between their turrets too. Or maybe Anet wants an AI vs AI game, no idea. Last PAX qualifiers were just ugly to watch.. MVP spirits, period.
Not sure if you need a wall of text to say this.. but everyone says wvw pvp balance is ugly. In fact top guilds run whit guardians and warriors, just because retaliation and high armor means your enemy will kill himself.. last necro’s nerf didn’t affect to wvw which is hilarious considering how epidemic and aoe spam wreck zerg fights.. WvW should have spvp’s balance imo, and aoe + retaliation toned down a lot.
Also I would get ride of consumables, having or not having your food means life or death in some cases, which is kittened, like that -cond duration food, etc, they’re stronger than certain master traits lol.

Hotjoin isn’t different than wvw zerg fights.. It’s probably even worse, especially when you’re forced to play skyhammer, oh god, I always end quitting playing that map.
Shadow return doesn’t break cc since 2 patches ago…..
You misread what I wrote. Currently, if you press Shadow Return while CCed, it will still teleport you back, it just won’t stun break. What I’m saying is I believe it should not be able to teleport you back while you’re stunned (it is grayed out like the rest of your skills).
Oh gotcha, similar to ele’s blink, doesn’t break cc anymore, but you can teleport right after. If we fix this we gotta fix every weapon whit similar behaviors, like mesmers staff backflip etc.
If thieves had the benefits upon stealthing that mesmers do, then I’d be open to discuss how overpowered stealth is for thieves.
I find it amusing that Mesmers were mentioned as being done right, when they have extreme burst damage that AOE’s, plenty of stealths / target drop / where the hell is the mesmer now, mechanics, and huge uptime on regeneration, protection, and plenty of reapplications to the above including aegis, specced right. And this hardly gimps their damage.
If thieves had something similar … then I’d think stealth was actually somewhat problematic, but they don’t.

This is not true at all.. decoy, torch offhand, mass invi, veil.. plus prismatic understanding, they have lot of stealth uptime if they want.

So annoying.. Spirit ranger, minions necro, clones…. plus massive particles and aoe going around I can’t even target what I want. And also these pets and illusions will follow you forever, if you stealth, for example, they instant target you. Could we raise the skill base of this game please? Less AI and aoe dependent?
yep everyone is running condis right now.. Anet pretty much ignored the whole condition fest, so it seems they like this ’’skyhammer’’ mentality of balancing pvp.
Yep they have more DS uptime now, they were already hard to kill. And marks don’t even require greater marks now…

Comparable to what thieves can do in a D/P set, only with out the need to get revealed and with superior range and slightly less damage. They just might make rangers interesting yet. Hopefully one of the good rangers out there has enough tools now to make a build that isn’t so reliant on passives (spirits, pets, etc.). I know they have been trying to pull it off for a long time.
How is the best disengage mechanic in the game, stealth, an offensive mechanic? You can stealth and switch weapons, run away, etc.
It encourages both offensive and defensive playstyle. Like if bunker rangers didn’t have enough survivability, they can now nearly perma stealth.Bunker rangers spec towards more condition damage and LB is more of a power weapon. A bunker ranger would need to give up a lot for a tiny bit of stealth. Don’t see a reason to switch to LB. Stealth is OP in WvW, useless in PvE and I find it to be about right in sPvP.
I would use LB just to stealth every 10 sec.. It’s kinda sad that the only way to make a weapon viable is adding stealth into it….. This is not a ranger hate, it’s actually sad the way Anet is taking to fix unviable weapons/builds.
Stealth is an annoying, frustating and uncounterable mechanic, and they keep adding more, instead of toning it down. Whatever.
So rangers are kinda ranged thieves. Good way to balance.

1200 range…… like I don’t know if this weapon is viable or not, that’s not the point. They’re introducing new stealth mechanics like if it wasn’t enough to deal whit the stealth we already have. I mean I don’t understand the ‘’stealth hate’’ a.k.a revelead, and then we have to deal whit a ranged nearly spammable stealth. I’m kinda lost.
Hunter’s Shot: This skill no longer applies vulnerability on each hit, but now grants the ranger stealth for 3 seconds (12 sec base cd)

I’m not the God of Gw2 but there is alot of players who think they know what they’re talking about when they have no idea what is really going on unless you’re playing the game at top lvl of spvp you have no clue of what’s happening. Watching a game and thinking you know some stuff it’s not the same as playing it i’ve experience those things first hand.
And this is why the forums are a joke most of the time you got those players who doesn’t understand the game or they think they do talking all kinds of things. They should just make a forum for the top 2% of players that spvp in Gw2…..

Well there are those players that refuse to play faceroll builds cuz they don’t want/like to play that way and there are those players that just goes with the meta.
That doesn’t change what you are saying. If there is no skill involved in those builds to compete then how can you claim there is a high tiered level of pvp?

Reroll a melee class, like a guardian or warrior and autoattack #1 (has to be cleave).

Do necros have a stun break or two? Yes. They’re on strange, not often used skills, and on a huge cooldown, but they exist. Same for stability, literally three sources for it, none that is actually practical. Necros are, by far, the class most susceptible to CC.
Necros are susceptible to focus fire, agree, but not because of lack of stun breakers, it’s because of their mobility which is still poor.
They were probably weak dealing whit cc before last big patch, which removed so many stun breakers (like shadow return, elixir r, ele’s blink, etc).
Eng and Wars built for control match up very well vs necros, exploit the classes weakness of no stun breaks and stability.
Actually necros have both stun breaks and stability.. this is engis weakness since last patch actually, and why lot of people dropped elix R.
Skills like well of power (similar to elixir c, plus stun breaker) and spectral walk, break stuns. Not to mention DS stability from 30 in soul reaping, which is not even necessary imo having such utilities.
Probably the only way to easily taking him down, is zerging him, like one class (warrior) using full cc utilities, and another one bursting him.. agree whit that one :P
