Mesmer Clones and AoE circles

The problem is that berserker has a short cooldown, and you can not heal siege at all.

So eventually, a single mesmer WILL kill the siege.

The only way to stop it is if you have at least one person guarding the siege to kill berserker before it starts swinging. Its not a very long window, and if you wait too long it will merrily keep swinging again every few seconds too.

If there is multiple mesmers willing to exploit it, you basically can’t have any siege inside max range of the walls.

You dont even need aes.

Single target abilities will still hit someone.

That will even make them flicker if they get hit. The projectile also disappears.

So even a large group spamming auto attack in all directions should let you know where the thief is hiding.

Ill say, I have only had a few hours to play since I work weekends, but its been a blast.

Literally fights EVERYWHERE for every inch of ground.

So much more fun than winning by a mile.

Death Shroud damage and duration scales with vitality.

It does not reduce the percent-based decay over time, but damage done to you and the “cost” of abilities is fixed.

I am also fairly sure life blast scales with vitality as well as power.

How about necromancer staff mark stacking?

Long range, goes right through bubbles since they are not projectiles, and doesn’t require the enemy to draw on your screen to go off.

Also, fear marks would make hash of their stacking and focus.

Dropping them in the right spot would require some communications, but thats it.

Theif stealth needs to be more inline with Mesmer Invisibility uptime.

Its not permanent. Its repeatedly refreshed by attacking every few seconds.

You can also use ae to hit them just fine. Either they attack and eat the AE, or they lose stealth.

Fwiw, the things we summon are rather obviously “made” or “crafted” rather than summoned.

I mean, the Flesh Golems head is mostly made out of something’s rib cage if you look at it. The other minions are the same way.

Also, its worth noting that its a 600 range cone. That is going to be quite wide at full range, so its going to potentially hit a LOT of targets.

The only on-crit we get is a one-second bleed. In order for that to to even tic more than once you would need +100% duration bonus.

I dont know about the control aspect, I usually go full-bore conditions.

Epidemic is just gruesome in any kind of AE situation, and blood is power is very nice with condition transferral.

Both dagger #4 and staff #4 are condition transfer. The latter is significantly stronger but if you want them off yourself you need to be in the area of effect when it triggers. Its also one of our few blast finishers.

The closest to your description is “Rampager’s”, which is actually Prec/Power/ConD and has less ConD since the Precision is the primary stat on it.

I am really liking the “Carrion” set for armor, which is ConD/Power/Vit on armor, with “Rampager’s” trinkets, as that still gives me ~30% crit.

Its quite evident its not an optimization issue. Ive leveled other characters through this zone without any problems. Its not framerate lag, its the server taking several seconds to acknowledge things like interacting with npcs or using skills.

sorry for posting this in general, but ive tried opening a ticket and in the support forum with no help,

There is massive amounts of lag in fireheart rise, jade quarry server. People in chat are reporting its been this way for several hours. Its been that way for at least 2 by my own experience.

However, neighboring zones are fine.

This is honestly the worst lag I’ve experienced in gw2 so far, and im surprised its not been fixed yet.

. Not many people want to spend 75+ silver on something that’s gonna be capped overnight.

If 20 people capture something that awards 4 silver, thats it giving out 80s.

If keeps/towers weren’t also major gold sinks, they would be EXTREMELY broken from a money generation standpoint.

Its usually entirely possible to hit that cat with your own by arcing it over the doors. It just takes good positioning and a slight amount of user skill.

I really want to give props to ET on this week though.

Part of the reason JQ was able to knock henge off their pedestal was really because ET was in this fighting for a chance at winning it all.

They could have eeked out staying in Tier 1 if they were willing to act as dedicated spoilers and going for second instead.

The end result is that the point totals this week really don’t portray how close this could have been.

Look, if you are dedicated to farming everything yourself as some kind of matter of principle, its going to take you longer.

I have had 0 problems doing it on my engineer just playing whatever, and selling the things I didn’t want to buy the missing mats for what I did want.

It only took me a couple of days for me to craft a full set of exotics from wvw loot/coin. If its taking you longer for some reason, you may be doing something wrong.

That is not a failure of the game.

I tried both elementalist and mesmer before necromancer, and now my necro is higher than both of them.

Why? Because its about 2-3x less squishy.

Sure its not a DPS monster, but ill take that over not being 1 more good hit from death at the end of almost every fight when I am soloing.

Frankly, I don’t think arena net is EVER going to let it be the burst machine a lot of the posters in this forum seem to want. Its just too tanky to allow that.

The most I see them doing is fixing the scaling on siphon for vampiric builds. Even then, I don’t see it getting tremendously more incoming health or it would be hideously overpowered.

Its a server issue, not a client hardware issue. I really dont think throwing money at your rig is going to help.

Edit: My theory is that they were having bandwidth/network/infrastructure issues so they are throttling a lot of stuff rather harshly to keep things stable. That is what finally let them get the trading post up.

Use scepter and stack condition damage, but have death shroud be pointless.

Someone else pointed out in another thread that theres actually a bleed on DS #2…

Between that and the might stacking trait, theres actually a reason to pop into it occasionally and fire off a couple blasts.

If they made grenades anything but ground targetted, they would have to nerf the damage substantially.

Maybe in PVE.

In PVP it would immediately become impossible to hit a target that wasn’t rooted or a drooling moron though.

As it is now, you can at least try to anticipate the direction of a dodge. If it was permanently clamped to the targets location when you throw, it would be laughably easy to avoid.

Confusion does not tic per second.

Its also significantly harder to stack up to the levels you can hit easily with bleeds.

Runes do not work that way.
That 5% is just 5%. Its not multiplied by number of gear with that rune equipped.

I really dont think grenades are that much stronger than any other range focused class.

I mean, a condition Necro with epidemic can dish out that same kind of damage.

Elementalists’ AE options are even stronger, and they dont have to hang around and hammer them.

Also, nether of the above have to worry about 80% of keep walls just silently eating their spells either.

Yes, its awful.

It does however have some strong points that get overlooked occasionally.

Specifically:
It pierces by default.
It can also proc the Life Force gain on mutliple targets per cast.

And thats it.

Note: I am not saying its not bad. Projectile should move twice as fast, or it should have an ae on the end.

They have stability, but not immunity. People just need to learn to focus them as soon as they start that.

Thief gets a choice between dieing or canceling.

Also, those are projectiles and can be reflected.

10x might is enough for a power well necro to take it by itself, I would think.

+350 power by itself is going to be equivalent to 3x extra pieces of gear for example.

Add that with the might some of them stack up from life blast, and they could be hitting 25ish stacks of might.

Frankly, I was using it with condition transfer as a quick source for long bleeds anyways.
(long bleeds benefit a lot more easily from +duration)

The Might/Life force is just cake.

If they want it used as a burst-enhancer skill they should probably make it instant though.

Precision is better in my opinion. Especially if you are deep into tools.

Also, if you pick up the on-crit traits, precision is better in that respect too.

The power scale on grenades is like 20 for one point of damage. That means even at low levels of +critdamage its still better to stack Precision.

I also like to stack +Cond, as I like the way the damage from bleed/burn/poison can sneak up on someone. They will stick around and let you stack it up a lot longer than if you take it all off in one chunk.

Ive killed LOTS of people that have backed off at 20% health, and then they die to the stacked up bleeds.

Without that +condamage, theyd have lived.

This explains the SBI strategy in a nutshell.

Its also the reason JQ isnt going to hold off on fighting SBI.

As others have said, when JQ DOES fight Henge, they get back-stabbed by organised guilds like WM dropping siege on the back-field rather than fight Henge.

Tell this to SBI. There was some sentiment in JQ in favor of at least détente with SBI to free up efforts to counter Henge.

However SBI just stuck the knife in every time you looked away from them.

This time the agreement is to expect it and not hesitate to hit them.

You can’t really blame Jade Quarry from preferring not to have SBI on the map if it can be avoided. Just less people around to get stabbed in the back from.

There is a lag spike when a large group travels through a portal. If they spawn inside the vanguard, most of it may be dead before people start to be able to see them.

Currently, a mesmer can drop a portal exit instantly from stealth. Even if you DO kill the mesmer at that point, he’s already done his job.

If there was a cast time on it, there would be at least some hope of dropping or interrupting him before he could finish casting.

Engineer is also really strong defending or attacking a walled objectives with their spammable ground target attacks. They also have their own siege weapons that dont require LOS.

That can be a big advantage when peaking over a wall to use an ability with a LOS check will get you turned into chunky salsa.

But Mesmers really have some strong strategic movement considerations.

Since when?

I was testing for a “Elite Supplies” fix, but no love on that.

Then I noticed that whenever I was in mortar I had stability up. Lasts a whole minute, refreshes on entering mortar and drops when leaving it.

This happens with and without Elite supplies, so its not a buff to that.

This is a full bore hold nothing back glass cannon build. Hes also in full exotics from the look of it.

For comparison, He is hitting for 3k when a warrior or other more bursty class could be doing 3x that in melee.

Its brutal once you consider he is doing this with a lot of AOE attacks however. Its really a hard counter to mesmers though…

Until you realise that every single attack he is unloading is a projectile and you can reflect them all on him with good timing.
